Treviño
Juanita Cuevas Treviño, 84, died Friday, June 27, 2002 at her residence.
Visitation is scheduled for today (Saturday) from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Chapa, Domingo Garcia, Frank Cuevas, Henry Mierles Jr., Ponce C. Treviño and Roberto Treviño. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Mierles, Gerardo Treviño, Miguel Treviño and Ernest D. Seddon.
Mrs. Treviño was born to Manuel and Jesus (Moreno) Cuevas on March 27, 1918 in Goliad. She married Felix R. Treviño in Sinton in 1968. She was a resident of Beeville and had resided in Taft for 34 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic church. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft and St. James Catholic Church in Beeville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Primitivo Serna, her parents, her second husband, Felix Treviño, and seven siblings.
She is survived by three stepsons, Ponciano and Jesus Treviño, both of Taft and Miguel Treviño Sr. of Austin; her stepdaughter, Maria Treviño de Mirelas of Taft; one brother, Estevan Cuevas of George West; one sister, Celestina Bridge of Beeville; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Trigo
Elida Quintero Trigo, 55, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002.
A prayer service was held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 11 o’clock at the same location, with Pastor Genaro Tovar of Pharr officiating. Burial followed in Evangelico Cemetery.
Mrs. Trigo was born to Juan and Juanita (Arce) Quintero in Big Wells on Oct. 4, 1946. She was a housewife and a Pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Isaac Trigo Sr. of Beeville; her daughter, Juana Trigo of Beeville; five sons, Leandro Trigo of Hutto, Jesus Trigo of Austin and Javier, Isaac Jr. and Primitivo Trigo, all of Beeville.; six sisters, Carol Quintero and Veronica Quintero, both of Austin, Lydia Quintero of St. Louis, Mo., Julia Fernandez of Waco, Beatrice Garcia of Houston, and Mary Sandoval of Sullivan City; four brothers, Regino Quintero of Beeville, Robert Quintero of Hutto and Juan and Carlos Quintero, both of Austin.

Curtis
Ruby Jewel Newbert Curtis, 88, formerly of San Antonio, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. She was living in Beeville. Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.
Arrangements were handled through Porter Loring Mortuaries, San Antonio.

Gonzales
Maria S. Gonzales, 49, died at her residence in Austin on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Angelus Funeral Home. Rosary was recited that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Pallbearers were Miguel, Ben and Emiliano Gonzales, Keith Hradek, Victor Medina and Tomas Flores.
Miss Gonzales was born on Nov. 9, 1952, in Beeville to Arturo Gonzales Jr. and Guadalupe Silvas Gonzales. She had resided in Austin for 28 years and worked as a bilingual teacher for Austin Independent School District. During her career, she worked for the following schools: Sims Elementary (1975-78), Ortega (1978-80 and 1987-2002) and Barton Hills (1980-87). She was a member of the Catholic church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arturo Bocanegra Gonzales Jr., on Jan. 2, 2001.
Miss Gonzales is survived by her mother, Guadalupe Silvas Gonzales of Beeville; a brother, Arturo Gonzales III and wife Elizabeth of Fort Worth; three sisters, Yrma Chavarria and husband Johnny and Linda Gonzales, all of Beeville, and Lydia Gonzales of Austin; two nephews, Miguel Pablo and Benjamin Arturo Gonzales, both of Fort Worth; two nieces, Maria Louisa Chavarria and Ana Kristina Villarreal, both of Beeville; a great-nephew, David Matthew Villarreal of Beeville; and a great-niece, Michaela Nicole Chavarria of Beeville.

Lozano
Agapito Lozano, 96, of Skidmore died on Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
He was born on April 9, 1906, in Refugio to Silvestre and Telesfora (Garcia) Lozano. He was a retired ranch hand and water well service owner. He was a member of the Catholic church.
Mr. Lozano was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Manuela Perez Lozano, who died on March 19, 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Hilda (Richard) Rodriguez of Kingsville; his daughters-in-law, Minnie Amador of Skidmore and Elizabeth DelBosque of Beeville; a son, Eloy DelBosque of Beeville; a sister-in-law, Trine L. Lozano of Beeville; a brother-in-law, Jose Perez of Skidmore; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at 7:30 at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore with Father Paul Arjareegam officiating. Burial followed in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Ramon, Wally Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, Mark Amador, Eloy DelBosque III and Encarnacion Perez.

Salinas
Paula V. Salinas, 88, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002.
She was born on April 2, 1914, in Rio Grande City to Alvino and Guadalupe (Morales) Vasquez. She was a housewife and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Juan Salinas.
Mrs. Salinas is survived by six daughters and their husbands, Lupe (Nick) Carabajal, Mary Vasquez, Olga (Ynocencio) Vasquez and Gloria (Felipe) Ybarra, all of Beeville, Janie (Ernesto) Leal of San Juan and Rosa (Alejandro) Garza of San Antonio; three sons and their wives, Jose (Trinidad) Castillo and Mike (Reyes) Ramos, both of San Antonio, and Ramiro (Mabel) Castillo of Beeville; a sister, Elvira Carabajal of Beeville; 47 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Pallbearers were Henry Hernandez Jr., Estevan Vasquez, Alex Garza Jr., Eloy Vasquez, Felipe Ybarra Jr. and Manuel Vasquez. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.

Steinmeyer
Carl Steinmeyer, 84, of Tynan died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
He was born in Tynan on Feb. 6, 1918, and had lived there all his life. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a production controller for the Corpus Christi Army Depot. Mr. Steinmeyer was a piano player, farmer, avid fisherman and animal lover. He was also a Mason, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of NARFE.
Mr. Steinmeyer is survived by three sons, Eddie Steinmeyer of Pinnacle, N.C., Joe Steinmeyer of Mathis and Gerald Steinmeyer of Germanton, N.C.; a brother, Reagan Steinmeyer of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home chapel in Mathis, with the Rev. W.C. Alhrich officiating. Interment will follow in Tynan’s Waldheim Cemetery.

Wandry
Esther Mae Wandry, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1915, in Hebron, Ind., to Harry Vincent Wells and Jenny Harvey Boecock. She was a housewife and the co-owner of Johann’s Sportswear. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy Victor Wandry.
Mrs. Wandry is survived by her daughter, Johann Lewis of Beeville; two granddaughters, Teresa Hernandez and Sue Ann Wood, both of Beeville; and five great-grandchildren, Deidre Nicole and Victor Ray Heiser, Thomas Jared Hernandez, Raymond Lewis Wood and Wesley Oliver Lewis.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don  Taylor officiating. Special music will be provided by soloist Teresa Hernandez, who will sing “In the Garden.” Private burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Schauer, Charles Chacon Sr., Freddy Schauer, Willie Spreen, Ray Bomersbach and Bill Gobel Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Becker, Dewayne Bowman Sr., Hank Lucke, Robert Vaughn, Al Hinojosa, Wilburn Denkeler and Carroll Wayne Lohse.

Black
Melva Ellen Hendrix Black, 64, formerly of Beeville, died Nov. 6, 2002, at her residence in Rayville, La., from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was a homemaker and taught 4-H sewing and cooking classes from 1967-1969, while her husband, James G. Black, was stationed at NAS Chase Field in Beeville. They returned here in 1973, upon her husband’s retirement from the Navy. She attended nursing classes at Bee County College, while her husband was a patrolman with the Beeville Police Department. In 1976, they returned to their hometown in Rayville, La., where she lived the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Black was born on April 14, 1938, to Terry Lee and Mary Ethel Hendrix. She devoted her life to travel, music, books, sewing, quilting, gardening, pets and her family.
Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home chapel in Rayville with her daughter, Lynette Casares, presenting the eulogy and grandsons Brandon and Austin Maldonado performing “Dust in the Wind” on guitar.
Pallbearers were all of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Melvin Boris Hendrix.
She is survived by her husband, James G. Black of Rayville, La.; her daughters, Michele (Kraig) O’Deay of Monroe, La., Allison Black (Larry Silmon) of Rayville, La., Lynette (Juan) Casares of Beeville; her son, Brad Black of Walpole, N.H.; her sisters, Lela Silk and Nancy Stokley of Rayville, La., and Mary Cisko of Jacksonville, Fla.; her brother, Lawrence Hendrix of Leesburg, Fla.; and her grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy Black of Monroe, La., Rachel Black of Havre de Grace, Md.; Brandon Maldonado of San Antonio and Austin Maldonado and Derrick Casares of Beeville.
Arrangements were handled through Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, La.

Camacho
Mary Mickey Cortez Camacho, 34, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Sunday at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited that evening at 7:30 at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore with Father Paul Rajareegam officiating.
Pallbearers were Jeff Cortez, Mario Moreno, Marty Villarreal, Erick Echavarry, Richard Camacho and Isaac Camacho.
Mrs. Camacho was born to Mike and Patsy (Gonzales) Cortez in Beeville on July 26, 1968. She married Gerardo Camacho in Skidmore in May 1986. She resided in Skidmore and was a secretary for the City of Mathis. She was a member of Immaculate Conception.
Survivors include her husband, Gerardo Camacho; a daughter, Alexia Bailey Camacho; and a son, Tristen Martin Camacho, all of Skidmore; two brothers, Joe Cortez and wife Sherri of Skidmore and James R. Peña of Dallas; four sisters, Minnie Jeanette Cortez of Beeville, Virginia Hartman-Villarreal and husband Marty of San Antonio, Patsy Echavarry and husband Erick of Beeville, and Vee Vee Foriest-Castaneda of Skidmore; her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. M. Camacho of Swinney Switch; and several nieces and nephews.

Gutierrez
Micaela Perez Gutierrez, 74, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002.
A rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Private services were held Monday.
Mrs. Gutierrez was born in Clareville on July 25, 1928, to Pedro and Eulogia (Gutierrez) Perez. She resided in Mathis and was a housekeeper and a member of the Catholic church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Eristeo Gutierrez Jr., who died in 1968.
Survivors include her husband, Eristeo Gutierrez Sr. of Mathis; two daughters, Estefana (Benjamin) Hernandez of Mathis and Elma (Fernando) Tamez of George West; five sons, Erasmo, Enrique and Eligio (Martha) Gutierrez, all of Mathis, Ernesto (Josefina) Gutierrez of Dallas and Esteban (Rosa Maria) Gutierrez of Houston; two sisters, Maria Fuentes of Dallas and Merce Lopez of Houston; a brother, Melito Perez of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
