R.L. ÒBOBÓ MILLER

Memorial services for R.L. ÒBOBÓ MILLER SR., 64, of Mabank, were held April 15 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mabank with Dr. Ron Hollomon officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers were Cody Cunningham, Terry Ramsey, Charles Moore, Bruce Easley, Ralph Turner, Charles Assevero, L.D. Evans, Vance Wood, Joe Decho, Earl Isbell, Darlo Protti and Jim Pampenella.

Mr. Miller was born Aug. 14, 1942 in Chicago, Ill. and passed away April 12, 2007 in Tyler. Previously of Chicago, he had lived in Mabank for the past 13 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Miller retired as a manufactures representative at Heick Die Casting after more than 20 years and worked as a Realtor with Evans Century 21 for the past five years. He was a member of Break the Chain of Domestic Violence, the Cedar Creek Lake Rotary Club, National Realtors Association and was past treasurer of the Henderson County YMCA.

He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Miller. He is survived by his wife, Judy Junell of Mabank; his mother, Lorraine Miller of Bradenton, Fla.; three sons, Robert L. Miller and wife Denise Dannielle of Mabank, Carl Anthony Miller of Winter Park, Fla. and Mark Junell and wife Sarah of Churchroad, Va.; two daughters, Theresa Tammy Miller of Aurora, Ill. and Amy Junell of Churchroad, Va.; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and associates around the world.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8900 W. C arpenter Fwy., Dallas, TX 75247 or the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1977, Mabank TX 75147.

JULIA KEIGHTLEY TOWNSEND

JULIA KEIGHTLEY TOWNSEND, ÒJULIA DELLE,Ó passed away April 17, 2007 after enduring a lengthy illness.

Julia Delle, the second of five children, was born Aug. 8, 1919 in Parkin, Ark. to Roger and Lula Stevenson. She attended Scarritt College in Tennessee where she received her BA degree. She married the Rev. Dr. Carl E. Keightley on Dec. 12, 1942. Following his death in 1988 she married longtime family friend Rev. Robert L. Townsend in 1992.

To her family and friends, Julia Delle was known as a supportive wife, a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and a great support system to all of her church families. Her passions in life were truly centered around the fine arts, focusing on painting, sculpting and playing her violin. Her memory will live on forever through her many paintings and pieces of pottery scattered among numerous family and friends.

Julia Delle was preceded in death by both husbands. She is survived by her two daughters, Anne Moskow of Minneapolis, Minn. and Cheryl Nekuza of Mabank, and five granddaughters in Minnesota and  Texas.

Services were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

W.L. ÒREDÓ SMITH

Services for W.L. ÒREDÓ SMITH, 78, of Eustace, were held April 20 at Grace Fellowship Outreach Church in Eustace with Rev. John Smith officiating. Interment followed at the Payne Cemetery in Payne Springs under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 15, 1928 in Sherwood, Tenn. and passed away April 17, 2007 in Athens. He was a brick contractor, had lived in Eustace since 1970 and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Eustace.

He is survived by his wife, Flora Smith of Eustace; four sons, James Melvin Smith and wife Deborah of Eustace, Kenneth Ray Smith of Shreveport, La.; William Edward Smith and wife Sheila of Athens and John Rufus Smith and wife Patty of Eustace; a daughter, Angie Marie Horn and husband Bud of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, two brothers, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

BILLIE JUNE VAN BLARICUM

An Open House in memory of BILLIE JUNE VAN BLARICUM, 76, of Tool, will be held at her home from 1 until 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28.

Mrs. Blaricumwas born Nov. 16, 1930 in Cooper and passed away April 23, 2007 in Athens. She was a homemaker. She had lived in Tool since 1965 and was a very happy resident of the Cedar Creek Lake area. She was a very kind, generous and compassionate person.

She is survived by a sister, Bobbie Ruth Baker of Frisco; two brothers, Leonard Starks of Humble and Robert Wayne Starks of Killeen; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Arrangements were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

MR. WELDON W. NASH SR

MR. WELDON W. NASH SR., 94, passed away April 29, 2007 after a brief illness. He was born in Calvert on Dec. 19, 1912.

Services were held May 2 at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport, La. with Dr. Bill Rawlins of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of  Jefferson,  Texas officiating. Interment followed May 3 at Royse City Cemetery.

Mr. Nash was a native of Calvert and a resident of Dallas and Mabank. He was a 1939 graduate of Baylor University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Nash was a printer and typesetter, employed for 30 years at Southwest Typo Graphics in Dallas, being a part owner when he retired in 1977. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Urbandale, Dallas.

Mr. Nash is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florene Fling Nash of Shreveport, La.; two sons, Weldon Nash Jr. and wife Mary of Dallas and Ronald Nash and wife Joyce of Magnolia, Ark.; two grandchildren, Trey Nash and Chris Nash, both of Dallas; one sister, Gladys Bush of Houston; one brother, Duane Nash of Lubbock and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.

JOSEPH CANIBANO

Memorial services for JOSEPH CANIBANO, 57, of Trinidad, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 11 in Dallas at the Dallas Police Association, 1412 Griffin in downtown Dallas.

Joseph was born in Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 18, 1949 and passed away April 29, 2007 in Chicago. He retired from the Dallas Police Dept. in 2003 afte 33 years of service. He was currently employed by the Department of Justice as a program manager.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Canibano and a grandson, Nathaniel Six.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his mother, Delores Canibano; two sons, Curtis Michael Canibano and Jesse Mancha; daughter, Deborah Ann Canibano; two brothers, Johnny and Billy Canibano; two sisters, Patti Wilken and Linda Carmichael and seven grandchildren, Joseph Michael Canibano, Patrick Canibano, Christian Six, Morgan Hammond, Xzavier Mancha, Kevin Mancha and John Mancha.

BENNIE MAE AULDRIDGE

Services were held May 2 for BENNIE MAE AULDRIDGE, 65, of Kemp, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp with Mr. R.J. Stevens officiating. Interment followed in the King Cemetery near Kemp in the Aley Community under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.

Born Bennie Mae Hooten Feb. 21, 1942 in Cooper, she was the daughter of James Otis and Edith Etaw (Roland) Hooten. She died April 28, 2007 in Irving. She married Archie Auldridge in Cooper on Oct. 16, 1959. They lived in Kaufman County since 1982. She worked in the Mesquite schools for 10 years and she was Church of Christ by faith.

Her parents, James and Edith Hooten and a brother, Shelby Hooten, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of more than 47 years, Archie Auldridge of Kemp; son, Ricky Auldridge of Mesquite; daughter, Tammie Rhoades and husband Phil of Garland; five grandchildren, Johnathan Myers, Jeffery Myers, Jimmy Auldridge, Matthew Auldridge and Miccah Auldridge; brother, James Alvin Hooten of Commerce; sister, Elma Lois Boyd and husband James of Charleston and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Ricky Auldridge, Johnathan Myers, Jeffery Myers, Jimmy Auldridge, James Hooten, Phil Rhoades, Matthew Auldridge and Miccah Auldridge.

LINDA D. WEAVER

LINDA D. WEAVER, 58, of Trinidad, died May 1 in Dallas. She was born April 6, 1949 in Dallas, the daughter of the late Frank H. and Opal Speake. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Services were held May 6 at Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points with Bro. Ned Mullins officiating, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points. Interment followed in the Mankin Cemetery at Trinidad.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Opal Speake. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Weaver of Trinidad; two sons, Randall Weaver and wife Donya and Dennis Weaver and wife Jane, all of Trinidad; a sister, Nadine Wood of Dallas; two grandsons, Justin Weaver and Patrick Weaver; four granddaughters, Ashlee Weaver, Brandalyn Weaver, Tiffney Weaver and Brittney Weaver.

BILLIE JO THORNTON

BILLIE JO THORNTON, 80, of Kemp, died May 2 in Kemp. Graveside services were held May 4 at the King Cemetery with Jerry Mullins officiating, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points.

She was born April 19, 1927 in Aley, the daughter of the late Warren and Jodie Greenhaw Colvin. She was raised in the Flag Lake and Aley communities with her 12 siblings. She moved from the area for a period of 24 years, returning later with her husband and children to live out her life in the area. Billie was a dedicated worker in the surrounding areas, and worked as an aide for the Kemp school district until overcome by cancer.

Surviving are a son, Wesley Hendrix and wife Jan of Alba; a daughter, April Pass and husband Joe of Kemp; three brothers, Dewain Colvin of Haltom City, Harold Colvin and wife Nadine of Trinidad and Richard Colvin and wife Rosalie, also of Trinidad; three sisters, Nelda Hendrix of Forney, Rachel Voight and husband Leroy of Garland and Gail Brown and husband Cecil of Kemp; a grandson, Clayton Pass of Kemp and a granddaughter, Sarah Pass of Kemp. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Jodie Colvin; her husband, James Thornton; three sisters and three brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kemp Elementary School Library.

BILLIE JO McKEE

Services for BILLIE JO McKEE, 79, of Mabank, were held May 6 at the First Baptist Church of Mabank with Rev. Brent Tucker and Michael McKee officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were James Dunn, Blake Dunn, Jeff Furlano, Caleb Botsford, Michael McKee and Robert Garcia.

Mrs. McKee was born June 6, 1927 in Buffalo and passed away May 4 in Mabank. Previously of Dallas, she had lived in Mabank for the past 24 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mabank. She served as the director of the Tri-County Library in Mabank from 1991-1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Virginia McKee Dunn of Mabank and Paula Jane McKee Botsford of Lufkin; one son, Jim McKee of Mabank; seven grandchildren, Lisa Dunn Furlano, James Earl Dunn, Blake Dunn, Michael McKee, Shanna McKee Garcia, Caleb Botsford and Sarah Botsford and one great-grandchild, Nick Dunn.

JAIME LEANNE LOWERY

A graveside service for JAIME LEANNE LOWERY, 18, of Granbury, formerly of Tool, was held May 5 at Mankin Cemetery in Trinidad.

A memorial was held May 8 at Generations Church in Granbury.

Jaime Leanne Lowery was born Sept. 20, 1988 to Robert Mitchell and Veronica Lowery. She died in a car accident in Fort Worth, Sunday, April 29, 2007.

She attended Granbury schools through her junior year, then moved to Oregon and graduated there.

Her brother Michael and grandfathers Robert Lowery and Daniel Scharf preceded her in death.

Survivors are her parents, Veronica and Robert Lowery of Granbury; brother, David Lowery of Granbury; maternal grandparents, L.E. and Susie Franks of  Oklahoma City, Okla.; paternal grandparents, C.W. and Marian Carey of Granbury; and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name at First National Bank of Granbury, P.O. Box 400, Granbury, TX 70048, or the family would ask that you donate to Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers (M.A.D.D.)

TERRY GENE MEEKS

A memorial service for TERRY GENE MEEKS, 49, of Wortham, will be held Saturday, May 19. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. at 1460 E. Main in Gun Barrel City and proceed to the memorial service. Flowers may be sent to 712 Pritchell in Kemp.

Mr. Meeks was born Sept. 11, 1957 in Tyler to Billy Joe Meeks Sr. and Mildred Shinn Meeks and passed away May 12, 2007 in the Mexia hospital. For more than 30 years he was employed at Ace Leo Plumbing Co. in Corsicana.

He is survived by his parents, Billy J. Meeks Sr. and Joann; children, Samantha Townzen of Forney, Lora Jean Meeks of Wortham and Destinee Nicole Meeks and Kasie Elizabeth Marie Meeks, both of Wills Point; grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Townzen, April Dawn Townzen and Hannah Nicole Allgood; brother, Billy J. Meeks Jr. of Wylie; sister, Donna Lynn Vaugh of Kemp and fiancé, Marie  Johnson of Corsicana.

GARLAND DAVID LEWIS JR

GARLAND DAVID LEWIS JR., 83, passed away May 8, 2007. Services were held May 11 in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. The Rev. Hudson Biggio gave the eulogy. Burial was at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas under the direction of Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Donations in his memory may be directed to the Tarrant County Humane Society.

Mr. Lewis was born March 9, 1924 in Van Alstyne to G.D. and Beulah Lewis. He graduated from Van Alstyne High School. The day after the Pearl Harbor attack, Mr. Lewis joined the U.S. Navy and served on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. After the war, he attended SMU. In 1947, he married Leta "Fritz" Biggio.

"Curly" was employed by Chance Vought, now LTV. He worked on the flight line and became a general foreman in the building of airplanes for the Navy. In 1983, he retired. As longtime Dallasites, the Lewis family were members of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. In 1985, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis moved to Cedar Creek Lake, where he was active in feeding the local wildlife and soaking up the sun. Finally, in 2004, they moved to Fort Worth.

Our beloved "Andaddy" will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Leta; children, Cynthia Lewis (Fred Bruhweiler), Lynn Dee Lewis (Kirk Fuqua) and William J. Lewis; grandchildren, Cory Sparks (Becky Kanagaki), Justin Sparks (Jennifer), Zach Fuqua (Jodi), Erica Kelley (Josh), Camillia Bruhweiler (David Cohen), Sam Lewis and David "Fritz" Bruhweiler; great-grandchild, Arianna Sparks; sisters, Imogene Cook and Barbara Garland (Doug); brothers, Walter Lewis (Joyce) and Johnny Lewis; and many wonderful friends and pets.

OVEDA M. RUSH

OVEDA M. RUSH, 87, of Kemp, passed away at her residence on May 19, 2007. She was born Dec. 28, 1919 in Mt. Selman to Henry and Delphia Cheek.

Oveda was preceded in death by her first husband, Mack Jennings; second husband, Ortho Rush and her beloved fiancé, Leon Herring; two brothers: I.Z. Cheek and J.C. Cheek and sister, Geneva Doyle. She is survived by her sisters, Ira Penny Hudiberg of Hurst and Margie Hamby of Houston; nephew, Joe Cheek and wife Harriet of Kosciusko, MS as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services were held May 21 at Anderson-Clayton Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Hughes officiating. Interment was at Earl’s Chapel Cemetery in Jacksonville.

WILLIAM P. “BILL” KEEFE

A memorial service for WILLIAM P. “BILL” KEEFE, 91, of Gun Barrel City, were held May 19 at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with Rev. Byron  Jones officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

Mr. Keefe was born May 11, 1916 in St. Maries, Idaho and passed away May 15, 2007 in Athens.

Previously of Las Vegas, Mr. Keefe had lived in Gun Barrel City since 2001 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City. He was a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Keefe of Gun Barrel City; a daughter, Marlene Kevar of Las Vegas, Nev.; three stepchildren, Theresa Brown of Rockwall, Tim Hogan of Trinidad and Todd Hogan of Gun Barrel City; three granddaughters, three grandsons, two great-granddaughters, other family members and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City, 511 W. Main St., Gun Barrel City, TX 75156 or a charity of your choice.

PHYLLIS MAE HALIBURTON

PHYLLIS MAE HALIBURTON, 81, of Malakoff, passed away May 13, 2007 at Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in her honor at her home in Malakoff on Monday, May 28 from 1-4 p.m.

Phyllis was born Nov. 25, 1925 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She married Allen Haliburton Jan. 28, 1945 in Dallas.

Phyllis is survived by sons, Gene Haliburton of Red Oak and Lynn Haliburton of Hico; daughter-in-law, Deana Haliburton of Red Oak; brother, Jack Kimball of North Richland Hills; nieces, Kathy Brown of Elgin and Cindy Burt of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Amanda Ingram of Richardson, Michael Haliburton of Willis, Sarah Haliburton and Roy Haliburton of Hico and great-grandchildren, Kess and Byron Ingram of Richardson and Destiny, Blake and Landon Haliburton of Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Enola Kimball; husband, Allen Haliburton and great-grandson, Haiden Ingram.

MRS. GLADYS BEASLEY

MRS. GLADYS BEASLEY, age 89, died Tuesday, May 15, of congestive heart failure at the Heartland Nursing Home in Austin. Services were held Friday, May 18 at Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church in Tool. She was buried in RestHaven Cemetery in Corsicana. Services were under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points.

Born in Montague, she married R.D. Beasley on Sept. 5, 1936. They were married 63 years, eight months and 10 days when R.D. passed away. She is survived by three children, James Beasley of Dallas, Tobye Burgin-Braun of Evergreen,  Colo. and Sandy Fivecoat of Austin; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Beasley started Beasley Real Estate in Cockrell Hill and later in the Cedar Creek Lake area, where she moved with her husband in 1974. She was also a charter member of Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church and past president of the Cedar Creek Lake Women’s Club.

Gladys lived with a gift of joy that she willingly shared with everyone around her. She prided herself on her family, her marriage, and her involvement with her friends and church. She leaves a legacy of laughter with her family, including water skiing with her grandchildren when she was 65 and riding a scooter with her grandsons when she was 87. All of her family called her when they needed a good joke to tell. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gladys and R.D. Beasley Music Scholarship Fund at Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church.

JAMES "SCOUT" McDANIEL

Services for JAMES "SCOUT" McDANIEL, 59, of Kemp, were held May 26 in the Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel in Kemp with Rev. James Reed officiating.

Interment followed in the King Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. of Kemp.

Mr. McDaniel was born Sept. 15, 1947 in Opelousas, La. to Felder and Viola (Breeland) McDaniel and passed away May 22, 2007 in Kemp.

He was a member of the R.K. Forever and the Teamsters Local 767. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a Vietnam veteran, and worked for UPS for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Emma McDaniel of Kemp; daughters, Julie McDaniel of Kemp and Stephanie McDaniel of Kemp; sons, Dennis McCoy and his wife Tammy of Greenville and Paul McCoy of Athens; four grandchildren, Jansin and Courtney McCoy and Hunter Wilson McDaniel and Tanner Woods; brothers, Jack McDaniel of Seagoville and Howard McDaniel of Kemp; and other relatives and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Dick Roffino, Mark Seamore, Clark Seamore, Ricky Bass, Ken Lamrock and Mike Welch.
