Mary Josephine Evelo Ellis, age 84, a resident of Kerrville since 1982, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004 at a local nursing home. She was born July 3, 1919 in Houston, TX to Albert and Alice (Dawe) Evelo. On December 24, 1939, she married Robert Ellis in Bellaire, TX.
Mrs. Ellis was an apartment manager and of the Methodist faith. She was a beloved wife and mother who devoted her life to her family. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Ellis of Kerrville; daughter, Karen J. Conway of Harper; grandchildren, Laurie Castaneda and Mary Allison Tschanz and four great grandchildren; nieces, Deborah Lynch of  Oklahoma City, OK and Tamara Shelby of Houston; great nieces, Sarah Chimblo, Megan Mills and Jill Lynch.

Graveside services will be held, Wednesday, May 19, 2004, 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, officiated by Rev. Rick Smith.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Fleta Schladoer Elsworth
Born in Bandera County, TX on November 17, 1911
Departed on November 29, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Mrs. Fleta Schladoer Elsworth, 93, formerly of Bandera, passed away Monday, November 29, 2004 in a Fredericksburg care facility where she had been a resident several months. On November 17, 1911, she was born in Bandera County to Leonidas "Lon" Joiner and Emma Gray Joiner.
She attended schools in Bandera area and was an accomplished young lady. In Boerne, TX on May 16, 1930, she married Bennie Schladoer, who preceded her in death on December 10, 1961. About two years after his death, she sold their ranch on Lower Mason Creek and bought a home on the corner of Cherry and 14th Streets in Bandera. She resided there and cared for several aged people in her home until 1972 when she married Clarence Elsworth on September 30, in San Antonio. After their marriage, they enjoyed traveling and visiting many places of interest. Mr. Elsworth passed away on January 22, 1984. Mrs. Elsworth later moved to Kerrville where she resided seven years before she moved to Fredericksburg.

She is survived by two daughters: Bennie Jean O’Neill and husband, Patrick Ney of Pipe Creek and Lois Ann Schulte and husband, Alfred, Jr., of Kerrville; two sons, Richard Lon Schladoer and wife, Patricia Ann (Ritcheson) of Kerrville and Ernest Marvin Schladoer and wife, Vivian (Hay) of Bandera; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 step-sons, Joe, Jerry, and Edward Elsworth; a step-daughter, Wanda Jean Elsworth Robbins.

In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lee Lois Joiner Pickens; 3 grandchildren, Michael Ray Schulte, Julie Nell Schulte Donaldson and Wendy Lee Schladoer; and a great grandchild, Megan Elisabeth Tobin.

Mrs. Elsworth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bandera where funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Karl Biermann officiating. Interment will follow in the Bandera Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

Arthur H. Erfurt
Born in Tarpley, TX on July 28, 1921

Arthur H. Erfurt, age 82 of Tarpley, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born on July 28, 1921 in Tarpley to Henry William and Ella Vollmering Erfurt. On August 6, 1947, he married Georgia Mae Anderson in Hondo.
Mr. Erfurt served his country by joining the Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Erfurt Construction, was a member of  Texas Farm Bureau,  Texas Cattlemen’s Association, a member of Bandera Masonic Lodge #1123, member of American Legion, and the VFW. He was a former Bandera ISD School Board Member and he owned Erfurt Tarpley General Store form 1957-1978. In addition to his wife, Georgia Mae of Tarpley, survivors include two daughters, Ella Mae Sandidge and husband, Dan of Tarpley, and Marcia Short and husband, Les of Bandera; son, Artie Erfurt and wife, Bunny of Bandera; sister, Hilda Caldwell and husband, Jack of Adkins, AR; two brothers, Leroy Erfurt and wife, Lois of Bandera, and Robert Erfurt and wife, Charlotte of Bandera; four grandchildren, Matt Sandidge and wife, Angela, Carrie Sandidge, Sara D’Spain and husband, Travis, and Lauryn Erfurt; two grandchildren, Logan and Delaney Sandidge, and one on the way, Georgia Ann D’Spain; special nephew, Rick Anderson and wife, Claire Jo and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004, 10:00 a.m., Grimes Chapel, with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Tarpley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Erfurt, Howard Billings, Darrell Wehmeyer, Gerald Wehmeyer, Joe Hearn and Glynn Rainey.

Memorials may be made to the Tarpley Volunteer Fire Department and/or the Kidney Foundation.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

Harold B. Eskew, Sr.
Born in Peutona, WV on April 10, 1922
Departed on November 25, 2003, and resided in Center Point, TX.

Mr. Harold B. Eskew, Sr., age 81 of Center Point, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born April 10, 1922 in Peutona, WV to Charles and Thelma (Chandler) Eskew.

Harold was a master electrician and an Electrical Inspector for Union Charbide Chemical.

He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946. Harold was a Justice of the Peace in Port Lavaca, TX in the 1980's. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two daughters, Pat Swofford of Center Point and Kristy Eskew of Corpus Christi; two sons, Harold Eskew, Jr., of Dickinson, TX and Larry Eskew of Big Chimney, WV; three sisters, Fanny McCabe, Dolly Grube and Catherine Carouthers; one brother, Jim Eskew; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 28, 2003, 9:15 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, officiated by Harold Eskew, Jr.

Melinda Duke Evans

William T. Evans
Born in Kress, TX on April 17, 1917

William T. Evans passed away March 20, 2004 at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio. He was born April 17, 1917 in Kress,  Texas to William P. and Grace Evans and attended schools in Plainview,  Texas.
William married Rowena Hamilton of Plainview on May 17, 1936. He lived in San Diego, CA for more than 50 years where he was active in the Baptist church. He was employed by and retired from San Diego County. He moved to Kerrville in 1990 and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He had Lapidary interests in California and was a member of Fredericksburg Rock Club.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rowena Evans of Kerrville; son, Walter Evans of San Diego, CA; daughter, Dana Jepsen of Angel Fire, NM; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; sister, Eloise Waldon of Grants Pass, OR and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. John Petty with graveside services following at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mr. Evan’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2004, 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Robert Wynne ("Bobby") Ewing
Born in Baytown, TX on September 29, 1928

Robert Wynne ("Bobby") Ewing, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 22, 2004. Robert was born in Baytown, TX on September 29, 1928. On November 25, 1948, he married his wife, Patricia.

Mr. Ewing served two years in the United States Army. He worked at the Humble refinery (now Exxon-Mobil) from 1946 until his retirement in 1996 as a Senior Systems Analyst. He and his wife retired to Kerrville in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oral Wynne Ewing; mother, Pebble Todd Ewing; and daughter, Rebecca Lynn Ewing Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Christopher Robert of Kerrville; son, Terry Wynne Ewing and wife, Carmen of Baytown, TX; son, David Wayne Ewing and wife, Patricia Gail of Baytown, TX; sister, Joy Greenawalt of Brenham, TX; sister, Jeanne Warren of Houston, TX; seven granddaughters, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to acknowledge his co-workers in Baytown, TX: John Anderson, Charlie Bates, Dean Essery, Ken Hill, Mike Larson, Jerry Simmons, Johnny Walker and Dan Mowry of Baton Rouge, LA. They were not just co-workers, but very special and caring friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2004 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, TX.

Private memorial services will be held later by the family, where they will share their memories of his life on Earth and celebrate his journey Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vista Care Hospice, 420 Water St., Kerrville, TX 78028, would be appreciated.

Mr. Hubert Wayne Farris, Age 82, of Lubbock,  Texas, died on Thursday, November 25, 2004, in a Kerrville hospital. Mr. Farris was born on July 2, 1922, in Lometa,  Texas, to Harvey Ozean Farris and Lockie Myrtle Crawford Farris.
Mr. Farris served his country honorably in the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was retired from the County of Los Angeles, California, as a legal assistant.

Survivors, Two sisters, Alto Cole of Katy,  Texas and Marie Moore of Bandera,  Texas; Two brothers, Harold O. Farris of Lubbock,  Texas and Ronald M. Farris of Gainsville, Florida.

Private family services to be held.

William Felfe

William Felfe, age 79, a resident of Kerrville for 6 years, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at a local nursing home. He was born April 13, 1925 in Thorndale, TX to William Oswald and Nora (Dornbusch) Felfe.
Mr. Felfe served his country in the US Navy during World War II and Korea. He worked for a printing company as a printer.

Survivors include two sisters, Ester Olson of  Washington State and Erma Neimtschk of Thorndale, TX; three brothers, Walter Felfe of Center Point, TX, Clarence Felfe of Lawton, OK and Bob Felfe of Spicewood, TX and grandson, Bryant Reedy of Sullivan, IL.

No services will be held.

Louise Flick
Born in Hillsboro, TX on February 16, 1925

Mrs. Louise Flick, age 78 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at a local hospital. She was born February 16, 1925 in Hillsboro, TX to Edward L. Roberson and Edna (Dody) Roberson. On July 14, 1944, she married Eugene Flick in Bryan, TX.

Louise was a retired canteen manager at the Kerrville State Hospital. She was a member of the Kerrville Church of Christ on Sidney Baker.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Flick, Sr., of Kerrville; three sons, Eugene "Butch" Flick, Jr., and wife, Fran of Cape Coral, FL, Timothy Merle "Tim" Flick and wife, Leslie of Doss, TX, and Gerald D. "Jerry" Flick and wife, Hillie of Killeen, TX; four grandchildren, Jamie Flick of Kerrville, Timothy Gerald Flick of Harper, Nina Flick and Stefanie Flick, both of Killeen, TX; and three great grandchildren, Trace Flick, Sheana Flick and Chadd Flick, all of Harper, TX.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Frankie Enloe.
