Jewell Mogia Frost Allen

Services for Jewell Mogia Frost Allen, 82, of Kemp, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home in Kemp.

Interment will follow at the Trees Cemetery in Duncanville.

Mrs. Allen died July 24, 2001, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Longview. Mrs. Allen was a 30 year resident of Kemp and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank B. Allen Jr., in March, 2001. Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Tom Wilson Frost and Fannie Eva Frost and was raised in  Louisiana for the first 12 years of her life. When her mother passed away during the Great Depression, Jewell and her siblings were sent to live with relatives in various parts of the United States. She came to East  Texas to live with an uncle and went through high school in Tyler. She worked for Chance-Vought in Grand Prairie, helping to build airplanes for World War II. She then worked at  Texas Instruments until her retirement.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Sandra Allen of Pottsboro and Kirk and T.J. Allen of Moody; grandchildren, Zachary and Kimberly Allen of Pottsboro, Nicolas Allen of Austin, Christopher Allen of California, Tania Allen, Vanessa Weisinger and Maria Dyer all of Kemp, and Kevin Allen of Moody; eight, great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.

Travis (Buck) Summers

Services for Travis (Buck) Summers, 85, of Corsicana, were 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Rocky Weatherford officiating.

Interment followed in Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery, under the direction of Corley Funeral Home, Corsicana.

Mr. Summers died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in Corsicana.

He was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Rice. Mr. Summers was employed as a building engineer and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tool, where he served as a deacon. He retired from the American National Bank in Amarillo and moved to Tool.

Survivors include wife of 62 years, Ruby Lorene Summers of Corsicana; daughters and sons-in-law, Reba and Richard Archer of Grand Prairie, and Barbara and Jack French of Weatherford; sister, Cassie Ingham of Dallas; grandsons, Clint Archer of Arlington, Zane Archer of Grand Prairie, Jamie French of Arlington, Jerry French of Burleson, and Russell French of Loraine; granddaughter, Karen Galloway of Fort Worth; numerous, great-grandchildren; one, great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were Jim Creech, John McClintock, Hollis Scrimshire, Jim Scrimshire, Gene Sullivan, and W. O. Venable.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tool, 1001 N. Tool Dr., Tool,  Texas 75143 or, M. D. Anderson Cancer Unite Houston,  Texas 77009.

Elsie Huddleston

Services for Elsie Huddleston, 91, of Eustace, were 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, in Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Gilbert Davis officiating.

Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mrs. Huddleston died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in Balch Springs.

She was born July 12, 1910, in Henderson County. Mrs. Huddleston was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Huddleston, in 1961.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Anna Huddleston of Mesquite; sisters, Jimmie Bonsal of Eustace and Alice Cox of Mabank; granddaughter, Cathy  Johnson and husband, Bob of Mesquite; grandson, Kyle Huddleston and wife, Carolyn of Cumby; great-granddaughters, Kasidy Huddleston of Cumby, Kathy Huddleston of Cumby, and Kelly  Johnson of Mesquite;

Charline Steele

Services for Charline Steele, 66, of Mabank, were 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating.

Interment followed in Greenleaf Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Ms. Steele died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, in Athens.

She was born May 19, 1935, in Brownwood. Ms. Steele was employed as a retail baker.

Survivors include son, Burl Barton of Mabank; daughters, Linda Fehmel of Lancaster, Margaret Huckaby of Vernon, Elizabeth Merrifield of Indiana, and Helen Myers of Alvarado; sister, Francis Collier of Brownwood; brother, Wayne Ford of Carrollton; 11, grandchildren; two, great-grandchildren; four, nieces; four, nephews; other family members and many friends.

Leon Vern Marlin, Sr.

A memorial service for Leon Vern Marlin, Sr, 82, will be given at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kemp, officiated by Terry Potter.

Mr. Marlin was born Aug. 1, 1918 in McBrides, Mich. to David and Cora Marlin.

He fell asleep in death on July 20, 2001. He was the last of nine brothers and sisters, one being a twin sister.

A resident of Greenville, Mich., for most of his life, he retired after 42 years from Frigidaire Company in 1980 and eventually settled in Mabank. Leon was cherished by his wife, Vesta, of 62 years, and six children, Larry and Gina Marlin of Nashville, Mich., Linda and William Barrett of McBrides, Mich., and Leon and Carla Marlin of Mabank; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Leon was associated with the Kemp Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, being a minister of Jehovah's Witnesses for 53 years.

He lived his life with dignity and respect. His spiritual legacy has enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Donnel L. Brock

Funeral Services for Donnel L. "Don" Brock, 84, of Mabank, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28, in the Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with the Rev. Royce Barker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Terrell.

Mr. Brock died July 25, 2001, in Athens. He was born Aug. 18, 1916 in Williams County,  Texas to the late Edgar and Allie (Scott) Brock.

His family moved to Terrell when he was 11 months old and he was educated in Terrell schools. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from 1935 - 1939. He was married to the former Mary Eugenia Phillips in 1939. They lived in Terrell until 1968. He moved to Denton in 1968 and he and his son had Brock's Jewelers until 1979. He moved to Cedar Creek Lake area in 1979 and assisted his son at Brock's Jewelers in Mabank. He was well known for his jewelry and watch making and clock restoration.

Mr. Brock was a member of the First Christian Church in Terrell.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brock of Mabank; children, Donna Reed and her husband, Pat of Canton, Jennie Turner of Grand Saline, David Brock and his wife, JoAnna of Quinlan, and Charlie and his wife, Janice of Mabank; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nephew, James Jeffus and his wife, Dee and their son Jason of Flower Mound; and nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Pattie Ruth Holloway

Memorial services for Patti Ruth Holloway, 71, of Mabank were 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Kerens Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Lynn officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Eubanks Funeral Home & Memorial Park of Mabank.

Mrs. Holloway died July 21, 2001, in Mabank.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Sammy Bagget of Payne Springs; sister, Marcelle Over, of Lampasses; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Clovis Earl Ross

Services for Clovis Earl Ross, 88, of Gun Barrel City were held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Central Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley and the Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiating. Interment followed in the Hamilton Cemetery in Navarro County under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mr. Ross was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Bloomingrove to John Thomas and Lillian (Lloyd) Ross and passed away Dec. 18, 2001, in Tyler. Mr. Ross was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in World War II. He is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Minnie Sue Ross of Gun Barrel City; daughters, Joy Beale and husband, Resse of Corsicana; Charlotte Harmon and husband, Keith of Tyler; Pam Lambert and husband, Dewey of Broken Arrow, Okla.; son, Don Bryant and wife, Joyce of Mead, Okla.; three grandsons; five granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Family received friends Thursday, Dec. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Myrtle Lee McDonald

Services for Myrtle Lee McDonald, 86, of Gun Barrel City were held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, of Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Michael Adalian. Interment followed at Hooker Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mrs. McDonald died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Garland. She was born June 22, 1915, in Lone Oak,  Texas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Damon McDonald of Garland, Hubert McDonald of Dallas, Joe McDonald of LaComb, La., Russell McDonald of Dallas; daughter, Betty Tindell of Gun Barrel City; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kelly Blakenship, Abe McDonald, Gene McDonald, Roger McDonald, Charles Platt, and Don Tindell.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 20, 2001, at the funeral home.

Bain Addkison

Services for Bain Addkison, 91, of Athens were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Carnes officiating. Interment followed at Allen Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mr. Addkison died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, in Athens. He was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Brownsboro. Mr. Addkison was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a cook. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include wife, Ruby Addkison of Athens; daughter, Lillian McCurdy of Hot Springs, Ark.; step-sons, Billy Robinett, Harold Robinett, and Wilbur Robinett; brother, O'Conyal Addkison of Ennis; sister, Ruby Sparks of Victoria,  Texas; grandchildren, Milton Atkison and Valera McDougall; step-daughter, Wanda Wilson; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; five step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gaylen Addkison, Michael Addkison, Wayne Addkison, Grant Atkison, Milton Atkison, and Richard Swain.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at the funeral home.

Jackie W. Shue

Graveside services for Jackie W. Shue, 52, of Malakoff were held 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Post Oak Cemetery with Bro. Ron Huckabee officiating and under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.

Mr. Shue died Dec. 23, 2001, in Athens. He was born July 31, 1949, in Athens to the late James Monroe and Mary Velvie Cantrell Shue. He hived in this area all his life and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Mr. Shue was self-employed as a landscaper and married Kathleen M. Harrington on Nov. 1, 1967, in Dallas.

Survivors include wife, Kathleen M. Shue of Malakoff; children, Jody W. Shue of Malakoff, daughter-in-law, Kelly M. Shue of Malakoff, and Frank Puga of Malakoff; sisters, June F. Stickle of Tennessee and LaWana Dale  Taylor of Corsicana; brother, Larry Jimmy Shue of Corsicana; grandchildren, Christopher A. Davis, Gabriel Monroe and Meagen N. Shue, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at the funeral home.

Sammy Charles

"Sam' Pollock

Services for Sammy Charles "Sam" Pollock, 70, of Gun Barrel City were held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with Dr. James Harms officiating. Interment followed at Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mr. Pollock died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, in Gun Barrel City. He was born July 10, 1931, in Mabank to the late Ottice Dewey Pollock and Mable Estelle Pollock. Mr. Pollock was a supervisor for General Motors and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include wife, Linda Pollock of Gun Barrel City; daughters, Sami Amosson of Pearland, Lori Reeves of Keller, and Paula Stagner of Mesquite; son, Larry Pollock of Grand Prairie; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Larry D. Pollock, Jerry Pollock, Dennis Pollock, Wesley Baker, Greg Groom, and Lee Taylor.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vera Lorene Gann

Services for Vera Lorene Gann, 79, of Kaufman were held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Loftis officiating. Interment followed at Wilson Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mrs. Gann died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, in Kaufman. She was born in September 1922 to the late Ben Davis and Josie Davis. Mrs. Gann was a homemaker. Previously of Dallas, she had lived in Kaufman for 23 years.

Survivors include husband, Frank Gann of Kaufman; son, Richard Gann of Red Oak; daughter, Darlene Jasper of Kaufman; granddaughters, April Gann of Red Oak, Page Sperlock of Kaufman, Gloria Moseley of Kaufman, and Brandi Hypock of Kaufman; four great-granchildren.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home.

Cassie Leo Bowling

Cassie Leo Bowling, 86, died on Dec. 20, 2001, in Houston. She was born to the late Cerce and Ruby Robertson Greenhaw on Jan. 27, 1915, in Henderson County. She was a retired self-employed seamstress. She married the late Jim Bowling in September 1924. She was a resident of Houston for the past 60 years. She was formerly from the lake area. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Bowling was a member of the Blanchard Baptist Church in Livingston,  Texas.

Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001. Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points with the Rev. Royce Pennington officiating. Michael, Matthew, and Joseph Oliver, B.J. Clifton, Bobby Rhodes, Vinson Sealy, Daniel Lee, Cullen Houck and Brett Bankston served as pallbearers. Interment followed at King Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Judy Sealy, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Joann Tindo of Livingston, Glenda and Clifford Burleson of Houston, Pam and Joe Oliver of Houston, Vernon Sealy of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmie and Madean Greenhaw of Angleton,  Texas, L.D. and Lucille Greenhaw of Houston, Pat Greenhaw of Livingstong, Joyce Greenhaw of Houston, Marshall Lee and Billie  Whitehead of Mesquite; sister, Allie Faye Barker of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Gerald D. Heiman

Gerald D. Heiman, 69, died in Athens on Dec. 21, 2001. He was born to the late Reinhold and Gladys Nelson Heiman on June 26, 1932, in Elbin, Ill. Mr. Heiman married Sharon Ann Carter on Aug. 5, 25 years ago in Illinois. He retired in 1984. He was the owner and operator of McHenry County Office Machines Company in Crystal Lake, Ill. He was also the city clerk there for 24 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. The Heimans moved to Gun Barrel City 4.5 years ago from Las Vegas, and were formerly from Crystal Lake, Ill. Mr. Heiman was active in several clubs and organizations in Crystal Lake. He was a member of the Aley United Methodist Church, where he was very active. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Memorial services were held Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at 7:30 p.m. at the Aley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eston Williams officiating.

Survivors include wife of 25 years, Sharon Ann Heiman of Gun Barrel City; children, Phillip Heiman of Navato,  Calif., Ann Sulivan of Batavia, Ill., John Heiman of Crystal Lake, Ill., Nancy Collins of Genowa, Ill., Neil Swanson of St. Claire Shores, Mich., and Ken Swanson of St. Claire Shores, Mich.; 12 grandchildren.

In leui of flowers, memorials may be made to Aley United Methodist Church at 1215 W. Cedar Creek Parkway, Seven Points, TX 75143.

Susan Carolyn Broussard

Services for Susan Carolyn Broussard, 73, of Kemp were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church of Mabank with Dr. Ron Holloman officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, La., under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mrs. Broussard died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, in Kaufman. She was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Downsville, La. Previously of Port Arther, she had lived in Kemp for 10 years. Mrs. Broussard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mabank and was an avid bridge player, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. She was an Orthodontics technician.

Survivors include daughters, Carol Anne Loar of Kemp, Sharon Sue Rainwater; grandchildren, Michelle Suzanne Barker, Natalie Anne Johnson, Cheryl Anne Loar, Robby Loar; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Drew Barker; brother-in-law, Warren Broussard; sons-in-law, John Loar and Richard Rainwater; grandsons-in-law, Brian Barker and Adam Johnson.

Visitation was from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at the funeral home.
