EDWARD "ED" LONES

Services for Edward "Ed" Lones, 72, of Gainesville, are set for 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Ken Cole, retired minister, and the Rev. Mark Loewen, minister of First Christian Church in Gainesville, officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Lones died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Gainesville Memorial Hospital in Gainesville.

He was born April 27, 1930, in Erick, Okla., to Jay Luke Lones and Opal Lee West Lones. On July 31, 1948, he married Sallie Marie Sparkman in Gainesville. He was a member of the First Christian Church, a farmer and welder and worked for the T.Y.C. before his retirement.

Survivors include his caregiver, Lou Ann Duncan of Gainesville; mother, Opal Lones of Gainesville; sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Paula Lones of Gainesville, and Johnnie Lones of Tulia; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bruce Pearson of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Willie Mae and Charles Freeman of Thackerville, Okla., and Frances and Wayne Pilcher of Collinsville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Luke Lones; wife, Sallie Marie Lones on Nov. 4, 1998; and son, Wayne Lones.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of First Christian Church.

The family will be at the Clement-Keel Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

SAM MILLER

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Services for Sam Miller, 31, of Springfield, Ill., are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ellinger-Kunz & Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park under the direction of the Ellinger-Kunz & Davis Funeral Home; 437 N. 6th St.; Springfield, IL.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and run until service time.

Mr. Miller died Aug. 8, 2003.

He was born Oct. 15, 1971, in Springfield, Ill., to Barbara (Hogan) and Samuel W. Miller Sr. He was a concrete finisher for Chernis Concrete.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn; son, Andrew Wayne VanDerWal of Springfield, Ill.; daughters, Jessica Renee VanDerWal of Springfield, Ill., Kaylinn Marie Miller of Gainesville, and Samantha Dawn VanDerWal of Springfield, Ill.; mother, Barbara (Melvin) Kuhnley of Springfield, Ill.; grandparents, Henry Hogan of Clarksville, and Floyd Yeck of Springfield, Ill.; sisters, Christina Smith and Carol Sue Pickrell of Springfield, Ill.; step-father, Larry Pickrell of Athens; step-sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Sam Miller Memorial Fund.

FRANK WOODS BLAGG

Services for Frank  Woods Blagg, 86, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Aubrey Spires of Marysville Baptist Church and Dr. Bennie Slack, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Blagg died April 12, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

He was born July 27, 1914, in Ladonia to Talyrand Field and Bessie  Woods Blagg. On Jan. 10, 1937, he married Nell Kerley in Sherman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was Sunday school superintendent and taught both boys and men's Sunday school class. He was a member of Gainesville Masonic Lodge #210 for 50 years. He was also a member of Chapter and Council of York Rite Masons. He was a member of Gainesville Kiwanis Club, where he served as president in 1963, and was Lieutenant Governor in 1966 and again in 1974-1975. He was President of Kiwanis Road Runner in 1984 and served on several  Texas/ Oklahoma District committees. He was an original board member of the Claude  Jones Day Nursery and served as president from 1959-1986, when property was deeded to First Baptist Church, where he served as president of the committee since 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Blagg of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Jennifer Blagg of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Nelson Spires of Colorado Springs,  Colo.; brother-in-law, Auston Kerley; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Mike Spires.

Pallbearers are Marcus Blagg, Jim Blagg, Randy Blagg, Jeff Blagg, Nelson Spires and Ben Hatcher. Honorary pallbearers are the Gainesville Kiwanis Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to Frank Blagg Memorial Fund Claude  Jones Day Care, First State Bank, Post Office Drawer 10, Gainesville, TX 76241.

PATRICK JOSEPH LILLEY SR.

EULESS - Services for Patrick Joseph Lilley Sr., 50, of Euless, are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorial mass is set for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will immediately follow the Rosary.

Mr. Lilley died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Paris, France.

He was born June 16, 1952, in Mart to Earl J. and Dee Lilley. He graduated from Burleson High School and received a B.S. and M.S.N. from the University of  Texas at Arlington and a M.B.A. from the University of Dallas. He was chairman of nursing at North Central  Texas College in Gainesville and had been employed in local area hospitals. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Euless.

Survivors include his wife, Joanie; daughter, Siobhan; son, P.J. of Euless; step-mother, Evelyn Tindle of Athens; and numerous family members.

R.C. SHOTWELL

Services for R.C. Shotwell, 83, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Church of Christ with Steve Lee, minister of Hillcrest Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

R.C. Shotwell, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, left this world on Oct. 9, 2001, for a better place.

He was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Cooke County to S.E. "Ed" and Mary England Shotwell. He was a lifetime resident and attended schools in Cooke County. He married Nettie Rose  Taylor in 1950. He was employed for 46 years as an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a long-time member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie Rose Shotwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Irving Amburn of DeSoto and Debbie and Ken Davis of Southlake; grandchildren, John Amburn and Kristina Davis; brothers and sisters-in-law, S.E. Jr. and Mary Ruth Shotwell of Fort Worth and Harold and Ruth Shotwell of Gainesville; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Shotwell; brothers, Johnny and Dean Shotwell; sisters, Murrell McReynolds and Ruth Bartlett; and his parents, S.E. and Mary Shotwell.

Pallbearers are Bill Sluder, Bob Walton, M.C. Legge, Winford Sherrill, Horace Burkhart and Velton Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Finley, Calvin Suggs, and Paul Clayton.

GLENNA CHRISTINE HOLDER

SADLER -- Services for Glenna Christine Holder, 87, of Sadler, are set for 3:30 p.m. Friday at Huff Funeral Chapel in  Whitesboro. Interment will follow in the Gordonville Cemetery under the direction of the Huff Funeral Home of  Whitesboro.

Mrs. Holder died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Wilson N.  Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

She was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Gordonville to Verna Ruth (Driggars) and James Stanhope Davison. On Jan. 14, 1936, she married Fred Wiley Holder in Sherman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gordonville Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sister, Pauline McAden of Belton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband on Dec. 29, 1983.

Pallbearers are nephews and great-nephews.

There will be no family visitation at the funeral home.

LEVI WAYNE LEMOND

HENRIETTA -- Graveside service for Levi Wayne Lemond, infant son of Kenneth and Cricket Lemond of Gainesville, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta with the Rev. Terry Barrett of Euless officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Levi Wayne Lemond died July 29, 2002, in a Sherman hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Cricket Lemond of Gainesville; brothers, Jake and Matt Guiling of Lindsay; sisters, Jessica Wilson of Erin, Tenn., and Tracy Lemond of Wichita Falls; grandparents, Ruth Lemond of Henrietta, and Don and Dana Jo Fenley of Gainesville; and great-grandmother, Mary Frances Gordon of Gainesville.

JAMES "J.J." JOHNSON

THACKERVILLE, Okla. -- Graveside service for James "J.J." Johnson, 46, of Thackerville, Okla., is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Petersburg Cemetery with the Rev. Leo  Taylor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Spivey's Reser Funeral Home of Ringling, Okla.

Mr.  Johnson died Dec. 7, 2002, at Marietta, Okla.

He was born Dec. 8, 1955, in Corpus Christi to Eugene and Elsie Carol  Taylor Johnson. On Oct. 8, 1979, he married Trudy Parlin in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Trudy  Johnson of Thackerville, Okla.; daughters, Janetta McCage of  Oklahoma City, Okla., Noel Linderman of Thackerville, Okla., and Staci Bridwell of Thackerville, Okla.; sons, Darrell Linderman of Keller and Bucky Linderman of Marietta, Okla.; four granddaughters; brothers, Ronnie Thomason of Gainesville, Donnie Thomason of Gainesville, Farlin Thomason of Wilson, Okla., and Earnest  Johnson of Lindsay, Okla.; half-brothers, Rick Thomason and Willie Thomason, both of Ripley, Tenn.; and half-sisters, Debra Bowers, Patsy Land, and Toni Cannon, all of Ripley, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and half-sister, Sharon Thomason.

Pallbearers are Darrell Linderman, Bucky Linderman, Randy Voyles, David West, Travis Thomason and Anthony Woods.

Family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

PAULINE LUCILLE MITCHELL

Services for Pauline Lucille Mitchell, 90, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Denison, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mrs. Mitchell died April 7, 2003, at Pecan Tree Manor.

She was born Sept. 15, 1912, in the Starkey Community of Montague County to Rosa Lee Holmes and Warner Alfred Price. On July 4, 1930, she married Lynton William Mitchell in Saint Jo. She has been a Gainesville resident since 1950. She had been employed at various fashion shops in the area and purchsed the Mode-O-Day store in Gainesville in the spring of 1969. Four years later, she opened her own store, named Pauline's Fashion Shop, located in downtown Gainesville and later in the Gainesville Shopping Center, operating it until 1994. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Soroptimist Club and the Chamber of Commerce. For 52 years, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Otis Barthold of Gainesville; daughter, Anna Lee Locke of Denison; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Elmer, Ellis, Melvin and Olen Price; husband, Lynton W. Mitchell on Dec. 30, 1985; and son-in-law, Kenneth R. Locke in January of 2003.

Pallbearers are Dick and Herb Locke, Doug Dougherty, Kenneth Ashley, Melvin Price and Neil Tibbets.

ELIZABETH VINEYARD

Services for Elizabeth Vineyard, 85, of Gainesville, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Mort, minister of Clement Street Missionary Baptist Church in Gainesville, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mrs. Vineyard died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Gainesville Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 20, 1918, in Gainesville to Adolphus and Patience (Gaylor) Wyrick. On Aug. 7, 1936, she married Raymond Vineyard in Marietta, Okla. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Yolanda Vineyard of Pittsburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Dennis Applebaum of Denver,  Colo., and Barbara and Butch McKinney of Gainesville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Wyrick of Richmond,  Calif.; and sister, Lucille Knox of Riverside,  Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Vineyard on Feb. 24, 1988.

The family will be at the Clement-Keel Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

PATRICIA ANN HURLEY COKER

Services for Patricia Ann Hurley Coker, 62, of Kingston, Okla., were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Watts Kingston Chapel in Kingston, Okla., with David Boutwell officiating. Interment followed at 1 p.m. at the Coker Cemetery in Saint Jo. Services were under the direction of the Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.

Mrs. Coker died Monday, July 28, 2003, at the Madill hospital.

She was born Jan. 3, 1941, in San Antonio to W.D. and Aline Bell Hurley. She was reared in Gainesville and moved to Saint Jo and then to Kingston, Okla., in 1997. She was a member of the Kingston Assembly of God Church. Patricia enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with the children at her church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Stephanie Coker of Yukon, Okla.; daughter, Christy Coker of Kingston, Okla.; brother, Doug Hurley of Temple; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Travis Wayne Coker.

ELLEN MARIE "MICKEY" JIRASEK

Services for Ellen Marie "Mickey" Jirasek, 77, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Hare, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will follow Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Borger under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Park Cemetery in Borger.

Mrs. Jirasek died April 12, 2001, at Denton Regional Hospital.

She was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Gainesville to David H. and Minnie Coon Smith. On Aug. 5, 1979, she married James "Buck" Jirasek in Gainesville. She grew up in Cooke County and was educated in the Gainesville schools. She was a bookkeeper in Borger for many years. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Reflection Circle. She prepared the Communion bread and served it for a number of years. She also served as a member of the Congregational Care Committee.

Survivors include her husband, James "Buck" Jirasek; brother and sister-in-law, David R. and Elnora Smith of Gainesville; two nieces and two nephews.

Pallbearers are Charles Brown, James Marshall, Warren Flowers, Don Gaston, Bobby Clark and Jake Hodge.

No visitation is planned.
