June 27, 2007

Services for Arnold L. Clark, 77 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Calvary Baptist Church, officiating will be Rev. Bill Melton, pastor and Sam Jones. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Arnold passed away at his home
Wednesday, June 27, 2007. He was born on January 16, 1930 in Rossville, Georgia. He married Judy J. Garrison on December 9, 1978 in Andrews. Arnold was a brick mason for many years, he also was a constable for eight years and was still a reserve deputy for Andrews County. Arnold was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include, wife; Judy of Andrews, daughters; Vivian Chastain of Dallas, Cathy Ammons of Palestine,  Texas, Joann  Jackson of Burley, Idaho and Carla Mitchell of Andrews, sons; Allen Clark and David Clark both of Burley, Idaho and David Schroeder of New Braunfels,  Texas, sisters; Wanda Oglesby and Joyce Crabtree both of Rossville, Georgia, eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

DAYANRA EULALIA RHOADES
June 26, 2007

Dayanara Eulalia Rhoades, the Infant baby girl of Coral Ortiz and Daniel Rhoades, was still born June 26, 2007 at Permian Regional Medical Cneter.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday June 28, 2007 at Andrews North Cemetery Babyland. Catarino Juaqes, II, will officiate. Burial will follow in Babyland of the Andrews North Cemetery nder the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Dayanara Eulalia is survived by, her parents, Daniel Rhoades and Coral Ortiz of Andrews, one sister, Destiny Alexis Rhoades of Andrews, Grandparents, Earl Rhoads of Andrews, and Neives Garza of Mexico, Great Pand Parent Nora Bass of Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eulalia Rhoades in 1997.

ANGEL HERRERA
June 25, 2007

Services for Angel Herrera, 56 of Lubbock, will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 28, 2007 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, officiating will be Father Bernard Gulley. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be in McNett Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 27, 2007.

Angel passed away in Lubbock Monday, June 25, 2007. He was born on May 31, 1951 in Durango, Mexico. He was self employed, he owned a scrap metal company. Angel was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include, sons; Sergio Dominguez and Jose Angel Herrera, both of Lake Station, IN, daughters; Claudia Horan of West Lafayette, IN, Amanda Herrera of Lake Station, IN, brothers; Felipe Herrera of Lubbock, TX, Jose Herrera of Durango, Mexico and Mario Herrera of Oakland, CA, sisters; Margrita Carrera of Parral Chihuahua, Mexico, Maria Sanchez and Martha Sanchez both of Andrews, Alicia Esparsa of Santa Barbara, CA, Amparo Herrera of Durango, Mexico and twelve grandchildren.

MARGIE REED
June 25, 2007

Services for Margie Reed, 87 of Andrews will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2007 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. David Carlson, pastor of Andrews Church of God and Rev. Bryan Johnson, Chaplain of Home Hospice. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Margie passed away at her residence Monday, June 25, 2007. She was born on February 10, 1920 in Dickens County,  Texas. She married Robert H. Reed on March 12, 1950 in Eunice, New Mexico. Margie was a nurse, she worked for Permian General Hospital. Margie was a member of the Assembly of
God Church.

Survivors include, husband; Robert of Andrews, sons; Jimmy Reed, Santa Anna,  Texas, David Fowler of Andrews, daughters; Jackie Cowling of Yankton, South Dakota, Julia Rich of Rockport,  Texas, Jane Grace of Andrews, sister; Mary Elizabeth Serene of Denver, Colorado, 29 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by a son Eddie Fowler, brother; J.D. Hobson and a sister MInnie Lois Fowler.

TOMASA HERNANDEZ
June 24, 2007

Tomasa Hernandez, 91, of Andrews passed away early Sunday June 24, 2007 at her home in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Templo"La Nueva Jerusalem" Church in Andrews.

Tomasa was born September 22, 1915 in Ojinaga, Mexico. She married Juan Hernandez in 1945 in Mexico. She moved to Andrews in 1982.
She loved music and dancing. She enjoyed flowers and nature and she loved to pick cotton when she was younger. Tomasa enjoyed taking a slow Sunday drive and enjoying all that nature had to offer. She was a devout Christian and loved God. She was also very proud to have become an American citizan in August of 2000.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988.

She is survived by, two sons, Armando Hernandez and Nicolas Hernandez both of  Oklahoma City; two daughters, Gloria Villa of Andrews and Maria Valenzuela of Midland. 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

J.W. JAY MOXLEY
June 22, 2007

J.W. (Jay) Moxley, 88, of Andrews passed away early Friday, June 22, 2007 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews. Rev. Rick Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Jay was born May 9, 1919 in Lone Oak,  Texas to Ed and Anice Lou Moxley as the youngest of nine children. He was raised in Ropesville, Tx and graduated from High School there in 1937. he moved to Andrews with his family in 1938. Jay served in the US Army and worked with the Army Corps of Engineers building the Alaskan Highway. He later served in the South Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He married Lettie Carmichael July 12, 1947 in Anson,  Texas. Jay helped build the existing Andrews County Court House as well as the Means Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member and served as an Usher for many years. Jay served as Andrews County Commissioner from 1952 until he retired in 1988. During his time in office Andrews County saw huge growth. Most county building and facilities that Andrews enjoys were built while Jay was Commissioner, including the present hospital, the outdoor rodeo arena on North 385 and many others. Jay was responsible for the county employees being offered a retirement plan. He helped build and pave most of the County roads during his time.
Jay was also active as a member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department, a Fifty year member of the Oddfellows, and long time member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church.

He is survived by: His wife, Lettie Moxley of Andrews; Two Daughters, Cathy Omenson of Sugar Land,  Texas; and Judy Heronema of Andrews. Four Grandchildren, Amanda Jones, Christie Heronema, Audrey Omenson and Lana Omenson. One sister, Arlene Lonis of Carson, California, and several nieces and nephews.

The family ask that memorial gifts be made to Means Memorial United Methodist Church.

DOROTHY LANCE
June 22, 2007

Dorothy Lance, 86, of Andrews passed away Friday, June 22, 2007 at Willow Hill Assisted Living in Andrews.

She was born June 5, 1921 in Cleburne,  Texas. She married Ernie Lance November 11, 1936 in Ft. Sumner, NM.
She lived in Carlsbad, NM for many years and her and hernhusband owned Lance Insurance Agency for 40 Years.

She is survived byone son, Donald Lee Lance of Andrews, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

No services are planed at this time.

MERCEDES MOORE
June 21, 2007

Mercedes Dillard Moore, 85, of Garland (Formerly of Andrews) passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007 at a nursing home in Garland.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Kevin Bullard pastor of Andrews Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Mercedes was born September 6, 1921 in Stanford,  Texas to Joe and Gladys Dillard. She married Carter Moore December 13, 1941 in Abilene,  Texas. he preceded her in death in 1996.

She was a longtime resident of Andrews until she moved to Garland to near her daughter. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.

She is survived by, son, Bobby Moore and his wife Fredda of Odessa, daughter, Jan Moore Thorogood and husband Don of Garland. Three grandsons, Robert Moore, Darren Wade Moore and Shawn David Keener. Five great grandchildren, a brother Doyal Dillard and wife Billy of Lueders, sister Betty Dillard McLennan and husband Bill of Snyder.

ROSCO WILLARD BOHANNON, JR.
June 17, 2007

Roscoe Willard "Rocky" Bohannon, Jr., 50 of Andrews, passed away Sunday morning, June 17, 2007 at his residence in Andrews. A visitation will be held at McNett Funeral Home Tuesday, June 19, 2007 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., no services are scheduled.

Rocky was born on January 2, 1957 in El Paso,  Texas. He served in the United States Air Force durring the Vietnam Era.
Rocky was employed with Basic Energy Services.

Survivors include parents; Roscoe W. and Sarah Bohannon Sr. of Andrews; sons: Roy Don Bohannon of Odessa, Randall Bohannon of  Whitefield,  Oklahoma; daughter: Keesha Lei Bohannon Kraph of Colorado City,  Texas; brother: Ronald Bohannon of Carrollton,  Texas; sister: Bridget Loffler of Odessa,  Texas and seven grandchildren.

BURT SWEEK
June 5, 2007

Johnny "Burt" Sweek, 43, of Andrews passed away Tuesday June 5, 2007 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 Friday, June 8, 2007 in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Rev. Ted M. Shrot will officiate.

Burt was born November 6, 1963 in Loraine,  Texas. He moved to Andrews from  Louisiana in 1989. While in  Louisiana he worked on fishing boats and loved it.
He enjoyed working on and Flying Radio Controlled Airplanes, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and visiting with friends, and he enjoyed cooking.

Burt was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Sweek in 1987.

He is survived by his Mother, Norma Sweek of Andrews; one brother, James Sweek of Andrews, and one sister, Wendy sweek of Odessa.

D.J. TURNER
May 22, 2007

Services for D.J. "Pete" Turner, Jr. 85 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 25, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews. Officiating will be Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor of First Baptist and Rev.Bryan Johnson, Chaplain with Home Hospice. Burial will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 26, 2007 in Spring Creek Cemetery at Avoca,  Texas. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM.at McNett Funeral Home.

Pete passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in Odessa,  Texas. He was born on August 15, 1921 in Anderson Chapel,  Texas. He married Lois Dobbins on December 22, 1945 in Stamford,  Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1956 from Hamlin,  Texas. Pete was a pusher for Texaco for several years before retirement.

Survivors include, wife; Lois, Andrews, sons; Michael Dan Turner, Meridan,  Texas and Terry Keith Turner, Gainesville,  Texas, brother; Carroll Turner, Fredericksburg,  Texas, five grandchildren, one great grandchild.

BILLIE JEAN WILLIAMS
May 21, 2007

Billie Jean Williams, 70, of Andrews passed away Monday, May 21, 2007 at her home in Andrews.

Billie Jean was born September 5, 1936 in Knox City,  Texas. She moved to Andrews in 1950 from Knox City. She married Bennie Lee Williams September 10, 1958 in Odessa. They Lived in Andrews and moved back and forth from Atlanta Georgia several times over the years. Moving back to Andrews after she retired in 1998.
She was a Nurse and an Administator for several Hospitals and Nursing homes in West  Texas and the Atlanta areas.

She enjoyed working cross word puzzels, computer games, and fishing. She was also an Atlanta Braves fan and she loved to make Afgans for friends and family. Her favorite pass time was being with her family.

She was preceded in death by, her husband Bennie Williams in 2004, and a brother, Glen Johnson.

She is survived by; four sons, Crawford (B.J.) Williams and his wife Louise of Midland; Glen Williams and wife Debra of Dallas; Billy Jo (B.J.) Dixon and wife Dianne of Andrews; and Archie L. Williams and his wife Molly of Stockbridge, GA; two daughters, Connie and husband Tyron Baugh of Mabelton, GA; and Felita Williams-Morgan and husband Lorenzo of Riverdale, GA; one brother, Charlie Robert  Johnson of Midland, TX, Eleven Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
