JOYCE CLARA ROBBINS

Joyce Clara Robbins, 74, of Brazoria,  Texas, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, in Aransas Pass,  Texas.

She was born Saturday, March 23, 1929, on the banks of the river in Woodsboro,  Texas, and was a survivor of TB as a child. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the local coffee shop and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Freeport.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Glenda Chambless of Brazoria; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and David Boatright of Aransas Pass; an aunt, Ruby May Stahl of Fredricksburg; grandchildren: Henry Boatright and wife, Amy; Stephanie Boatright; Christopher, Samantha and Kimberly Chambless; Chip Horak and wife, Shae; Dale Horak and wife, Amy; Steven Horak; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2004, at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria. Services will be noon Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria, with the Rev. Erv Knitt officiating. Burial will be in Brazoria Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Henry Boatright, Chris Chambless, Bubba Fink, Bill James, Earl Sturdivant and Joe Sturdivant Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Chip Horak, Dale Horak, Steven Horak, Wayne Stewart, Hershall Sturdivant and Joe Sturdivant Sr.

JACK BURTON

Funeral services for Jack Burton, 69, of Brazoria will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton

Jack, a longtime resident of the Point, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, in Angleton. He was retired from the oil field after many years of service and was an avid outdoorsman.

Jack is survived by his son, Dennis Burton of Houston; grandchildren, Morgan and Adrienne Burton of Houston; Hunter, his beloved dog; and friend Pam Reagan.

Erminie Minard, 75, of Surfside passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services are pending with Palms Funeral Home in Angleton. (979) 849-4343.

ERMINIIE CLAIRE HUNTER MINARD

Funeral services for Erminie Claire Hunter Minard, 75, of Surfside will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton.

Burial will follow in Danbury Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton,  Texas.

Erminie was born in Galveston,  Texas, on November 11, 1928, to Edgar & Erminie Leonard Hunter. Erminie graduated from Ball High School in Galveston in 1944 and received her B.A. in Geology from UT in Austin in 1950. She was the first female geologist to be hired by Gulf Oil. She married David L. Minard in 1952 and together they operated in New Orleans as Minard & Minard Geological Consultants. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in New Orleans. She returned to  Texas in 1974 and lived in the Surfside area since that time. She was also a dedicated teacher of 25 years and worked many years with UIL Academics. She was a recipient of the UIL Denius Award in 1983 and worked with the Danbury, Alvin, LaPorte and Fort Bend Independent School Districts. An avid football fan, she loved her Longhorns and her Cowboys. She was loved and admired by many and touched many lives with her fun loving personality. She will be missed.

Erminie died on Sunday, January 25, 2004, at her residence.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Surviving are her daughter, Erminie B. Minard of Surfside; brother, David Lee Minard Jr. of Denham Springs,  Louisiana; three grandsons, Reese David, Garrett Hunter and Seth Minard; and one granddog, Sterling.

BILLY BRYAN HINDMAN

Billy Bryan Hindman, 74, of Lake Jackson,  Texas, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004, at Brazosport Memorial Hospital.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was a member of First United Methodist of Lake Jackson. He retired from Dow Chemical Company after 30 years of service as an Instrument Tech. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, lifetime member of the American Legion Post 241, lifetime member of Marine Corps Association, and a lifetime member of Marine Corps League and Marine Corp Heritage Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Elizabeth Hindman of Lake Jackson; son, Gary Hindman of Lake Jackson; sister-in-law, Patsy Roberts of Abilene.

Final arrangements entrusted to Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 N. Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson,  Texas. (979) 297-6464.

TIMOTHY JOHN DeVERCELLY

Funeral services for Timothy John DeVercelly, 42, of Holiday Lakes, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Angleton Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2004, at the funeral home.

Timothy was born on January 3, 1962, in Augusta, Maine, and came to the Brazoria County area in 1975. He was the fire chief of Holiday Lakes Fire Department for over 15 years and a past longtime member of Angleton Area Emergency Medical Corps. Timothy died on Sunday, January 25, 2004, in Angleton.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Ayers.

Surviving are his father, Richard DeVercelly of Oyster Creek; wife, Jamie DeVercelly of Holiday Lakes; stepdaughters, Victoria Haddock and Janice Gana of Pearland; brother, Rick DeVercelly of Osewego, New York; sisters, Carole Richardson and Maria DeVercelly, both of Oyster Creek, Kathy Pursley of Angleton; two grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.

SHIRLEY CICO ATKINSON

Funeral services for Shirley Cico Atkinson, 81, of Angleton,  Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Wilkins Street Church of Christ with Leland Rodgers and J.B. Brockman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home.

Shirley was born in Angleton to Dan and Stella Munizaba Cico on February 22, 1922, and died on Sunday, January 25, 2004, in Angleton at Cypress  Woods Care Center. She graduated from Angleton High School in 1938 and became the bride of Boyd B. Atkinson in 1941. Shirley worked as an executive secretary for the Selective Service System. She was a member of the Church of Christ on Wilkins and a member of the Grandmother’s Club and Lone Star Caravan Camping Club.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Boyd B. Atkinson; two daughters, Patrycia Peters of Dallas, Sandra Bidlack of Newport, Rhode Island; one brother, Leon Cico of Giddings; four sisters, Mary Drees & husband, Charles, of Schulenberg, Virginia Jamison and husband, John, of Angleton, Alice Barchek of Danbury, Annie Rose of Belville; three grandchildren, Kerry Bidlack of Aspen, Colorado, Alison Bidlack of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Donald Bidlack Jr. of Santa Cruz, California.

The family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Church of Christ Building Fund, 1100 E. Wilkins, Angleton,  Texas 77515.

LEE EDWARD COOK

Funeral services for Lee Edward Cook, 80, lifelong resident of Angleton,  Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Palms Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Sinclair and the Reverend Chris Tate officiating.

Burial will follow in Angleton Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at the funeral home.

Lee was born in Weldon,  Texas, on October 25, 1923, to A.W. and Lottie Little Cook. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and then worked for  Texas New Mexico Power Company and retired after 46 years. Lee was also a volunteer with the Angleton Volunteer Fire Department and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Angleton.

He died on Monday, January 26, 2004, at Angleton Danbury Medical Center.

His parents; brother, F.O. Cook; sisters, Mildred Cox, Francis Allen and Madeline Jones, precede him.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Georgia Harlan Cook; three sons, Robert Lee Cook of Houston, James Edward Cook of Angleton, Wade E. Cook of Houston; three brothers, Roy M. Cook of Angleton, W.D. Cook of Tomball, Lavern Wharton of Houston; six grandchildren, Ronnie Cook of Angleton, Carrie Cook of Houston, Lynn Cook of Houston, Stacy Cook of Austin, Robert Cook Jr. of Houston, Cliff Cook of Sugar Land; three great-grandchildren, John Cook, Samantha Cook, Evan Cook, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 219 N. Arcola, Angleton,  Texas.

DOROTHY HELEN ROLLWAGE MOORE

Dorothy Helen Rollwage Moore died in Lake Jackson,  Texas, on Monday, January 26, 2004.

She had been ill for a number of years with Parkinson’s Disease.

She was born on July 21, 1931, in Dallas,  Texas, to Oliver C. and Thelma P. Rollwage.

Both parents; her brother, John; her husband, Bob C. Moore, predeceased her.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, William A. Rollwage and wife, Laura, of Lake Jackson; their children, Claire Louise Haskins, Laura Susan Engel and Janet Diane Herber; her brother John’s wife, Lucille; and their children, Gary Lynn Rollwage and Kevin John Rollwage, and their children; three step-children, and their families.

Following graveside services at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas,  Texas, a memorial service will be held for family and friends at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church, 6000 S. Hampton, Dallas,  Texas.

LORETTA ERNESTINE HUND

Mrs. Loretta Ernestine Hund, age 75, of Medina,  Texas, departed to be with the Lord, Monday, January 26, 2004, at an Odessa hospital.

She was born June 29, 1928, in Hunt,  Texas, to Beal D.  Taylor and Martha T. (Weir) Taylor. On August 28, 1948, she married Fredick Carl Hund in Medina,  Texas.

He preceded her death on December 18, 1997.

Loretta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kerrville. She was a woman of great faith and inspiration and was interested in church mission work and Evangelist missions. She was a music lover and enjoyed all types of music. Loretta also enjoyed working with flowers.

She was a prior resident of Lake Jackson,  Texas, and had lived in Odessa for one year.

She is survived by daughters, Karla Murphy and husband, James W. Murphy, of Odessa, and Molly Lorch and husband, Tom Lorch, of Woodridge, Illinois; son, Paul Hund and wife, Twyla Hund, of Brazoria; sisters, Florine Williams of Medina, Oneida Gallant of Medina and Vivian Lewis of Austin; five grandchildren, Ashley and Alyssa Murphy, Natalie and Wesley Lorch and Amber Smith.

Services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2004, at 6:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Dr. David McFadden.

Interment will be Friday, January 30, 2004, at 10:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio,  Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cowboy Camp Meeting.
