Maldonado
Abel G. Maldonado Jr., 49, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial with full military honors followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Abel Maldonado III, Mario, Benjamin, Pete and Ricky Maldonado and Ricky Coronado. Honorary pallbearers were Jennifer and Raul Maldonado, Ray Coronado and Johnny Contreras.
Mr. Maldonado was born in Beeville on June 20, 1954, to Abel B. Maldonado Sr. and Carmen Garcia Maldonado. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years before his retirement, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He was employed as a correctional officer at the TDCJ McConnell Unit. He was a member of the Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Carmen Garcia Maldonado of Beeville; his daughter, Jennifer Maldonado of Austin; three sons, Abel Maldonado III and Benjamin Maldonado, both of Austin, and Mario (Theresa) Maldonado of Skidmore; six sisters, Margarita Salazar, Estolia (Victor) Contreras, Adelita (Jose) Salazar, Esther (Felipe) Martinez, Teresa (Ruben) Alonso and Andrea (David) Elizalde, all of Beeville; five brothers, Jesse (Linda) and Ricky Maldonado, both of Beeville, Raul (Tomasita) Maldonado of Houston, Pedro (Patricia) Maldonado of Rockport and Reynaldo (Debbie) Maldonado of Freer; and three grandchildren, Janie Lynn Maldonado, Dylan John Maldonado and Jacob Lee Campos.

Newsom
Thelma Jane Fullen Bohac Newsom, 93, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Hillside Lodge Nursing Home.
Visitation was held Monday at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the same location, with the Revs. John Flute and Lee Bevly officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Wayne, Steven and Greg Bohac, Carl Hoss  White, Lawrence Thackston and Darrell McGonagill. Honorary pallbearers were Allen Bohac, Denny Brown, Wayne Brown, Ty  White and J.D.  White.
Mrs. Newsom was born on Sept. 13, 1908, in Greenville to W.E. and Lula (Davis) Fullen. She married Joe F. Bohac Sr. in Beeville on Oct. 8, 1924. Following his death, she married Ollen O’dell Newsom in Victoria on April 5, 1975. She was a resident of Skidmore, a homemaker and a former employee of Skidmore Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, sisters and one grandson.
Mrs. Newsom is survived by her three sons, Emil O., Joe Jr. and Willie Bohac, all of Skidmore; seven grandchildren, Jimmy, Larry, Wayne and Steven Bohac, Cindy Grant, Brenda Lewis and Robyn  White; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Reagan
Dick Leroy Reagan, 71, of Corpus Christi, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Beeville. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Dr. Bruce Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles M. Reagan III, Dick Lewis, Steven, and David Reagan, Bradley and David Mock, Douglas Hardy and Richard Goodwin III.
Mr. Reagan was born on Oct. 3, 1930, in Beeville, to Charles Murray and Nannie (Hatcher) Reagan. He served three years in the U.S. Army and married Marilyn Sue Goodwin in 1951.
He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1947. In 1957, he graduated first in his class from  Texas Tech with a degree in architecture. He then completed an internship with Richard Colley Architect, and was a member of Colley Association Architect and Engineers. After his retirement, he worked as a consultant for the Corpus Christi Independent School District maintenance department. He was an elder and church school superintendent of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi. He was a founding member of the Corpus Christi Fern Society and the South  Texas Begonia Society.
Mr. Reagan is survived by his wife, Marilyn Sue (Goodwin) Reagan of Corpus Christi; two sons, Darell Lee Reagan and wife Patrice of Corpus Christi and Thomas Philip Reagan and wife Christy of San Antonio; one daughter, Elizabeth Jane Quintero of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Monica and Erica Quintero, Elijah John Torres, and Jonathan and Kendra Reagan, all of San Antonio; two brothers, Charles M. Reagan and wife Jeanne of Taft and James H. Reagan and wife Sherry of Beaumont; two sisters, Beth Mock and husband Roy of San Antonio and Jane Hardy and husband Buddy of Beeville; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Stovall
Martha Jo Dorsey Stovall, 60, known to her friends as “Marty,” died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, after a long battle with metastasis lung cancer.
Mrs. Stovall was born on May 24, 1942, in Beeville, the only child of Joe and Lucille Dorsey. She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, Lucille Borchers; her husband, Frank Stovall; her stepchildren, Ivy Stovall McClain, Holly Stovall and Max Franklin Stovall and wife Kim; and her step-grandchildren, Clifton Chase McClain, Kaylan Stovall and Sara Stovall.
Mrs. Stovall graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1960, where she served as class president, cheerleader and member of Student Council. After high school, she attended Baylor University and the University of  Texas.
In 1965, she moved to Houston to work as a legal secretary for the firm of Kronzer, Abraham, Watkins and Steely. In 1971, she married Frank Stovall, an attorney. Though she did not have children of her own, she was active in the rearing of her stepchildren.
She was also an avid golfer and was active in the women’s golf associations of both Pine Forest and Lakeside country clubs. She was a subscribing member of the Houston Opera and belonged to the Houston Zoological Society and the Houston Bar Auxiliary.
She was a devoted Catholic and regularly attended St. Theresa Catholic Church. She was active in many church activities and programs.
The family will receive friends today (Wednesday) from 5:30 until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Geo. H. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home, 1010 Bering Drive, in Houston, with a vigil service scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell, in Houston, with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Pickard, celebrant. Rite of committal will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Cline, Dr. Dwayne Dull, Eldon Nuss, John Somyak, Turner Pope, Bob Jones, Jim Turnipseede and Dr. H.S. Chana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 570127, Houston,  Texas 77257, or to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements were handled through Geo. H. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home, Houston.

Stuart
Ira Blanton Stuart, 75, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Full Gospel Church in Beeville, with Bro. Carl R. Pickett officiating.
Mr. Stuart was born on Aug. 28, 1927, in Pettus to Jessie and Ella Mae (Wilson) Stuart. He served in the Merchant Marines and was an oil field worker. He loved to fish. He married Monteen Ritchie on Dec. 29, 1971, in Guadalupe County.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Leroy Burton, and two brothers.
Mr. Stuart is survived by his wife, Monteen Stuart of Beeville; a son, Blanton Stuart of Austin; a daughter, Vickie Bailey of Corpus Christi; two stepdaughters, Betty Tucker of Corpus Christi and Angelia Starr Pellegrini of Roseville, Mich.; two stepsons, Ricky Schenck of Utah and Jerry Schenck of Waco; one brother, Walter Stuart of Beeville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Torres
Nasario Torres Jr., 55, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002.
Visitation was held Sunday at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited at 7 o’clock that evening at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial followed in Clareville’s San Pedro Cemetery.
Mr. Torres was born to Nasario and Rita (Sanchez) Torres in George West on May 23, 1947. He married Idolina Cuellar on July 18, 1964, in Freer. He resided in Beeville and was a master plumber and a member of the Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Albert Cuellar Torres, in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Idolina Torres of Beeville; one son, Joe Louis Torres of Houston; one daughter, Anna Melisa Torres of Houston; one brother, Victor Valdez of Freer; three sisters, Angelita Guerra of Freer, Isabel Kneten of San Antonio and Ramona Escalante of San Diego; four grandchildren, Jessica Lynn, Seth Alec, Christian Renee and Joseph Alexander Torres.

Turner
Vilma S. Martinez Turner, 54, of San Antonio died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1947, in Beeville and moved to San Antonio in 1968. She was known throughout the mortgage and real estate industry for more than 35 years.
She is survived by her parents, Gerald R. Martinez and Lydia Bazan Martinez; her sisters, Diana Guevara and Lulu (Lydia) Martinez; her nephew, J.C. Guevara; her niece, Laura Guevara; her companion, Jim Tom Nichols; his children, Noelle, Nate and Nash; and numerous relatives and close friends.
A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio, with visitation two hours prior to the rosary. Scripture service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice Homecare, 10221 Desert Sands, Ste. 301, San Antonio, TX 78216.

Gray
Addie Elven “Mike” Gray, 78, of Beeville died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1924, in Strong, Ark., to Francis Fredick (Frank) and Sarah Ann ( White) Gray.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II (1942-1945). He retired from the Amoco Oil Co. plant in Pettus after 32 years of employment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Beeville Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Peggy Dorine Hawkins Gray, in 1984; a son, Elven Gray; five brothers, Jim Frank Gray, Walter Gray, C.C. (Pete) Gray, John (Bud) Gray and P.D. Gray; six sisters, Lillie Crisp, Jessie Calkins Guedry, Lexler Dell Gray, Rose Lee Williams, Willie Mae McWhorter and Robertine Gray; a half-brother, Joe Luther Gray; and four half-sisters, Myrtie Dell Dollar, Lizzie Broeg, Bertha Little and Nell Newsom.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Mary Rankhorn Gray of Beeville; a daughter, Alice Ley and husband Martin of Hillsboro, Tenn.; one son, Perry Lee Gray and wife Vicki of Beeville; one stepdaughter, Tracey Addington and husband Scott of Boerne; two stepsons, George “Rick” Booth Jr. and Barry Booth, both of Austin; six grandchildren; Laura (Sherman)  White, Lisa (Bruce) Prater, John J. Ley II, Dorine (Frank) Guerrero, Jennifer (Roger) Gilbert and Georgina (Ray) Copeland; four step-grandchildren, Tyler and Peyton Addington and Mickey and Corey Booth; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the same location with Dr. Nathan Booth officiating. Burial with Masonic services will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Gary Gray, Bruce Gray, Jerry Gray, Bobby Williams, Charles Williams, Roger Myers, Mike Myers and William Schirmer. Honorary pallbearers include his nephews, nephews-in-law and great-nephews.

Rodriguez
Raul Rivas Rodriguez, 66, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003. He was born on Oct. 17, 1936, in Mineral. He was a retired custodian for the Pawnee Independent School District. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres Rodriguez and Fidela Rivas.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife, Maria Garcia Rodriguez of Mineral; a daughter, Christina Martinez of Angleton; a son, Eric Stephen Martinez of Angleton; two brothers, Jose Rodriguez and Jimmy Garcia, both of Corpus Christi; five sisters, Sarah Rodriguez, Mamie Romero and Lydia Sherman, all of Corpus Christi, Adella Castro and Margaret Quintanilla, both of Houston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A prayer service was held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Burial followed at the Mineral Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Martinez, Jimmy Rodriguez, Ricky Rodriguez, Oscar Rodriguez, Robert Romero and Tommy Rodriguez.
