CAMERON JOSEPH HODDER

Cameron Joseph Hodder, 7, of Lake Jackson, passed away May 29, 2004, in Uvalde,  Texas. Cameron was born August 1, 1996, in Lake Jackson,  Texas. He is survived by his mother, Julie Hodder and her fiancé, Chris Land, of Lake Jackson; father, Sean Hodder of Lake Jackson; sister, Lacie Daughrity of Lake Jackson; great-grandmother, Annie Wratislaw of Brazoria; grandparents, Donna Daughrity of Lake Jackson, John L. and Rosemarie Hodder of Lucerne Valley,  Calif.; aunts, April Hodder of Apple Valley,  Calif., Susan Pope of Lucerne Valley,  Calif., Jeff Hodder of Brazoria, James and Theresa Hodder of Clute, Jennifer and husband, Willy, of New York; uncle, Dan and Tina Daughrity of La.; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his No. 1 PeePaw, Frank Daughrity.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Hodder, James Hodder, Rick Fernandez, Michael Land, Randy Smith and Coach Bobby Tosch.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Lake  Jackson with Dr. Hatch officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 N. Dixie Dr., Lake Jackson, (979) 297-6464.

The family would like to request, to all concerned and interested, that donations be made to memorial accounts that are to be set up at  Texas Dow Employees Credit Union at both the Lake  Jackson and Angleton locations, and Chocolate Bayou Credit Union in Alvin.

JOSEPH CARROLL WARD

Joseph C. Ward, 87, of Livingston,  Texas, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004, after a long illness.

Joseph was born in Dawson,  Texas, and raised on a farm near Olustee,  Oklahoma. He met and married Thelma Naomi Metheny in Altus,  Oklahoma, on April 4, 1936. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Southwestern Bell after 38 years of service and was a member of the Church of Christ in Livingston. He believed in labor union and spent a lot of time and effort to see that the Communication Workers of America was formed. He served as President of Local 6127 in Corsicana for 15 years and served on the Board of Directors of Local 6222 in Houston for 12 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma; two sons, Jimmie C. Ward of Clute and Kenneth Ward of Holbrook, Arizona; brother, Clarence E. Ward and wife, Ramona, of Universal City; sister, Mary Lydia King of Australia; five grandchildren, Mike Ward of Holbrook, Arizona, Julie LaDawn Hancock and husband, Jed, of Pierce, Arizona, Cheryl Dean of Brazoria, Shannon Murray of Clute and Joel Carroll Ward and wife, Dana, of Lake Jackson; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Elvis Clarence Ward.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute,  Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Stroud Funeral Home.

BETTY FRANCES CLOWERS

Betty Frances Clowers, 70 of Brazoria, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed from this life into the next life on Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike Nettles and Edna Nettles-Moon; her sisters, Patricia Callaway and Mikie Shoopman; and daughter, Wendy Cobb.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Neil Clowers of Brazoria; son, John Neil Clowers Jr of Brazoria; daughter, Sherry David and husband, Joe, of Brazoria; grandson, Ryan Neil David of San Antonio; granddaughters, Beth Hanak and husband, Mark; Mary Neisig and husband, Bryan, all of Brazoria; great grandchildren, Zachary Dodds, Cameron Hanak, Abbiegail Neisig, Elizabeth Neisig and Nathaniel Neisig, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty had numerous close friends who helped the family with their support and prayers during this trying time. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Liem Bui, his son; Dr. Khan Bui and Betty’s wonderful ICU nurse, Donna.

Betty’s life and spirit will be honored in a Memorial service on Friday, June 4, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria with Deacon Jimmy Smith officiating.

ERMA FAYE FRENCH

Erma Faye French, 62, of West Columbia,  Texas, died on Monday, May 31, 2004, in Houston,  Texas.

She was born Monday, December 1, 1941, in East Columbia.

She was a lifelong area resident, worked for Garrison Telephone Company and Centel for over 30 years before retiring. She also worked for Columbia Lakes for 12 years.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in West Columbia, with the Reverend Dave Barclay officiating.

Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at McAdams Cemetery in Huntsville,  Texas.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Leroy “Tex” French of West Columbia; mother, Elsie McAdams of West Columbia; daughters, Debbie Howe and husband, Chuck, of Sweeny, Sharon Williams and husband, Donald, of West Columbia; brother, Billy McAdams and wife, Carmen, of Big Piney, Wyoming; sister, Marjorie Sebesta and husband, Leon, of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Devon and Derek Shaw, Cole Harrison, and Bret Williams; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Trey Garza; stepsons, Mike French of West Columbia and Curt Lannen of Halletsville; step daughters, Caleen Moffett of Wharton, Cindy Laine of Austin, and Cheri Geserick of West Columbia.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bill McAdams.

Pallbearers will be Mike French, Gilbert Garza, Chuck Howe, Patrick McGaughey, Leon Sebesta and Todd Sebesta.

JAMES RAY ARLITT

Infant James Ray Arlitt died on Monday, May 31, 2004, at the Angleton-Danbury Hospital in Angleton.

He was born Sunday, May 30, 2004, in Angleton,  Texas, to William Ray and Treba Bonner Arlitt.

Survivors include his parents; twin brother, William James Ray; sisters, Beverly and Nichoel Wood, all of Old Ocean; grandparents, James Bonner and Dale Wheeler, both of Brazoria, Fritz and Becky Arlitt of Alvin; and Keith and Pam Blades of Old Ocean; great grandparents, Treba Bonner of Brazoria, Rex and Norma Lee of Dallas, Bill Arlitt of Bay City, and Jim and Jan Reddoch of Old Ocean; and great-great grandmother, Irene Watkins of Old Ocean.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck with the Reverend Dr. Earl Breazeale officiating.

Pallbearers will be James Bonner and Jim Reddoch.

RAMIRO PEDRAZA JR.

Ramiro Pedraza Jr., 17-month-old infant son of Ramiro and Rebecca Pedraza Sr. of Angleton,  Texas, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2004, in a Houston hospital.

Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, in the Angleton Babyland Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday, June 2, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton,  Texas.

Ramiro was born January 5, 2003, in Galveston,  Texas. He is survived by his parents; sister, Graciela F. Pedraza; grandfather, Ruben Pedraza Sr., all of Angleton; uncles, Ruben Pedraza and family from Clute, Miguel Pedraza and family from Freeport; special friend, Jorge Alcantar and family of Freeport, and numerous other relatives.
