ASHBY B. (A.B.) MCDANIEL

ASHBY B. (A.B.) MCDANIEL was born Feb. 24, 1913 in Tenaha and went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 27, 2007 at the age of 94.

He was survived by his wife of 70 years, Mozelle Clem McDaniel; three daughters, Carolyn Dantzler, Marsha Harris and Cheryl Phillips; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one sister, Dorothy Pease of Dallas and numerous other family and friends.

His career as owner of McDaniel Enterprises spanned 58 years. He served on the Board of Directors at the American Bank and Salvation Army. He was a member of the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Dallas House Builders Association and Oak Cliff Country Club.

They made their home in the Kessler Park area of Dallas and retired to Mabank in 1985. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held May 31 at 2 p.m. at Jaynes Funeral Home , 811 South Cockrell Hill Rd. in Duncanville. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery on I-35 South.

EDWARD LEON HAGER

EDWARD LEON HAGER, 37, of Payne Springs, was born Nov. 17, 1969 in Dallas and passed away May 23, 2007 in Athens. He was occupied as an auto mechanic.

He is survived by his father, Leon Hager of Payne Springs; brothers, A.C. Green of Aberdeen, Miss. and Billy Maxey of Irving; sisters, Alta Chambers of Payne Springs, Lee Ann Sanchez of Payne Springs and Tracey Hager of Mabank; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Ann Hager in 1993.

Burial was under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.

BARBARA D. BLOOM

In loving memory of BARBARA D. BLOOM (Helton), born Dec. 22, 1939 in Dallas, reunited with her mother Dorothy Helton Dyer (MamaSon) on May 23, 2007.

She is survived by her three daughters, Torri Morrison and family of Dallas, Misty Morgan and family of Irving and Vicki Talyor and family of Cedar Creek Lake; four grandchildren, Tiffany Morrison, Christal Morrison, Tody Morgan and Jeremy Franklin; her brother, Donnie Helton and wife Gail of Crosby; a neice, Lynnette Lister; nephew, Michael Helton and her father, Ray Dyer of Irving.

Mrs. Bloom retired from  Texas Instruments. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

VICKI LOUISE TAYLOR

VICKI LOUISE TAYLOR of Gun Barrel City died June 1, 2007 in Van Nursing Home. She was cremated.

She was born June 8, 1954 in Greenville.

Preceding her in death were her brother, Robert Norris and father, J.D. Norris. She is survived by two sons, Randy Snyder and his wife Bonnie, and Jonas “Mike” Snyder and two greandsons, Jerot and Robbie Snyder.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

EDNA H. MOORE LEE

EDNA H. MOORE LEE, 90, of Mabank, passed away June 2, 2007 in Ennis.

Mrs. Lee was born Feb. 22, 1917 in Edom to Rufus R. and Connie M. McMillan Moore.

Mrs. Lee grew up in Edom and lived with her husband, Marshall M. Lee in Dallas for many years where she was a beautician.

They retired to Mabank and lived there for over 20 years. Mrs. Lee was a member of the Payne Springs United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Ennis.

She is survived by her son, Billy Jack Karner of Mabank; two grandchildren, Patricia Nugent of Hewitt and James Karner of Austin; three great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday in the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Rev. Nathan Hodge officiating. Interment followed at Edom Cemetery.

DOROTHY LUCILLE WILSON ARGO

DOROTHY LUCILLE WILSON ARGO, 68, of Seven Points, passed away at her home on June 1, 2007.

She was born in Denton County to Charles Eugene Wilson and Mattie Lucille Gaston Wilson. She graduated from Denton High School and was a Baptist.

She married Clinton Argo on Feb. 2, 1957 in Denton County. She was a homemaker.

Services were held June 5 at the Cooper Creek Baptist Church in Denton with burial at the Cooper Creek Cemetery under the direction of DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton.

She is survived by her husband, Clinton Argo; sons, Sam Argo and wife Charity and Eddie Argo and wife Traci, all of Seven Points; sisters, Charlotte Stevens of Gun Barrel City and Nita Wilson of Irving; brothers, Fred Wilson of Bullard and Johnny Wilson of Bedford; four grandchildren, Chelsie Argo, Jessica Clay, Morgan Hall and Makynzi Young and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Richard Wilson, preceded her in death.

DERRELL DEWAYNE (RED) JENKINS

DERRELL DEWAYNE (RED) JENKINS, 72, of Mabank, passed away at his home June 7, 2007. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was born July 22, 1934 to Ulus H. and Ethel Florine Baird Jenkins. He was a Baptist and worked for 34 years for the City of Dallas as a heavy equipment driver. He also drove school buses for Kaufman and Mabank schools. He loved his auctions, flea markets and First Mondays.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jenkins of Mabank; three children, James Burt and husband Diane of Kaufman, Derrell Jenkins Sr. and wife Robin of Dallas and Joe Jenkins and wife Angie of Forney; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

MRS. W.A. (JUANITA) BAIRD

MRS. W.A. (JUANITA) BAIRD, 80, of Canton, passed away June 8, 2007 in Grand Saline. Services were held June 11 at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Rev. Alton Womble and Rev. Jack Thompson officiating. Interment followed at the King Cemetery in the Aley community.

Mrs. Baird was born Sept. 16, 1926 to Seaborn Cecil Henson Sr. and Mary Edra Ford Henson. She was a member of the Midway Church of God. She grew up in Aley where she went to school in a two room brick school house. She had lived in Canton since 1960. She enjoyed helping others through her missions work She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Augusta Baird; son, David Ray Baird in 1971; mother, Mary ÒTedÓ Ford Henson; father, Seaborn Cecil Henson Sr.; three sisters, Willie Marie Henson Fritz, Verna Lee Starek and Mamie Tatum and a great-granddaughter, Heather Walker.

She is survived by three sons, William ÒBillÓ Baird of Rockwall, Jerry Wayne Baird of Clay Center, Kan. and Walter Baird of Canton; two daughters, Talitha Jean Little of Bowie and Coquez Moffatt of Cooper; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Seaborn Cecil Henson Jr. of New Harmony and a sister, Laura Jean Kay of Killeen.

Pallbearers were Glenn Tatum, Buddy Butler, James Little, George Millsap, Ruben Reyes and Ron Seale.

SALLY ELAINE GILMORE

SALLY ELAINE GILMORE, 43, was born to Frank Turner Pope and Geneva Janette Cox Pope on Feb. 20, 1964 in Dallas and passed away June 9, 2007.

Services were held June 12 at Central Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs with the Revs. Kenneth Rhodes and Don Tinsley officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove North in Hopkins County. Pallbearers were Jason Hyde, Glen Nicholson, Paul Brewer, Charles “Bubba” Davis, Donnie Roberts and Dondi Brewer.

On Nov. 1, 1986, Sally married her dream come true when she and David Gilmore wed in Gun Barrel City. She loved her family and they loved her. For over 18 years she worked at City National Bank in Sulphur Springs and recently received a promotion into the Loans Department. She began her banking career in 1984 at Cedar Creek Bank.

Sally was preceded in death by her father, Frank Turner Pope and her father-in-law, Loice Gilmore. She is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Regan Daylie Gilmore; son, Jacob Turner Gilmore; her mother and stepfather, Geneva and Steve Ballard and sisters, Renee Hyde and husband Tim and Lisa Davis and husband Charles. She is also survived by stepsisters and stepbrothers, Cloe Ballard, Brandy Cathey and husband Larry, Josh Ballard, Marty Roberts, Lindy Roberts and wife Anna, Kelly Roberts and Lori Nell Roberts; mother-in-law, Vivian Gilmore; brother-in-law, Danny Gilmore and wife Julie; and nieces and nephews Jason Hyde, Kerri Dalme, Kim Wilson, Kaitlyn Grant, Knox Wilson, Brandi Davis, Charles D. Davis, Rachael Davis, Haley Davis, Nicholas Gilmore, Daniel Gilmore and Kelsey Gilmore.

SARA WEBB BROWN

SARA WEBB BROWN of Athens passed away June 25, 2007 in Athens. A resident of Athens for 30 years, she was a member of Mensa and was a wonderful wife and a terrific mother.

Graveside services were scheduled for June 28 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with David Arnold officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Henderson County Humane Society.

She is survived by her husband, Art of Athens; one son, Joe of Richardson; a daughter, Tracy of Richardson; two aunts and other relatives.

ROBIN LYNN JUNELL

Services for ROBIN LYNN JUNELL were held July 3 at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp with Rev. Bob Steeger officiating.

Robin passed away June 26, 2007, at her home in Dallas.

Robin lived in Dallas for the past five years, while Cedar Creek Lake had been her home for many years, having grown up in Kemp. She had many accomplishments in her life that she and everyone were very proud of. She was a homemaker, a waitress, and a very loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was well known and loved around the entire lake area. Robin was full of life, friendly, and very supportive of everyone, whatever their endeavor. In spite of her downfalls, she was an overcomer and lived a life that was pleasing to God. She had the guidance of God and He brought her to a new and better life, which she tried to share with everyone she met.

She worked for Homeward Bound Treatment Center, where she was an intake officer-counselor. She also had finished one semester of college towards her nursing degree. Robin enjoyed the outdoors and riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. She liked to travel and she loved to help anyone who needed it. She was an inspiration to people who want to turn their lives around, proving to all who knew her that it can be done. Robin was a hero, and she will be missed.

Her husband, Gary Junell; dad, Kenneth DeBorde; brothers, Mike DeBorde and Richard DeBorde and sister, Charolette Taylor, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her father, Gerald Grant Cohn and wife LaDonna of Naples, Florida; mother, Jeraldine Cobb and husband Skip of Kemp; children, Jacob Grant Junell and wife Angie of Kemp and Angie Lynn Junell and fiancé Lawrence Davis of Longview; grandchildren, Justin, Austin and Dustin Junell, all of Kemp and Andrea, Sergio Jr. and Andrew Solis, all of Del Rio; brothers Joel Cohn and wife Ava of Kemp, Randy Cohn and wife "Penny" of Houston, Jimmy DeBorde of Kemp, Rusty Cobb of Kemp, Wayne Cobb of Kemp, Tim Cobb of Kemp, Gary Cowan of Houston and sister, Kathy Anderson of Kemp. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

ALVIN LYNN BRUNSON

Born Feb. 19, 1939, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and devoted friend, ALVIN LYNN BRUNSON joined his Heavenly Father and departed his family on June 26, 2007.

He passed away after his battle with cancer, which he fought with great strength, dignity and exceptional courage. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Addie Lee and Leroy Brunson; brother, Thomas and twin brother Calvin; and special Uncle Thomas Brunson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Sandra; his children and their spouses, Kim and Dennis Draper and Brandon and Stefanie Brunson; grandchildren, Micah, Cristan and husband Dennis, Tyler, Jaime, Austin and Mason; great-grandchildren, Reagen, Reanna, Brooklyn, Riley and Cash; special second mother, Aunt Mae Brunson; mother-in-law, Ophelia Twomey; in-laws, Carol Harvath, Tommy Twomey, Patsy Brunson and Jeannie Brunson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friends and buddies at Cedar Creek Lake and his devoted dog Scooter. He was a friend to so many and loved by all who knew him.

Services were held June 30 under the direction of Corley Funeral Home of Corsicana.

MARGIE FERN SNOWDEN DAVIS

MARGIE FERN SNOWDEN DAVIS was born on the 9th of June, 1918 near Mabank,  Texas to George Marvin Snowden and Amanda Ann Hammett Snowden.

Margie, along with her husband, Virgil built and operated the Davis Nursing Home in Denver, Colorado for 33 years before selling out and retiring in 1988.

Following retirement, they lived in  Oklahoma, Illinois, and Tool,  Texas. They returned to Colorado in 2001. Margie expired on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, H. Virgil Davis; her three children, Beatrice Lynn Green, Bethany Ann Atkins and James Marc Davis and four grandchildren: Hernan Posada, Luis Posada, Matthew Davis and Leacia Davis. She will be placed beside her mother and father in the Tool Cemetery along with many other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church in Tool on Monday, July 23, 2007; 10:30 a.m.

CODINE B. JAMES

CODINE B. JAMES, 65, of Seven Points, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at her home in Seven Points. She was born September 16, 1941 in McKinney, the daughter of the late Louie and Corrine Craft.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW in Seven Points and the WBIC Ladies Bowling League.

Surviving are her husband, Dick Hardesty; son, Dale James; daughter, Tina and husband Steve Gambrell of Leander; mother-in-law, Lois James; two brothers, Harold and wife Brenda Craft and Jerry and wife, Denita Craft; a sister, Louise and husband Norman Wellborn; three grandsons, Stephen James, Kevin Neal and Justin Neal; four granddaughters, Heather Baker, Brittany Gambrell, Rebecca Lavery and Destiny Lavery and a great-grandson, Ben Blake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Joe James and brothers, N.C. Dickerson and Paul Dickerson.

Memorial services will be held at Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22 with Rev. Eston Williams officiating.

DOROTHY RAYE CONNER

DOROTHY RAYE CONNER, 81, of Kemp, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas.

She was born Sept. 28, 1925 in Dallas, the daughter of the late Frank and Mima Moore. She retired from Southwestern Bell and Centex Construction.

She loved working with flowers and gardening. She spent her life being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are two daughters, Connie and husband Mike Hartley and Andrea and husband Brian Drain; a son, Tony Conner; two sisters, Helen Hickman and Juanita Williams; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mima Moore and her husband, Ellis Fowler Conner.

Services were held July 9 at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster with Rev. Eston Williams officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points.

JAMES “BUTCH” YAGER

JAMES “BUTCH” YAGER, 63, of Canton, passed away July 18, 2007 in Tyler after a long illness.

Mr. Yager was born Nov. 20, 1943 in Alto to Calvert Earl and Susie Emily Shelton Yager.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton. He was married 40 years to his precious wife, Gwen. He loved to fish, spend time with his family, horse races and bingo. He also loved to watch his kids and grandkids play sports, rodeo, band and anything else they were involved in.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gwen Yager of Canton; daughters, Leona Alexander of Springtown and Carrie Clements and husband Tommy of Mesquite; sons, Rusty Yager and wife Paulette of Mabank and Ron Yager and wife Lisa of Canton; sister, Ruby Fields of Mabank; 14 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Elizabeth Clements; three brothers, Bobby DeWayne Yager, Billy Ray Yager and Walter Glenn Yager and one sister, Carol LeJean Yager.

Services were held July 20 in Eubank Chapel in Canton with the Rev. Mark Robinson officiating. Interment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Pallbearers were Jeff Burge, Rick Yager, John Tillison, Larry Yager, Chris Dunlap and Casey Webster.

Honorary pallbearers were Sunshine McCord, Jimmy McCord, Sunny McCord and Bobby McCord.

JAMES ALVIN GEORGE

JAMES ALVIN GEORGE, 77, of Trinidad, died July 15, 2007 in Athens. He was born Aug. 27, 1929 in South Mayd, the son of the late Alvin Earl and Frances George.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America and played guitar in The Yousta Bees band. He retired from  Texas Instruments in 1990 as a sheet metal worker.

Surviving are his wife, Marcella George of Trinidad; step-mother, Ruby Lee George of Sherman; four sons, Russell George and wife Karen of Grand Prairie, Richard George and wife Brenda of Campbell, Jeffrey George and wife Candace of Grand Prairie and Kenneth George of Grapevine; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Fern and Willie Gray of Trinidad, Mary Barbara and Leonard Gifford of San Antonio and Sharron and Michael Pryal of Grand Prairie; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 18 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Francis O’Dowd officiating, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Seven Points. Interment followed at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
