Rosary services for Carmen Puga Bernal, 93, of Andrews will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Rev. Bernard Gully, officiating.

She died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at her residence in Andrews.

She was born July 28, 1911 in Colorado City to Juan Puga and Antonia Padilla Puga. She married Cruz Bernal, Sr. in September 1924 in Colorado City. She moved to Odessa in 1945 from Colorado City, and then to Andrews in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 29, 1992; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers.

She is survived by her daughter: Betty Bernal of Andrews; 4 sons: Jim Bernal of Tomah, Wisconsin, Raymond Bernal, Tony Bernal, Sr., and Cruz Bernal, Jr., all of Odessa; 21 grandchildren including granddaughters: Julie Hernandez, Maria Bernal, and Margie Garcia, all of Andrews, and Belinda Tercero of Austin; several great grandchildren including Joseph Salazar of Andrews; and several great great grandchildren.

NORBERT LEE WIERWILLE

Norbert Wierwille, 77, of Andrews died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at his residence.

VICTOR FLOYD MOSLEY
December 9th, 2004

Memorial services for Victor Floyd Mosley, 45, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Andrews with Rev. Dean Williamson, Pastor, officiating.

Cremation was under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

He died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at his residence in Andrews.

He was born November 11, 1959 in Kermit to Jack Mosley and Patsy Vivian Lindsey Mosley. He was a graduate of Andrews High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1977 until his retirement in 1997. He was a volunteer for Red Cross and they presented him with a Presidential Honor for Outstanding Service from President Clinton. He received numerous medals for outstanding service from the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Debra Mosley on February 14, 1981 in Frankel City. He moved to Andrews in 1997 from Yuma, Arizona. He had also worked for Basic Energy in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his father on January 3, 2002.

He is survived by his wife: Debra Mosley of Andrews; daughter: Jessica Mosley of Midland; mother: Patsy Mosley of Andrews; 2 brothers: Willie Mosley of McCamey and John Mosley of Midland; and sister: Lisa Mosley of Andrews.

SARAH TOMPKINS
November 28th, 2004

Graveside services for Sarah Tompkins, 84, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 4, 2004 in the Andrews North Cemetery with Dan Galloway of Andrews and Bishop Love Hambrick of Odessa officiating.

She died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Van Buren, Arkansas.

She was born on October 13, 1920 in Lamar,  Oklahoma to John Carroll Sanders and Mary Louise Robison Sanders. She married Lawrence Glover "Booty" Tompkins on December 24, 1941 in Chickasha,  Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1964 from Patricia,  Texas. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1996. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son: Larry Gene Tompkins in 1989.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Sarah Sue Able of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and Janie Arnold of San Antonio; 2 sons: Chris Tompkins of Andrews and Jimmy Tompkins of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 3 brothers: Louis Sanders of Maybank,  Texas, Bill Sanders of Aaron,  Oklahoma, and Henry Sanders of Rush Springs,  Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren..com.

JOEL R. LEWIS
November 26th, 2004

Services for Joel Lewis, 92, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 29, 2004 in Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Beard. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

Joel died Friday, November 26, 2004 in Andrews. He was born on February 2, 1912 in Artesia, New Mexico. Joel married Joyce Hinds on June 1, 1935 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They moved to Andrews in 1950 from Artesia. Joel was a pumper for J. Cleo Thompson, he retired in 1979. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Wife Joyce, Andrews; Son James "Jimmy" and wife Connie Lewis of Ottawa, KS; Two Grandchildren; Rhonda and husband Rick Alexander of Brownfield, TX and Richy Lewis of Odessa, TX ; Five Great-Grandchildren.

C.C. SHORTES
November 16th, 2004

C.C. "Sonny" Shortes, 90, of Andrews passed away Tuesday November 16, 2004 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday November 18, 2004 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Ben Chenault, and Rev. Jason Connor will officiate.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 3:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Mr. Shortes was born August 25, 1914 in Big Spring. He married Sarah Blagrave May 5, 1934 in Howard County,  Texas. She passed away in June of 1990. He married Alta Garrett December 2, 1991 in Andrews. He was a Farmer for many years in Howard and Andrews Counties. He loved to hunt and really loved to fish. He also enjoyed a good game of 42. He was member of the Assembly of God Church in Andrews.

He is survived by: Wife- Alta Garrett Shortes of Andrews; Two Sons- Jarrell and his wife Sara Shortes of Andrews; Calvert and his wife Shirley of Andrews; One Sister- Shirley Owens of Dallas,  Texas; 7- Grandchildren and 13- Great-Grandchildren.

JOE DAN TOLAND
November 6th, 2004

Funeral services for Joe Dan Toland, 42, of Andrews will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson, Pulpit Minister, officiating.

Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.

Family will receive friends on Monday, November 8, 2004 at McNett Funeral Home from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

He died Saturday, November 6, 2004 in Austin.

He was born April 5, 1962 in Plainview. He was raised in Lubbock and graduated from Coronado High School in 1980. He graduated from University of North  Texas with a degree in journalism and received his teacher certification from  Texas Tech University. He taught school at Lubbock High School and Dunbar Junior High, where he also was director of the after school program in Lubbock. He had worked as: sports writer for the Ardmore Daily News and the Denton Record Chronicle, business editor for Bryan-College Station Eagle, and copy editor for Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. He married Julie Harris on June 14, 1997 in Lubbock. He moved to Andrews in 2001 from Lubbock. He was a journalism teacher at Andrews High School. He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife: Julie Toland of Andrews; son: Jarrett Toland of Andrews; parents: Jack and Delores Toland of Lubbock; 2 sisters: Jackie Geer of Fairfield,  Texas and Joani Davis of Overbrook,  Oklahoma; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

LOLA HARDIN NIX
November 1st, 2004

Funeral services for Lola Hardin Nix, 87, formerly of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 5, 2004 at the First Baptist Chapel in Andrews with Dr. H.A. Hanks of Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 4, 2004 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

She died Monday, November 1, 2004 at Mariner Healthcare of Cypress Wood in Houston.

She was born September 9, 1917 in Mitchell County,  Texas to Harley Dallas Mearse and Maude Richardson Mearse. She married Odis Hardin on July 9, 1937 in Loraine and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1962. She moved to Andrews in 1943 from Loraine. She married Dennis Nix on November 11, 1964 in Andrews, and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1989. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1998. While in Andrews, she had served on the Andrews Senior Citizen Center Board and had managed several restaurants in Andrews. She was a member at First Baptist Church in Andrews, where she was very active in the church and in the Victory Singers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter: Janette  Johnson on October 4, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter: Sandi Whitworth of Houston; sister: Gwindola Roberts of Tulsa,  Oklahoma; 2 step-daughters: Coza Nix Bostick of Lehigh Acres, Florida and Millie McDonald of Wimberley; step-son: Drexell Nix of Lehigh Acres, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

MARVIN H. "DREAMY" McNETT
November 1st, 2004

Funeral services for Marvin H. "Dreamy" McNett, 91, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 4, 2004 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Dr. Jimmy Braswell, Home Hospice Chaplain of Odessa, Rev. Dean Williamson, Pastor of Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Andrews, and Rev. Don Laird, Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Caldwell, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

He died Monday, November 1, 2004 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez State Veterans Home in Big Spring.

He was born August 22, 1913 in Ponca City,  Oklahoma to Edgar Russell McNett and Alice Cordilia Punches McNett and was raised in Webb City,  Oklahoma. He married Mary Irene Kelly on September 18, 1934 in Newkirk,  Oklahoma, and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. He served in the 195th Signal Corp in the US Army during WWII. He had lived in Ponca City,  Oklahoma, Borger, Odessa, Hobbs, NM and moved to Andrews in 1946. He worked as an equipment operator for Phillips from 1941-1972, and was a member of the Philresters Club in Andrews. He was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents: and 3 sisters: Marion McNett, Ada McNett, and Effie Keeler.

He is survived by his wife: Mary McNett of Andrews; 3 sons: Eddie McNett and wife Betty of Andrews, Dean McNett and wife Darla of Andrews, Ken McNett and wife Debbie of Tulsa,  Oklahoma; brother: Richard McNett and wife Imogene of Davis,  Oklahoma; sister: Edna Grace of Braman,  Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren: Ora Lee Schiele and husband Wayne of Watertown, New York, Brian McNett and wife Veronica of Andrews, and Becky  Johnson and husband Rex of Andrews; 4 step grandchildren: Bobby Mishler of College Station, Robert LaRue of Uhland, Don Paul LaRue of Andrews, and Denise LaRue Wilson of Midland; 6 great grandchildren; and 8 step great grandchildren.

BETTY FREEMAN
October 27th, 2004

Betty Joyce Freeman, 74, of Vancouver,  Washington passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at her home.

Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Northside Baptist Church in Vancouver.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2004 in the Andrews Old Cemetery in Andrews,  Texas. Rodney Compton will officiate.

Mrs. Freeman was born July 27, 1930 in Lockney,  Texas. She married Harold Freeman on December 22, 1947. He passed away February 28, 1995.

She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Vancouver. She enjoyed traveling and especially spending time with her friends and family. She also loved animals, ducks, turtles, and birds.

She is survived by: Son-Harold Freeman of Beaverton, Oregon; Daughter-Becky Martin of Boring, Oregon; Brother-A.C. Benton of Channel View,  Texas and Her Mother- Laura Benton of Andrews,  Texas and 4 Grandchildren.
