Mabel Alderson Cochrane

Mabel Alderson Cochrane, 100, died Friday, October 24, 2003 in Kerrville.

Mabel was born April 28, 1903 in Durham County, Kansas. She married Earl A. Cochrane, Sr., January 24, 1923 in Denver, Colorado. Mabel and Earl moved to Dallas,  Texas shortly after their marriage and raised their two children there.

Mabel led a full and active life. She was an excellent seamstress, did tatting and crochet, and made beautiful quilts. She and Earl were active members of the First Christian Church. They moved to Kerrville in 1972 and Earl died in 1974.

Mabel is survived by two children, one son, Earl A. Cochrane, Jr. and his wife, Juanita, of Kerrville and a daughter, Delma Rae Hehl and her husband, Walter, of Lexington, Kentucky. Mabel had six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Private graveside services will be held for the family.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Celestina Ayala Collazo

Celestina Ayala Collazo, age 76 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at her residence. She was a prior resident of Oregon.
Mrs. Collazo was born September 30, 1927 in Kerrville to Antonio and Josefa (Lopez) Ayala.

She was a seamstress for Oregon Bag Company and a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.

Survivors include twelve children, three sisters, twenty seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, July 30, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 31, 2004, 9:00 a.m., Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Michael Boulette as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Earl F. Conrad
Born in Shattuc, IL on November 18, 1917
Departed on October 1, 2003 and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Mr. Earl F. Conrad, age 85 of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at a San Antonio hospital. He was born November 18, 1917 to Fred and Beaulah Lee (Mutschler) Conrad in Shattuc, Illinois. On November 14, 1947, he married Geneva May Eads in Lamar, Colorado.

Mr. Conrad was a resident of Kerrville for 20 years and a prior resident of Sheridan, Wyoming. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Earl worked for 40 years as a supervisor for Shell Oil Company in the Exportation and Seismograph department and only missed two days of work. He was a member of the VFW and also a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was Head Usher and Deacon for years.

He is survived by wife, Geneva M. Conrad of Kerrville; daughter, Rhonda Meeks and husband, Robert of San Antonio; sister, Melba M. Bryant of Centralia, IL; brother, Wayne J. Conrad of Shattuc, IL; two granddaughters, Rachel Lee Smith and husband, Captain Hunter Smith of Goldsboro, NC and Rebekah Lynn Meeks of London, England.

Services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2 003, 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. John A. Petty officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The ushers and deacons of Trinity Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Margaret J. Cooper

Mrs. Margaret J. Cooper, age 92 of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2003 at a local hospital. She was born January 28, 1911 in Philadelphia, PA to Howard and Ethel (Coulson) Johnson. On July 2, 1932, she married Robert E. Cooper, Jr. in San Antonio, TX. He preceded her death on January 12, 1990.

Margaret was a resident of Kerrville for 28 years and was a prior resident of Bay Village, Ohio. She was a homemaker and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville.

Survivors include one daughter, Anne Munson of West Lake Village, CA; son, Bruce Cooper of Wexford, PA; four grandchildren, David Munson, Sharon Swanson, Cathryn Moyski and Cynthia Cooper, M.D.; and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Dr. Buran F. Phillips officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 800  Jefferson, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Patrick Adam Copeland

Patrick Adam Copeland, age 15 of Houston, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007. He was born July 19, 1991 in Jacksonville, NC to Lynn and Lisa (Adams) Copeland.
Patrick was a student at Cypress Creek School and played Junior Varsity Football. He was a motorcycle enthusiast.

He is survived by his parents, Lisa Adams Copeland and Lynn Copeland of Houston; grandparents, Sam and Pat Adams of San Antonio; grandmother, Mary Copeland of Houston; great grandparents, Darryl and Elizabeth Ray of Uvalde; great aunt, Helen Copeland of San Antonio; step brother, Eric Copeland of Houston; half brothers, Derek Belfiore of Georgia and Dylan Copeland of Houston; uncle and aunt, Aubrey and Rae Raiford of Center Point; uncle, Elton Copeland of Burnet, TX; cousins, Stacy Martin of San Antonio, Samantha Raiford, Travis Raiford, Emily Raiford and Natalie Raiford of Center Point; and nephew, Jaydon Westfall.

Services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007, 1 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Max Dunks. Interment will follow at Center Point Cemetery.

W.J. Courtney
Born in Jackson, MS on December 18, 1927
Departed on July 25, 2003 and resided in Bandera, TX.

W.J. Courtney, 75, of Bandera, was born December 18, 1927 in Jackson, Mississippi to J.N. and Ruby Lee Courtney and went to be with the Lord, July 25, 2003. He passed away at his home surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 32nd Degree Mason, member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Exotic Wildlife Association and was very generous and supportive of many youth and civic organizations throughout the county. He was instrumental in building the medical clinic here and recruiting a doctor for the area. Bill was also founder of one of the United State’s largest specialty construction services businesses.

After a successful business career in Houston, he and his wife of 57 years, Billie, moved permanently to their ranch here 15 years ago, which they developed into a wildlife breeding and hunting enterprise. He was also very active in the Thoroughbred breeding and racing industry where he has enjoyed the thrill of many winners.

Bill is survived by his wife, Billie of Bandera; daughter, Sherril and husband, Bill Barker of Houston; son, Craig Courtney and wife, Suzanne of Houston; son in law, Larry Christopher of Crockett; three grandsons, Matt and Brett Barker of Houston and Newton Hopkins of Dallas; two granddaughters, Chais Renee Courtney of Houston and Caitlin Christopher of Crockett and one great grandson, Blake Barker of Houston; also two sisters, Norma Bissell of Cypress and Elaine Thurman of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Patt Christopher.

Bill was blessed with many friends just as they were with his friendship. He had an infectious laugh, strong integrity and was an optimistic and humble man. He will be sorely missed. Happy Trails, my friend.

Services will be Tuesday, July 29, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church with Father Rick Dunham officiating. Interment will follow at the Episcopal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Barker, Newton Hopkins, Bobby Salyers, Bill Barker, Clifford Forrester and Fred Sherron.

The family requests that memorials may be made to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church of Bandera or VistaCare Foundation, 420 Water Street, Ste. 104, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

William Crabtree

William Craig

Mr. William Craig, age 84 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, March 15, 2004 at a local hospital. He was born March 24, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA to William Francis Craig and Harriett (Rice) Craig. He married Leah Bates in Bandera, TX on March 16, 1973.
Mr. Craig served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Kerrville Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Leah of Kerrville; daughter, Laura Lunquist of Fredericksburg; step-daughters, Debra Uli of Maine, Shelia Gragg of Kerrville, and Meleah Ragsdale of Ingram; sons, William Harry Craig and Levi Bill Craig, both of Kerrville; step-son, Tim Clendennen of Center Point; sister, Catherine Schoppe of Philadelphia, PA; and brothers, Harry and Robert Craig, both of Philadelphia.

Graveside services were held privately.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 18, 2004, 5:00 p.m. at Southern Oaks Baptist Church in Kerrville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Sandra Marie Cramer
Born in Evanston, IL on July 14, 1937

Sandra Marie Cramer, age 67 of Kerrville, passed peacefully away at her home on July 27, 2004.
She was born in Evanston, Illinois on July 14, 1937 to Walter and Edna Hamarlund. She moved to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin at an early age.

After receiving her R.N. and bachelor’s degrees in ward management and public health from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, she worked as a public health nurse in Polk County, Wisconsin until moving to New Brighton, Minnesota where she volunteered as a public health nurse in pre-school testing and other children’s school health issues for many years. Her gift of relating to children and adults and bringing them a smile will be missed by all who knew her. Her courage, faith, and cheerfulness in spite of a chronic disease were an inspiration to many friends and acquaintances.

She lived in Kerrville since 1996. She is survived by her husband and best friend for 45 years, Dr. Glen G. Cramer; son, Mark W. Cramer (Sandy) of Prior Lake, MN; daughter, Cathleen Amundson (David) of Carlsbad, CA; sister, Shirley Weller of Evanston, Illinois; and four grandchildren: Brent, Rachel, Danny, and Jim. A son, Michael J. Cramer preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held Monday, August 2, 2004, 10:30 a.m., First United Methodist Church, officiated by Dr. Warren Hornung. A private family service will be held at the Garden of Memories Mausoleum chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville,  Texas.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Elizabeth Jane Crawford
Born in Pryor, OK on May 21, 1919
Departed on August 9, 2003 and resided in Bandera, TX.

Elizabeth Jane Crawford, age 84 of Bandera, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2003 in a San Antonio Hospice Center. She was born May 21, 1919 in Pryor, OK to Charles Robert and Eleanor Jane Gilbert Crawford.

"Betty" lived in Corpus Christi,  Texas from 1955 until 1981 then moving to Camp Bandina, Bandera. She was a resident of Riverhills Care Center and she was a member of the Bandera Churchof Christ.

Survivors include one brother, John R. Crawford of Victoria,  Texas; two nephews and their six children. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Bandera Church of Christ

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.
