DELBERT WARREN WALTERS JR.
Delbert Warren Walters Jr., of Freeport, Texas, went to a better life Wednesday, September 24, 2003. Better known by family and friends as Bubba. All who knew Bubba will always remember a man who had a smile and kind words for everyone.
Visitation with family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2003, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson. Longtime dear family friend Jack Perry will officiate.
He was born on October 6, 1948, and was 54 years old. Living his lifetime in Freeport, Bubba being a sportsman at heart loved nothing more than hooking big red fish and flounders at the secret hole, or deer hunting with his dad and brother. His pain and suffering was the only reason for his early retirement from Prime Equipment last year, where he was a heavy equipment mechanic.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Red & Helen Walters; his brother, Benny Eugene Walters; and sister, Beverly Ann Matthews. Survivors include wife, Jan Bell Walters of Freeport; sons, Jason C. McCaffety & Sheila of Brazoria, Joshua A. McCaffety & Leslie of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandson, Gage T. McCaffety of Brazoria; friend and mother-in-law, Faye Bell of Jones Creek; sisters, Jenny Judice and Kathy Walters of Freeport; brother-in-law, Michael Matthews of Lake Jackson; special buddy, Larry Green; grandfather, Eugene Monte; nieces, Mindy Valusek & Darrell of Iowa Colony, Cindy Nesmith & Darren of Lake Jackson, Toby Porter and Lester of Huntsville; nephew, Corky Eugene Reyna of Freeport; great-nieces and nephew, Hope Matthews, Hannah Valusek and Mason Nesmith; aunts, Mary Dee Griffith, Rosetta Frudensprung, and Orene Ballard; and numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Larry Green, Darren Nesmith, Darrell Valusek, Terry Armstrong, Rex Muckleroy, Dennis Fontenot and Gypsy Navasard.

ROBERT CHOUINARD
Robert Chouinard, 65, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2003, at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas. He was born August 26, 1938, in Enfield, New Hampshire.
Survivors include his spouse, Ginny, of Lake Jackson, TX; three children: Diane & Tim Williams of Park Rapids, MN, Donald & Angie Chouinard of Farmington, MN, and Lisa Chouinard of Houston, TX; sister, Joan, & Jim Houghton of Chester, VT; nine grandchildren; his mother, Victoria Chouinard of Enfield, NH; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emile Chouinard, and sister, Edna Chouinard.
Robert was an area resident for 20 years, was employed by Surfside Beach Police Department as patrol lieutenant., was a veteran of both Korean and Vietnam Wars where he was honored with 3 bronze stars and 1 purple heart, and retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Army where he served 24 years as a military policeman and bomb technician.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at “The Anchor” church in Surfside Beach, TX, with the Rev. Gaylen Jones officiating. military honors will follow at the church. Visitation will be Monday, September 29, 2003, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

CLARE LYNN MARSHALL
Clare Lynn Marshall, 39, of Orange, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, from complications of a neuromuscular disease.
She was born to Donald Marshall and Shirley Freeland Marshall on January 6, 1964, in Denville, New Jersey.
A memorial service for her will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2003, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Orange. Following the service the family will meet with friends and loved ones in the parish hall.
She is survived by her parents of Orange; her brother and sister-in-law, Kenric and Jana Marshall; and nephews and niece, Andrew, Nathanael, Philip and Simone Marshall, all of Lake Jackson, Texas.
She was educated in the Little Cypress-Mauriceville school system. After graduating high school, she attended Stephen F. Austin University and served as a resident adviser for four years. Later, she worked for Market Basket stores, serving as a scanning coordinator until a recurring health problem forced her into early retirement. She enjoyed working with horses while she was able and caring for all of her pets.
Her family would like to thank all the caregivers who so tirelessly worked with her throughout her extended illness. She faced these daily challenges with courage and a positive attitude. Additionally, her family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to all her friends and relatives who have given their unwavering support throughout these many years.

ELOISE R. LITTLE
Eloise R. Little, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson, Tx.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at Lakewood Chapel in Clute, Tx.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 1, 2003, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson, Tx. Interment will follow at Restwood Memorial Park.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, May 12, 1913, she married James G. Little in 1935. They resided in Michigan, Tennessee and finally moved to Texas and purchased a home in Lake Jackson in 1946, which was her residence until her passing.
She had many and varied interests including scouting where she served as a den mother for many years. She supported orphanages in India and American Indian schools in the Northwest by gifts and donations, many of which she obtained at garage sales which she loved to attend. She was an avid collector of sea shells and coral of which she donated a large collection to the Brazosport Museum. She would collect flowers and gifts and distribute them to various hospitals, nursing homes and shut-ins around the Brazosport area. For forty years, she greeted foreign ships that were harbored in Freeport, Houston, Galveston and Beaumont, making many people feel welcome. She developed many friendships with these people over the years and continued correspondence with them until the time of her passing. She had a longtime desire to travel to India and finally did so in the 1970s, where she visited many people she had made friends with over the years.
She was known throughout the area as a loving, caring and generous person who would be the first one to help people in a time of need.
She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years and her sister, Mabel Fister.
She is survived be her sons, James G. Little & wife, Linda, of Menlo Park, Calif., George F. Little & wife, Diana, of Great Mills, Md., grandson, Christopher J. Little & wife, Nina, of Boulder, Co., niece, Janet Loxley of California, nephew Tom Clark of Ames, Iowa, nephew John R. Eccles of Nederland, Tx., John & Theresa Mullens & sons Chase, Dylan and Royce who cared for her in her later years and who were like her family to her.
She is also survived by all of her friends whom she considered to be part of her extended family.
MARY BELLE DIEHL
Mary Belle “Tince” Diehl, 84, of Freeport, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2003, in Friendswood, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Chris Moore of Velasco Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Mary moved to Velasco, Texas, in 1946 where she was a housewife and a member of Velasco Baptist Church. She is survived by three children: George Woodrow Diehl Jr. & wife, Pat, of Lake Jackson, TX, Carl Diehl & wife, Patsy, of Freeport, TX, Kathryn Diehl of Friendswood, TX, by grandchildren: Kirk Diehl & wife, Lisa, Jeffrey Diehl & wife Jennifer, Jann Diehl Tracy & husband, Jason, Mark Diehl & wife, Amy, Priscilla Diehl Huvar & husband, Jared, Donnis Bolin, Susan Bolin Bilse & husband, Herbert, by great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Christian, Alexandra, Ericka, Janson, and Colin, by a great-great-grandchild, Tyler, and by sister, Dorthy Nell Sanders of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, twin sons, James Floyd and George Lloyd Diehl, and sister, Pauline Clark.
Along with her love, we will miss her cornbread dressing and pies.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

MARY ELIZABETH QUINLAN GRISSOM
Mary Elizabeth Quinlan Grissom, 79, of Lake Jackson, formerly of Houston and Rockdale, passed away Friday, September 26, 2003, in Lake Jackson, TX.
She was born August 30, 1924, in Rockdale, TX, to George Austin Quinlan & Esta (Stribling) Quinlan. She retired from Honeywell in Houston, working in the office in accounts payable. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was active in the Woman’s Society of the Methodist Church, and she was active in Girl Scouts of America.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Esta Quinlan, and her brother, George C. Quinlan.
She is survived by daughter, Linda Runnels, & husband, Jimmy, of Lake Jackson; granddaughter, Christine Runnels, and great-granddaughter, Danille Mary Rose Runnels.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Chaplin Ray Parton officiating.

BARBARA MICHELE MCCULLY
Barbara Michele McCully, 60, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2003, at her home in Sweeny, Texas, after a four-year struggle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Columbia United Methodist Church in West Columbia, with the Reverend Greg Rogers officiating.
Born in Bruin, Pennsylvania, April 20, 1943, she moved to Texas in her youth and graduated in 1961 from Waco High School. Thereafter, she was a longtime resident of Sweeny.
Over the years, she was employed at PMMI in Old Ocean and later at Sears in both Sweeny and West Columbia locations. At the time of her death, she was employed part-time at Bob Barta Lumber Co. in West Columbia.
Barbara had many interests and hobbies, including quilting, crafting and traveling. She also acted as Treasurer for Brazosport Harley Owner’s Group for several years. Barbara enjoyed spending leisure time at home with her husband and being with her children and grandchildren.
All who knew her were blessed with her love, sense of humor and devotion. We are all better people from having known her.
She is survived by her husband, Rick McCully; son, Steven Eggleston and wife, Julie, of Lake Jackson; daughter, Christine (Eggleston) Knopp and husband, Kelly, of Sugar Land; stepdaughter, Patty Grammer and husband, Steve, of Lake Jackson; stepson, Mike McCully of Brazoria; nine grandchildren, Ryan and Aaron Knopp, Alex Eggleston, Ashley and April Smith, Haley, Brittany and Jacob Grammer, and Kristen McCully.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, and brother, Steve Schnizer.

KATHRYN FARMER
Kathryn Farmer, 74, of Petal Mississippi, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home in Petal, Mississippi.
Mrs. Farmer was retired after 24 years as a secretary for Hess Oil Refinery. She was a member of the 19th Avenue Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Ester Walters and Doris Hinton.
Survivors include her husband, R.B. Farmer, of Petal; son Gary Parker of Clute; stepson, Rodrick Farmer of Petal; stepdaughter, Cynthia Hammett of Petal; sister, Mildred Sumrall of Hattiesburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Della Duke; brothers, P.L. Duke and Charles Ben Duke.
Caroline is survived by her children, Benny and wife, Joyce Clark, Will and wife, Rhonda Clark, Julie and husband, John Bonzagni; grandchildren, Kindle, Kelci, Grant, Ryan, Scott, Brenton, and Colton; brother, Raymond Duke; sister, Bonnie Kinard; sister-in-law, Evelyn Duke.
She will be dearly missed by many family and friends.
