EUGENE BROWN
October 16, 2006

Eugene Brown, 78, of Andrews passed away Sunday October 16, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.

Funeral servicces will be 2:00 PM Saturday October 21, 2006 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Joddie Garrett of Kermit, Rev. Julius Brooks of Midland and Rev. Bennie Andreson of Canyon will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born June 24, 1928 in Copeland,  Texas. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves,  Texas. He served in the US Army. He married Dorthy Moore January 10, 1954 in Midland,  Texas. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He loved to play the guitar, he played in several bands over the years. He had played with Willie Nelson and Ike and Tina Turner.

He was preceded in death by three sons, his parents and one brother.

He is survived by: His wife; Dorthy Brown of Andrews, three sons; Gary Brown of Eunice, NM, Aaron Brown of Andrews and Curtis Brown of Odessa, two daughters; Mary McCain of Andrews and Zelda Brown of MArble Falls,  Texas; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

LUCILA A. MARTINEZ
October 16, 2006

Rosary services for Lucila A. Martinez, 59, of Andrews will be 7:00 PM Thursday, October 19, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2006 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Rev. Francis X. Frey, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.

She passed away on Monday, October 16, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

She was born September 8, 1947 in Rio Bravo, Mexico to Felix Arriazola and Francisca Perez Arriazola. She married Natalio L. Martinez on August 29, 1969 in Rio Bravo, Mexico. They moved to Andrews from Mexico in 1970. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady Or Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Juan De Dios Martinez in 1969; daughter: Ema Martinez in 2005; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Mirsa Trevino and husband Juan of Andrews and Mia Martinez of Andrews; 4 sons: Gilberto Martinez and wife Laurie, Felix Martinez and wife Jaurene, Cesar Martinez, and Morgan Martinez, all of Andrews; 3 sisters: Gregoria, Graciela, and Maria Arriazola, all of Mexico; 3 brothers: Antonio Arriazola of Amarillo and Pedro and Antonio Chico Arriazola of Mexico; 7 grandchildren: Samantha, Larissa, Arianna, Natalie, Marcus, Damian, and Gilberto Hector Natalio.

Funeral services for G.C. "Pete" Taylor, 80, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with James Griffin of First Baptist Church and Rev. Bryan  Johnson of Home Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM.

He passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Willow Hill Assisted Living Facility in Andrews.

He was born on June 11, 1926 in Lydia,  Texas to Farris D.  Taylor and Gladys Griggs Taylor. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Geneva Catherine  Jackson on June 28, 1946 in Dublin. They moved to Odessa in 1946 and then to Andrews in 1954. He worked as a pumper for Texaco from 1954-1986. He had been a part-time barber at several different shops in Andrews. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 4 sisters.

He is survived by his wife: Geneva  Taylor of Andrews; 1 son: Lynn  Taylor and wife Jamie of Longview; 2 daughters: Cathy Hughes and husband Tom of College Station and Sheron Westmoreland and husband Larry of Eunice, New Mexico; 2 brothers: Morris  Taylor of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Bill  Taylor of Andrews; 3 sisters: Faye Pool and Helen Palmer of Brownwood and Doris Bryan of Santa Anna; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

PAULA JANE WOODS LAIRD
October 8, 2006

Paula Jane (Woods) Laird, 56, of Caldwell, the wife of Rev. Don Laird, died October 8, 2006 in Bryan,  Texas.

Paula was born March 8, 1950 in Fairfax,  Oklahoma, the daughter of Virgil Glen & Marie (Gentzel) Woods. She was a graduate of Frank Phillips Junior College and Southwestern Assemblies of God University. On December 29, 1972, Paula and Don Laird were married in Borger,  Texas. Blessed with pefect pitch, a beautiful voice and the ability to bring a piano to life with her special touch, Paula supported Don’s ministry through music over the years. Paula was a teacher’s aide at Caldwell Intermediate School. Don and Paula pastored First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. They moved to Caldwell from Andrews.

Paula’s family includes her husband, Rev. Don Laird; her daughters and son-in-law: Tonya Laird-Carvin and Tamra & Matthew Ray and her grandchildren: Dylan Ray, Ethan Ray and Brittany Carvin, all of Caldwell. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill & Jean  Woods of Enid,  Oklahoma and Roger & Terri  Woods of  Oklahoma City,  Oklahoma. Also surviving are her parents-in-law:Donald and Dorothy Laird of Artesia, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 9:00 AM in Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell,  Texas. The family will be present to receive callers between 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening.

The funeral service will be in the First Assembly of God Church, 1206 West 12th St. (corner of 12th and Banks) at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 with Rev. Don Laird officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in the Providence community of Burleson County. Serving as pallbearers will be Robbie Chmelar, Joe Addison, Thomas Nelson, Todd Huddelston, Paul Martin and Danny Norman.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family asks that donations in Paula’s name and memory be directed to First Assembly of God in Caldwell.

NORMA LEE HYDE
October 5, 2006

Services for Norma Lee Hyde, 62 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Saturday October 7, 2006 at Grace Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Ted Short, pastor. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

Norma passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006 at her residence in Andrews. She was born on March 26, 1944 in Marion County, Alabama. She married Eugene Hyde on July 5, 1969 at Guin, Alabama. Norma worked for Kirby West and several other places in Andrews before retirement. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene, Andrews; daughters Linda Ruiz and Alice Hernandez both of Andrews, Lora Bray of Sweetwater; son Bobby Hyde, Bolder, Colorado; brothers, James Howard Westbrook, Andrews and Eugene "Winky" Westbrook, Windfield, Alabama; sisters Betty Barnett, Windfield, Alabama, Dorothy Arnett and Tommie Lou Markum both of Brilliant, Alabama, six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A Grandson Zachary Neil Hyde preceded her in death in 1989.

BEVERLY JEAN ABBOTT
October 4, 2006

Jean Abbott, 76, of Odessa passed away Wednesday October 4, 2006 at her home in Odessa.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Andrews North Cemetery in Andrews. Marcos Zuniga of Odessa will officiate.

Jean was born April 15, 1930 in San Angelo,  Texas. She married Lewis Abbott September 14, 1948 in San Angelo. They moved to Odessa in 1951. Jean was a Teacher and Coach for many years in the Ector County Independent School District, She taught at Bonham Jr. High School and Goliad Elementary School. She was an avid golfer and was a member and past president of the Permian Basin Ladies Golf Association. She won the City Championship several times. She loved her family and Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Abbott, in 2005 and a brother David  Jones in 1995.

She is survived by one son,Bruce Abbott of Odessa and his Daughter  Taylor of Las Angeles, California; friend,Kathy Casey of Odessa; one daughter,Carole Watts and husband Dusty and thier son Seth all of Lubbock; two sisters, Rhonda Varley of Dallas and Zachie Nichols of Aurora, Colorado.

JOHN A. DUFFY, SR.
September 26, 2006

Funeral services for John A. Duffy, Sr., 80, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Northcrest Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Harvey Enriquez, Pastor, of Andrews and Rev. Ron Ragland of Hobbs, New Mexico officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

He passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He was born on July 5, 1926 in Miles,  Texas to Pat Duffy and Addie Rose Gotcher Duffy. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He married Audra Lavern Duffy on February 3, 1948 in Andrews and they lived in Andrews from 1947-1948. He worked as a drilling superintendent for Superior Oil Company for 40 years, which took them all over the country. They moved back to Andrews from the Phillipines in 1976. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Andrews Country Club. He was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife: Lavern Duffy of Andrews; 1 son: John Duffy, Jr. and wife Mary Jane of Odessa; 1 brother: Darrell Duffy of Cameron,  Louisiana; 1 sister: Faye Southern of Andrews; 1 granddaughter: Carrie O'Neil and husband Cory of Flowermound, Oregon; and 2 great grandchildren: Jordynn and Logan O'Neil of Flowermound, Oregon.

HUBERT D. WILSON
September 25, 2006

Hubert D. Wilson 73, of Andrews passed away Monday September 25, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Andrews West Cemetery. Rev. Dwayne Wheat of Big Spring,  Texas will officiate. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson was born March 12, 1933 in Stonewall County,  Texas. He lived in Lubbock for several years and was a diesel mechanic for Rip Griffin Truck Stop until he retired in 1988, and then moved to Andrews. He also lived at Lake Thomas and Lamesa before moving back to Andrews last December.
He was a Baptist and he loved to fish, play dominoes and checkers. He was preceded in death by his Son - Randy Wilson in 1995, and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by: Two brothers - Troy Wilson of New Deal,  Texas and Raymond Wilson of Meadow,  Texas; Two sisters - Orlena Boydston of Jayton,  Texas and Mary Lou Spears of Alvin,  Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

KENNETH V. MOORHEAD
September 20, 2006

Kenneth V. Moorhead, 81, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Acton Cemetery near Granbury.

Kenneth was born September 7, 1925 in Eldorado,  Oklahoma. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Emma Gebert on August 24, 1959 in San Francisco, California. Kenneth was a Sea Captain for 30 years and sailed Oil Tanker Ships all over the world for Standard Oil Company. He moved to Andrews in 1979 from California and farmed around the Seminole area. He loved the sea, his farm land, loved to watch CNN, and other news programs. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife-Emma Moorhead in 1976; sisters- Lou Boyd, Benita Price Parish; and a nephew- Robby Churchill.

He is survived by his daughter - Jeanette Moorhead of San Francisco, CA; 1 sister - Omita Flowers of Chicago, Illinois, nephews - William Price and his wife Paralee of Andrews; Charles Zethreaus, Roy Zethreaus, and Mack Churchhill, all of Ft. Worth; great niece - Tammie Cook of Andrews.

CAROL A. SEALE
September 20, 2006

Rosary services for Carol A. Seale, 64, of Andrews will be 7:00 PM Thursday, September 21, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2006 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Rev. Bernard Gully, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.

She passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at her residence in Andrews.

She was born on March 3, 1942 in Wichita Falls to Elbert Carlton Crow and Esta Ethelynn Parks Crow. She married Buddy Seale on December 19, 1959 in Vernon. They moved to Andrews in 1978 from Fort Stockton. She had worked for J. Cleo Thompson Oil Company as a secretary since 1978. She was a hard worker, perfectionist, great financial manager, loyal and very giving, enjoyed playing bingo, and was a prankster. She had been involved in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fort Stockton while living there. She was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy, on September 17, 2002; twin sons: Charles Keith and Buddy Carlton Seale in 1972; and her parents.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Carla Gentry and husband David of Midland and Terry Seale of Big Spring; 1 sister: JoLynda McDonald of Scottland,  Texas; 1 brother: Lester Crow of Dumont, Colorado; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Fletcher, Mark Morgan, Tareh Kratz, Cody Bryant, and Lindy Mercer; and 3 great grandchildren: Aubri, Chayna, and Charles Fletcher.

Memorials may be sent to Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 NE Avenue K, Andrews,  Texas 79714.

SERAPIO S. FRANCO
September 13, 2006

Rosary services for Serapio S. Franco, 90, of Andrews will be 7:00 PM Friday, September 15, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.

He passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

He was born November 14, 1915 in Portales,  Texas to Jesus Franco and Fausta Sanchez Franco. He married Refugio Carrasco on October 5, 1944 in Ojinaga, Mexico. They lived in McCamey, Crane, and moved to Andrews 1989. He was a rancher, farmer, and had worked for  Texas Department of Transporation in McCamey. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 4, 2002; his parents; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.

He is survived by his 1 daughter: Delma Franco Gonzales and husband E.L. of Andrews; Granddaughter That He Raised: Priscilla Franco Guerrero of Bacliff; 3 sons: Paul Franco and wife Sueann of Odessa, Angel Franco and wife Lupita of Midland, and Silvino Franco and wife Ester of Midland; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
