Terry David Sharp

Services for Terry David Sharp, 51, of Mabank, were 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank, with Rev. George Yarger officating.

Interment followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mr. Sharp died Oct. 5, 2000, in Tyler.

He was born April 9, 1949, in Dallas, to Charles and Mary (Williams) Sharp. Previously of Dallas, Mr. Sharp had lived in Mabank for five years and was Baptist by faith.

Survivors include; wife, Nancy Sharp of Mabank; son, Gary Sharp of Dallas; father, Charles Sharp of Hanesville; brother, Dan Sharp of Hanesville; sisters, Nancy McCasland of Hanesville and Becky Hamilton of Mesquite; step-sons, Thomas Olsen of North Dakota, Gerald Olsen and Gene Olsen, both of Mabank; step-daughter, Misty Patterson of Lake Worth; other family members and a host of friends.

Luther "Noonie' Harper

Services for Luther "Noonie" Harper, 82, of Kemp, were held Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, in Kemp, with Rev. James Hughes and Rev. James Renfro officiating.

Interment was in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Mr. Harper died Oct. 8, 2000, in Kaufman.

Luther J. Harper was born April 4, 1918, in Porum, Okla., to Luther and Polly (Davis) Harper. He married Edna Ruth Hawkins in Claremore, Okla., on March 22, 1963. He was a member of the Tolosa Baptist Church and the International Order of Oddfellows. Mr. Harper served in the 45th Infantry Division during World War II and was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation tribe. Mr. Harper was preceded in death by sons Cleyon Harper and Larry Dodson; brothers, Clarence Harper, Wadie Harper, Jack Harper and Sequoia Harper; sisters, Reva Swinford and Lahoma Harper.

Survivors include; wife, Edna Ruth Harper of Kemp; sons, Roger Dale Harper and wife, Pat of Farmersville, Marion Lee Harper and wife, Evon of Farmersville, Ronnie Joe Harper and wife, Candy of The Colony and James David Dodson and wife, Cheryl of Kemp; grandchildren, Jason Lee Harper and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Farrell Vaine Harper of Wichita Falls; sisters, Alyene Stout and Wynona Grigsby, both of Tulsa, Okla.

Pallbearers were Danny Salik, Marvin Horton, Sonny Skrivanek, Jr., Adolf Zaidle, Michael Zaidle and Gary Skrivanek.

Justin Cody Dean

Services for Justin Cody Dean, 26, of Kaufman, were 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 9, at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel, with Mike Kellett and Rev. D. G. Council officiating.

Interment followed at the Wilson Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home, Kaufman.

Mr. Dean died Oct. 7, 2000, in Kaufman.

He was born Nov. 5, 1973, in Dallas. Mr. Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents, J. B. and Ruth Dean and Wilmer and Thelma Williams of Kaufman and his special Pappy and Mimmie, Roy and Berge Rand of Kaufman.

Survivors include; parents, John and Suella Dean of Kaufman and the love of his life, Tanya Smith Dean of Phoenix, Ariz.; the families of George Williams, Roy Don Rand and Linda Wood of Kaufman; families of Jerry Hunt of DeSoto and W. R. Platt of Combine; other family members and a host of friends.

Douglas Ray

A memorial service for Douglas Ray will be held 1 p.m. April 28, at the Payne Springs United Methodist Church, in Payne Springs, on Hwy. 198, across from the fire station. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall. All family and friends are invited to attend. Mr. Ray previously lived in Spillview Estates before moving to Hobbs, N. M. He passed away in New Mexico on Jan. 11. It is his parents', Burl and Dorothy Ray, desire to have a local memorial service. Cremation took place in New Mexico.

Survivors include his parents; daughter, Kala Adams of Lafayette, La.; brothers, Bill Ray of Arlington, Dick Ray of Gun Barrel City, and Bob Ray of Bedford; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a host of friends.

Cloye Faye Chamberlain

Services for Cloye Faye Chamberlain, of Seagoville, were 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Hatcher officiating.

Interment followed at King Cemetery, under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home, Kaufman.

Mrs. Chamberlain died April 15, 2001, in Mesquite.

She was born May 7, 1939, in the Styx Community to Charles and Glenna Matthews Ford.

Mrs. Chamberlain was raised in the Styx and Scurry communities and had lived in Seagoville for the past 29 years. On Aug. 2, 1957 she married Doyle Chamberlain.

Survivors include husband, Doyle Chamberlain of Seagoville; sons, Wayne Chamberlain of Dallas and Ray Chamberlain of Kemp; daughters, Theresa Kennon of Scurry and Cheryl Williams of Kaufman; brothers, Don Ford of Arkansas, Bill Ford of Wills Point and Royse Ford of Kemp; 13, grandchildren; three, great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.

Joseph R. Butler

Graveside services for Joseph R. Butler, 80, of Mabank, were noon, April 17, at Oaklawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Tim Shaw officiating.

Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Mabank.

Mr. Butler died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Hospice Home Place, in Tyler.

He was born July 7, 1920, in Corsicana. Mr. Butler was a carpenter.

Survivors include wife, Bertha P. Butler of Mabank; daughters, Belinda Autry of Bourne and Beverly Paschal of Lewisville; sons, Mickie Butler of Red Oak and Ron Butler of Corsicana; brother, Cecil Butler of Portland, Ore.; sister, Charlotte Fisher of Paso Robles,  Calif.; three, stepchildren; 10, grandchildren; two, great-grandchildren.

Lynn Neighbors

Services for Lynn Neighbors, 41, of Dallas, were 3 p.m. April 17, in Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Don Bell and the Rev. Terry  Johnson officiating.

Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Mabank.

Mrs. Neighbors died Saturday, April 14, 2001, in Payne Springs.

She was born Dec. 8, 1959, in Dallas. Mrs. Neighbors loved her family. She was very caring and loving, a second mother to her niece and nephew. She loved her pets.

Survivors include husband, Dennis Neighbors of Dallas; father and mother, Manice and Doris Shelton of Eustace; brother, John Combs of Eustace; sisters, Vicki Perkins of Dallas, Shelia Clark of Eustace and Carolyn Belcher of McMinnville Tenn.; sister-in-law, Kim Flanery of Mabank; brother-in-law, Larry Neighbors of Scurry; mother-in-law, Pelba Neighbors of Mabank; eight, nephews; four, nieces; three, great-nieces; and two, great-nephews.

Pallbearers were Aaron Jones, Brad Lay, Jason Neighbors, Nathan Neighbors, Danny Perkins, James Prince and Kelly Parker.

Hazel Storey Johnson

Services for Hazel Storey Johnson, 88, of Kemp, were April 17, at Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating.

Interment followed at Baker Cemetery in Kaufman County, under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs.  Johnson died April 15, 2001, in Kemp.

She was born April 23, 1912, in Lawton, Okla., to John Arthur and Bertha (Cunningham) Storey.

Mrs. Johnson's husband, Louis Johnson, preceded her in death in 1985.

Survivors include; four, nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Essie Mae Hollis

Graveside services for Essie Mae Hollis, 84, of Mabank, were 10 a.m. April 18, at Payne Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating.

Interment followed in Payne Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hollis died April 16, 2001, in Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman.

She was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Henderson County. Mrs. Hollis was employed as a waitress and was a member of the Lady's Auxiliary Rebeckah Lodge.

Survivors include; daughter, Shirley Boles of Gun Barrel City; sister, Floy Jo Key, of Kaufman; brothers, James Bowden of Styx and Robert Bowden of Mabank; two, grandchildren; and one, great-grandchild.

Hurshal Henry Gee

Graveside services for Hurshal Henry Gee of DeSoto, formerly of Gun Barrel City, were 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the Aley-King Cemetery.

Interment followed at Aley-King Cemetery, under the direction of West/Hurtt Funeral Home of DeSoto.

Mr. Gee died April 16, 2001, in Dallas.

Survivors include; wife, Joyce Elaine Gee; son, Darrell Wayne Gee, Master Sergeant, U.S. Army (retired); daughters, Joyce Arlene Potter, Rainelle McDonald and Terri Heimer; nine, grandchildren; 16, great-grandchildren; two, great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James Gee, Howard Gee, Noel Gee and Donald Gee.

Bill E. Davis

Services for Bill E. Davis, 61, of the Lake Dallas area were 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.

Interment followed at Ware Cemetery in Kaufman County.

Mr. Davis died June 29, 2001, at Medical Center of Lewisville.

He was born Billy Edge Davis, in Goshen, Ala., on Sept. 11, 1939, to J. P. and Inez (Cargile) Davis. Mr. Davis married Margie Lee Payne in Dallas on July 11, 1958. His father, J. P. Davis and a brother, Joe Bob Davis, preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife, Margie Davis of Hickory Creek; sons, Cary Davis of Panama City Beach, Fla., Andy and wife, Lilly Davis of Allen, James and wife, Lisa Davis of Denton and Fred and wife, MariAlice Davis of Sachse; grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, Destiny, Dean, Alexander; brother, Charles Davis of Troy, Ala.; sisters, Mary Ann  Jones of Troy, Ala., and Martha Jane Dykes of Banks, Ala.; a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers were Andy Davis, James Davis, Cary Davis, Fred Davis, Charlie Payne, Michale "Doc" Davis, Robbie Ottwell and Kyle Payne.

J. Harold Saunders

Services for J. Harold Saunders, 79, of Gun Barrel City, were 3 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2001 at Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Glen Blackmon officiating.

Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mr. Saunders died Thursday, June 28, 2001, in Dallas.

He was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Dallas. Mr. Saunders was employed as a mechanic and served his country with the Army Air Corps., in World War II. Mr. Saunders loved to dance and was a member of the 49ers Club of Cedar Creek Lake. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors included daughters, Vicki L. Edgar of Allen, Peggy Furushima of Gun Barrel City, and Konitta Jo Pohrte of Rowlett; brother, Lloyd Saunders of Ada, Okla; John Wallace and other beloved nephews; other family members and many friends.

Margaret Cole

Graveside services for Margaret Cole, 94, of Garland, were 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Van Zandt County, near Canton.

Interment followed under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home, Kemp. The Rev. Dorothy Fowler officiated.

Mrs. Cole died June 27, 2001, at the Mabank Nursing Home in Mabank.

She was born Ollie Margaret Miller on May 18, 1907, in Ben Wheeler, to William Aaron and Nancy Lucinda (Chancy) Miller. She was married to Arthur J. Cole on Dec. 24, 1926. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1960. Also preceding her was a daughter, Margie Neil Largely, in 1989; son-in-law, Joe F. Mulkey, in 1980; great-grandson, John Paul Adams, in 1993; son-in-law, Lonnie E. Morphis in 2000; two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include daughter, Barbara Jean Morphis of Gun Barrel City; daughter and son-in-law, Flonnie Mulkey-Fuller and Travis H. Fuller of Garland; son-in-law, Louis B. Langley and wife, Pat of Garland; grandchildren, Jeannine Mulkey-Mason of Garland, Michelle Langley Stewart of Frisco, Vikki Morphis Mankins of Broken Arrow, Okla., Wyatt Morphis of Midlothian; eight, great-grandchildren; one, great-great-grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Preston J. and Marie Miller of Baltimore, Md.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Jean Bowden

Services for Jean Bowden, 70, of Seven Points, were 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment followed at Tool Cemetery, with Dr. Rocky Weatherford officiating and the Rev. Hamp Manning assisting, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points.

Ms. Bowden died July 1, 2001, in Mabank.

She was born July 24, 1930, in Lubbock, the daughter of George and Geneva Pierce. Ms. Bowden was a lifelong resident of the lake area and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tool. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Randy and Timmy Bowden; sibling, Orene Brown.

Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Van Arsdall of Seven Points; sisters, Morene Pace of DeSoto and Kate Venable of Tool; grandchildren, Brad and Lacy Van Arsdall of Seven Points and Cody and Rachelle Bowden of Eustace.

Alpharetta Adams

Services for Alpharetta Adams, 89, of Gun Barrel City, were 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Don Bell officiating.

Interment followed in Forney Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mrs. Adams died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in Kaufman.

She was born Aug. 14, 1911, in Dallas. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, J. C. Kent.

Survivors include sisters, Vera Lou Adams of Grand Saline and Myron Jean Martin of Dallas; brothers, Kenneth Kent of Quinlan, Lloyd Kent of Leesburg, and Rayburn Kent of Quinlan; aunt, Velma Sheppard of Italy; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other family members and a host of friends.
