Powers
Priscilla Garza Powers, 32, of George West died Friday, March 29, 2002.
Rosary was recited Wednesday at St. George Catholic Church in George West. The funeral Mass was celebrated at that same location Thursday, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial followed in the Clegg Cemetery in Clegg.
Mrs. Powers was born May 10, 1969, to Jose Macario and Paula (Trejo) Garza. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a Catholic.
She is survived by her husband, David Powers of San Antonio; a daughter, Felicia Jo Powers of San Antonio; and a sister, Laura (Jaime) Ortiz of Corpus Christi.

Alejandro
Sebastian Alejandro, 72, of Pettus died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002.
He was born in Karnes City on May 20, 1930, to Claudio and Margarita (Carranza) Alejandro. He was a retired oilfield worker and a Catholic.
Mr. Alejandro is survived by his former wife, Linda Alejandro of Pettus; his daughters, Janie Richie, Julia Alvarez and Margaret (Joseph) Guajardo, all of San Antonio, and Sandra Garza (Reynaldo Rios) and Melissa (James) Dunn, both of Pettus; his son, Claudio (Leticia) Alejandro of Dallas; his sisters, Carmen Casanova and Susie Serenil, both of Karnes City, and Dell Rodriguez of Houston; his brother, Alex Alejandro of Dallas; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Aurora Galvan, and his brother, Francisco Alejandro.
Rosary was to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pettus with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial will follow in Pettus Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Garza, Daniel Ochoa, Juan Jose Alejandro, Claudio Antonio Alejandro, David Calderon, Joseph Guajardo and James Dylon Dunn.

Beasley
Robert J. Beasley, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held today (Saturday) at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Beeville with the Rev. Mark Spence officiating.
Mr. Beasley was born in Beeville on Jan. 26, 1913, to Robert Beasley Sr. and Floy Latta Beasley. He attended the University of  Texas and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired architect and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Beasley was one of the founding fathers of Coastal Bend College. He served on its board of trustees from its inception in 1965 until this year. He dedicated many hours to the beautification and landscaping of the campus. He also served the Boy Scouts of America and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Order of the Arrow awards. Silver Beaver is the highest award an adult involved with Boy Scouts can receive. He was also a Rotarian.
Mr. Beasley is survived by his nieces, Latta Ruhmann Stephenson of Victoria and Nancy Ruhmann Anderson of Ingleside; and his great-nieces and nephews, Virgil Anderson Jr. of Austin, James Robert Anderson of Benbrook, Margaret Stephenson-Klecka of Dallas, Matthew Stephenson of Houston and Amanda Stephenson of Kingwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Robert J. Beasley Scholarship Fund at Coastal Bend College.

Hensley
Helen M. Hensley, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002.
Graveside services were to take place Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Leo Oliver officiating. Pallbearers were Wesley Hensley, Kevin Hennig, Kim Hennig, Bradley Hennig, John Hensley Jr. and George Mixson.
Mrs. Hensley was born in Boyceland, La., on March 31, 1912, to William Thomas and Nina (Grey) Coker. She was married to Briggs Hensley and was the secretary at the South  Texas Children’s Home. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Mrs. Hensley is survived by one son, Tommy Hensley of Beeville; one daughter, Jo Ann Michen of Mathis; 12 grandchildren, Kim Terry, Kevin, Bradley and Shannon Hennig, John Jr., Wesley and Kayce Hensley, Jana Hensley Corkill, Cindi Hensley Manuel, Robin Hensley Thomas and Missy Browing; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Hensley, and two sisters, Constance Evans of Saline, La., and Irene Ware of Minden, La.

Lara
Lazaro David Lara, 20, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. A second visitation will be held today (Saturday) at the same location from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial will follow in San Fernando de Flores Cemetery in Goliad.
Mr. Lara was born on Feb. 15, 1982, to Lazaro and Rosa (Rodriguez) Lara. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 2000 and attended Coastal Bend College for two years. He was a student and a member of OLV.
He is survived by his wife, Shantelle Landsaw Lara of Beeville; his parents, Lazaro and Rosa R. Lara of Beeville; a brother, Augustine Lara and wife Anna of Corpus Christi; two sisters, San Juanita Lara Salinas and husband Ricardo and Alma Lara Nicholson and husband Graeme, all of Beeville; two nephews, Gregory Nicholson and Ricardo Saul Salinas Jr.; two nieces, Krysten and Roxie Lara; his in-laws, Jim and Jodie Landsaw of Beeville; and his wife’s family, Jimmy, Henry, Kim, Michelle, Chyanne, Beouynce and Mekaylynn Landsaw, all of Beeville.

Tanner
Napoleon Bonaparte “N.B” Tanner Jr., 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002. Visitation was held Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were scheduled to take place Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Flowers officiating. Special music included “Sunrise Tomorrow,” with organist Everett McAulay and soloist Dave Blanton.
Burial was to follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Filla, Neal Floerke, Tony Floerke, Tommy Wroten, Blaine Luthringer and James Blackburn. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department, the deacons of the First Baptist Church, the members of the Beeville Kiwanis Club, Dan Humble, Bill Morrow, Ed Diebel and Leon Wright.
Mr. Tanner was born on Nov. 12, 1914, in Bastrop County to Napoleon Bonaparte Tanner Sr. and Lillie Bell (Robinson) Tanner. He was married to Mahala Tanner for 62 years and resided in Beeville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Tanner was president of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department for more than 32 years and active in the department for more than 50 years. He was active in the Kiwanis Club for more than 45 years. He was involved in education for more than 26 years as a principal and teacher and was registrar of Coastal Bend College. Mr. Tanner was a deacon of the First Baptist Church for 55 years. He also served as church treasurer for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mahala Tanner of Beeville; three sons, Bonn Tanner of Humble, Jimmy (Dawn) Tanner of Yukon, Okla., and George (Daryl) Tanner of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Patti Tanner Betts (Howard) of Calumet, Okla., Clete Tanner of South Lake Tahoe,  Calif., Benjamin Tanner of  Washington, D.C., and Kathleen Tanner of Davidson, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Tanner, Sheridan and Madeline Betts, all of Calumet, Okla.; and two sisters, Laverne Wesson of Corpus Christi and Leola Garrett of Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South  Texas Children’s Home or the special account at the First Baptist Church for the replacement of the air conditioning system.

Merriman
Dianna Kenny Merriman, 56, died on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at her residence in Sugar Land.
She was born on Feb. 21, 1946, and graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1963. She attended  Texas Woman’s University and Southwest  Texas State University where she received her master’s degree in education. After graduation she followed in her father’s footsteps and joined the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of captain before leaving to pursue a career in teaching. Her many years in teaching led her to Fort Bend Baptist Academy in Sugar Land, where she worked as the assistant principal.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Adine Kenny Sutherland, and her father, Capt. Larry Kenny.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Merriman; her stepfather, Bill Sutherland; her children, Michael and wife Kyung Wootton, Dane and wife Kristi Merriman, and Taite and wife Melissa Merriman; her grandchildren, Emily Wootton and Scyler and Tristan Merriman; extended family and many friends.
Funeral ceremonies were to be held at First Baptist Church in Sugar Land on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held today (Saturday) in Beeville at Glenwood Cemetery at 1 p.m., where Mrs. Merriman will be buried beside her parents.

Vasquez
Margarita Luisa Garcia Vasquez, 85, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in Victoria.
She was born on March 3, 1917, in Beeville to Yndalecio and Librada (Garza) Garcia. She was a retired insurance agent for Woodmen of the World and a homemaker. She was a past member of the Guadalupanas of Beeville and Victoria.
Visitation was to be held Friday at 5 p.m. at Artero Memorial Chapels in Victoria. Rosary was to be recited that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with Father Ireneusz Ekiert officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Mrs. Vasquez was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel E. Vasquez; two sisters, Adela and Eloisa Garza; three brothers, Lorenzo, Vicente and Prudencio Garcia; and her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Yolanda Vasquez, Esmeralda V. Gutierrez and Vera V. Martinez, all of Victoria; three sons, Alfredo G. and Manuel G. Vasquez, both of Victoria, and Ruben C. Vasquez of Round Rock; three brothers, Antonio and Adolfo Garcia, both of Beeville, and David Garcia of Victoria; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements were handled through Artero Memorial Chapels, Victoria.

Myers
Clarence Alva Myers, 88, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services took place that day at 1 p.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Ron Wellborn officiating. Special music included “In the Sweet By and By” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery in Yoakum.
Pallbearers were Marc, Joey, Tommy and Douglas Myers, Gilbert Key Jr. and Sam Kruse. Honorary pallbearers were Hugh Myers, Lon and Loncito Cartwright, Paul Heard, Jerry Daniels, Wayne Myers, Bill Alkek and Glenn Krueger.
Mr. Myers was born on June 29, 1914, in Stratton, Dewitt County, to Samuel Alva and Nan Evelyn (Cook) Myers. He married Celia Rosalie Key on June 3, 1937, in Wharton. He resided in Beeville and was a retired rancher. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cuero. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Celia Rosalie Myers of Beeville; two sons, Jack Earl Myers of Beeville and Samuel Alva Myers of Austin; a daughter, Nan Myers Thomey of Seabrook; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Charles E. “Buck” Myers of Cuero.

Rice
Bobby Joe Rice Jr., 34, died on May 2, 2003. He was born in Seguin, TX on May 2, 1969.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Bozman Carlson. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending quality time with his wife and B.J. He enjoyed going to the lake and being outside. He liked water skiing, snow skiing, shooting target practice and just being with the people he loved. Bobby was the owner of Rice Plumbing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tonja Mae Rice, his son, Bobby Joe Rice III, both of Beeville, TX; his father, Bobby Joe Rice Sr. of Pettus, TX; 2 brothers, Zion Kole (Ashli) Carlson and Brian Paul Carlson, both of Beeville, TX; 3 sisters, Mary (Keith) Elizabeth Markley of Beeville, TX; and two very spcial persons in his life, Mr. David Paul Carlson who raised Bobby and Bobby’s best friend, Dr. Robert William Garcia, M.D.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery with Mr. C. R. Pendley officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers were Zion Carlson, Eddie Davidson, Robert Garcia, Matthew Henry, David Gonzales and Howard Pendley.

Capeheart
Sharon Ann Bledsoe Capeheart, 57, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Gilbert Franke officiating. Special music included “The Old Rugged Cross,” “How Great Thou Art,” “My Partner” and “Judgment Day.” Burial followed in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Erasmo Rodriguez, Melisio Garcia, Marty Bludau, Johnny McCrary, Arlis Young, Martin Saldivar, Carroll Schubert and Mike Barton. Honorary pallbearers were Honey Boy “Buck” Delano and Bill Rogers.
Mrs. Capeheart was born in San Antonio on Jan. 25, 1946, to Charles Bert and Alice Emily (Seiler) Bledsoe. She married Robert Capeheart in Beeville on Nov. 23, 2002. She was a retired payroll coordinator for the Beeville Independent School District and a member of South  Texas Trail Riders.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bledsoe, and her first husband, Allan Amerson.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Capeheart of Beeville; a daughter, Anna Marin and husband Joe of Corpus Christi; a son, Edward Capeheart of Driscoll; her mother, Alice Bledsoe of Beeville; and a granddaughter, Rianna Marin of Corpus Christi.
