Mr. Kindred passed on July 23, 2003 at a local care center. He was born in Perry, KS on March 31, 1940.

Bill Worked for J.C. Penney Company for 29 years and changed careers in 1988. He served the chemically dependent as a counselor, employed by La Hacienda until his death.

He was an active man who professionally drove race cars in the 1970's and later turned into a "cowboy," owning two horses which he trained with loving care. He loved the outdoors, and he loved and cherished all animals. He was a gentle man with a sense of humor people enjoyed. He was "everyone’s" man.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Chris, who lives in Alabama; his mother Ina Juanita Kindred and his sister, Sheryl Nealy, who both live in Georgia. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 27, 2003, 3:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Pastor Wes Weston officiating.

Please do not send flowers. Instead, donations will be appreciated by the Sonlight Chapel Building Fund at 128 W. Kelly, Center Point, TX 78010 or The House of Hope, 829 Earl Garrett in Kerrville.

Barbara Anne Kindred
Born in Noristown, PA on March 10, 1943
Departed on November 29, 2003, and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Barbara Anne Kindred, born on March 10, 1943, died on November 29, 2003, at her home in Kerrville,  Texas, after putting up a good fight, but losing her battle with cancer. Barbara lived most of her life in  Pennsylvania and moved to Lewisville,  Texas, in 1984. She and her husband later moved to the Hill Country in 1996.

Barbara received her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at  Texas Woman's University and her graduate degree in Counseling at the University of North  Texas. She worked for many years providing service to those suffering from mental health illnesses and substance abuse. She was a member of the Sonlight Chapel in Center Point,  Texas.

She is survived by her mother Ruth E. Hessler of Royersford,  Pennsylvania; Daughters, Nancy L. Savina of Shady Shores,  Texas, and Helene R. Benedetti of Brooklyn, New York; Sons, Stephen M. Savina of Austin,  Texas and James J. Savina of Dallas,  Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband William Franklin Kindred on July 23, 2003.

Memorial services for Barbara Anne Kindred will be held for family and friends at 6:00 P. M., Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with Rev. Wes Weston, Officiating. After the memorial service, a time of fellowship will be held at The House of Hope, 829, Earl Garrett, Kerrville,  Texas.

Roger Otis King
Born in San Antonio, TX on February 6, 1925
Departed on May 14, 2003 and resided in Comfort, TX.

Mr. Roger Otis King passed away May 14, 2003 in Comfort at the age of 78. He was born in San Antonio on February 6, 1925. Mr. King served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war he and his wife, Tirzah Milene "Mollie" King relocated to Northern California where he owned and operated a scrap metal and demolition business, King Salvage. After selling his business in 1970 to his nephew, Roger Otis King II, he and his family moved back to  Texas and settled in Comfort. King, past owner of King’s Salvage, was known for his generosity to the community and showed support throughout the Hill Country to various organizations. He actually attended Knox Elementary School in San Antonio and was know to say "I graduated from the school of ‘Hard Knocks.’" If you would ask him what he did for a living his favorite response would be, "My wife and I are in the iron and steel business; she irons and I steal." In business, he is best remembered as the man that always had a "good deal." As a friend, he is remembered for his sense of humor and his famous coffee breaks.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Tirzah Milene "Mollie" King; his son, Robin King and wife, Lilia of Comfort and their children, Avery and Roger Otis King IV (Roky), as well as Kelly Zamarippa, her husband, Manual and their child, Mariah, Roger’s only great grandchild. He is further survived by daughter, Cassie Alex, her husband, Steve and their children, Kevin Alex, Chet Alex, and Carissa Saur of Kerrville; daughter, Marti Ashcraft and husband, Terry Ashcraft of Comfort and their children, Apryl Ashcraft, Victoria King, Elizabeth Ashcraft, and David Roger King Ashcraft; and son, Saun Otis King and his children, Tirzah, Sihara, Harvest and Kendall King of Del Rio.

Memorial services will be held Monday, May 19, 2003 at 10:30 am at the Comfort Baptist Church in Comfort, officiated by Rev. Jim Holt. Mr. King will be buried in private services held at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.

Memorials can be made to Peterson Hospice of Kerrville or the charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Daniel A. "Danny" Klein
Born in Kerrville, TX on November 14, 1946

Mr. Daniel A. "Danny" Klein, Age 57, of Kerrville,  Texas, died on Saturday, March 20, 2004, in a Kerrville nursing center. Mr. Klein, a lifetime resident of Kerrville, was born on November 14, 1946, in Kerrville, to Alouis Charles Klein and Lucille Grona Klein.
Danny was a self employed carpenter and a volunteer at the Hill Country Junior District Livestock Show in Kerrville for many years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors, Father, Alouis Klein of Kerrville; Daughter, Shaylene Klein of San Antonio; Sons, James Klein of Harper, Dan Klein of Kerrville, Russell Klein of Kerrville and Jeffery Klein of Yorktown; Sister, Carol Behnsch of Pearsall; and Six grandchildren.

Funeral Services, 2:00 P. M., Monday, March 22, 2004, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mildred Knobel
Born in Minneapolis, MN on November 19, 1915
Departed on May 14, 2003 and resided in Ingram, TX.

Mrs. Mildred Knobel, age 87 of Ingram, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2003 at her residence. No services will be held at this time. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Herman J. "Bud" Knoop
Born in Levinworth, KS on January 17, 1927
Departed on April 10, 2003 and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Mr. Herman J. "Bud" Knoop, age 76 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003 in a local hospital. He was born in Levinworth, Kansas on January 17, 1927 to Herman J. Knoop and Mary Rawls Knoop. He married Maggie Waunette Roach on October 24, 1949 in Raton, New Mexico.

Bud was a Mason and belonged to the Kerrville Masonic Lodge #697 since he moved here in 1998 and he was a Mason for over forty years. He served in the Navy during World War II and he came home to meet and marry his wife, Waunette and to start a family that would sustain and bring him happiness for over 53 years. Bud was a loving husband and good father who did anything and everything for his family and friends. If a person’s wealth could be measured in the amount of friends they had, then Bud was truly a rich man.

He is survived by his wife, Waunette Knoop of Kerrville; three daughters, Judy Stone, Kay Koller, and Susie Sitzmann, all of Colorado; one son, Don Knoop of Colorado; two sisters, Jan Knoop and Alma Arbuckle, both of Colorado; one brother, Harry Knoop of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jill Cloud, Kane Knoop, Laura Stone, David Knoop, Levi Koller, Rachel Koller, Luke Stone, and Jessica Knoop, all of Colorado; and four great grandchildren, Daxton Cloud, Joshua Koller, Dominic Knoop and Jordan Knoop, all of Colorado.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2003, 2:00 p.m., at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor John Petty and Chaplain Ted Hinton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Robert Phillip (Bobby) Koch
Born in Fredericksburg, TX on February 10, 1927
Departed on November 19, 2003, and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Robert Phillip (Bobby) Koch, passed away November 19, 2003, at his home, with his wife at his side.

Bobby was a resident of Kerrville since 1961. He was born in Fredericksburg,  Texas to Emil and Thekla (Herbort) Koch on February 10, 1927. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Following his discharge, he graduated from Schreiner Institute and  Texas A&I, Kingsville. He worked for Stanolind Oil & Gas until he moved to Kerrville, where he and his brother Henry owned and operated Ban-Kerr Tobacco & Candy Co. until 1985.

Bobby lived a full life as a man of infinite kindness, compassion, strength, love and wisdom.

Bobby’s joys in life were his family, friends and playing golf. His bright smile and persistent strength throughout his illness will always be an inspiration to us all.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Jeannine Koch; Jeannine’s cousins, Syliva (Sam) Causey and husband, John; Mary Doyle and husband, Eddie; Regina Metcalf and husband, Jimmy, their children, Tommy and Alyssa; his sister, Betty Birck and husband, Kenneth of Wichita Falls; his brother, Phillip and wife, Margaret; his sister-in-law, Lou Koch; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbor, Judy Brandt.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil and Thekla (Herbort) Koch; brothers, Kermit and Henry Koch and sister Dorothy Reichenau.

Bobby’s family will miss him and remember his lifelong qualities of kindness, patience, humor and honesty. His outlook on life was one of always being positive, optimistic and willingness to see the best in others.

Services will be held Friday, November 21, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Pastor David C. Chancellor. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of  Texas, 7475 Callaghan Rd., San Antonio, TX 78229.

Pearle Howell Koehler
Born in Ingram, TX on September 8, 1926
Departed on October 17, 2003, and resided in Port Arthur, TX.

Pearle Howell Koehler, Age 86, of Hunt,  Texas, passed away Friday, October 17, 2003, in Kerrville. Ms. Koehler was born May 31, 1917, in Ingram to James and Lucy New Howell.
Pearle married her husband Earlan Koehler, on April 26, 1942, in Ingram. She was Earlan’s devoted wife and loving partner until his passing on December 16, 1999. Pearle and Earlan operated the Koehler Kottages in Hunt until 1981. Pearle helped start and was an avid supporter of the Hill Country Youth Ranches. Pearle was an active member of the Hunt Methodist Church.

Ms. Koehler is survived by one daughter, Kathy Koehler McKay of Abilene; one son, Frank Koehler and wife Kathy of Penfield, New York; five grandchildren, Ron Koehler, Randy Koehler, Cindy Cannon, Bruce Birdwell, and Beverly McChesney; and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ms. Koehler will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2003, at Hunt Methodist Church, with Rev. John Green, officiating. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery.

Mrs. Koehler will lie in state at 12:00 noon Monday, October 20, 2003. The family will receive friends at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Wednesday, October 22, 2003, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Hunt Methodist Church, PO Box 137, Hunt, TX 78024 or to the Hill Country Youth Ranch, PO Box 87, Ingram TX 78025.

Ray Lackey, Sr.
Born in Kerrville, TX on August 30, 1953
Departed on January 26, 2004, and resided in Ingram, TX

Mr. Ray Lackey, Sr., age 50 of Ingram, passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 in a Ft. Sam Houston, TX hospital. He was born August 30, 1953 in Kerrville to Ted and Nelda (Willis) Lackey.

Ray was part of the evacuation of the U.S. military during the  Vietnam War. He worked at VA Medical Center in Kerrville for 28 years. Ray was a man with a big, big heart and cared a lot for others. He brought strength to everyone around him.

Ray was a member of Calvary Temple Church of Center Point and Comfort.

He is survived by his parents, Ted and Nelda Lackey of Tow, TX; grandmothers, Vivien Hedges and Leona Smith; daughters, Rachel Barney and Ashley Lackey, both of Kerrville; son, Ray Lackey, Jr., of Kerrville; sisters, Linda Green and Sandra Pool, both of Ingram; brothers, Larry Lackey of Ingram and Jamie Lackey of San Antonio; and one grandchild, Randall Barney.

Services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Pastor Troy Way. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Mountain Home.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, 5-7 p.m. at Grimes.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Beulah Webb Laird
Born in Manor, TX on October 8, 1916
Departed on November 23, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Service Date: November 27, 2004
Service Location: Garden of Memories

Went to be with the Lord November 23, 2004, in El Paso,  Texas. Born October 8, 1916 to Thomas B. and Lou Glenn Webb in Manor,  Texas. Married Carman L. Laird June 25, 1954, who preceded her in death.
A member of First Baptist Church both in Kerrville and El Paso, she is survived by her son Thomas A. Laird and his wife Cherie, son James Laird, four grandchildren, Traci Laird, Brad Laird and wife Andrea, and Pier Laird. She is also survived by one nephew, Hardie Webb Jr. and numerous other cousins.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, November 27 at 2:00 p.m., at Garden of Memories in Kerrville  Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church El Paso Music Ministry, 805 Montana, El Paso, TX, 79902.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.
