Ruby Lee Dunks Lauderdale

Ruby Lee Dunks Lauderdale passed from this earthly life to her home in Heaven on July 23, 2004. Ruby was born in Hawthorn,  Texas on November 7, 1916 to Oscar and Lucy (Walker) Jones.
Oscar and Lucy were farmers in southeast  Texas. Ruby lived her childhood years on the farm. She experienced and passed on to her children the values of hard work for desired goals. In 1933, she married Robert Alton Dunks. Their lives were shared for 40 years in the cattle ranching business, twenty four years of which were in Kerr County. She loved the country life. She and Alton had four children, Max, Paul, Judy and John. After the death of Alton, Ruby married Bluford Lauderdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alton; a son, Paul I. Dunks; four brothers, Gaston, Marvin, Suel and Gerald Jones, and her second husband, Bluford Lauderdale.

Ruby is survived by sons, Max E. Dunks and wife, Joan; John R. Dunks and wife, Patti; widow of son Paul, Mary Ann; and daughter, Judy Lindsey and husband, Arlen; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and three sisters, Alma Griffin of  Texas City, TX, Marie Higgins & husband, Bobby of East Weymouth, MA and Jackie Adams of Highlands, TX.

Ruby became a Christian at an early age. She was involved in and loved her church from that time and throughout her life. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and made her home a place where both church youth and adults socialized. Ruby is a member of First Baptist Church, Kerrville.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 25, 2004, 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Services will be held Monday, July 26, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Kerrville, officiated by Rev. Max Dunks and Dr. David McFadden. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Adams, Jerry Jones, Michael Griffin, Pat Griffin, Milton Bell and David McCutchen.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kerrville.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville .

Bennie L. Lee
Born in Galveston, TX on October 1, 1934

Mrs. Bennie L. Lee, age 68 of Kerrville, passed away Friday, September 19, 2003 at a local hospital. She was born October 1, 1934 in Galveston, TX to Walter L. Blackburn and Virginia (Stanley) Blackburn.

Bennie was a checker at Wal-Mart and of the Lutheran faith.

She is survived by her two daughters, Suzi Hunter of Australia and Dawn Lee of Kerrville; son, Donald Lee of Galveston; sister, Ann Gately of Galveston; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

No services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, New York, 10006 or online at www.lungusa.org.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

David Logan Lee
Born in San Antonio, TX on July 9, 1991
Departed on September 10, 2003 and resided in Ingram, TX.

David Logan Lee, age 12 of Ingram, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at a San Antonio hospital. He was born July 9, 1991 in San Antonio, to David Rex Lee and Racheal Gresham Lee.

David was a seventh grade student at Ingram Middle School.

He is survived by his father, David Lee of Ingram; grandmother, Freddie Lee of Ingram; grandmother, Vickie Gresham of Reno, NV and aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be Saturday, September 13, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Viola Laura Lehne
Born in Harper, TX on March 14, 1924

Mrs. Viola Laura Lehne, Age 80, of Kerrville,  Texas, died on Friday, November 26, 2004, at her residence. Viola was born on March 14, 1924, in Harper,  Texas, to Hilmar Wahrmund and Amelia Fritz Wahrmund. She worked as a nurses aide for over 30 years and was a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church.
Survivors: Son, James Hagan and wife Keri; Grandchildren, Catricia Hagan and Jeremiah Jesse Hagan, Christopher and Mallory Williams; Great Grandchild, Lillie Hagan; Brothers, Walter Wahrmund and Alonzo Wahrmund and his wife Kathryn; Brother-in-Law, Robert Jenschke; Nieces and Nephews, Joselyn (Wahrmund) Conner and husband Melvin, Katherine May (Wahrmund) Walker and husband Hollis, Vernon Gene Wahrmund and wife Sharon, Karen (Wahrmund) Storms and husband Chuck, Allan Wahrmund and wife Lorraine, Dennis Wahrmund and wife Alice, Marian Wahrmund, David Wahrmund and wife Toni, Diane (Wahrmund) Richards and husband Joe David, Charlotte (Jenschke) Kohler, and Kenneth Jenschke and wife Micki.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lehne, Brother, Ervin Wahrmund, Sister, Mary (Wahrmund) Jenschke, Sisters-in-law, Gloria (Jenschke) Wahrmund and Josephine (Pehl) Wahrmund, Nephews, Ervin Wahrmund, Jr. and Anthony Wahrmund.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:00 P. M., on Monday, November 29, 2004, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville,  Texas.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 A. M., Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Harper,  Texas. Pallbearers are David Wahrmund, Kenneth Jenschke, Allan Wahrmund, Dennis Wahrmund, Vernon Wahrmund and Melvin Glen Conner.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Dana Rae Lovejoy

Margaret Ann Lowe
Born in Denver, CO on February 28, 1911

Margaret Ann Lowe, 93, of 415 Lake Drive, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at a local private care facility. She will be remembered at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at 6 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 112 Wren Road, at the corner of Goat Creek Road.

Margaret was born on Feb. 28, 1911, in Denver, Colorado, to Violet Margaret Bauer and Walter Riley Bauer. Later, her birth mother experienced severe illness, and afterward, Margaret was placed for adoption and given the last name of her adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Waters, of Stillwater,  Oklahoma. She was married on June 29, 1929, to James Lowe, of Arkansas City, Kansas.

Margaret is survived in death by two granddaughters, Cyndy Rhoads, of Tomball,  Texas, and Celeste Veno, of Ashburn, Virginia. She also had four great-grandchildren, Jamie Serwinek, Amy Wallace, Megan Rhoads and Dusty Rhoads, as well as one great-great-granddaughter, Leila Wallace. Margaret’s husband James Lowe, and her only child, Charlotte Elaine Hoback, preceded her in death.

On May 20, 1923, Margaret was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and remained firmly dedicated to her beliefs throughout her lifetime. In 1971, she moved to Kerrville, where for more than 30 years she attended the Kerrville East Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There, she benefited from the concern and attention of many friends who lovingly cared for her during her difficult last years.

Billy Jack Lowery
Born in Marietta, GA on June 9, 1939
Departed on December 14, 2003, and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Billy Jack Lowery, age 64 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born June 9, 1939 in Marietta, GA to J.V. Lowery and Florene Estelle Pittman. On December 30, 1960, he married Letitia Sue Coonrod in Temple, TX.

Billy was a small business operator and member of the Kerrville JayCee’s, a 36 year member of the Kerrville Elks Lodge #2081, Sunrise Lions Club and was a Boy Scout Leader.

He is survived by his mother, Florene Harden of Kerrville; two daughters, Margaret Green of Ingram and Julie Darby of Austin; two sons, Phillip Lowery, Sr. of Kerrville and Daniel Lowery of Kerrville; two sisters; three brothers, Jim Lowery of Louisville, KY, Anthony Harden of Kerrville and Randal Harden of Mt. Airy, NC; five grandchildren, Phillip Lowery, Jr., Austin Lowery, Candace Lowery, Tish Miller and Gracie Green; and two great grandchildren, Logan Dinsmore and Phoenix Miller.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.V. Lowery; wife, Sue Lowery; and a brother, John Lowery.

Services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2003, 1:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Frankie Enloe and under the auspices of BPOE #2081, Kerrville Elks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer, San Antonio Chapter.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Anson J. Magill
Born in Burnet, TX on December 23, 1929

Mr. Anson J. Magill, age 73 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born in Burnet,  Texas on December 23, 1929 to William Mason Magill and Winnie Irene Hahn Magill.

Anson was a ranching foreman and belonged to the American Legion.

Survivors include one sister, Ginger Magill Harrell of Langtry,  Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Magill will lie in state at Grimes Funeral Chapel, Thursday, May 15, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the V.A. Chapel in Kerrville with Roy Joe Hamm officiating.

Graveside services will be Friday, May 16, 2003, 4:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Sanderson,  Texas with Roy Joe Hamm officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the V.A. Voluntary Service, South  Texas Veterans Health Care System-Kerrville Division, 3600 Memorial Blvd, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Peter Joseph Maguire
Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 24, 1925

Mr. Peter Joseph Maguire, age 78 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, June 30, 2003 at a local care center. No services will be held. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Bettie Manifold
Born in Omaha, NE on October 14, 1923
Departed on February 5, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Service Location: Zion Lutheran Church

Bettie Jean (Meisinger) Manifold passed away after a brief illness on Feb. 5, 2004 at a Kerrville hospital at the age of 80. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born on October 14, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska to Sophie and Robert Meisinger. She married Kenneth M. Manifold of Coin, Iowa on December 7, 1941 (Pearl Harbor Day.) They were blessed with one daughter, Leslie Jane.
Mrs. Manifold's husband became a career Army officer and she loved her role of military wife. She made many friends in each new place they called home. They were stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, Ft. Lewis,  Washington, Monterrey, California, Ft. Riley, Kansas, Camp Stoneman, California, Ft. Benning, Georgia, Tokyo, Japan, and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. After leaving the Army in 1963, she and her husband moved to Griffith, Indiana where they lived for 16 years. In 1979, Lt. Col. (Ret.) and Mrs. Manifold retired to Kerrville.

Mrs. Manifold was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville. She volunteered for Kerrville's Convention and Visitor's Bureau for 13 years. She was a member of the military Officers Association of America and the Air Force Association. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Sophie Meisinger, her husband of 52 years, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Kenneth M. Manifold, and her son in law, Major Richard B. Walker. She is survived by her daughter Leslie Manifold Walker, two grandchildren Richelle (Shelley) Walker and Eric Walker, and one great grandchild, Adara Richelle Walker.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 9, 2004, 4:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor David Chancellor.

A private family graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful people who assisted in Mrs. Manifold's care. We will be forever grateful for the support, wisdom, and guidance of Dr. Chris Williams, Dr. Linette Melcher, Dr. Matthew Gibbs, Dr. Ralph Fritzsch, Dr. Doug Wright and the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Team. We also deeply appreciate the nursing staff at both Ameripark Care Center and Sid Peterson Hospital who treated her with love and respect.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 8111 N. Stadium Dr. Suite 100, Houston, TX 77054 or The Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society, 2900 Junction Hwy, Kerrville TX 78028.
