Mr. Pablo "Paul" Ayala. Sr., age 67 of Harper, passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born March 21, 1937 in Kerrville to Creseincio and Mary (Vala) Ayala. In 1958, he married Sally Collazo in Kerrville.
Mr. Ayala was a custodian at Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Ayala of Kerrville; daughters, Janie Bennett and husband, Michael of Menard, Rosemary Way and husband, Michael of Ingram and Sophia Collier and husband, Sammy of Ingram; sons, Paul Ayala, Jr. and wife, Jamie of Kerrville, Bobby Ayala and wife, Flora of Harper, Roger A. Abraham of Richmond, VA and Michael Ayala and wife, Sara of Kerrville; sisters, Vicki Zavala of Arlington, Margaret Menchaca of California, Dailia Espinosa of California, Sulema Lacky of Kerrville, Juanita Ayala of San Antonio, Maribell Ayala of San Antonio and Gloria Castigallas of Wisconsin; brothers, Raymond Ayala of Arlington, Bruno Ayala of San Antonio and Tony Ayala of Ft. Worth; twenty one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, July 8, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. John Petty. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Ayala, Jr., Bobby Ayala, Roger Abraham, Michael Ayala, Sammy Collier and Bobby Ayala, Jr.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Leslie "Les" G. Bains
Born in the Panama Canal Zone on August 27, 1932
Departed on July 26, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Mr. Leslie (Les) G. Bains, 71, of Kerrville,  Texas, passed away Monday, July 26, 2004 in Clayton, New Mexico. He was born August 27, 1932 in the Panama Canal Zone to Leslie C. and Wilma Bains. On February 18, 1967, he married Alice K. Gratzfeld in Pasadena,  Texas. In 1969, they moved to Colorado and resided for 15 years where his sons still make their homes. Les and Alice moved to the Kerrville area in 1984.
Les volunteered for the Marines and was a sergeant during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Houston, was a founding officer of Sigma Phi Epsilon and continued as a supporting alumni to both. He spent much of his life in construction equipment sales. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bandera,  Texas.

Les lived a full life and was an avid pilot. He loved to share his passion of flying with others. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He owned several aircraft over the years; two of which he completely restored.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Bains of Kerrville; sister, Barbara Yarber and her husband, Harold of Blieberville, TX; his son and soon to be daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna  Johnson of Westminster, Colorado; his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Christine of Monument, Colorado and their children, Jennifer Krueger (husband, Joel and son, Elijah), Amanda, Isabella, Hunter, Cade, Francesca and Sophia.

Masonic services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29, at Grimes Funeral Chapels on 400 Earl Garrett in Kerrville, officiated by Tim Goode, Elder, Kerrville Church of Christ. Burial will be at 2 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2004, at Forest Park East Cemetery, League City,  Texas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28, at Grimes Funeral Chapels from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at 1-800-FIGHT MS (1-800-344-4867), would be appreciated.

Ray Baker
Born in Kerrville, TX on December 3, 1950
Departed on January 29, 2003 and resided in Center Point, TX.

Mr. Ray Baker, age 52 of Center Point, passed away, Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at his residence. Ray was born in Kerrville on December 3, 1950 to Alfred Ray Baker, Sr. and Ella Cochran. He married Laura Barber in Ingram on February 29, 1996.

Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1974. He was a medical records clerk for the VA Hospital and a life member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of Center Point; mother, Ella Baker of Center Point; daughter, Wendy Chafin & husband, B.J. of Bandera; son, Brock Baker of Center Point; step-son, Wesley Beakley & wife, Vanessa of Center Point; sister, Carolyn Pfiester of Center Point; brothers, Doyle Baker & wife, Lynette of Fredericksburg and Wade Baker & wife, Linda of Kerrville; five step-grandchildren, Ronin Rhoades, Brennan Beakley, Nathan Lynch, Rachel Lynch and Brandon Chafin; and many Aunts, Nieces & Nephews.

Graveside services will be held, Saturday, February 1, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Center Point Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Martha Elizabeth Baker
Born in Cleveland, OH on March 24, 1919
Departed on July 19, 2004, and resided in Bulverde, TX

Martha Elizabeth Baker at age 85 of Bulverde,  Texas, passed away Monday, July 19, 2004. She graduated from Vocational Nursing on January 21, 1955 and her love for the nursing field was expressed by the tender care her patients received. Although she worked for many years at numerous hospitals, she retired from Wilford Hall Hospital after 17 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessie Albert, and sons, Bruce, Mitchell, Dudley and Ira. Mrs. Baker is survived by her brother, Fred Ewald; daughters, Cherry Roemisch, Beatrice Ines, Diana Fowler; son, James Baker; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She will always be remembered for loving her Lord & Savior, her love for her family and her great sense of humor. She always had a meal on the table in a moments notice, followed by her wonderful desserts. She loved to garden, work crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and she loved table games and sports, especially baseball. She immensely enjoyed being a member of the Senior Citizen’s Club.

Words can not express how she will be missed by those who loved her so much.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville,  Texas (phone # 830-257-4544). Graveside services will be held Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at Hunt Japonica Cemetery.

Jesse J. Baldwin
Born in Ingram, TX on March 1, 1914
Departed on March 27, 2003 and resided in Ingram, TX.

Jesse J. Baldwin, age 89 of Ingram, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003 at a Kerrville hospital. He was born March 1, 1914 in Ingram to George and Tillie Sublet Baldwin. He married Maudie L. Williams in Hunt in 1935. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2002.

Jesse was a World War II veteran. He survived the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kerrville.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice  White of San Antonio; son, Jesse J. Baldwin, Jr. and wife, Donna of Boerne; three sisters, Fay Price of Ingram, Jerry Walker and Nova Hoover, both of San Antonio; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and his daughter, Jean Duecker on February 24, 2003.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Rev. Paul McClung officiating. Interment will follow at the Baldwin Family Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Shirley DeLozier Baldwin

Shirley DeLozier Baldwin, age 66 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, July 12, 2004. She has been a resident of Kerrville since October 1990 and a prior resident of Geneva, Switzerland.
She was born November 1, 1937 in Sevierville, TN to George DeLozier and Annie (Lance) DeLozier. On July 8, 1958, she married Robert Baldwin in Summerfield, TX.

Survivors include husband, Robert Baldwin of Kerrville; daughter, Kristi Williams and husband, Stephen of Pearsall; brothers, Wayne DeLozier and wife, Marion of Lubbock, Willis DeLozier and wife, LaRae of Tyler and Lee DeLozier and wife, Jane of Garland; two grandchildren, Cale and Addie Williams and many loving extended family members.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Mrs. Esperanza "Hope" Gutierrez Barron, age 80 of Kerrville, passed away, Saturday, January 25, 2003 at her residence. She was born in San Ygnacio,  Texas on December 28, 1922 to Bernabe Gutierrez and Piedad (Avila) Gutierrez.

Mrs. Barron was longtime resident of Kerrville. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and worked at Kerrville’s original Lehmann’s Five & Dime Store.

Survivors include her husband, Baldemar L. Barron of Kerrville; three daughters, Jane Barron of Kerrville, Hilda Villanueva and husband, Nick of Kerrville and Terry Snider and husband, Jerry of San Antonio; four sons, Ray Garcia and wife, Hope of Kerrville, Esiquio "Zeke" Garcia and wife, Mary Lue of Kerrville, Joey Barron of Kerrville and Ricky Villanueva of San Marcos; three sisters, Yolanda G. Sanchez of Laredo, Maria Logan of Helotes and Mina Hachar of Laredo; four brothers, Israel Gutierrez of Kerrville, Henry Gutierrez of Laredo, Fernando Gutierrez of San Ygnacio and Javier Gutierrez of Laredo; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Mike Boulette as celebrant. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Garcia, Jr., Ricardo Victor Villanueva, Nicolas Villanueva, II, Ricardo Victor Gutierrez, Bernabe Eduardo Sanchez and Marc Logan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Humberto Fasci, Adriel Fasci, Noe Gutierrez, Israel Gutierrez, Francisco Gutierrez, Roberto M. Sanchez, Jr., Javier Gutierrez, Carlos Gutierrez, Fernando Gutierrez, Henry E. Gutierrez, Jr., B.G. Gutierrez, Danny Lozano, Frankie Logan, Ricky Duran and Scott Mrozinski.
