Virgil Martin Spurgeon, 87, of Sweeny, Texas, died on Monday, March 29, 2004, in Sweeny, Texas.
He was born Friday, July 21, 1916, in Bedford, Iowa. He was a member of Frank Phillips Men’s Club.

Wilma I. Wilson Williams, 83, of Humble, Texas, died on Monday, March 29, 2004, in Houston, Texas.
She was born Friday, June 18, 1920, in Markham, Texas, and attended Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.

LILLIAN "ROSE" LINDSAY
Memorial service for Lillian “Rose” Lindsay, age 66, of West Columbia, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. April 3, 2004, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 146 S. 18th Street, with the Reverend Richardson Jr. officiating.
She died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Nairobi Hospital, in Kenya, Africa.
Rose Lindsay was born to Dorothy Gillis as the second of six beautiful children on August 11, 1937. Rose attended Charlie Brown High School and Prairie View College, and soon after married and raised two children. After the end of her 27-year marriage, Rose moved to Africa to begin her career as an exporter of precious stones. Rose passed away in Africa of cancer pursuing her hopes and dreams as a successful business woman.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy, and Thurman Gillis; son, Michael Lindsay; daughter, Gloria Lindsay; brother, Thurman; sisters, Clotea, Marie, Shelly; granddaughter, Carolyn Rose Lindsay.

Leon “Leo” Victor Horky Sr., 82, of Angleton, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Angleton Danbury Medical Center.
Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton with Father Vince Dulock and Father David Zapalac officiating.
Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Horky, Jay Horky, Richard Talesky, Greg Zapalac, Frankie Drury, Charlie Drury and Noel Machac.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leon was born on September 13, 1921, in Yoakum, Texas, to Leo and Mary Horky. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the KJT, American Legion and VFW. He was retired from Dow Chemical and a World War II veteran.
Leon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emma; sons: Leon Jr. and wife, Karen, of Angleton, Ray and wife, Joan, of Needville; Bill and wife, Rhonda, of Angleton; grandchildren, Jennifer Horky and Jeffrey Horky of Angleton, Bobbi Talesky and husband, Richard, of West Columbia, Jay Horky, Josh Horky and Ami Horky, all of Needville, Emily Horky and Wayne Horky of Angleton; great- grandchildren, Charlie Evanicky and Kirby Talesky of West Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Agnes Drury and Mary Merecka; and brothers, Louis Horky, Raymond Horky and Johnny Horky.

Bonnie Williams Thomas of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at her residence.
Bonnie was born in Ratcliff, Texas, on May 17, 1934, to Fred and Alice Vinson Williams. Because she and her late husband loved to fish, they purchased a shrimp boat and shrimped together for some time. Bonnie also loved gardening, playing dominoes, being at the beach and her dogs.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; one brother; and one sister.
Surviving are two sisters, Billie Denton and husband, Bob, of Angleton, Mary Oneta Boyd of Tyler; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2004, in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Carroll Grigsby officiating.
