Mrs. Barbara Reece, age 82 of Kerrville, passed away Friday, September 26, 2003 at a Kerrville hospital. She was born February 11, 1921 in Beaver, OK to Ray and Lela (Meese) Chase.

Barbara was a devoted mother and loved serving the Lord. She illustrated it through her work in Awana Children’s Program with Kerrville Bible Church.

Survivors include daughter, Lee Ann Duncan of Kerrville; son, Marshal Austin of Tampa, FL; sister, Carolyn Koehn of Bellevue, WA; brother, Hal Chase of Perryton, TX; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Kerrville Bible Church with Pastor Chris McKnight officiating. Burial was held at Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Awana Children’s Program at Kerrville Bible Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Connie Reeves
Born in Eagle Pass, TX on September 26, 1901
Departed on August 18, 2003 and resided in Eagle Pass, TX.

Mrs. Connie Reeves, age 101 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2003 in a San Antonio hospital. She was born September 26, 1901 in Eagle Pass, TX to William and Ada (Wallace) Douglas.

Mrs. Reeves was inducted into the Cowgirl and Cowboy Hall of Fame and was the first female in law school at the University of  Texas. She was a school teacher at Thomas  Jefferson High School in San Antonio and started the first girl’s drill team, the "Lasso’s" there and is still an active group. She was employed at Camp Waldemar as a riding instructor for 70 years. She taught 30,000+ girls over the years. Connie also authored a book called "I Married A Cowboy." She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include six nieces, Marilynn Baldwin of Chicago, Beverly Felderman of Alexandria, VA, Gloria Goodwin of Kerrville, Kathy Fulgim of Abilene, Patty Barton of Pecan Plantation, TX and Dr. Glenda Smith of Austin; and six nephews, Gerald Witt of Camp Verde, Joe Dell Witt of Center Point, Dennis McPherson of Wharton, TX, Harry McPherson of Rockport, Gary Brothers of Michigan and Darwin Fisher of Uvalde.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Reeves in 1985.

Services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Rev. Mac McKinney officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Verde Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Witt, Joe Dell Witt, Dennis McPherson, Harry McPherson, Darwin Fisher and Johnny Felderman.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Adrian Reid
Born in Henryetta, OK on August 22, 1929
Departed on September 28, 2003 and resided in Medina, TX.

Mr. Adrian Reid, age 74 of Medina, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2003 at a Kerrville hospital. He was born in Henryetta, OK on August 22, 1929 to Lansford Adrian Reid, Sr. and Agnes Hull. He married Elizabeth Ann Bowers on February 28, 1948 in El Paso, TX.

Adrian was an operator at Standard Oil in El Paso, TX from 1952-1985. He was a house parent at Medina Children’s Home and a member of the Medina Church of Christ.

Survivors are: wife, Elizabeth Ann Reid of Medina; mother, Agnes Pouppirt of San Antonio; daughter, Linda Sue Reid of Enid, OK; son, Michael Reid of El Camp, TX; grandchildren, Daniel, James and Sarah Reid, Billy Thompson and Lisa Shively; great grandchildren, Shelby, Ashley, and Zachery Shively.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2003, 7:30 p.m. at the Medina Church of Christ officiated by Mr. Jim Harris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Medina Children’s Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Beatrice M. Renner

Mrs. Beatrice M. Renner, Age 99, of Kerrville,  Texas, died on Sunday, August 8, 2004, in a Kerrville nursing center. Funeral services for Mrs. Renner are pending and when completed will be announced by Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Jose Antonio "Joe" Rivera
Born in Hereford, TX on November 10, 1956
Departed on February 1, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Mr. Jose Antonio "Joe" Rivera, age 47 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2004 at a local hospital. He was born November 10, 1956 in Hereford, TX to Carlos Rivera, Sr. and Santos Aleman Rivera. He married Anabel Garcia on December 2, 1977 in Kerrville.

Joe graduated from Fredericksburg High School. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and was active in the choir there. He was self-employed in the construction business.

Survivors include his wife, Anabel Rivera of Kerrville; daughter, Jessica Rivera of Corpus Christi; son, Jake Rivera of Kerrville; sisters, Juanita Reyes Guevara, Gloria Gonzales and husband, Manuel, Estella Condarco and husband, Eduardo and Amy Martinez and husband, Mike, all of Fredericksburg; brothers, Leon Rivera and wife, Candelaria, Jesse Rivera and wife, Rumalda, Alvino Rivera and wife, Martha, James Rivera and Elizabeth Molina, and John Rivera and wife, Alexia, all of Fredericksburg and Luis Rivera and wife, Linda of Rollins, WY; sister in law, Rosa Rivera of Fredericksburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Santos Rivera, Sr., and brother, Carlos Rivera, Jr.

The Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, February 3, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Father Michael Boulette officiating.

Mass will be Wednesday, February 4, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Michael Boulette as celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Garcia, Jake Rivera, Gilbert Rivera, Alex Guayardo, Manuel Gonzales, Jr., Michael Gonzales, Felipe Rivera, and Leon Rivera, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe’s Godchildren, Nina Renee Ozuna, Jaime Ozuna, Victoria Juarez, Jacole Allen Rodriguez, Kimberley Gil, Alyece Rodriguez, Emily Elise Conditt, Caedem Lane Conditt.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville

Ruth Rodgers
Born in Bogata, TX on July 30, 1910
Departed on September 16, 2003 and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Ruth Rodgers died Tuesday, September 16.2003. Ruth was born July 30,1910, in Bogata,  Texas, to Virgil and Myrtle Tyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack Rodgers, one brother and three sisters.

Ruth lived in Odessa for many years where she was a teacher and school counselor while her husband was a teacher, principal and president of Odessa College. Their retirement home was in Alamogordo, New Mexico. After Dr. Rodgers death, Ruth moved to Austin and then in 1996 to Kerrville.

Surviving is one brother Jack Tyer of Rails,  Texas. Other survivors include nephews Ed Moses of Kerrville,  Texas; Travis Tyer of Quincy, Illinois; Garl Tyer of Tampa, Florida; and nieces Bettye Robinett of Amarillo,  Texas; Mary Fry of El Paso,  Texas; Frances Symank of Rockport,  Texas; Kathryn Sullivan of Stigler,  Oklahoma; and sixteen great-nephews and great-nieces.

Graveside services will be in October in the Rosalie Cemetery, Red River County,  Texas.

Memorials may be directed to Vista Care Hospice, 420 Water Street, Suite 104, Kerrville,  Texas 78028 or to First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville,  Texas 78028.

Margarita Rodriguez

Doris Lavonne Draper Rogers

Doris Lavonne Draper Rogers, 61, of 235 Post Oak Road in Medina,  Texas, died Monday, July 19 at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born April 10, 1943 in Hugo,  Oklahoma, she graduated from Brazosport High School in Brazosport,  Texas, before completing a business degree from
Massey College in Houston. She was a homemaker for several years before working as a receptionist for the Upper Guadalupe River Authority in Kerrville,  Texas.

Doris and her loving husband, Gil, were married for 42 years.

An active member of her church, she sang in the choir, worked for several years with the church's youth group, coached the girl's basketball team and arranged flowers for the services. She had a special love for music, especially Broadway musicals, and encouraged musical development in her
family and friends.

She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Glenda Draper and Denise Mayberry; a brother, Mike Draper; two sons, Bryan and his wife, Julie Rogers of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mack and his wife, Samantha Rogers of Anchorage Alaska; a daughter, Christine Shia of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and five grandchildren, Joshua, Kelsie, Brooke, Zachary and Mason.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera,  Texas. Graveside service will be private.

Lilly McComb Rolls
Born on November 6, 1920 in Knippa, TX

Lilly McComb Rolls, age 86 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 in a local hospital. She was born November 6, 1920 in Knippa, TX to Rafael and Aurelia (Castillo) Vaquera. She married her first husband, Bennie McComb on December 27, 1948 in Uvalde. He preceded her in death. She married Edward Rolls in Bandera and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2002. Lilly was a nurse, a profession she dearly loved. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ingram.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Guillory and husband, Thomas of Kerrville, and Brenda Lay and husband, David of La Porte; sons, Robert McComb and wife, Rebecca of La Porte, James McComb of Pasadena and Ronald McComb and wife, Lynne of Kerrville; two step children, Carlton McComb and Geneva Bosco, both of Canyon Lake; sisters, Betty Garcia and Ester Dungon; brothers, Ishmael Vaquera and Moses Vaquera; grandchildren, Tricia Blundell, Jimmy McComb, Jr., Clint Potter, Jennifer Trammell, Mark McComb, Michael McComb, Kelly McComb and Bennie McComb; great grandchildren, LeAnn Blundell, Bubba Blundell, Emily Blundell, Ronnie McComb, Jr., Bethanie McComb, Stevie Dick, Skylar Trammell, Demi Trammell, Mason McComb, Joshua Potter, Samantha Potter and Landen McComb.

Services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007, 3 PM at First Baptist Church in Ingram officiated by Rev. Jerry Krawl.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 19, 2007, 2 PM at Grandview Cemetery in La Porte.

James H. Rose
Born in Kerrville, TX on January 21, 1923

Mr. James H. Rose, age 81, a lifetime resident of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at a local hospital. He was born January 21, 1923 in Kerrville to Charlie and Nora Mae (Kittrell) Rose. On June 5, 1944, he married Helen Rowland in Reno, NV.

James served in the Army during World War II. He was a cook at the Veteran’s Hospital for over 30 years. Mr. Rose was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Kerrville.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Rose of Kerrville; two sons, Frank Rose and wife, Gloria of Shreveport, LA and Sammy Rose and wife, Gloria of Kerrville; and four grandchildren, Brandy, Daniel, Joshua and Malissa Rose.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Sunrise Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Mel Hardin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunrise Baptist Church, 1200 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.
