August 10, 2008

Services for David Hernandez, Sr. 69 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona officiating. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
David passed away at his home in Andrews Sunday, August 10, 2008. He was born on April 6, 1939 in Alpine,  Texas. David was a truck driver before retirement and was a Catholic.

Survivors include, son: David Hernandez, Jr., Andrews, daughter; Barbara Hudgens, Andrews, brothers; Edward Hernandez, El Paso, Manuel Hernandez, Fr. Stockton, sisters; Josephina Valenzuela, Alpine, Ida Gutierrez, Midland, and Sister Cecilia Hernandez, Africa, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

JONATHAN MARK MOORE, JR.
August 8, 2008

Services for Jonathan Mark Moore, Jr. infant son of Jonathan Moore, Sr. and Christi Sawyer, will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in Northcrest Baptist Church with Dan Galloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Jonathan passed away in Odessa, Friday, August 8, 2008.

Survivors include, parents Jonathan and Christi, Andrews, brothers; James Weldon Sawyer, Jason Mark Moore, both of Andrews, grandparents; Carol Reighter and Jerry Roth, both of Dallas, Kevin Moore, Andrews, Ken and Joretta Woods, Palestine, great grand parents; Frances Sawyer, Andrews, Rick and Rita Reighter, Mesquite, Jean and Don Woods, Bryan.

HOUSTON GRIFFIN
August 6, 2008

Services for Houston Griffin 81 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Northcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Enrique officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direcstion of McNett Funeral Home.

Houston passed away in Andrews Wednesday, August 6, 2008. He was born on September 22, 1926 in Aspermont,  Texas. Houston was a derrick man for Noble drilling before retirement. He served in the Navy in WW II.

Survivors include, sons; Bo Griffin, Andrews, Rickey Griffin, Andrews, daughter; Marsha Jones, Andrews, brother; Jimmy Griffin, Mexico, sisters; Waldine Stephenson, Carbon, TX, Juline Perkins, Eastland, TX, Juldine Singleton, Ft. Worth, TX, Florene Emmert , Talihina, OK, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

JADA FAYE CLEVENGER
August 6, 2008

Services for Jada Faye Clevenger 87 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Jada passed away in Odessa,  Texas Wednesday, August 6, 2008. She was born on April 28, 1921 in Mitchell County,  Texas. She married Clyde J. Clevenger on April 20, 1940 in Mitchell County,  Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1951 from Loco Hills, NM. Jada was a member of the First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde on November 14, 1999 also her son Jay Clevenger on June 22, 2003 and a brother; Hollis Mize and a sister; Florene Lipham.

Survivors include, son; Charles Clevenger, Andrews, daughter; Janice Matthews, Andrews, brother; L.C. Mize, Colorado City,  Texas, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

MARY C. TURNAGE
August 4, 2008

Services for Mary C. Turnage 73 of Midland will be graveside 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2008 in Andrews West Cemetery. Dr. Jeff Donnell will officiate. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Mary passed away in Midland, Monday August 4, 2008. She was born on September 7, 1934 in Okmulgee,  Oklahoma. She married Bobby Wade Turnage on September 4, 1953. Bobby preceded her in death on March 27, 1983. They had moved to Andrews in 1953. Mary was an office manager for Johnny Smith Ford in Andrews from 1966 to 1977. She moved to Dallas and was office manager for a Cosmetology Career Center for 10 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star - Friendship Chapter 1008, she was initiated December 7, 1964. Mary moved to Midland from Dallas in 2008. Mary was preceded in death by a brother; Robert Eneff and two sisters; Peggy Fuller and Linda K. Bartow.

Survivors include, sons; Michael E. Turnage, Midland, Thomas A. Turnage, Dallas and John W. Turnage, Plano, sister; Wanda Bartow, Farmers Banch, TX, three grandchildren, Thomas Turnage, Joseph Turnage and Conor Turnage.

GENEVA HALEY
August 3, 2008

Geneva Haley, 79, of Andrews passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her home in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday August 6, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Geneva was born May 2, 1929 in Bell County,  Texas. Her family moved to Andrews in the early 1930's. She married Alva Curley Haley September 4, 1948 in Andrews. She was a member of First Baptist CHurch in Andrews. Geneva enjoyed traveling and RVing with her husband. and she loved to shop.

She was preceded in death by her husband Curley Haley and one grandson, A.J. Yount.

She is survived by: two sons - Ronals Haley and his wife Christina of Lewisville; David Haley and wife Glora Ann of Edinburg; two daughters - Kathy Rekow and husband Dale of Springtown; and Sandra Yount of Andrews; one brother Donnell Hitch and wife Bonnie of Andrews; one sister - La Dean Warren and husband Jerry of Midland, ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM EDWARD (BILL) TOM
August 1, 2008

William Edward "Bill" Tom, 53, of Andrews passed away Friday August 1, 2008 at his home in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Pastor Mary Breden, of Andrews Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Bill was born January 15, 1955 in Odessa. He was a lifelong resident of Andrews. He married Wilma Howell August 3, 1985 in Odessa. Bill was the president of Kinney Inc., owner od Tom Cattel Company, Triple T Water Station and Tom Properties. He served on the Board of directors for the National Bank of Andrews, past trustee of the Andrews Independent School District. He also served on the Soil Conservation board. Bill loved Ranching and roping as well as wieght lifting, ridding his bicycle and running.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George Ellison "Snuffy" Tom III, in 1991, and his father George Ellison "Sonny" Tom, II in 2004.

He is survived by - His wife Wilma Tom of Andrews; His Mother - Billie Tom of Andrews one daughter - Courtney Tom of Stephenville, and one son - Chris Tom of Andrews.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Andrews Education Foundation.

LILLIAN CHRISTOPHER
July 25, 2008

Lillian Christopher, 85 of Midland, died Friday, July 25, 2008. She was born June 19, 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia. On April 20, 1940 Lillian L. Harrison married Calvin B. Christopher in Great Falls,  South Carolina. They moved west in 1953. She was faithful to God and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years and one borther Donald Harrison.

She is survived by her sons; Ted Christopher of Joshua,  Texas, Roger Christopher of Midland, a sister; Mary Bailey of Lancaster,  South Carolina, a brother Henry Harrison of Great Falls,  South Carolina, four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, twelve step-great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Sunday July 27, 2008 between the hours of 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 28, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God , 100 West Wadley Ave in Midland,  Texas with Reverend Mike Hanks and Reverand Chris Wray officiating. Interment will be at Holly Hills Cemetery in Granbury,  Texas at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland,  Texas 79702.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home, Andrews,  Texas.

Rogelio DeLa Garza

Rogelio De La Garza, 75, of Andrews passed away early Sunday December 7, 2008 at his home in Andrews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday December 9, 2008 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Mr. De La Garza was born November 2, 1933 in Mendez, Mexico. Hemarried Guadelupe Leal fourty-serven years ago. in Mexico, they moved to Andrews over twenty years ago, and he went to work for Kirby West. He retired after 19 years of service. He was also a brick layer, and worked for many different people in Andrews.

He loved to work in his garden and spend time with his family.

He is survived by: his wife Guadelupe De La Garza of Andrews; four sons- Rogelio De La Garza, Jr. of Andrews; Romeo De La Garza of Midland; Ruben De La Garza of Midland; Richie De La Garza of Andrews; three daughters - Hilda Gomez of Andrews; Adriana De La Garza of Midland; and Teresa Munoz of Andrews; for brothers and three sisters; Twenty Grandchildren and Seven Great-Grandchildren.

Services for Gretchen Kelly 96 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Hammack officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Gretchen passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 in Andrews. She was born on August 22, 1912 in Shamrock,  Texas. She married Daniel A. Kelly on August 4, 1928 in Taft,  Texas. Gretchen was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel on November 15, 1991.

Surviivors include, daughter; Artie Freez, Andrews, sister; Sadie Fuller, Houston, six grandchildren,
fourteen great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
