AARON WILLIAMS JR.

Funeral services for Aaron Williams, Jr., 93, of Angleton,  Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton,  Texas, with Pastor Robert Wilkes officiating.

Burial will follow in Houston Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Wake Service beginning at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams was born in Rosharon,  Texas on December 20, 1909, to Aaron & Liza Coley Williams. He was an Angleton resident since 1949 and was a member of St. Luke Full Gospel Church in Galveston,  Texas.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson,  Texas.

His wife, Alice; sister, Ann Ola Levi; daughter, Martha Alice King; and parents; preceded him in death.

Survivors include his three sons, Jessie Harkin, Aaron David Williams and Roy Williams, all of Houston; two daughters, Bessie L. Dixon of Houston and Ruth Marie Gilbert of Angleton; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

CURBIE VOGLER

Funeral services for Curbie Vogler, 77, of Rosenberg,  Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4111 Airport Avenue, Rosenberg,  Texas, with the Rev. Ken James and the Rev. Byron Williamson officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg,  Texas.

Mr. Vogler was born May 26, 1925, in Welcome,  Texas, to Herman and Hettie Brauner Vogler. He was retired from Phillips Petroleum. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of the American Legion, VFW, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rosenberg,  Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Effie Vogler of Rosenberg; daughter, Nancy Kirkland & husband Hulon of Morton; son, Mark Vogler & wife Susan of Needville; daughter, Vicki Durr & husband Billy of Fairchild; grandchildren, Dreu Kirkland, Lauren Kirkland, Cole Kirkland, Stephanie Vogler, Courtney Vogler, Katie Vogler and Kellie Vogler; sisters, Lillie Stehle and Paula Rosenbaum, both of Needville and Pearlie Geise & husband Edwin of Rosenberg; brothers, Bob Vogler & wife Evelyn of Rosenberg, Norris Vogler & wife Maxine of Fairchild and Elgin Vogler & wife Eleanor of Pleak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Norbert, Gilbert and Herbert Vogler.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.

LETTY ELIZABETH LEE ERFURDT

Funeral services for Letty Elizabeth Lee Erfurdt, 85, of Sweeny,  Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003, at St. John’s Catholic Church in West Columbia,  Texas, with Father Lee Flores officiating.

Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny,  Texas.

She was born Sunday, December 16, 1917 in Hughesvile, Missouri and passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003, in Wharton,  Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2003, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in West Columbia,  Texas.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny, where she was also a member of the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her son, Carl W. Erfurdt; grandson, Troy J. Peters; and six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Herbert Erfurdt of Sweeny; sons & daughters-in-law, Harry Thomas & Pat Erfurdt of Rogers City, Michigan, Herbert Lee & Sharon Erfurdt of Bartlesville,  Oklahoma and Roger Linn & Brenda Erfurdt of Friendswood; daughter & son-in-law, Mary Catherine & Roy Peters of West Columbia; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Erfurdt’s name to: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny,  Texas.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Erfurdt, Kevin Erfurdt, Roger Erfurdt, Phillip  Jackson and Tracy Peters.

RUTH BERNICE AZLIN

Ruth Bernice Azlin, 93, of Clute,  Texas, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2003, at Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener,  Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2003, at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute,  Texas.

Mrs. Azlin was a resident of Clute for 25 years and was an avid quilter for friends and family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Heavener. Her great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and she will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Azlin; sister, Vera Azlin; and brother, Carrol Needham.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann Morris of Patterson, California; three sons, J.C. Azlin of Eddieville, Iowa; Andy Azlin of Clute and Charles & wife, Naomi of Clute; 12 grandchildren, Tim and Denniz Azlin, Tammy DeLeon, Lisa Koenig, Mylinda Spoor, Becky Durst, Alicia Van De Veer, Sharon, Damon, Larry, Colleen and Marvin Carl; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.

VIRGINIA LAVERNE JONES

Graveside services for Virginia Laverne Jones, 83, of Angleton,  Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Columbia Cemetery in West Columbia,  Texas.

She was born Friday, June 20, 1919 in Ponder,  Texas and passed away Wednesday, March 26 2003, in Angleton,  Texas.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jesse  Jones of Angleton; son & daughter-in-law, Michael Dan & Susan  Jones of Iowa,  Louisiana; daughter & son-in-law, Vonna Ann & Jim Barker of Oakridge, Tennessee; and four grandchildren.

NELL BELL MCGEE

Nell Bell McGee, 84, of Angleton,  Texas, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Kindred Hospital in Houston,  Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Caraway Cemetery in Leesville,  Texas.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton,  Texas.

Nell was born on August 21, 1918 in Rotan,  Texas, to George and Nellie Lambert Casey. She was an Angleton resident in 1952 and was a member of Wilkins Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel McGee of Angleton; one son, James E. Williams of Angleton; one daughter, Peggy R. Stafford of Round Rock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

ELIZABETH "BETTY" LESLIE CASEY ALLISON

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Leslie Casey Allison, 73, of Houston County Lake, Crockett,  Texas, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003, in the East  Texas Medical Center-Crockett.

Memorial services for Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Leslie Casey Allison will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003, in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel in Crockett,  Texas, with Rev. Roger Craiker officiating.

Mrs. Allison was born December 25, 1929 to Ralph E. Leslie and Nola Milton Leslie in Houston,  Texas. She was a school teacher in the Angleton School District until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Leslie; mother, Nola Milton Leslie; and brother, Thomas Milton Leslie.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Douglas Allison of Houston County Lake; son, Mack Casey & wife Peggy of Danbury; son, Terry Casey & wife LaBonne of West Columbia; step children, Doug Allison & wife Diana of Austin, Suzanne Allison Griffin of  Texas City and Kitty Allison Hilton & husband John Engstrom of California; grandchildren, Kimberly Casey Williams & husband Jason, Christopher Casey, Megan Casey, Elizabeth Casey, Jimmy Griffin, Allison Engstrom and J.D. Allison, III; and great-grandchildren, Laynee Williams and Rikki Griffin.

FRED "SPIKE" JOURNEAY, JR.

Funeral services for Spike Journeay, 83, of Angleton are set for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Angleton, with Dr. Rodney Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 at Palms Funeral Home. Fred Journeay, Jr. was born April 1, 1919 in Orange, TX to Fred & Gertrude Martin Journeay, Sr. He was a US Army Air Force WWII Veteran and member of First Baptist Church for 69 years. He was a Dow retiree after 37 years of service, member of the Angleton Vol. Fire Dept. for 34 years, member of The Sons of the Republic of  Texas & member of the Brazoria County Sheriffs Assoc. Spike played on the Angleton High School first State Championship Football Team, and had lived in Angleton since 1932.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Maurine Journeay, son: Chris Journeay & daughter Diane Campbell & her husband Lee Roy all of Angleton. Brothers: Thomas H. Journeay, Sr. & his wife Barbara of Angleton & Dr. Glen E. Journeay & his wife Betty of Austin. Sister: Sue Smith & her husband Vernon of Los Alamos, New Mexico. One grandson; Ryan Journeay of Dayton, Tenn. & numerous nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alec Journeay, Thomas H. Journeay, Jr., Shawn Roberts, Wayne Brown, David Journeay & Stephen Journeay.

In lieu of usual remembrances, donation may be made to First Baptist Church of Angleton, TV Ministry.

HERBERT HAROLD HINKLE

Herbert Harold Hinkle died March 30, 2003 at home on the San Bernard River Prairie, his home of sixty-three years. He was born in Galveston on July 29, 1930 to Sofie Suzanne Knape Hinkle and James Thomas Hinkle and spent his first six years in Freeport where his parents operated a dry goods store. He moved to Hinkles Ferry when he was six and then to the Prairie when he was nine.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Brazoria on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Brazoria Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 31 at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Walker Hinkle, two children, Harold Alan Hinkle and Mollie Suzanne Payne, four beloved grandchildren, Nathan Hinkle, Emmalee Anne Hinkle, Lee Walker Payne & James Thomas Payne, and mother-in-law, Mollie Weathers Walker.

Memorials may be given in Mr. Hinkle’s name to the Brazoria Community Library.
