Mr. Gibson
Robert “Bob” Gibson, 60, died on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006. He was a Beeville resident and employee of the TDCJ Garza East Unit.
Mr. Gibson was born on April 15, 1945, in Pueblo,  Colo., to the late Ruth Rodarmel and James C. Gibson. He married Rae Caperton Gibson in Bossier City, La.., on March 15, 1985.
He was a Vietnam veteran, retired from the Air Force and a member of VFW Post 9170 in Beeville.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 3-9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A service was held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain John Snyder and Commander Frank Gonzales Jr. officiating. Active pallbearers were members of VFW Post 9170.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Rae Gibson of Bossier City, La.; sons, Jerry Willoughby of Virginia Beach, Va., and Sean Conner (Krista) of Covington, La.; daughters, Robin Hagler (Dennis) of Bossier City, La., and Lisa Clary (Mike) of Bossier City, La.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Wesley Gibson of Beeville and James Gibson of Nebraska; and sister-in-law, Nancy Caperton of Shreveport, La.

Mrs. Hinojosa
Diana Hinojosa, 41, died on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, in a Corpus Christi hospital following a long illness. She was a longtime resident of St. Paul and a loving wife and mother. She was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Joel Morales, Jr.; son, Mario Morales; daughter, Christina De Leon, all of St. Paul; and two sisters, Lydia Alaniz and Gloria Hinojosa of Beeville.
A rosary will be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton. Interment will follow in John J. Welder Memorial Cemetery in St. Paul.
Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. McMullen
The Rev. Lawrence Roy McMullen, 99, died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at his home. He was a Beeville resident and a retired minister. He was a member of the Trinity Christian Center.
Mr. McMullen was born on Nov. 8, 1906, in Farmington, Ill., to the late Cecil Maude Martin and LeeRoy McMullen. He married Patricia Deane Tomlinson on June 9, 1967, in Houston.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Trinity Christian Center. A funeral service was held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Gary  Johnson officiating, assisted by the Revs. David Parkman, Wayne Moss, John Norvell, Bob Tomlinson, Bill Stockton, Jonathan Rhodes and Worden McDonald. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Les Henry, Fred Kneten, David Carlson, Wiley Milner, Don Harrison and Dan Winters. Honorary pallbearers included Dr. Grady Hogue, Dr. Michael Belew and H.W. “Buzz” Ellsworth.
Special music included flutist Lisa Gonzales and songs “When the Roll is Called up Yonder,” “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “How Great Thou Art” and special songs by the Tomlinson brothers.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Lee McMullen, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Deane McMullen of Beeville; daughter, Darlene Worden of Kansas City, Mo.; stepsons, Rev. Richard C. Tomlinson (Ann) of Evansville, Ind., Rev. Michael D. Tomlinson (Carolyn) of Warsaw Ind., and Rev. Robert A. Tomlinson (Becky) of Aransas Pass; stepdaughter, Cheryl F. Tomlinson-Shuffler (Daniel) of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred McMullen (Mary) of Independence, Mo., Merrill McMullen (Barbara) of Tucson, Ariz., and Delbert McMullen (Betty) of Independence, Mo.; sister, Relia Layland of Paola, Kan.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Memorial gifts may be made to L.R. McMullen Memorial Fund, For the Messenger College Library, P.O. Box 4050, Joplin, Mo. 64803-4050.

Mrs. Parker
Betty Portis Parker, 75, died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at her home near Seguin. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Mrs. Parker was born in Beeville on Nov. 16, 1930, to the late Lois Evelyn (Archer) and A.A. “Andy” Portis . She was married to Scott Monroe Parker Sr. on April 20, 1946.
A private family graveside service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at 3 p.m. at the Kenedy Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra June Parker; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Parker; a brother, Jerry Portis; and a sister, Doris Duran.
Survivors include her husband, Scott M. Parker of Seguin; a son, Scott Monroe Parker Jr. of Austin; daughters, Vicki Lynn Gray and husband Perry Gray of Berclair; and grandchildren, Scott Monroe Parker III and Christopher Scott Parker.
Memorial contributions are of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements were by Finch Funeral Home of Nixon.

Mrs. Powell
Donna J. Powell, 52, died on Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, in Victoria. She was a Goliad resident and an employee of Goliad ISD for many years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Goliad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rubie Ellen Powell and William Damon Sr.; and brothers, William Damon Jr. and John David Powell.
Survivors include her sister, Patricia Diane Prentice of Upper Marlboro, Md.; brothers, Dennis E. Powell of San Antonio, Donald T. Powell of Austin and Douglas E. Powell of Metairie, La.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that persons donate to the Student Council Scholarship Fund being set up in Donna Powell’s name at Goliad ISD, P.O. Box 830, Goliad, TX 77963.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, Goliad.

Mr. Chamberlain
Bland G. Chamberlain, 90, of Beeville, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, in Victoria.
Mr. Chamberlain was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Harlingen to Bland Chamberlain Sr. and Constancia Garcia. He was a retired painter working in civil service. He was a Catholic and a 30-year member of the Cursillistas. He also served on the St. James Catholic Church parish council.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Treviño Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Jerry Rapp Jr., Michael Chamberlain, Alex Chamberlain Jr., Ysidro Chamberlain Jr., Freddy Chamberlain Jr. and Augustine Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Chamberlain Jr. and Johnny Chamberlain.
Mr. Chamberlain is survived by his wife, Josefa Perez Chamberlain of Beeville; four daughters, Mary Helen (Jerry) Rapp of Alaska, Grace (Bobby) Gallardo of Victoria, Rachel (Victor) Espinoza and Juanita (Frank) Gonzalez, both of Dallas; five sons, Lucio (Martha) Chamberlain of Corpus Christi, Alex (Rosie) Chamberlain of Victoria, Robert (Rosa) Chamberlain of Kyle, Jose Alfredo (Angie) Chamberlain of Beeville and Isidro (Rachel) Chamberlain of San Antonio; one sister, Maggie Chapa of Harlingen; 37 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchilden.
Mr. Chamberlain is preceded in death by one son, Joe Bland Chamberlain, and one grandson, Martin Chamberlain.

Mrs. Gamel
Edna Rechenthin Gamel, 64, of Skidmore, died Monday, March 6, 2006, in Beeville. She was homemaker who loved to garden, sew, crochet and cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Luetta Rechenthin.
Mrs. Gamel is survived by her six children, Carl Gamel II (Debra) of Houston, Debra  Taylor (David) and Tammy Doubrava (Blayne) of Beeville, David Gamel (Lari) of New Hampshire, Jason Gamel (Loretta) and Ben Gamel of Papalote; 10 grandchildren, Shane Land, Emily Garza, Jonathan Turner, Sheelah and Cortney Taylor, Amber and Ashley Gamel, Charlene Doubrava, David II and Nikita Gamel; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Darlene Shaw of Crawford, Mary Kay Maddox of China Spring and Cindy Moore of Bellmead; and one brother, Bruce Rechenthin of Whitney.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Beeville.
Funeral arrangements were by Premier Cremation & Funeral Care, Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Hernandez
Martina Hernandez, 75, of Pettus, died Friday, March 3, 2006.
She was born in Beeville on Nov. 9, 1930. She married Ismael Mike Hernandez Sr. in 1948. Mrs. Hernandez was a cook for the Pettus Independent School District and had worked as a certified nurse’s aid at several nursing homes in the Beeville area. She was a Pentecostal.
Visitation was held Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held Sunday at Monte Del Olivar Christian Church with the Rev. Jesse DeLaGarza officiating. Burial followed at the Pettus Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Hernandez Jr., Michael Fuentes, Delfino Herrera, Amador Chapa, Joe Herrera, Martin Galan, Anthony Acosta and Bruce Ebeben.
Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her husband, Mike Hernandez Sr. of Pettus; one son, Mike Hernandez Jr. of Pettus; two daughters, Alejandra Fuentes of Beeville and Amy Hernandez of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Michelle, Michella, Angie, Michael and Blanca; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Christelia Vidalis of San Antonio and Cuca Gaitan of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Aurelia Garcia, and a brother, Christobal Pena.

Mr. Holland
Eugene “Gene” Holland, 81, of Beeville, died Saturday, March 4, 2006.
Mr. Holland was born March 16, 1924, in Clegg to Delonia Holland and Emma Mae Birkett-Holland. He graduated from high school and served in the Army during World War II. He married Teresa Wojtasczyk on Sept. 12, 1970, in Beeville.
Mr. Holland retired from Beeville Farm Supply after 34 years. He was a life member of the Bee County American Legion Post No. 274 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9170. He served on numerous community service boards.
Visitation was held Sunday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. at Beeville Memorial Park with Ray Waugh officiating.
Pallbearers were Wally Herrera, Eloy DeLeon, Pete Pena, Randy Smith, Doug Thorp, Rob Brown, Frank Gonzales and Roy Blevins.
Mr. Holland is survived by his wife, Teresa Ann of Beeville; two sons, Doug (Angie Trevino) Holland and Lanny Gene (Barbara) Holland, both of Beeville; five daughters, Lisa (Robert) Brown of Mansfield, Shirley Richardson (Randy Smith) of George West, Sue (Doug) Thorp of Florence, Linda (Brad) Goetsch of Fallon, Nev., and Dorothy Mae Holland-Nelson of Beeville; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, James (JE) and wife Louise Holland of Beeville, two sisters, Ethel (Wyatt) Rouse of Alvin and Bennie Hedrick of Gonzales.
Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Hughes
Brian Keith Hughes, 31, of Valley Center, Kan., died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in Rapid City, S.D., due to an accident.
Visitation was held from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, S.D.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor guard followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established.
Hughes was born May 23, 1974, at Sturgis, S.D., to Fritz and Verla (Pickerd) Hughes. He was raised on a ranch south of Plainview until 1978. The family moved to Hot Springs, S.D., where he lived until 1981. They returned to Sturgis and he graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1992.
He joined the United States Army and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1995. He returned to the Black Hills where he was employed by Tri mac Trucking Company.
He married Patricia Lynn Gomez at Beeville on April 22, 2000. They moved to Kansas in 2001 where he was employed as a diesel mechanic.
Survivors include his daughter, Nicole Marie Hughes of Valley Center, Kan.; parents, Fritz and Verla Hughes of Nisland, S.D.; in-laws, Joe and Rosalinda Gomez of Beeville; four brothers, Tim Hughes, Sturgis, Tom Hughes and his wife Katrina of St. Onge, S.D., John Hughes and his wife Shauna of Rapid City, S.D., Marty Hughes and his wife Heather of Black Hawk, S.D.; two sisters, Melodie Petersen and her husband Robert of Rochester, Wash., Doreen Hughes of Black Hawk, S.D.; maternal grandparents, Fletta Hatheway of Watertown, Wis., Orville and Mary Pickerd of Sundance, Wyo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lynn, grandfather, John Hughes, and grandmother, Rachel Kaplan.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
