ASHANTI VIVIANNA STROMAN

Funeral services for Ashanti Vivianna Stroman, 5-month infant of Francis “Lamont” Stroman and Christy Conley of Brazoria, will be Monday, April 5, 2004, at Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria at

1 p.m. with the Rev. Milton Rawles officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.

She died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Sweeny Community Hospital in Sweeny.

She is survived by her mother, Christy Conley of Brazoria; father, Francis “Lamont” Stroman, Brazoria; two brothers, Kavion Conley and Kobe Stroman, Brazoria; sister, Abigail Stroman, Brazoria; grandfathers, Pinkney Robinson Jr., Brazoria, James Edward Conley, West Columbia; grandmothers, Linda Manning (Tony), Lake Jackson, Vivianna Conley, Brazoria; great-grandmothers, Eveline Thomas, Betty Stroman and Juanita Reyes, Brazoria; great-grandfather, Reuben L. Reyes, Brazoria; great-great-grandmothers, Lucy Reyes, Rosenberg and Dora Salazar, Richmond; three uncles, Nathan Conley and Michael Conley, Brazoria, and Tony Manning Jr., Lake Jackson; five aunts, Erica Stroman, Lake Jackson, Kisha Wiley and Samantha Robinson, Brazoria, Sabrina Robinson and Shameka Robinson, West Columbia; and a host of other relatives.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 4, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home.

GEORGE MILLS COLLARD SR.

George Mills Collard Sr., 70, of Richwood, died Thursday, April 1, 2004. He was born November 14, 1933, at Brushy Community, Madison County,  Texas, and grew up in Huntsville,  Texas.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 52-year resident of Brazoria County. He was employed 31-and-a-half years for Dow. George enjoyed picking his guitar with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mills Allen and Nellie Mae (Williamson) Collard, brothers Samuel  Jefferson Collard, Bertie Frank Collard, Claude Melvin Collard and Morris Rhodes Collard.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Middie Irene (Vernon) Collard; children, George Mills Collard Jr., Ronnie Allen Collard and wife, Sherryl Ann, Deborah Danette Julian and husband, Larry Dale, Michael Wayne Collard and wife, Sherri Lynn, and Jeffery Kenneth Collard. He leaves seven granddaughters, two grandsons and one great-grandson.

He is also survived by sisters, Delie Gideon and Effie Ann “Patsy” Spann; and brothers Alfred Henry Collard and wife, Mildred, and Johnie Joe Collard and wife, Renee.

Funeral services will be at

2 p.m. Tuesday at Gourd Creek Cemetery in New Waverly,  Texas. Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 N. Dixie Dr., Lake Jackson. (979) 297-6464

Services for Hollis M. Forrester, 78, of Brazoria are pending. He died Saturday, March 3, at his residence. Arrangements by Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria.

HOLLIS MICHAEL FORRESTER

Hollis Michael Forrester, “Captain Hollis,” 78, of Oyster Creek, passed away Saturday April 3, 2004, in Brazoria. He was born March 14, 1926, in Jacksonville, Fla.

He has been a resident of the Brazosport area since 1954. He spent his life owning and operating shrimp boats for more than 48 years. He was also associated with  Texas A&M University in its marine research. He owned and operated Forrester Net Shop. Hollis also was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his children, Michael H. Forrester and wife, Maizie, of Brazoria; Jack H. Forrester and wife, Connie, of Grand Bay, Ala.; Madelene D.  Jones and husband, Marlin, of Brazoria; Sandra C. Davis and husband, Johnny, of Angleton; Dorothy R. Miller and husband, Richard, of Lake Jackson; special son, Harold “Bobby” Clemons of New Iberia, La.; sister, Norris Nielson of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and former wife and mother of his five children, Carleen Henshaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Geneva and Cecil Hollis Forrester.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria with Chris Moore and Rodney Coates officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, April 5, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be his four grandsons, Hollis M. Forrester, Jack H. Forrester, Burt M.  Jones and Chad A. Jones; special son, Harold Clemons, and a dear friend, Gary Graham.

BONITA CHILDS

Bonita Childs, 66, of Angleton,  Texas, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services are pending with Baker Funeral Homes of West Columbia.

WINNIE VIRGINIA RIGGINS

Winnie Virginia Riggins, 54, of Sweeny,  Texas, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Sweeny House in Sweeny,  Texas. Funeral services are pending with E. Viola & Son Funeral Home of West Columbia,  Texas.

STANLEY CORNELIUS DAVIDSON JR.

Stanley Cornelius Davidson Jr., age 83, of Lake Jackson,  Texas, died at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson,  Texas, on May 18, 2004. Stanley was born to Stanley C. Sr. and Gertude Wolff Davidson on February 9, 1921, in Glen Flora,  Texas. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Clute,  Texas. He also was a Master Mason and member of Lake  Jackson Lodge 1317 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by Doreen Davidson, his wife of 60 years, and his children, Dr. Irvin and Julie Sabrsula of Lake Jackson, and John and Jill Davidson of Livingston. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Ben and Shelley Davidson of Livingston, Paul and Kelly Davidson of Kingwood, Emily Sabrsula of Houston, Erin Sabrsula of Houston, Danny and Stacey Sabrsula of Waco and Scott Sabrsula of Waco; and his great-grandson, Blake Davidson of Livingston.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-1945. He graduated from the University of  Texas in 1950 with a degree in pharmacy. He was a pharmacist for 43 years, retiring at the age of 72, and was co-owner of Young’s Prescription House in Freeport for many years. After retiring, he became a volunteer with the Brazosport Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, spending many of his volunteer hours in the Emergency Room.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson,  Texas, from 5 to 8 p.m.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 20, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Clute,  Texas.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men’s Sunday School class. Stanley’s church and the hospital were both important to him.

The family requests memorials be made to the Brazosport Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, or Temple Baptist Church of Clute,  Texas, in lieu of flowers.

BERT ANDREW DEARING

Bert Andrew Dearing, 75, of Alvin,  Texas, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Webster,  Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Alvin,  Texas.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Henry Laenen, OM.I., celebrant.

Bert was born May 14, 1929, in Sugar Land,  Texas, and was a resident of Alvin for 25 years. He was a supervisor in the oil industry and a member of the Catholic faith. Bert served in the United States Army during WWII.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lilla Mae Dearing; and brother, Ralph Charles Dearing.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Dearing of Alvin; daughter, Laura Lynn Santangleo of Angleton; son and daughter-in-law, Bryon Lee and Mary Short of Angleton; sisters, Margarget Cozad of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Doris Mae Senior of Missouri City; three grandchildren, Bobby Abshire, Kelly Short and David Short; one great-grandchild, Kuana Abshire; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Dearing, Robert Senior, Bryon Short, Ralph Senior, Alex Perez and Nick Perez.

ALLIE "JO" STEVENSON

Allie “Jo” Stevenson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2004, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born March 30, 1926, in McDade,  Texas, to Thomas Hugh Burke and Cordie Mae Plemmons Burke. She was a longtime resident of Sweeny,  Texas, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sweeny.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, R.R. Stevenson; sister, Mary Coburn and husband, Bill; mother-in-law, Ruby Tilley; children, Randa  Johnson and husband, John, Charlie Stevenson and wife, JoAnn, Jim Stevenson and wife, Kelly, and Shelda Fuoss and husband, John. She had 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Allen Johnson, Rachel Stevenson, Rebekah Stevenson, Kathryn Stevenson, Brandon Stevenson, Sheldon Stevenson, Katie Fuoss, Caroline Fuoss, Claire Fuoss and Kellan Fuoss; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Stevenson, Tyler Head and Noah Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Waylan Burke; sisters, Altha Galyean and Mildred Sims; and twin sister, Allene “Jim” Bryant.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Sweeny,  Texas, with the Rev. Jerl Watkins officiating.

Burial will follow in Sweeny Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia,  Texas.

Pallbearers will be Allen Johnson, Brandon Stevenson, Sheldon Stevenson, Bob Coburn, Gene Hightower and Butch Miller.

Charitable contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Houston, or to the First Baptist Church, Sweeny,  Texas.

FREDDIE LEE WOODS

Funeral services for Freddie Lee Woods, 53, of Weatherford,  Texas, formerly of Angleton,  Texas, are pending with Gardner’s Funeral Home in Angleton,  Texas.

He passed away Friday, May 14, 2004, at his residence.

STANLEY CORNELIUS DAVIDSON JR.

Stanley Cornelius Davidson Jr., age 83, of Lake Jackson,  Texas, died at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson,  Texas, on May 18, 2004. Stanley was born to Stanley C. VIRGIL JAMES RICHARDSON

Virgil James Richardson, 87, of West Columbia,  Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston. He was born on December 14, 1916.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. at Israel Chapel A.M.E. Church, on the corner of  Jackson and Brown Street.

Friends may call on Friday, May 21, 2004, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Israel Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include son, Charles Richardson of Los Angeles, California; brothers, Morris E. Richardson of West Columbia and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Charles S. Richardson of Pearland; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, make contributions to Israel Chapel A.M.E. Building Fund, P.O. Box 161, West Columbia,  Texas 77486, or to the charity of your choice.
