Mr. Havelka
Thomas “Tommy” Havelka, 56, of Edinburg died on Thursday, July 27, 2006.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1950, in Corpus Christi to Alice Liska and Jerry Havelka. He worked for Havelka Oilfield Service and was a member of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Posse for several years.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Alice Liska Havelka of San Marcos; three sisters, Carol Ann Havelka, also of San Marcos, Sharon Havelka Boester of Poth and Mary Havelka Martin and husband Chip of St. Louis, Mo.; one son, Ty Havelka of Boerne; two daughters, Roxanne Havelka and Marie Havelka Barnes and husband Justin of Midland.
Visitation was held on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Three Rivers with Father Piotr Gajda officiating. Music was provided by organist Deana Martinez. Burial followed at Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin Barnes, Jordan Liska, Travis Walker, C.P. Laurel, Ty Havelka and Randy Kopplin.

Mrs. May
Funeral services are pending at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home for Fanna Copley May, 82.
She was born on Feb. 29, 1924, in Williamson, W.Va.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Interment will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.

Ms. Mijares
Paula Mijares, 88, of Beeville, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. She was born on Oct. 25, 1917, to Jose and Maria De Jesus (Valdez) Mijares in Seguin.
Mrs. Mijares resided in Beeville the past two years, raised her children in Laredo and also lived in San Antonio for 20 years. She was a housekeeper for numerous years and was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fidencio Gomez; a son, Fidencio Mijares; a sister, Otila Galindo; and two brothers, Jose Mijares Jr. and Felipe Mijares.
Survivors include three daughters, Maria Lucia Tijerina, Abigail (Jesus) Ledesma, all of San Antonio, and Maria O. Perez (Robert Casarez) of Beeville; six grandchildren, Samantha and Sabrina Tijerina, Jose Juarez Jr., Yvonne Juarez, John Juarez and Amanda Marie Perez; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guadalupe Mijares of Richardson and Ismael Mijares of Corpus Christi; and four sisters, Ernestina Trinidad of Seguin and Aurora Martinez, Ruth Botello and Mary Sue Castillo, all of Corpus Christi.
A Rosary was to be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday (today) at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Joseph Vakayil Varghese officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Laredo Catholic Cemetery in Laredo. Pallbearers will be Jose Juarez, John Juarez, Jesus Ledesma and Robert Casarez.

Mr. Galvan
Mr. Juan J. Galvan, Sr., 76, of Beeville,  Texas died on December 30, 2006, in Beeville,  Texas.
He was born on June 24, 1930 in Realitos,  Texas to the late Fernando Galvan, Sr. and Emilia Saenz. He was a retired rigging foreman for H.B. Zachary and Brown & Root. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his son Milton Galvan, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years of marriage Maria G. Galvan of Beeville,  Texas, three sons Juan J. Galvan, Jr. (San Juanita) of Pasadena,  Texas, Roy (Mary Helen) Galvan of Beeville,  Texas, Fernando (Felipita) Galvan of Beeville,  Texas, one daughter Rose Marie (Johnny) Garza of Victoria,  Texas; five brothers; Hector Galvan of Benavides,  Texas, Oscar Galvan of Monte, California, Rudy Galvan of Beeville,  Texas, Adan Galvan of San Diego,  Texas, and Fernando Galvan Jr. of Benavides,  Texas and one sister, Alma Puentes also of Benavides,  Texas; step-mother Julia Galvan of San Diego,  Texas; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Rudy Galvan, Carlos Garza, Timothy Galvan, John Gabriel Galvan, Joey Lopez and Doyle Evans Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Manual Farias, Ernesto Martinez and Rudy Galvan Sr. (Sports Buddy).
A rosary will be recited Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore,  Texas with full military Honors.

Mr. Guerra
Funeral services are pending at Treviño Funeral Home for Victor Guerra, 99, of Beeville. Mr. Guerra died on Sunday, Dec. 31, at his residence.

Mr. Acosta
Alejandro “Cane” Acosta, 70, of Beeville, died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1936, in Three Rivers to Angela Balerio and Leonardo Acosta. He married Esmeralda Casarez in Odem in 1962. He was the owner of the Bee Club and enjoyed boxing, pool, cards and playing his guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo Acosta and Angela Perez; his stepfather, Jacob Perez; and one sister, Penny Perez.
He is survived by his wife, Esmeralda Acosta of Beeville; two sons, Joe Alex Acosta and wife Jessica of Beeville and Alejandro Acosta Jr. of California; two daughters, Sylvia A. Gonzales and husband Benny Jr. and Lisa Ponce and husband Ysidro Rodriguez, both of Beeville; seven grandchildren, Justin and Cody Gonzales, Joshua A. Acosta, Alexus Marie Acosta, Blaine and Jennifer Weaver and Anthony L. Ponce; three sisters, Leonor Rios and husband Augustine of Houston, Evangelina Alaniz of George West, and Socorro Gonzales and husband Ismael of Tilden; and two brothers, Joe Davila and wife Delfina of Oakville and David Acosta and wife Stella of Victoria.
Visitation was to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Saturday) officiated by La Cursillistas of St. James Catholic Church. Special music, “De Colores” and “Un Dia La Vez,” will be provided by singer Fernando Cisneros.

Robert B. Garza Sr., 66, of Beeville, died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007.
He was born on June 7, 1941, in Beeville, to Felicita Bergara Garza and Enrique P. Garza. He worked in automotive body repair for Hardy Motors and Pete Scoggins. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Rose Rodriguez Garza of Beeville; five daughters, JoAnn Mitchell and husband Jim of Maryland, Joethel Joyce, Francine Durham and husband Beau, Melissa Serrata and Andrea Rodriguez, all of Beeville; three sons, Robert Garza Jr. and wife Isabel of Beeville, Shawn Garza of Victoria and Henry Garza of Corpus Christi; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Amada Aguirre and husband Raul and Mima Valdez, both of Beeville; and two brothers, Simeon Garza Sr. and wife Nena and Abel Garza, both of Beeville.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited there at 7 o’clock that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory #2 cemetery . A funeral reception will be held at St. James Hall following the interment.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Garcia, Larry Gonzales, Doug Hardy, Simeon Garza Jr. and Robert Malaer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Moreno and Jesse Contreras.

Funeral services for Jesus Gomez Jr. of Beeville are pending at Trevino Funeral Home. He is the father of Eddie Gomez of Beeville. Mr. Gomez died Friday morning.

Mr. Guzman
Funeral services are pending at Treviño Funeral Home for Wally Guzman. Mr. Guzman, 58, died on Thursday, Oct. 4, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was a correctional officer at  Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Beeville.

Mrs. Kopplin
Delaphine W. Kopplin, 83, of Beeville, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007.
She was born on July 26, 1924, in Westhoff, to Lillie Aschen and Ernest Weber. She graduated from Cuero High School in 1942 and was a 1944 graduate of Baldwin Business College. She married Alfred H. Kopplin Sr. on Feb. 26, 1944 in Pawnee. She worked for 27 years for the Officers Club at NAS Chase Field in Beeville. She liked to be called “Cattle Woman” for her love of cattle and ranching. After her husband passed, she continued ranching on her own. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred H. Kopplin; her parents, Ernest and Lillie Weber; one sister, Erleen Burditt; two granddaughters, Sandra Kopplin and Lauren Juelg; one grandson, Mark Trlica; and one son-in-law, Clifton Trlica Jr.
She is survived by three daughters, Lou Joyce Trlica of Beeville, Dora Wolfe and husband David of Cotulla, and Dellene Blackmore and husband Craig of New Braunfels; three sons, Alfred “Butch” Kopplin Jr. and wife Patricia and Leslie “Buddy” Kopplin, both of Beeville, and Wesley “Bunky” Kopplin and wife Kathy of Sandia; 10 grandchildren, Scott Trlica and wife Emilee, Amy Bishop and husband Earl, Clint Wolfe, Carrie DeArmond and husband Drew, LCpl. Layton Chase Kopplin, Heather Kopplin, Brittnay Kopplin, Stephanie McDevitt and husband Brian, Jackie McLain, SSgt. Jack McLain Jr. and wife Rachel; and nine great-grandchilren, Mark and Kyla Trlica, Cole Bishop, Cassidi and Trace DeArmond, Jordan Hatcher, Katy Bullock and Devon and Alyssa McLain.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Don  Taylor officiating. Organist Pat Coffee played special selections “Amazing Grace,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Scott Trlica, LCpl Layton Chase Kopplin, Warren Kopplin, Randy Kopplin, Rocky Kopplin, and Bert Nesloney.
In memory of Mrs. Kopplin, memorials may be made in her honor to Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund and Cal Farley Boys Ranch.

Mr. Kelly
Clarence Kelly, 92, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.
He born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, to John T. Kelly and Mary McGlynn Kelly on Aug. 18, 1915. Educated at University School and Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., he was an engineering student and all-around athlete who later played football for the Cleveland Rams.
An industrialist providing munitions for America’s war machine during the Korean and the Vietnam Wars, he developed a love for manufacturing and business. Later he became a yacht broker in Puerto Rico. He and his wife retired in Berclair in 1973 where they became accomplished ranchers.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joey Kelly.
Memorial services will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad on Sunday at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Goliad County Library, Pet Adoption, Goliad Fire Department or donors’ choice will be appreciated.
Arrangements were entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad.

Pipkin
Mary Alice Hinderman Pipkin, 86, died March 9, 2002, in Glendale,  Calif.
She was born in Beeville on Dec. 17, 1916, the first child of Lovest and Ida (Thompson) Hinderman.
While in her 20s, Mrs. Pipkin moved to Los Angeles,  Calif. She resided and worked there until she moved to Glendale,  Calif., a few years ago where she enjoyed the care of her niece, Yolanda McLeod Hall, and her niece’s husband, Bob Hall. Mrs. Pipkin’s niece, Kimberli McLeod Rivers, and her family were also a special part of her life, as was her nephew, Kenneth Dean Hinderman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Lovest, Calvin and Harold, and a sister, Beatrice.
Mrs. Pipkin is survived by her son and his wife, Sylviaus and June Pipkin of Los Angeles; her sisters, Nellie Jane McLeod of Dale City, Va., Gayola Adams of Chicago, Ill., and Ida Lytle of Alice; a granddaughter, Shema Pipkin of Los Angeles; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and other friends.
She will be interred at St. Rose Cemetery in Beeville.
