Claud Bennett Jordan
Born on August 26, 1940 in Brazoria County, TX
Departed on May 5, 2007 and resided in Ingram, TX

Service Date: May 9, 2007

Claud Bennett Jordan, born on August 26, 1940, in Brazoria County,  Texas, to Birdie Allen Jordan and Dora Couch Jordan, died on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at a Kerrville hospital. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Ingram. He always said that the rest of his family were all born here, but he had to wait til he was three days old before he could get here. He loved Ingram,  Texas more than any other place on earth.
Bennett was the most honest, straight forward person God ever made. No one was ever in doubt about where he stood on anything.

For Bennett, family was everything. He gave his unconditional love to his children, stepchildren and grandchildren. He was the best kind of role model they could have ever had. He loved them and was never afraid to let them know how much they were loved. He said he had the best family a man could ever hope for. He was so proud of each and every one of them.

Bennett was in the Army, then the National Guard. He worked for the Hill Country Telephone Co-op, then had a business in Houston for 3 ½ years. He said he knew after a week away, he needed to get back to Ingram. He came back and opened the Variety Store and other businesses in Ingram. He then went to work for himself. He became a director for the Hill Country Telephone Co-Op almost 30 years ago, and did that just as he did everything else–with his whole heart.

He loved the Hill Country Stock Show. Bennett was involved in pretty much every aspect of it all of his adult life. For him, everything about the stock show was always "about the babies." If a child couldn’t buy an animal, Bennett was there. If a child needed advice about that animal, Bennett was there. His generosity was always centered on the children.

Survivors, Wife, Aleta Lackey Jordan of Ingram; children, Claud Jordan, Jr. and wife Tracey of Ingram, Claudette Halvorson and husband J. C. of San Antonio, Willy Hyatt and wife Cathy of Kerrville and Erin Holloway of Kerrville; grandchildren, Tadge Davis, Hunter Brophy, Claud Jordan, III, Tatumn Kierce, Brittney Guild, Tregg Kierce; Brother, Eugene Jordan and wife Elsa of  Johnson City; Sisters, Marie Eckhardt and husband Lee Harry of Fredericksburg and Judy Jordan of Pottsville; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M., on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services, 2:00 P. M., Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with Brother Jimmy Allen, officiating. Interment to follow at Nichols Cemetery, with Randy Olson, Jerry Stephens, Mannie Lackey, Michael Lackey, Bubba Lackey, Randy Bass, Billy Chisum, James Hall, Gary Priour and Sonny Hutchison serving as pallbearers.

Memorial remembrances honoring Claud Bennett Jordan may be made to Hill Country Youth Ranch, P. O. Box 67, Ingram,  Texas 78025.

If you were Bennett’s friend, you knew it. To him, life is family, friends, children and John Wayne
