Suzi Waits, age 43 of Bandera, passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 in a San Antonio hospital. She was born December 5, 1960 in Dallas to Alger and Elizabeth Ann (Overton) Waits.
Survivors include her mother, Bitsy Waits of Bandera and numerous loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alger Waits, and brother, Eddy Stapleton.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at the Beverage Barn Pavilion with Dusty Britches officiating.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

Gwendolyn Elizabeth "Betty" Wardlaw
Born in Lubbock, TX on March 6, 1950
Departed on July 3, 2004, and resided in Center Point, TX

Betty Wardlaw was born March 6, 1950 to Eloise and Roy Tonroy of Lubbock,  Texas and passed away July 3, 2004. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth H. Wardlaw of Center Point; her son, John Moore of Kerrville; one brother, Donald R. Tonroy of Spring,  Texas; two nephews, Austin Tonroy and wife, Gena of Waring,  Texas and Samuel Tonroy and wife, Julie of San Francisco, California; and one niece, Lindsey Tonroy of The Woodlands,  Texas.
Betty was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Hill Country in Kerrville and the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Dallas. She and her husband owned Rockin River Inn Bed & Breakfast and River Bluff Festival Barn, both in Center Point.

She was an active member of the Center Point Area Historic Preservation Association where she was very instrumental in the planning, development and construction of the new entry gates and memorial wall in the Historical Park. Betty served as chairman of the Historic Park Committee in Center Point and was past president of both United Cerebral Palsy of Dallas and United Cerebral Palsy of  Texas. Prior to moving from Dallas to Center Point, Betty was a residential real estate appraiser holding the designation, Senior Residential Analysts given by the Appraisal Institute. Betty was the first female president of the Dallas chapter of the Appraisal Institute, at that time, the largest chapter in the country. Nationally, she served on the Appraisal Institute’s Ethics and Standards Committee.

Memorial services for Betty will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at River Bluff Festival Barn, 103 Skyline Dr., Center Point,  Texas.

Rather than floral remembrances, her husband prefers to honor Betty’s wishes and requests anyone wanting to remember Betty to please do so with donations to United Cerebral Palsy, Camp C.A.M.P., a camp for severely disabled children in Center Point or the charity of your choice.

Mrs. Stan "Bernice" Warren

Mrs. Stan "Bernice" Warren, age 82 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2003 at her residence. She was born March 19, 1921 in Marquand, MO to Ernest and Velma (McGee) Reagan. On February 12, 1943, she married Stanford Robert Warren in Dayton, Ohio.

Bernice was a resident of Kerrville since 1979. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her daughter Jill Warren and husband, David M. Smith of Santa Fe, NM.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Warren and two sisters, Erma Kizziar of St. Louis, MO and Norma Counts of Fredericktown, MO.

No services will be held at this time.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Christine Hamilton Way

Christine Hamilton Way, age 96 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at her residence. She was born October 20, 1906 in Hunt County,  Texas to Walter Thomas Hamilton and Mary Ellen Dennis Hamilton. She married James Arthur Way in Plainview,  Texas in 1925. He preceded her death in Snyder,  Texas in 1967.

She is survived by three sons, Denver Way Sr. of  Johnson City, TX, Delwin Way and wife, Lynn of Zephyr, TX, Billy Way and wife, Vida of Brenham, TX; three daughters, Naoma Birkner of Conroe, TX, Barbara Lane of Center Point, TX, Neva Steiner and husband, Billy Joe of Kerrville, TX; two daughters in law, Maurine Way of Azle, TX and Delores Way of Kerrville, TX; one stepdaughter, Estelle Staub of Peoria, IL; 28 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister, Rowena Evans and husband Bill of Kerrville, TX; one niece and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth R. Way; one stepson, Weldon A. Way and one stepdaughter, Christine Way Hill.

She was a member of the Assembly of God denomiation for 58 years and attended Calvary Temple Church after moving to Kerrville in 1993. She loved studying and teaching the Bible. She was educated in the Plainview area schools and Wayland Baptist College. She was a long time member of the Women’s Missionary Council where she served as president for several years.

The family would like to offer special appreciation to Dr. Ann Rosson, also to Vista-Care Hospice for their wonderful and kind care.

Services will be Friday, April 11, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Rev. Jim Way and Rev. Terry Way officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Zephyr Cemetery in Zephyr,  Texas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.

Ishmal B. Webb
Born in Claude, TX on December 23, 1929

Ishmal Belmont "I.B." Webb, Jr. passed away at the University Hospital in San Antonio on August 9, 2004, following a prolonged illness. His funeral will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville at 10:00 A. M., Friday, August 13. Dr. Mel Hardin, Pastor of Sunrise Baptist Church, Kerrville, will officiate. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronnie Webb, Daniel Webb, Steven Jones, Zandy Goode, David Moore, Gregg Goode and Ronnie Goode. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Eldridge, Scotty Zimmerman and Kenneth Perry.
I. B. Webb, Jr., was born to Ishmal Belmont Webb, Sr. and Laura Faye Newsom Webb on December 23, 1929, on the McKnight Ranch, near Claude,  Texas. He was reared–mostly–in Eldorado,  Oklahoma. On February 22, 1946, he was married to Margaret Jane Zimmerman in Denver City,  Texas.

I.B. spent practically all his life "in the Oilpatch". He worked with a "Doodle Bug" (Seismograph) Crew in the early years of his marriage; he and Jane lived in many places, including Hobbs, New Mexico, California (Brea, Fullerton, Pasadena), and Baggs, Wyoming. They lived in Dallas,  Texas, for awhile, where their three sons were born. One of these sons, a twin named Ronnie, died in infancy.

In 1954 the Webbs’ moved to West  Texas, where I.B. began working as a driller in the oil field. In Midland,  Texas, he served as an instructor of "Down Hole Packers" for Lyons, Inc. In Rocksprings, Wyoming, he served as a District Manager for  Johnson Testers. In 1970 he established a trucking company–Webb’s Trucking–in Rocksprings, Wyoming, servicing the oil industry in some 28 states. In 1984–due to a downturn in the oil industry and his personal failing health–I.B. retired and moved from Wyoming to Kerrville,  Texas. He and Jane have made their home in Kerrville ever since.

I.B. became a Christian when he was eleven years of age in Eldorado,  Oklahoma. For most of his adult life he and his wife have been active in Baptist Churches wherever they have lived. He served his church in various capacities. He was an excellent greeter and usher. He was loved very much by the congregation of Sunrise Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane of Kerrville; four sisters, Robbie Curtis of San Diego, California, Gay Bonoldi of Medfield, Massachusetts, Peggy Webb of Chula Vista, California and Kay Webb of Chula Vista, California; two sons, Monty Webb and wife Carol of Sheridan, Wyoming and Terry Webb and wife Vickie of Graham,  Texas; four grandchildren, Heather  Jones and husband Steven of Graham,  Texas, Ronnie Webb and Daniel Webb of Graham,  Texas; one great granddaughter, Kylie Webb of Graham,  Texas; and many inlaws, nephews and nieces.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 290790, Kerrville,  Texas 78029 or to Sunrise Baptist Church Building Fund, 1200 Broadway, Kerrville,  Texas 78028.

Antonia Della Webber

Lois Edna Webber
Born in Wayne County, IL on January 20, 1911

Lois Edna Webber died May 23, 2004 at the age of 93. She was born on January 20, 1911 to Edward and Pearl Staton in Berry Township, Wayne County, Illinois.
Lois married Noel Webber in Fairfield, Illinois in 1928. After several moves, they settled in Odessa,  Texas where they raised their family. In 1961, Lois and Noel moved for business reasons to Wheatridge, Colorado and then in 1979, to their retirement home in Kerrville,  Texas. Lois was a homemaker but had many other interests including drama, creative writing, book reviewing, civic work and church work. Her musical activities including singing with church choir and Fun With Music, playing chimes, piano, organ and violin with the Odessa Symphony. She was a life member of the United Methodist Women and also wrote material for "The Methodist Woman" magazine. Her poetry was a source of joy to family and friends on numerous occasions.

Lois and Noel had been married for 57 years when he died in 1986. She married Nelson Kramer in 1998 and he died in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Moses and husband, Ed Moses of Kerrville,  Texas, their three sons and wives, Jeff and Elizabeth Moses of Midland,  Texas, Steven and Judy Moses of Sumatra, Indonesia, Mike and Lynann Moses of Richardson,  Texas; her daughter, Janilyn McConnell and husband, Merwin McConnell of Kewadin, Michigan and Kerrville,  Texas, their three children and spouses, Cheryl and Clive Gissing of Chinnor, England, Paul and Heather McConnell of Canton, Michigan, and Richard McConnell of Austin,  Texas. Lois is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Michelle Moses, Matthew Moses, Caroline Moses, Riley Moses, Miranda Moses, Joshua Gissing, Christian Gissing, Chad McConnell, and Dillon McConnell. Also surviving is one sister, Alta Fields and husband, Henry Fields of Alturas, California.

A Memorial Service will be at First United Methodist Church, Kerrville,  Texas, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 29, 2004. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio,  Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Library Fund at First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville,  Texas, 78028.

Local arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville,  Texas.

Jim Weimer
Born in Bexar County, TX on May 24, 1932
Departed on November 3, 2003, and resided in Kerrville, TX.

Mr. Jim Weimer, age 71 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, November 3, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born May 24, 1932 in Bexar County, TX to James H. Weimer, Sr. and Etna Mable (Crow) Weimer. On October 10, 1953, he married June Elizabeth Christian in San Antonio, TX.

Jim was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. He was an air craft and engine technician. He was also a member of Kerrville Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, June Weimer of Kerrville; two sons, James Russell Weimer and wife, Clarabelle of Kerrville and Rodger Dale Weimer and wife, Susan of Boerne; seven grandchildren, Paige and Hunter Carter of Boerne, Reed Weimer of Boerne, Troy Weimer of Kerrville, Josh Peek of Comfort, Winter Herd of Kerrville and Rolinda Cathey of Kerrville; and three great grandchildren, Tyler Weimer, and Paige and Alletta Cathey, all of Kerrville.

He was predeceased by son, Randy in 1978.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 5, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Mr. Greg Cummins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sidney Baker Church of Christ Building Fund, 505 Sidney Baker St., Kerrville, TX 78028.

Roger Clay Wheelis

Mr. Roger Clay Wheelis, age 48 of Pipe Creek, passed away Monday, May 12, 2003 at a San Antonio hospital. He was born June 17, 1954 in San Antonio to Billy C. Wheelis and Barbara Nell Reichel Wheelis. Roger served in the U.S. Merchant Marines, had been a surveyor and had worked as a Butcher for many years.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Bartkoviak of Pipe Creek; half brother, Gene Wheelis of Katy; two half brothers, Mike Chuter of Katy and Vince Chuter of Houston and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Wheelis, step-father, Damian "Bart" Bartkoviak and brother, Terry Wayne Wheelis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Elizabeth Cox  White
Born in Corpus Christi, TX on August 17, 1941

Elizabeth Cox  White, age 62 of Pipe Creek, died Saturday, November 22, 2003 in a San Antonio hospital. She was born August 17, 1941 in Corpus Christi, TX to William Bailey Cox and Mary Julia Gravett Cox. On January 8, 1986, she married Raymond  White.

She was a registered X-Ray Technician and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ray  White of Pipe Creek; two daughters, Stephanie Stone of Lake Tahoe, NV and Katherine Royal and husband, Glenn of Katy; two sons, Craig Stone and wife, Kim of San Antonio and Jay  White and wife, Angela of Schertz; one sister, Mary Lee Thompson of Houston; seven grandchildren, Annastacia McDonald, James Royal, Alexa  White, Sarah Royal, Shelby Stone, Austen  White and Morgan Stone.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, from 6-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Grimes. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera with Father Stan Oleksy officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Craig Stone, Jay  White, Christian McDonald, Glenn Royal, James Royal and Richard Thompson.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Bandera.

Deemor E. Whitman

Mr. Deemor E. Whitman, age 90 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003 in a local nursing center. He was born in Oppalousa, LA on December 7, 1912 to Lemual A. Whitman and Susan A. (Reeves) Whitman. He married Mildred G. Gaston, October 17, 1936 in Jasper, TX.

He was preceded in death by Mildred, his wife of 65 years; brothers, Conrad H. Whitman, Olas A. Whitman, O.L. (Babe) Whitman, Ben W. Whitman and L.A. (Mutt) Whitman, and sisters, Lydia Gravelle, Evelyn Primeaux and Nan Floyd.

Mr. Whitman is survived by daughters, Dolores and Robert Edwards of Rockport, TX and Phoebe and Sonny Burns of Kerrville, TX; brother, Ralph W. Whitman of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Mike (Dunia) Edwards, Barbara (Joe) Sanderson, Charles (Lorie) Edwards, Jennifer Edwards, Stuart (Tina) Burns, Corrie Rodgers, Lee Burns; four great grandchildren, Nathan and Shelby Edwards and Jarred and Jessica Burns.

Mr. Whitman was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Independent Order of Odd Fellows for over 50 years, member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1979 and a deacon since 1981. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1936 to 1940. He retired from Texaco Chemical (formerly  Jefferson Chemical). He and his family lived in Nederland, TX from 1944 until his retirement in 1978 when they moved to Kerrville. He loved his garden and one of his greatest pleasures was sharing the produce from his garden. He was a "master" at telling wonderful stories. He befriended everyone and never met a stranger. Many friends became his extended family. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

A visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 2003, from 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Tilden officiating. A Masonic graveside service will follow at Garden of Memories. The Deacons at Trinity Baptist will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of GRIMES FUNERAL CHAPELS of Kerrville.
