Mrs. Rebecca Trejo, age 41 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2003 at her residence. She was born July 4, 1961 in Kerrville to Frank and Emma (Valderaz) Ontiveros. She married Jesse Trejo in Grand Island, NE in 1977. He preceded her death in 1979.

Rebecca was a homemaker and member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.

Survivors include her father, Frank Ontiveros of Grand Island, NE; two daughters, Jeanie Trejo and Richard Garces of Kerrville, and Angela Cantu and husband, Reuben of Arlington; six sisters, Sarah Ontiveros and Patrica Reyes, both of Kerrville, Martha Zavala of Arlington, Lalita Ontiveros of Grand Island, NE, Rose Mary Ayala of Stonewall, and Connie Ontiveros of Comfort; two brothers, Albert Ontiveros of Grand Island, NE and Keco Ontiveros of Arlington; five grandchildren, Reuben Cantu, Donovan Trejo, Devin Trejo, Riley Cantu and Ashley Garces.

Memorial services will be held Monday, June 2, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Michael Boulette officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bank of America to help defray funeral expenses.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Mrs. Marjorie Rees Troegle, age 84 of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2003 at her residence. She was born July 1, 1919 in Girard, KS to Ernest and Delia (Wheelock) Rees. On December 24, 1941, she married Frederick Troegle in Walters, OK.

Mrs. Troegle was a secretary and homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville and the Good Sam Travel Club. Marjorie volunteered at the Cardiac Rehab Center in Kerrville.

She is survived by her husband, Fred of Kerrville; sister, Virginia Burdick of Springdale, AR; nephew, Kenneth Burdick and niece, Betty Scott.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Dr. John A. Petty officiating. Her ashes will be buried in Neosho Memorial Park in Neosho, MO at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 291321, Kerrville, TX 78029 or to the Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Hope Lilly Turpin

Hope Lilly Turpin, 80, was claimed by death on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in Kerrville,  Texas. She was born April 25, 1923, in Bluefield,  West Virginia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Lilly. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank G. Turpin; son, Frank G. Turpin, Jr., and wife, Jacquie, of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Gina Cohen and husband, Phillip, of Summersville, MO; daughter, Martha Seng and husband, Darrell, of Houston, TX; son, Tom Turpin of Fairfield, IA; daughter, Sally Meyers and husband, Michael, of Indianapolis, IN; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Turpin received her degree in Elementary Education at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia, and began her teaching career in Chester, Virginia.

She moved to Kerrville in 1995 from Anchorage, Alaska, after her husband Frank retired. She was active in First United Methodist Church, the PEO Sisterhood, and she enjoyed Riverhill Country Club activities.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Kerrville on Saturday, March 13, 2004, 2:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Warren Hornung.

Juan Antonio Valdez, Sr.
Born in Kerrville, TX on March 28, 1927

Mr. Juan Antonio Valdez, Sr., age 76, a lifetime resident of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Kerrville on March 28, 1927 to Edward and Maria (Ramirez) Valdez.

Juan worked for the City of Kerrville Street Department and was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by four daughters, Olga Ramirez of Kerrville, Christina Valdez of Albuquerque, NM, Hope Valdez of Kerrville and Linda Valdez of Albuquerque, NM; three sons, Tony Valdez and Joe Valdez, both of Kerrville and David Valdez of Houston; two sisters, Concha Valdez of Kerrville and Louisa Valdez of San Antonio; one brother, Emilio Valdez of Ingram; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isadora Valdez in 1993.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, July 24, 2003, 6:00 p.m., Grimes Funeral Chapels with Deacon Charles Domingues officiating.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 25, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Deacon Charles Domingues officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Bialobos, David Valdez, Joe Valdez, Tony Valdez, Gino Delgadillo and Pablo Valdez.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Pedro "Pete" Ybarra Valero
Born in Saspamco, TX on June 2, 1920
Departed on September 16, 2003 and resided in Comfort, TX.

Pedro "Pete" Ybarra Valero passed away on September 16, 2003 at the Fredericksburg hospital. He succumbed to heart congestion. He had celebrated his 83rd birthday on June 2nd of this year with his family. He was married to the late Vickie Valero for 54 years. They married and raised their children in Comfort.

Pete leaves behind many family members and friends. He is survived by his friend and companion, Mary Delgadillo; five children: Irene Trevino, Henry Valero, Mary Rios, Butch Valero, and Cindy Alvarado; sons-in-law: Joe Trevino, Benny Rios and Gabe Alvarado; daughters-in-law: Lydia Valero and Christine Valero; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Estella Alcorta, Carolina Gonzales and Ofelia Garcia; one brother, John Menchaca and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florinda Lleti; brothers, Alex Menchaca, Manuel Balero and Saladino Menchaca and his oldest sister, Maria Garcia.

Services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Father Gilberto Vallejo officiating.

Madeline C. Vallari
Born in  White Plains, NY on November 12, 1920
Departed on August 11, 2004, and resided in Kerrville, TX

Madeline C. Vallari entered into rest at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville,  Texas, on August 11, 2004.
The daughter of the late Alden and Elizabeth Hooper Cuett, she was born on November 12, 1920, in  White Plains, New York.

She was the widow of George W. Gordon and Gilbert P. Vallari. Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Gordon Locke and her husband Frederick Locke of Middletown, New York; and a niece, Heather Cuett Meathrell of Westlake Village, California.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Kerrville,  Texas, and a regular visitor at Harmony Baptist Church in Middletown, New York.

Visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Sunday, August 15, 2004, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Service begins at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2004, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with Dr. John Petty and Chaplain Ted Hinton, officiating.

Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor, New York. A memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 800  Jackson Rd, Kerrville,  Texas 78028.

Patricia Strickbine Van Reet
Born in Trieste, Italy on March 22, 1952

Patricia Strickbine Van Reet joyfully joined her heavenly Father on March 24, 2004. She was born in Trieste, Italy March 22, 1952 to Claudia Marassi and Robert Strickbine. Her father was in the United States Army and served at the Battle of the Bulge. She came to this country through Ellis Island when she was 6 weeks old. She grew up in Germany and El Paso where she graduated from the University of  Texas at El Paso with honors. She graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where she completed her residency and fellowship in neurology. Dr. Van Reet was the first woman neurologist in San Antonio where she practiced until moving to Kerrville in 1993. She was the Medical Director of Peterson Hospice and Palliative Care. She was active in the Executive Woman’s Club of Kerrville, the Hill Country Book Club, and the Hill Country Emmaus Community. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville. She was the proud mother of Alan Van Reet who will graduate from the United States Naval Academy in May. She is survived by her son, Alan Van Reet of Annapolis, MD, her husband, Robert Kelly of Kerrville, her mother, Claudia Boehmer of Boerne, two sisters, Barbara Burc of San Antonio and Michel Witherow of Bakersfield, CA, her nephew, Zachary Witherow, and her stepson and grandson, Daniel Kelly and Connor Michael Kelly of Rockport. She requested memorials for Peterson Hospice & Palliative Care and the Raphael Community Free Clinic.

A celebration of Dr. Van Reet’s life will be Thursday, March 25, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, officiated by Dr. Warren Hornung.

Mass will be held Friday, March 26, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kerrville, TX, with Father Michael Boulette as celebrant.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

John Lloyd Van Cise
Born in Kelso, WA on June 17, 1936

Mr. John Lloyd Van Cise, Age 67, of Kerrville,  Texas, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003, at a Kerrville hospital. Mr. Van Cise, a resident of Kerrville for 8 ½ years and a prior resident of Virginia, was born on June 17, 1936, in Kelso ,  Washington, to Burt Van Cise and Juanita McCloud Van Cise.

John was a Broadcasting Engineer for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon for twenty years. He married Shirley Mendenhall on November 26, 1994, in Arlington, Virginia. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was a Master Mason. He was also a member of the Alcoholics Anonymous with his home group affiliation being Live and Let.

Survivors, Wife, Mrs. Shirley Van Cise of Kerrville; Two Daughters, Marla Hunter of Newman, Georgia and Christina Parker of Kernersville, North Carolina; Two Sons, Allen Van Cise of Tampa, Florida and Danny Greenhalgh of Anthem, Arizona; One sister, Vivian Van Vuesen; Two Brothers, Dale Davis and Kenneth Van Cise; Five Grandchildren, Justin and Krystle Greenhalgh, Michele and Mark Hunter and Nicole Van Cise. He will also be missed by his two dogs, T.D.D. and Little Girl.

Funeral Services, 10:00 A. M., Tuesday, July 22, 2003, Grimes Funeral Chapels. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, 1685 Branham Lane, Suite 227, San Jose, CA 95118.

Raymond Lock Wachter
Born in Hunt,  Texas on January 7, 1912

Mr. Raymond Lock Wachter, age 91 of Mountain Home,  Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at his residence. He was born January 7, 1912 in Hunt,  Texas to Henry E. Wachter and Nora Lock Wachter.

Raymond was a rancher, plumber and had worked for Williams plumbing. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Wachter of Ingram; two sons, Robert Raymond Wachter of Mountain Home and James Eugene Wachter of Rosharon,  Texas; one sister, Roberta Miears of Seguin; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Wachter and his son, William Nolan Wachter.

Services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2003, 3:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery. Pallbearers will be W.D. Albrecht, Philip Albrecht, Winston Albrecht, Robert Wachter, Speedy Switzer and Ron Storms.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.

William G. "Bill" Wagner
Born in Hardtner, KS on September 15, 1932

Mr. William G. "Bill" Wagner, age 71 of Kerrville, was raised up to heaven Sunday, January 25, 2004 in Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital. He was born September 15, 1932 in Hardtner, Kansas to Bill and Roberta (Burnham) Wagner. As a teenager, he worked for his uncles, Keith Burnham and Barney Ritchie, on their farms and he developed a love for the country life and the outdoors, something he shared with his sons and family.

In January, 1951, he married Lavona Slack in Wichita, KS. Bill was the youngest crew-chief supervisor at the age of 18 for Beechcraft in Wichita, KS, where he worked for 20 years, respected by both his supervisors and employees. He worked in the aircraft industry for many years as a supervisor in Wichita and McPherson, KS. He also worked for Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville. He operated two full-service stations in Austin, TX before coming to Kerrville. In Kerrville, he owned a service shop on Broadway and Wagner Auto Service, Inc. on Sidney Baker. Bill Wagner was not only a prominent business owner for many years, he also served as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His love for his family and friends illuminated the air everywhere around him. He was loved by all who knew him. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Lavona Wagner of Kerrville; sons, Rickey Dean Wagner of Kerrville, David L. Wagner and wife, Sandra of Athol, Idaho and Randy E. Wagner and wife, Veronica of Kerrville; sister, Anita Siemer and husband, John of Wichita, KS; brother, Scott McMoran and wife, Linda of Clermont, FL; and two grandchildren, William Ryan Wagner and Angela Kay Wagner. He is also survived by a loving extended family and many friends. Bill will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at Bill and Lavona’s home at 1:00pm, Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004.
