Thelma Aline Creel

Thelma Aline Creel was the daughter of Emos Coleman Creel and Mamie Crocker Creel. She was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi on September 2, 1915 and died on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2004 in Kerrville,  Texas. She grew up in Bay City,  Texas and later lived in Houston,  Texas. During that time she owned and operated her own business for 45 years.
Thelma moved to Kerrville,  Texas in 1989 to live near her niece, Johanna Roussel. Thelma became an active member of Notre Dame Church, where she served as president of Women of the Church from 1998-1999. She also was a member of Bible study, served on the Bereavement Committee, and participated in the Notre Dame Prayer Line. Thelma appreciated nature and was a dedicated gardener and member of the Kerrville Garden Club. With over 1000 hours of service, Thelma was a volunteer at the Cowboy Artist Museum.

Renowned for her great cooking, Thelma used her talent in the kitchen as a means of service to others. She was a stately and graceful woman who was active and independent until the time of her death. Thelma’s vigor for life was evident by her taking her dream heritage trip to Ireland, Scotland and England to celebrate her 85th birthday. Spanky and Beagie, her beloved dogs, will miss Thelma greatly. He entire family grieves the loss of "Aunt Thellie", yet celebrates a long life well lived.

Thelma Creel is survived by her nieces and nephews: Peggy Sewell Baker of Angleton,  Texas; Jack Creel of Angleton,  Texas; John Fredrik Oudt of Ft. Worth,  Texas; Johanna Oudt Roussel of Kerrville,  Texas and numerous great nieces and nephews. Thelma was predeceased by her brothers, Loren Creel and Vernon J. Creel and her sisters, Edith Sewell and Grace L. Oudt.

Memorial mass for Thelma will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Michael Boulette, celebrant.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the Bereavement Committee of Notre Dame Catholic Church

Robert J. Crenshaw
Born in Ingram, TX on December 5, 1939
Departed on April 10, 2003 and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Service Date: Monday, April 14, 2003
Service Location: Grimes Funeral Chapels

Mr. Robert Jessie Crenshaw, age 63 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born in Ingram,  Texas on Dec. 5, 1939 to P.A. & Elizabeth (Crowell) Crenshaw. He married Peggy Ann Alexander in Ingram on August 20, 1959.

Robert attended Ingram Elementary and graduated from Tivy High School. He was a charter member of the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department. He started his working with the State of  Texas Highway Department and became a licensed civil engineer, which he practiced his entire career. He worked for several state agencies before starting several businesses in Houston, Austin and Kerrville. Robert also worked for Dupont and Demar Engineering. He was an avid music buff and loved to play guitar in the Chet Akins style and he also enjoyed steel guitar music.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ann Alexander Crenshaw of Kerrville; two daughters, Nancy Ann Crenshaw Cottington of Cedar Park,  Texas and Amanda Elaine Crenshaw of Kerrville; one son, Christopher Robert Crenshaw of Juneau, Alaska; two grandchildren, Courtney Anne Cottington and Cade Levi Cottington; one sister, Linda Sue Crenshaw Jenschke and husband, Steve and one brother, Paul Anthony (Tony) Crenshaw & wife, Tammy.

Services will be held, Monday, April 14, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Everett Alexander, Jr., Adam Jenschke, Steve Jenschke, Bob Sadlowski, Bradly Walker and Brien Alexander.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Henry L. Cruz
Born in San Antonio, TX on December 1, 1936
Departed on May 13, 2004, and resided in Bandera, TX

Service Location: St. Stanislaus Catholic Church

Henry L. Cruz, age 67 of Bandera, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 in Kerrville. He was born December 1, 1936 in San Antonio to Eusibio and Josefina Lara Cruz. On June 10, 1981, he married Guadalupe "Lupe" Fuentes in Las Vegas, NV.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #10258, member of Guadalupanos Society, former member and commander of the American Legion, and he served his country as a proud member of the US Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Lupe of Bandera; two daughters, Annette Villanueva of Cedar Park, TX and Jeannette Velasquez and husband, Roger of San Antonio; son, Jesse Valos and wife, Lee Ann of Lawton, OK; brother, Joe Cruz of San Antonio; grandchildren, Crystal Villanueva, Nadia Velasquez and Christopher Wadsworth; and one great grandchild, Natalie Villanueva.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Sunday, May 16, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera.

A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, May 17, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera with Father Leo Martinez as celebrant. Interment will follow in the New Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

Opal Pauline Cullison
Born in Mounds, OK on September 25, 1917
Departed on May 26, 2003 and resided in Kingsland, TX.

Mrs. Opal Pauline Cullison, age 85 of Kingsland, TX passed away Monday, May 26, 2003 at a Kerrville nursing home. She was born September 25, 1917 in Mounds, OK to James Willie Sanders and Dewey Mathew Looney Sanders. She married Herbert R. Cullison on November 30, 1936 in Nowata, OK.

Mrs. Cullison was a resident of Kingsland for 22 years and a prior resident of Odessa. Opal was a retired Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Butler and Shirley Bryan, both of Odessa and Jan Jeter of Kingsland; three sons, Stan Cullison of Kerrville, Bill Cullison of Dallas, and Herb Cullison of Teague; sixteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert R. Cullison on April 8, 1985.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Grimes Funeral Chapel from 2-4 p.m.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 30, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Ector County Cemetery in Odessa with Rev. Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist Church in Odessa, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Helen Cummings.
Born in Taylor, TX on December 4, 1911
Departed on November 19, 2003, and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Mrs. Helen Wickson Cummings, age 91 of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at a local nursing home. She was born December 4, 1911 in Taylor, TX to Alfred Hugo Otto and Thekla (Weilbacher) Otto. In March of 1935, she married E.T. Wickson in Kerrville, TX. He preceded her death on September 5, 1990. On May 24, 1998, she married Clarence L. Cummings in Schertz, TX. He preceded her death on November 10, 2003.

Helen graduated from  Taylor High School in 1930 and attended  Texas Lutheran College for two years. She taught two years in rural schools and one year at Round Rock. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville and the Zion Lutheran Church Women’s Group, the Dietert Claim Choral Group and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Ann Braun and husband, Bob of Schertz, TX; sister, Trudie Jarvis and husband, Wayne of Kerrville; brother, Walter Otto and wife, Renna of Arizona; grandchildren, Vicki Rudloff and husband, Troy of Round Top, TX, Mark Braun and Dan Benjamin, both of Guam; great grandchildren, Mandi Rudloff and Allysa Rudloff.

Services will be Friday, November 21, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Douglas McBride and Pastor David Chancellor. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Troy Rudloff and David Blank.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2003, 4-7 p.m. at Grimes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Zion Lutheran Church Youth Fund, 624 Barnett, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Huldah Real Cunningham
Born in Kerrville, TX on May 12, 1918
Departed on December 1, 2003, and resided in Conway, AR.

Huldah Real Cunningham, age 85, passed away Monday, December 1, 2003 at Heritage Nursing Center in Conway, Arkansas. She was born May 12, 1918 in Kerrville,  Texas, daughter of the late Felix Real, Sr. and Esther Real.

Mrs. Cunningham was a graduate of Tivy High School and attended the University of  Texas.

Mrs. Cunningham was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Conway and the former Circle 4. She was also a member of Conway Newcomers Club and Conway Quilters. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening and she loved entertaining people in her home.

Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lewis T. Cunningham, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edna Priour of Ingram, TX.

Survivors include her two sons, Jack Cunningham of Springer, OK and Jerry Cunningham of Conway, AR; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Felix Real, Jr. of Utopia; four sisters, Ella Fisher of Hunt, Frances Stevens of Hunt, Meta Syfan of Mountain Home and Elma Acree of Houston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.

Pallbearers will be Jack Cunningham, Jr., Lewis Cunningham, Casper Real, Lary Priour, Jack Stevens, Jr., and Charles Dobbs.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 67, Ingram, TX 78025.

Pauline "Polly" Curtis
Born in Walker County, TX on September 18, 1915
Departed on August 13, 2003 and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Curtis, age 87 of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2003 in a local nursing home. She was born in Walker County, TX to Henry Lee and Gertrude (Norman) Harman on September 18, 1915. On December 30, 1936, she married George Wallace Curtis in Anderson, TX.

Polly was an endowed member of the Goose Creek Eastern Star Chapter and the Kerrville Eastern Star Chapter. She worked for the Baytown Independent School District and had retired after 20 years of employment. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kerrville.

Survivors include her husband, George Curtis of Kerrville and two nieces, Carol Kilgore of Portland, TX and Vanna Crocker of Kerrville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Cecil Lee Harman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel with Dr. David McFadden officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kerrville, 625  Washington, Kerrville, TX 78028 or to the Masonic Home and School of  Texas, P.O. Box 15040, Ft. Worth, TX 76119.

George Campbell Davis, Sr.

George Campbell Davis, Sr., born August 28, 1927 in Nacogdoches, TX, passed away November 30, 2003 at 76 years of age in a Kerrville hospital.

George was raised and attended school in Galena Park, TX. He married Nell Rose Buckley in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1981. George was employed with Diamond Shamrock for several years and was also employed with Lubrizol for numerous years. George was the owner of the Barge Restaurant in Oak Island for several years. He lived in Oak Island for approximately 45 years. Just recently, six weeks ago, George and wife, Sue had moved to Kerrville. George was a very hard working man and fishing was his favorite past time until he became ill. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke and tease. He did many good things for lots of people and truly had a heart of gold. He believed in God and often referred to him as the man upstairs. George, "Pappaw"or Daddy, as we all knew him, will be missed dearly.

George is survived by his wife, Sue Davis of Kerrville; daughter, Kathy Nell Evans of Jacinto City, TX; son and daughter-in-law, George, Jr. and Barbara Davis of Cove,  Texas; step-daughters, Kathy Riels of Hondo, Glenda Butts of Baytown and Sherry Norton and husband, Terry of Houston; step-sons and their wives, Stan and Frances Oliver of Baytown and Gary and Michele Oliver of Clear Lake; brothers and their wives, Gesna and Evelyn Davis of Mineral Wells, TX, Jim and Reggie Davis of Anahuac, TX and Johnny and Sandra Davis of Victoria, TX; brother-in-law, Bill Davis of Houston; four grandchildren, Amy Hobbs of Houston, Jimmy Evans of Houston, Tiffany Davis of Baytown and Brent Davis of Clear Lake; thirteen step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, TX. Interment will follow at Anahuac Cemetery.

Visitation will be held, Tuesday, December 2, 2003, 5-7 p.m. at Sterling Funeral Home.

Local arrangements were entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Rosa Fernandez De La Rosa, age 84 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at her residence. She was born November 13, 1919 in Barksdale, TX to Jose and Juanita (Fernandez) De La Rosa.
Rosa was a beloved mother and grandmother, a devoted Christian woman, and a member of Iglesia de Cristo. She led a life filled with lots of love that she would spread to everyone around her. Her family was her everything. No matter where you were or what you were doing, you always knew that God would take care of you because she always kept you in her prayers. Rosa will be missed dearly.

Survivors include daughter, Dianna Castillo; son, Jose De La Rosa; sister, Mary Jimenez; brother, Alejandro De La Rosa and wife, Socorro; grandchildren, Lisa Munoz and husband, Jesse, Roxanne Quintero and husband, Martin, Frankie De La Rosa and wife, Kristine, Chris Castillo, Joe De La Rosa and wife, Jennifer and Janie Morales and husband, Juan; and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Juanita De La Rosa.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 20, 2004, 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Services will be Friday, May 21, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Mr. Juan Villa. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
