Long
Robert Ray Long, 56, died Friday, May 30, 2003, in Edna.
Graveside services were held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Geraldine Huckman officiating.
Mr. Long was born on May 21, 1947, in Beeville, to Dick and Helen Ray (Ferguson) Cox. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He resided in Edna and was a mechanic. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Pettus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Ray Cox.
Survivors include his father, Dick Cox of Edna; two brothers, Drexel Cox of Edna and Emery Lee Cox and wife Cathy of Mt. Belview; a daughter, Serita Denise Cox of Baytown; a son, Robert William Cox of Baytown; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Longoria
Alejandro Longoria Sr., 51, died Thursday, May 29, 2003.
Rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at 7 o’clock at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. A memorial service will be held at that location at 10 a.m. on Thursday with Deacon Louis Treviño officiating. Funeral will be private.
Mr. Longoria was born in San Juan on July 24, 1951, to Jose and Esperanza (Garcia) Longoria. He was an oilfield roughneck and a member of the Catholic church. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Esperanza Longoria of Pettus; his son, Alejandro (Patricia) Longoria Jr. of Beeville; two sisters, Amelia (Santos) Leon and Rosa (David) Valdez, both of Corpus Christi; a brother, Johnny (Sandra) Longoria of Pettus; and two grandchildren.

Perez
Michael Gracia Perez, 23, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Carlos Rios Jr., Sebastian, Stephen and Michael Rios, Michael Ladesma, Joey Ramos, Edward Perez and Justin Gracia.
Mr. Perez was born on March 7, 1980, in Weslaco, to Orlando and Maria (Gracia) Perez. He resided in Beeville and was a refinery worker and a member of St. Joseph’s.
Survivors include his son, Byron Michael Perez of Beeville; his parents, Orlando and Maria Perez; two sisters, Cindy and Angel Perez, all of Beeville; his paternal grandparents, Ramiro and Margarita Perez of Weslaco; and his maternal grandmother, Angelita Gracia of Mercedes.

Reza
Daniella Marie Reza, 2, died Sunday, May 31, 2003, at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Tues-day from 5 to 9 p.m. at Gallo-way and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Graveside services were held today (Wed-nesday) at 10 a.m. at San Pedro Cem-etery in Clare-ville.
Daniella was born on March 2, 2001, in Corpus Christi, to Vincent Reza and Angelica Castillo.
Survivors include her parents and two sisters, Destiny Cantu and Gabriella Reza; her maternal grandfather, Domingo Castillo and wife Yolanda; her maternal grandmother, Irma Hernandez and husband Julian, all of Beeville; her paternal grandparents, Ramon and Guadalupe Reza of Fresno; and her maternal great-grandparents, David and Rosenda Garcia and Nasaria Castillo, all of Beeville.

Scully
Melinda Ann Scully, 33, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation will be held this afternoon (Wednesday) from 1 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at the same location. Burial will follow in Normanna’s DelBosque Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Bradford, Bart Hunt, Beau Staples, Jason Maddox, Allan Fetterly and Robbie Rios. Honorary pallbearers will be Lorenzo Ortiz, Rick Reyes, Raymond Fox, Jim Fox, Kenneth Mendoza and Isaias Treviño.
Miss Scully was born on Dec. 19, 1969, in Beeville, to Joe Reyes and Evangelina Valdez. She had resided in Austin for the past 10 years and was a buyer’s assistant for Samuels Jewelers, Inc.
Survivors include her mother, Evangelina Scully of Normanna; her father, Joe Reyes of Beeville; her brother, Raul Scully of Austin; her maternal grandmother, Rebecca Valdez of Normanna; her paternal grandmother, Dolores Reyes of Beeville; and an uncle, Rick Reyes of Austin.

Wiser
James Wesley Wiser, 61, died May 25, 2003, in Bayside.
Visitation was held Monday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Ross Lowery officiating. Special music was provided by organist Sister Julie Macaraeg. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Matt Henry, Sergeant Torres, Officer Quentero, Officer Hall, Officer Ussery and Officer Rosebrauc.
Mr. Wiser was born on March 21, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., to Clarence Wesley and Jessie Mae (Keown) Wiser. He served in the U.S. Army and was a correctional officer at the TDCJ McConnell Unit. He was a Catholic and loved to fish. He spent all his spare time fishing.
Survivors include his son, Wesley James Wiser and his ex-wife, Helen Wiser, both of Chantilly, Va.; a brother, Paul Joseph Wiser of Berea, Ky.; a great-nephew, Paul Joseph Wiser III and a nephew, Paul Joseph Wiser Jr., both of  South Carolina; and two nieces, Ruth and Della Wiser, both of Kentucky.

Fernandez
Elida Fernandez, 68, of Amarillo died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003.
Mrs. Fernandez was born in Beeville. She moved to Amarillo in 1971 from Altus, Okla. She worked at the Levi’s plant before its closing as a presser and a seamstress. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Amarillo.
Survivors include three daughters, Elsa Gomez, Gloria Mendoza and Nancy Rico, all of Amarillo; five sons, Julio Ortiz Jr., Rene Ortiz, Rudy Rico, Hector Rico and Moses Rico Jr., all of Amarillo; two brothers, Alfredo Chavarria of Beeville and Adam Chavarria of Abilene; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel in Amarillo. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Rex Nicholl officiating. Interment was at Llano East Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1210 E. 11th St., Amarillo, TX 79102, or to the South  Texas Chapter of the American Liver Foundation, 2525 West Loop South, Suite 660, Houston, TX 77027.
Arrangements were handled through Rector Funeral Home, Amarillo.

Gingerich
Leroy P. Gingerich, 90, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at his residence here.
Graveside services were held Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Beeville Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jerry Huckman officiating.
Mr. Gingerich was born on June 6, 1913, to Christian and Mary (Zehr) Gingerich in Greenfield, Iowa. He was a former resident of Ohio. He worked for Avantra Corp. for 22 years, refueling jets at NAS Chase Field. He was a member of First Christian Church.
He was married to Illiah Gingerich, who preceded him in death on July 5, 1993. He also was preceded in death by a son, Paul Leroy Gingerich.
Survivors include his sister, Ruth (Max) Miller of Wellman, Iowa; two brothers, Aldine “Bill” Gingerich of Wellman, Iowa, and Jerry (Letha) Gingerich of Mountain Home, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Vergie Erb of Beemer, Neb.; his best friend and caregiver, Marilyn Gursek; close friends Pete and Carolyn Malek, all of Beeville; and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas
William Weldon Thomas Sr., 90, of Alice died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Corpus Christi.
He was born July 7, 1913, in Beeville to William H. and Lilly Thomas. He was retired after 47 years of service from Wilson Supply Company. He was also a longtime rancher in Jim Wells and Duval counties. Mr. Thomas was a member of First Baptist Church in Alice, Southwest  Texas Cattle Raisers Association, National Cattle Raisers Association and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Reve Yett Thomas of Alice; one daughter, Sandee Thomas of San Antonio; one son, W.W. (Gretchen) Thomas Jr. of Alice; two sisters, Lucille T. Phillips and Flossie T. Diegel, both of San Antonio; two grandsons, Marc Dupre of Katy and Michael Thomas of Victoria; five great-grandchildren; one nephew, Tracy (Ann) Yett; and one niece, Denise Wilkinson.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Alice. Private interment preceded the memorial service in the Alice Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Alice Memorial Fund or to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements were handled through Holmgreen Mortuary, Alice.

Malone
Edgar Samuel Malone, 86, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Beeville. A Bee County native, Mr. Malone was born on Aug. 15, 1918. He was the first son and fourth child born to Ira E. Malone Sr. and Lillie Lee (Kirkpatrick) Malone. He married Ruby Lee Atkins on Valentine’s Day 1942.
In his early teens Mr. Malone became a member of Friendship Baptist Church near Orangedale. He was baptized in Poesta Creek behind the church. In high school he was active in vocational agriculture classes.
Mr. Malone was descended from seven documented Revolutionary War soldiers and patriots, three documented War of 1812 soldiers and three documented Confederate veterans. His great-grandfather, Isaac Malone, received a land grant from the Republic of  Texas.
Mr. Malone enlisted in Battery “E,” Beeville’s National Guard Unit, in 1938. The unit was called to active duty in November 1940 and later became a part of the 961st Field Artillery Battalion. The unit landed at Utah Beach in France three days after “D” Day in 1944. They were equipped with 155mm “Long Tom” artillery pieces and supported Gen. George Patton’s Third Army. In all, they supported 12 different divisions and fired more than 49,000 rounds of high explosives.
Mr. Malone went to work in the oil fields at an early age. He began work in Monahans and worked in East  Texas oil fields and in many oil fields south of San Antonio. He was employed with Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co. for many years.
He and his wife, Ruby, enjoyed hosting family gatherings in their home.
Mr. Malone was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruby Malone, in 1997. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Jean Malone Watts  Jones and Elizabeth Malone Tomlin; a granddaughter, Bridget Tomlin; a grandson, Virgil “Chuck” Watts Jr.; and three sisters, Harper Velma Williams Vinson, Tonie Gipson and Zaner Stokley.
He is survived by a brother, Ira E. Malone and wife Dare, and a sister, Berna Timlin, both of Houston. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Eddie Watts, Lynnette Watts Ejam and John Watts, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral chapel. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
