Bill Wilmoth

Born: July 8, 1941

Departed: March 7, 2010

Residence: Bandera, TX

Service Date: March 21, 2010 at 2 PM

Service Location: Wilmoth Residence

Bill Wilmoth, 68, died on March 7, 2010 at his home in Bandera following an extended illness.

As a child, Bill’s life took him from a poor rural farmhouse in north east Arkansas to working the hop fields of eastern  Washington just before joining the Army in 1958. He served all over the globe including Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Okinawa and many stateside posts, eventually retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1978. Following his retirement in Olympia,  Washington, Bill’s skill and reputation as an honest mechanic eventually allowed him to own his own garage but after a couple heart attacks, he and his wife sold everything so they could travel and spend more time together. For 8 years they traveled around the US, making and visiting friends between  Washington and  Texas until they finally settled in Bandera and opened the Wind River Saddle Shop. He always said it took him that long to find a job he really liked.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Carole, his daughter Lori of Austin, TX, and her family; husband Steven, son Steven Jr. (in the 82nd Airborne) and daughter Tiffany Rose. He’s also survived by his son Jeff, a Major in the Air Force stationed at Randolph AFB, TX and a granddaughter Machael Wilmoth of Buffalo, WV. Bill also has three sisters, Pat Stoner of Gilmer, TX, Ruby Adams of Sugar Creek, MO and Nancy Henderson of Shawnee Mission, MO. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Henagar and his son Curtis Dean.

Though we will all miss his smile and laugh, remember he is no longer in pain and is still in our hearts. His friends are invited to join the family at a gathering at his home at 2:00 PM, March 21.
