Bert F. Winston, Jr., husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, age 76, died in a Denver hospital on March 7, 2010. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 19, at 2:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville. Bert was born on November 2, 1933, in Houston to Carroll Sterling Masterson and Bert Farmer Winston, Sr. A fifth-generation Texan, Bert was proud of his Texas heritage as well as the years that he lived in Mexico City. As a child, the family moved to Mexico City where his stepfather, Jack Cowan, was in charge of Westinghouse Mexico. Bert loved Mexico and to this day owned a ranch outside of Uruapan and had many lifelong friends from there. Upon Mr. Cowan’s death in a tragic plane crash, the family moved to Kansas and then eventually back to Houston where his mother later married Harris Masterson, III.
Bert attended The Kinkaid School, The American School in Mexico City, Culver military Academy, Lamar High School and the University of Houston before entering the Army. He married Lynda Hepinstall, began his family and then joined the Army Reserves before going into investments and real estate. When Lynda died unexpectedly, he married Barbara Wallace and they had four more children. He married Deborah Dieringer Turner in 1993.
Bert loved the Houston Cougars and was an avid supporter of the university where he and his wife set up The Bert and Deborah Winston Scholarship Endowment for athletes at the school. He was also a member of the International Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for many years. In 1978 Bert moved to Hunt, Texas where his grandmother had a summer home which the family enjoyed for vacations and during the summers. He lived there until he moved to Segovia, Texas about a year and half ago. Bert owned and operated The Hunt Store for several years in the early 1980’s, served on the Boards for the Sterling-Turner Foundation and the Hill Country Youth Ranch, and was a supporter of Schreiner University, the new Peterson Regional Medical Center, Friends and Faculty of Ingram Tom Moore High School, the Hunt VFD as well as many other charities throughout the state.
Everyone who knew Bert knew what a wonderful sense of humor he had and how much he enjoyed having a good time. Some of his favorite things were collecting and showing classic cars, country swing music, good friends, watching sports, cold beer and Rush Limbaugh. He loved to laugh and always had a twinkle in his eye. Bert was known for being a kind and generous man, music producer, drummer, rancher, investor, philanthropist and genuine human being. What you saw was who he was.
Bert’s legacy will go on and will carry on his spirit of generosity, sense of humor and love for life. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Deborah Winston, his children Chaille Hawkins and husband, Freddie, David Winston and wife Larilyn, Bert Winston, III and wife Pauline, Rosalind Newton, Blake Winston, Phillip Winston and stepson, Tyler Turner. He is survived by his grandchildren: Carroll Schuler and her husband, Zach; Michael Hawkins and wife, Elizabeth; Rocky Winston; Cadi Hawkins; Braylon Winston; Jacob Newton; Erin Newton; Max Winston; Daniel Winston; Sterling Winston; newest granddaughter born this week, Lilah Elizabeth Winston, and great-grandson, Cole Schuler. Bert’s sister, Isla Reckling and her husband, Tommy, also survive as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bert was preceded in death by his parents, stepfathers and first wife, Lynda.

Athele Caroline Weaver

Athele Whitworth Weaver, age 81 of Austin, passed away, Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at her residence. She was born to Colon Owen Whitworth and Lena (Gary) Whitworth on November 16, 1921 in Kimble County, TX. She married James Durmott Weaver, Sr. On October 19, 1940 in Denton, TX.
Athele was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Edminston of Austin; son, James Durmott Weaver, Jr. Of Rocksprings; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents-Father, Colon Whitworth in 1990 and Mother, Lena Whitworth in 1998; husband, James Durmott Weaver, Sr. in 1992; son Greg Weaver in April of 2000; and daughter, Sara Ann Weaver in February of 1962.
Graveside services will be held, Friday, December 20, 2002, 1:00 p.m. at Rocksprings Cemetery with Rev. Nancy Littlefield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rocksprings Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Frank W. Adams

Frank W. Adams, age 90 of Medina, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 in a San Antonio Hospice House. He was born October 2, 1912 in Marshall, Texas to Archibald Gray Adams, Jr. and Kate Wilson Adams. He was raised in Jacksonville, TX, the son of a Banker, attended Lon Morris College and University of Texas at Austin earning his BA in Business Administration, worked for Montgomery Ward in Chicago, joined the Army before World War II serving in the Quartermaster Corps in Frank and Germany, married Elaine Vaught on August 12, 1944 in Akron, OH, settled in Pittsburgh, worked for Mellon Bank, First National Bank of Ft. Worth and Holiday Inns of America. His connection with the Hill Country began wit his married to Elaine. After his father-in-law died, he went into the cow-calf business with Hugh Carpenter. He moved to the T-Anchor Ranch in 1977 and lived there until selling it in 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Anne Adams of Austin; two sons, Frank Adams, Jr. of Menlo Park, CA and George C. Adams of San Antonio; sister, Katherine Huebel and husband, John of Lake Jackson, TX; brother, Robert Marshall Adams of Lake Jackson; and grandson, Johnathan Adams of Menlo Park, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine on May 7, 1993.
Services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at the Medina United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Oak Rest Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Medina United Methodist Church.

Amelia E. (nee Klein) Agold

Amelia E. (nee Klein) Agold, age 87 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at a local hospital. She was born September 15, 1916 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Henry and Ella Juenke Klein.
Amelia was baptized at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, TX and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Kerrville, TX in 1930. She lived her first 13 years in Tivydale, TX and then her family moved to Kerrville, TX in 1929. She married Rudolph M. Agold on December 10, 1938, who preceded her in death. Amelia worked at Gibson’s of Kerrville for 25 years and retired at the age of 80. She enjoyed needlework, watching football games and all sports, playing card games, playing bunco with her friends, and being with her family on all occasions. She loved plants and gardens and also loved to predict the weather.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Agold and wife, Patricia and Vernon Agold and wife, Carolyn, both of Kerrville; sister, Vera Hartman of San Angelo; two brothers, Norman Klein of Georgetown and Harold Klein of Kerrville; four grandchildren, Susan Agold Cathey of Kerrville, Terry G. Agold of Pipe Creek, Todd R. Agold of Garland and Jeffrey W. Agold of Keller; four great grandchildren, Clayton Cathey and Douglas Cathey, both of Kerrville; Caleb Agold of Pipe Creek and Tyler Agold of Keller.
In addition to her husband, Rudolph M. Agold, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lydia Grona and Ella Mae Koehne and one brother, Ruben Klein.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Grimes Funeral Chapels from 6-8 p.m.
Services will be Friday, June 4, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Pastor David Chancellor. Graveside services will follow at the Boerne City Cemetery in Boerne, TX at 2:00 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Agold, Todd Agold, Jeff Agold Keller, James Cathey, Charles Allen Mains, Jerry Koehne and Allan Koehne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

John Akin, age 53, of Lakehills, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at his residence. He was born March 2, 1951 in Brownfield, TX to Leroy and Olga Gwen Gaither Akin.
He served his country during the Vietnam War by joining the Army and he was a carpenter by trade.
Survivors include his father, Leroy Akin of Lakehills; maternal grandmother, Laura Gaither of Lubbock; two brothers, Marshal Akin and wife, Debbie of Fredericksburg and Kenneth Akin and wife, Diana Klepac of Lakehills; nieces and nephews, Coy Akin and Stacey Kneiper of Fredericksburg, S/Sgt. Brad Klepac and Stacy of Missouri, Victoria Faulkner and Junior of Pipe Creek; and great nephew, Halston B. Faulkner of Pipe Creek.

William Francis Alexander

Mr. William F. Alexander, age 86 of Kerrville, Texas passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004 in a Kerrville care center. He was born July 1, 1918 in Noblesville, Indiana to William Alexander and Mable Booth Alexander. He had been a Kerrville resident for over 30 years. He was a retired supervisor from the U.S. Government.
He married Davidellen Faulconer in Indiana in 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Thompson in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Davidellen Alexander of Kerrville and two sisters, Norma Jean Morris and Betty Laudig, both of Indiana.
Graveside services for Mr. Alexander will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Garden of Memories with Mr. Ron Briley officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Calvin C. Allen went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the
age of 76. Cal proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Clarence Allen and 2 brothers Alvin and Morris Allen. Cal is survived by Marilyn, his beloved wife and sweetheart of 49 years; son, Calvin Jr., and wife Debi, daughter Shirlene and husband Victor Darnold; grandsons: Darian Allen and wife Kristin, Victor Darnold Jr. and fiancee‚ Candice Cortinez, and granddaughter Nicole Allen; great grandsons Evan & Noah Allen. Also 3 sisters Arminta, Mona, and Linnie Beth, and numerous loving family and friends.
Graveside services were held on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 11 AM at Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina, Texas with Dr. Allie Balko officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to you favorite charity.

Mrs. Daletta Andreas, Age 60, of Kerrville, Texas, died on Friday, February 23, 2007, at a Kerrville hospital. Daletta was born on September 8, 1946, to Charles Oscar Barker and Stella Inlow Barker.
Daletta married Fred Andreas on May 6, 1972, in Arlington, Texas. She was the Chapter Executive for the Hill Country Chapter of the American Red Cross in Kerrville, Texas, for seventeen years. She was a member of the Executive Womens Club, Red Hat Society and a local Bunco club. Daletta was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors, Husband, Fred Andreas of Kerrville; mother, Stella Williams of Kerrville; one daughter, Kim Andreas Porter and husband Trey of Johnson City; two brothers, Rick Barker and wife Roberta of Kerrville and Mickey Barker and wife Jana of Pottsboro, Texas; one grandchild, Wesley Porter of Johnson City; great aunt, Wanetta Hoskins of Kerrville; nieces and nephews Jeff Barker, James Barker, Donavon Barker, Michael Barker and Cheryl Barker; and several cousins.
Funeral services for Daletta Andreas will be held at 10:00 A. M., Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Warren Hornung, officiating. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with Jeff Barker, James Barker, Michael Barker, Donavon Barker, Robert Sturdy and Nick Villanueva, serving as pallbearers.

Viola M. Arnecke

Viola (Ollie) M. Arnecke entered into rest on March 20, 2004, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arnecke, Sr. Both lived in Kerrville for many years and were members of Zion Lutheran Church.
"Mother" by her children, "Granny" by her grandchildren and "Ollie" as close friends and relatives called her, is survived in the immediate family by her son Charles and wife Kaye Arnecke; two daughters, Shirley and husband Ben White and Sharon Finch. Her grandchildren, Debbie and her husband Kerry Roper, Kelly and his wife Angela White, Angela and her husband Bob Farrier, Daphne and her husband Mark Newman, Andree and her husband Bryan Moynihan and Boyd and his wife Dawn Finch. Her loving great grandchildren, Amy and Bryan Roper, Kyle and Kalynn White, A. J. Farrier, Gretchen and Allison Newman, Jiles Finch and Kennedee Moynihan. One surviving sister Ellerine and her husband Walter Dentler. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mother’s love in life was her family, her church, her sewing, her flowers and her garden. Incapable of doing those things she loved, she was invited to join the eternal keeper.

Prior to funeral service, Mrs. Arnecke will lie in state from 1:00 to 2:00 P. M., at Zion Lutheran Church.
Funeral services under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at 2:00 P. M., at Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Chancellor, Officiating. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Hwy 16 North, Kerrville, Texas. Pallbearers are Boyd Finch, Kelly White, Bryan Roper, Kyle White, Mark Newman, Bryan Monihan, Johnny Finch and Kerry Roper. Honorary pallbearers are A. J. Farrier and Bob Farrier.
