Mrs. Fern Wilson Beard, Age 85, of Kerrville,  Texas, died on Saturday, July 10, 2004, in a Kerrville nursing center. Mrs. Beard, a resident of Kerrville since 1985 and had lived in Snyder,  Texas for many years, was born on May 14, 1919, in Hollis,  Oklahoma, to George R. Cole and Maggie E. Garrison Cole.
Fern married Fred Ray Beard on November 1, 1947, in Lubbock,  Texas. He preceded her in death in 2002. She was a retired furniture store salesperson. Mrs. Beard was a member of the Western Hills Baptist Church in Kerrville.

Survivors, Daughter, Brenda Kay Covey of New Braunfels; Son, Randall Ray Beard of Kerrville; Two Grandchildren, Russell and Jarrod Covey.

Graveside funeral services, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2004, Garden of Memories Cemetery, with Dr. James Morrow, officiating.

Gerald "Jerry" Bedenbender
Born in Pampa, TX on March 31, 1928
Departed on March 26, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Gerald (Jerry) Bedenbender, Age 75, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, stepped over into the presence of his Lord on March 26, 2004, after a short illness.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois; his two daughters: Lou Ann Light and husband Robert and Susan Schneider and husband Bobby; and four grandchildren: Crystal Light, Charlene Light, Wesley Schneider and Shelbi Schneider.

Jerry was born in Pampa,  Texas, on March 31, 1928, the only child of Henry and Iva McCabe Bedenbender. He went to Pampa High School and graduated from  Texas Tech in Lubbock in 1951 with a degree in agriculture. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Jerry and Lois were married in 1953 at a Methodist church in San Antonio. They moved to Kerrville from Seguin in 1990, where he retired from the  Texas Farm Bureau in 1994.

Jerry was an avid wood-worker. Working with wood and especially with mesquite was his passion. He will be sorely missed by all of his "wood friends".

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville and was active in the choir, the 21st Century Sunday School class, the Men’s Bible Study Class, and had participated in The Walk to Emmaus.

Jerry donated his time and talents to the creation of furniture and accessories to his church, his friends and to other worthy causes. He was a big man with a big and generous heart and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Reverend Warren Hornung will conduct the memorial services at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, March 29, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. Private burial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Melida Castillo Beebe

Mrs. Melida Castillo Beebe, age 89 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at a San Antonio hospital. She was born December 28, 1914 in Boquete, Panama to Antonio and Cantina (Castillo) Gonzalez. On July 31, 1952, she married William Henry Beebe in New York.

Mrs. Castillo was an elementary teacher and a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Beebe of Kerrville; son, William H. Beebe, III and sister, Elinda Gonzalez of Kerrville.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Panama.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Tyler Scott Behrens
Born in San Antonio, TX on July 27, 1998
Departed on July 30, 2003 and resided in Center Point, TX.

Tyler Scott Behrens, age 5, of Center Point, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at a San Antonio hospital. He was born July 27, 1998 in San Antonio,  Texas to Brian Scott and Jodi Marie (Brasher) Behrens.

Tyler was involved in many organizations around the hill country. He was in Hill Country Youth Soccer, YMCA Basketball, YMCA Flag Football, Kerrville Little League and was a contestant in the All Star Kids National Baby Contest. Tyler loved rodeos and attended hundreds including the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas each year. He loved going to Sunday School and memorizing Bible verses. He attended Calvary Temple Church and 1000 Hills Cowboy Church. Tyler’s sweet personality and infectious smile will stay forever etched in the memories of all who met and loved him.

Survivors include his parents, Brian and Jodi Behrens of Center Point; grandfather, Raymond (Opa) Behrens of Kerrville; great grandparents, Roscoe and Emma Behrens of Kerrville; aunt and uncle, Brent and Lisa Behrens of Kerrville; cousins, Ashly, Charles and Brianna Behrens. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janie (Oma) Behrens on July 17, 2001 and great-great grandfather, A.F. Treiber (Papa) on January 1, 2003.

Services will be held Sunday, August 3, 2003, 1:30 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Rev. Ron Moore and Rev. Del Way officiating. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery. Pallbearers are Edward Maldonado, Johnny Grimes, Tom Wren, Ronnie Gesell, Rusty Henderson and Lou Doss. Honorary Pallbearers are Robbie Vosburg, Jim Behrens, Jaime Macias, and Ruben Gutierrez.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 2, 2003, from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Tyler’s name at Bank of the Hills and Guaranty Federal Bank.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Billy Charles Bettinger
Born on January 23, 1921 in Waco, TX
Departed on April 4, 2007 and resided in Kerrville, TX

Bill Bettinger, age 86, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at a local hospital.
He was born in Waco,  Texas to Joseph and Clara Bettinger. His parents and brother Harry are now deceased. He is survived by his wife, Edith McClure Bettinger.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery at Jacksboro,  Texas

Bill worked as an engineering technician in aircraft and spacecraft development at Chance-Vought and Ling-Temco in Fort Worth during and after WWII. Later he was with Pan-American Aviation in maintenance at Brownsville, Mexico City and Miami. Since his retirement in 1975, Bill continued his interests in building, hiking and camping.

A family memorial service is being arranged.

John Woodrow Bilderback, Sr.

Mr. John Woodrow Bilderback, Sr., age 90 of Bandera, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at a Kerrville hospital. No services will be held. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

Ronald "Ronnie" Bishop

Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Bishop, age 46 of Center Point, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at his residence. He was born June 24, 1957 in Kerrville to Verdo Herman Bishop and Minnie Ola (Massey) Bishop.

Ronnie worked in construction and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his mother, Minnie Ola Massey Blalock; daughter, Shannan Bishop-Rogers; son, Jonathon Tate Bishop; sisters, Mary Ann Dickerson and husband, Chuck of Kerrville, Ola Mae Dennis of Bandera, Sherry Moore and husband, Raymond of Ingram, June  Jackson and husband, Jo Ed of Kerrville, Melinda Medina of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Patricia Robinson of Kerrville and Rebecca Hano of Kerrville; brothers, Verdo Bishop, Jr. of Hondo, Tommy Bishop of Kerrville and Mike Bishop of Hooks, TX; and four grandchildren, Jaiden and Jordan Rogers and Myranda and William Bishop.

Private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 420 Water St., Kerrville, TX 78028.

Vernon Bishop
Born in Houston, TX on September 4, 1933

Vernon Bishop, age 70 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2004 in a local hospital. He was born September 4, 1933 in Houston to John Thomas Bishop and Lydia Idella (Fenske) Bishop.
Vernon served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a master electrician for 45 years and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville.

He is survived by daughter, Veronica Ozuna and husband, Johnny of Arlington, TX; sister, Janette Schrupp of Randall, MN; brothers, John Bishop of Waller, TX and Raymond Bishop of Cypress, TX; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2004, 10:00 a.m., Trinity Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. John Petty.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2004, 1:00 p.m., Resthaven Cemetery, Houston, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VA Hospital Cancer Fund, 3600 Memorial Blvd., Kerrville, TX 78028.

David "Tucker" Bishop
Born on June 20, 1948 in San Juan, Puerto, Rico

David "Tucker" Bishop, age 58 of Bandera, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in Kerrville. He was born June 20, 1948 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Travis Lee Bishop and June Elizabeth (Unger) Bishop. On February 26, 1972, he married Judith Raye Judge in Somerset, TX.
Mr. Bishop served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was an electrician for 35 years, worked for USAA as an electrician for 15 years, and was employed by the Kerrville Veterans Hospital as a Journeyman Electrician. He was a member of the Bandera Church of Christ.

Survivors include wife, Judi Bishop of Bandera; daughter, Reagan Dorries and husband, Heath of San Antonio; brothers, Terry Lee Bishop and wife, Sharon of La Vernia, TX and Nathan Bishop of Somerset, TX; grandchildren, Cooper, Hadley and Presley Dorries; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2007, 10 AM at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, officiated by Mr. Martin Smith.

Vera Mae Bluntzer

Vera Mae Bluntzer, age 73, passed away Monday March 17, 2008 in Austin,  Texas after a long battle with lung disease. She was born in Dime Box, TX on May 13, 1934 to Willie Louis and Elvira Knipstein. She resided in Corpus Christi, TX until relocating to Kerrville in 1975. She was a resident of Kerrville for 33 years. Vera was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph T. Bluntzer, her parents, and three siblings. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Bluntzer of Austin, TX, her sister, Charlene Waller and family of Lake Jackson, TX; her brother James Knipstein and family, of North Carolina, sister-in-law Naomi Tischler and family, and brother-in-law; William N. Bluntzer, wife Rusty, and family all of Corpus Christi, TX . Also surviving, her adopted family; Dawn Blaker and husband Jack Blaker, grandchildren, Amanda Blaker, Brandon Blaker and wife Shelly; Jack Blaker Jr. and wife Judy, and most especially "Her Boys", Tanner Blaker, Aiden and Ethan McCullough, and Bailey Blaker. Vera was a well known optician who devoted thirty years of her life to the optical business. A beloved mother, sister, daughter, wife, and grandmother, she will be cherished and missed in the lives and hearts of those she touched. Services will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville, on Thursday March 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Graveside services to follow in Corpus Christi, TX on Friday, March 21, 2008, 4:30 PM at Rosehill Memorial Park.
