Funeral services for Irene Harris, 81, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Doug Kello and Dr. Jeff Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.

She died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at her residence in Andrews.

She was born October 27, 1923 in Winston County, Alabama to Joseph Hurst Teague and Vera Emma Hand Teague. She married Jesse "Son" Harris on November 22, 1941 in Haleyville, Alabama. They moved to Andrews in 1951 from Haleyville. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 2005. She was a homemaker, a member of the Gleaner Sunday School Class and a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Barbara Steward and husband D.J. of Mt. Pleasant, Sandra King and husband Kelly of Monahans, and Michelle Sawyer and husband Mitch of Andrews; 5 sisters: Iva Lee Kidd of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Vernell Morris of Seguin, Edith Jolley of Monahans, Betty Raines of Lake Dallas, and Dean Pearson of Muscle Shoales, Alabama; 1 brother: Travis Teague of Andrews; 7 grandchildren: Teresa Baugh of Mt. Pleasant, Tammie Blount of Pittsburg, Denni Steward of Mt. Vernon, Jacqui Cosper and Jennifer Sullivan of Fort Stockton, Kyle and Kevin Sawyer of Andrews; and 8 great grandchildren: Kayla, Kody, and Kendall French of Mt. Pleasant, Christian, Keldon, and Chloe Cosper of Fort Stockton, and Dalton and Makena Steward of Mt. Vernon.

ANGELA MIRELES MONTONO

Angela "Angie" Mireles Montono, 37, of Greeley, Colorado passed away June 4, 2005 at her home in Greeley. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM Thursday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Ted Short pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Angie was born August 31, 1967 in Andrews,  Texas. She was a homemaker. She grew up in Andrews and has lived in Greeley for the past several years.

She is survived by: 3 Sons- Joe Angel Mireles of Greeley, CO; Hugo Mora of Midland; Danny Ray Mora of Andrews; One Daughter- Dasie Mora of Andrews; Six Brothers- Eusevio Mireles of Granbury, TX; Alolf Mireles of Andrews; Frank Mireles of Greeley, CO; Richard Mireles of Midland; Joe Mireles of Glendale, AZ; Hugo, Mireles of Midland, TX; Three Sisters-Alice Zammoran of Andrews; Mary Anderson of Andrews; and Dora Mireles of Greeley, CO.

JAMES R. HOLDER
May 22, 2005

Services for James R. Holder, 73 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 26, 2005 in Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Don Swindell, Chaplain with Star Hospice and James Beard, Pastor of McKinney Baptist Church of Andrews.

James died in Andrews on Sunday, May 22, 2005. He was born on April 27, 1932 in Winsor, North Carolina. He married Evelyn Louise Cowling on July 21, 1953 in Wichita Falls,  Texas. James was a Baptist; drove a truck for Pride for several years and for Permian; and drove an activity bus for Andrews schools for 4 years. James served in the Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn on June 17, 2004 and a daughter Wilma Southern on May 28, 1981.

Survivors include; daughters; Charlotte Brown, Midland, Debbie Riordan, Porterville, CA, Sandra Tidwell and Tammy O’Bannon both of Andrews, sisters Florene  Jones and Syble Mizzile, both of Winsor, NC; Eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

OPAL CROWE THOMPSON
May 20, 2005

Opal Crowe Thompson, 85, of McAllen and formerly of Andrews, passed away Friday May 20, 2005 at Twinbrook South Nursing Home in McAllen,  Texas.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday May 24, 2005 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

Opal was born October 24, 1919 in Jennings,  Oklahoma. She married Earle Thompson March 23, 1939 in  Oklahoma City,  Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1952 and she lived there until 2000. Her husband preceded her in death in 1984.

She was a File Clerk for Amaco for 30 years from 1952 to 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Andrews, She was one of the founding members of the Victory Singers, she was in the Sweet Adelines, and sang in the church choir, music was her life.

She is survived by: Daughter-Diane Wood of Mission,  Texas; One Brother-Jim Crowe of Alamonte, FL; Grandchildren; Rene Morgan of Hickory Creek,  Texas; and Larry Wood of Corinth, TX; Great-Grandchildren; Jeremy and  Taylor Morgan of Hickory Creek and Madison and Lanie Wood of Corinth,  Texas.

ALEX W. SHAFFER
May 19, 2005

Memorial services for Alex W. Shaffer, 67 of Andrews will be 4:30 PM Saturday, May 21, 2005, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Riley, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa,  Texas. Cremation was under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Alex died Thursday, May 19, 2005 in Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews. He was born on July 21, 1937 in Erath County,  Texas. He married Ginger Holden on January 1, 1959 in Comanche,  Texas. Alex owned and operated Andrews Flight Service for several years before retirement.

Survivors include: Wife Ginger, Andrews, daughter Debra Guthrie and husband David, Odessa, brother John Shaffer, Midland, sister Bonnie Palmer, Dublin.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Vera Shaffer, a son Mark Allan Shaffer in 1996, brother Odell Shaffer in 2003 and a sister Juanita Clyde in 1989.

WANDA MAE CARR
May 18, 2005

Funeral services for Wanda Mae Carr, 84, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 21, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Steve Long of Second Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.

She died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.

She was born June 6, 1920 in Lone Wolf,  Oklahoma to Harry Vanner Lantz and Allie Mae Chester Lantz. She moved to Andrews in 1965 from  Oklahoma City. She cleaned homes in Andrews. She was a past member of Bible Baptist Church in Andrews, where she also ran the nursery for 20 years.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Brenda Joyce Lemmons of Denver, Colorado and Shawna Lea Criner of Andrews; 2 sons: Dewey Lynn Carr of Burke, Virginia and David Lance Carr of Denison; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

JULIAN TURNBOW
May 17, 2005

Julian Turnbow, 80, of Andrews died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrerws.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ted Short will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery.

Julian was born November 16, 1924 in Lorane,  Texas. In 1928, at the age of three, he and his family moved to Andrews. He served in the US Army during World War II. He worked in the oilfield for many years in West  Texas. He married Lou Ann Westfall April 5, 1963 in Andrews. He was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church and loved to serve as a greeter there. He enjoyed working in his garden trying to make his roses bloom. He liked to fix thing and reading his Bible. He loved sports; and the Andrews Mustangs and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorites. He also had a bit of a sweet tooth and loved chocolate pie, and he loved living in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four Brothers.

He is survived by: Wife Lou Ann Turnbow of Andrews; Four Sons- Gary Vaughn of Corpus Christi; Gene Young of Austin, Brad Young of Andrews; Charlie Young of Andrews; Three Daughters- Linda Sue Rumbaugh of Andrews; Marion Sheffield of Andrews; and Martha Bryant of Andrews; One Sister- Lola Haller of Mason,  Texas ; 19 Grandchildren and 14- Great-Grandchildren

AGNES NELSON
May 13, 2005

Funeral services for Agnes Gertrude Nelson, 92, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Seagraves with Rev. Ed Clark, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves.

She died May 13, 2005 at her residence in Andrews.

She was born September 10, 1912 in Purcell,  Oklahoma to Silas Hawkins and Mary Wilkey Hawkins. She married Albert Lee Nelson on September 4, 1934 in Decatur,  Texas. She had lived in Seagraves and Seminole. She had worked as a nurse and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seagraves.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; her son: Robert Lee Nelson in 1995; her daughter: Yvonne Workman in 2004; her parents; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her 4 daughters: Shirley Alcorn of Conroe, Betty Wooten of Odessa, Shirley Locke of Bronte, and Sharon Digby of Rockland; 1 son: Ronnie Nelson of Jasper, Alabama; 4 sisters: Alice Graham of Michigan, Orlean Farris, Billie Murray, and Gracie Calhoon, all of Sacramento, California; 38 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; and 20 great great grandchildren.

WILLIE 'JAMES' BROWN
November 25, 2005

Funeral services for Willie "James" Brown, 64, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 28. 2005 at the Andrews Church of Christ. Officiating will be Pulpit Minister Mark Wilson and Billie Lemons of Lubbock. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Willie died Friday, November 25, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He was born October 1, 1941 in Lamesa,  Texas. He married Elma Jean Smith on June 23, 1963 in Lamesa. Willie was a field operator for UNOCAL and retired in 2000. Willie was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Edward Brown and Floydie Collins Brown, a brother Albert Brown and two sisters, Lillie Brown and Elnora LeGrand.

Survivors include; Wife Jean Brown, Andrews; 2 Sons, James Brown, Ephrata, Penn. And Jerald Brown, Honey Grove,  Texas, 1 daughter, Chavela Brown, Lubbock,  Texas, 3 Sisters; Barbara Ann Edwards, Charlene Brown both of Lamesa,  Texas and Merry L. Askew, San Antonio,  Texas, 3 Brothers; Billy Wayne Williams, Lamesa,  Texas, Benny Carl Williams and Tony Williams both of Houston,  Texas; seven grandchildren; Amber L. Brown, Courtney L. Brown, Jerrell R. Brown, Devarous L. Finney, Dendrick Finney, Tanaya Brown and Tishia Rivera.

BILL OGDEN
November 18, 2005

Funeral services for Bill Ogden, 78, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2005 at the Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rodney B. Peacock and Rev. Bob Zap officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

Bill passed away on Friday, November 18, 2005 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born October 5, 1927 in Amarillo to Otis Ogden and Dixie Yantis Ogden. He attended Andrews High School til his sophomore year. His parents began to follow Defense Work in 1941, and he graduated from Pleasant Grove, Utah High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during the Occupation of World War II in Seoul, Korea. He returned to Andrews in 1947 and worked at the Phillips Fullerton Plant for a year. He graduated from  Texas Tech University in 1952 with a B.S. degree in Petroleum Geology, and worked as a geologist for 10 years moving around the country. He moved back to Andrews in 1962 and assumed ownership and operation of the business his father left, Ogden Paint Service, which in 1972 was incorporated into OPSCO, Incorporated. He worked with his son Patrick in his business, Ogden Sprinkler Systems, Inc. of Midland, after retiring from OPSCO. He served 3 years as a director of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce; served 10 years on the Permian General Hospital Board; served on boards and committees for the Boy and Girl Scouts; and served as a Deacon and Elder at the Andrews Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Otis Eugene in 1939.

He is survived by his 1 son: Patrick Eugene Ogden and wife Roxanne of Midland; 2 daughers: Teresa Ann Hart and husband Don of Midland and Sheila Ann Fernandez and husband Rene of Bonham; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Ogden, Lane Ogden Corby Ogden, Lisann Fernandez, Gavin Fernandez, Donnie Hart and Kayla Hart and 1 great grandchild Evan Hart.

AILEEN MORRIS
November 18, 2005

Funeral services for Aileen Morris, 80, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the First Baptist Chapel with Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

Aileen passed away on Friday, November 18, 2005 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.

She was born November 6, 1925 in Wellington to Lee C. Vaughan and Maude Ray Smart Vaughan. She graduated from Pampa High School and married Jack Newton Morris on December 24, 1944 in Pampa. They moved to Andrews in 1953 from Pampa. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews and active in the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Victory Singers. She was a homemaker and mother of four. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on October 24, 1990; son, Greg in 1993, and her parents.

Aileen is survived by her 2 daughters: Suzan Munn and husband Jimmy of Big Spring and Debe Cornejo and husband Ruben of Andrews; son: David Morris and partner Duane of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Home Hospice, 803 North Main Street, Andrews,  Texas 79714.

SAMMY McNEELY
November 17, 2005

Services for Sammy McNeely, 76 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2005 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ted Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.

Sammy died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. He was born on October 13, 1929 in Hawley,  Texas. He married Margaret L. West on February 20, 1952 in Lovington, NM. Sammy worked for Kerr-McGee as a drilling superintendent and also for Star Pump. He retired in 1995. Margaaret preceded him in death on February 15, 1987.

Survivors include; son Kenneth Price, Lawton,  Oklahoma a daughter Ann Swaim, Winkleman, AZ; brother C.B. "Jack" McNeely, Lubbock,  Texas, sisters Mary Sipe, San Angelo,  Texas and Betty Davis, Lubbock,  Texas. Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother M.W. "Mack" McNeely preceded him Sammy in death in 2005.
