Soliz
Leonor Diaz Soliz, 86, died Sunday, June 2, 2002. She was a resident of San Antonio and a former resident of Beeville and Alice.
Rosary was recited Monday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers were David Flores, Luis Soliz Jr., Rick, Johnny, Pete and Lee Soliz.
Mrs. Soliz was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Runge to Luis and Constancia (Elizalde) Diaz. She was a housewife and a Catholic
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Julian R. Soliz and Raul Tellez; and two daughters, Irene and Maria Elena Soliz.
She is survived by her daughter, Eva S. (Adan) Flores of San Antonio; five sons, Raynaldo (Estella) Soliz, Julian (Graciela) Soliz Jr., Jose Angel “Chanque” (Berta) Soliz and Oscar (Ruby) Soliz, all of Houston, and Luis (Rosie) Soliz of San Antonio; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Barcenas
Antonia Amador Barcenas, 52, of Beeville died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002.
She was born in Lamesa on Oct. 21, 1949, to Rafaela Rodriguez and Valentin Amador Sr. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Barcenas is survived by her husband, Gumecindo Barcenas Sr. of Beeville; a daughter, Rafaela Barcenas of Beeville; a son, Gumecindo (Maranda) Barcenas Jr. of Beeville; two sisters, Anita (David) Rodriguez and San Juana Amador, both of Beeville; two half sisters, Ursula Guajardo of Beeville and Otilia (Jose) Tijerina of Plainview; a brother, Miguel Amador of Beeville; three half brothers, Valentin (Isabela) Amador of Beeville, Santos (Lupe) Amador of Austin and Pedro Amador of Victoria; two grandchildren, Jasmine and Jaelene Barcenas; and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday (today) at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Lee Rodriguez, Johnny Lee Amador, Paul Anthony Amador, Juan Del Torres III, Miguel Amador Jr. and Valentine Amador III. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Rodriguez and David S. Rodriguez.

Curbo
Yvonne (Clevie) Roberts Curbo, 74, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, in Tyler.
Visitation will be held this evening (Wednesday) from 5 to 9 o’clock at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bruce Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Teal Adkins, Bunky “G.R.” Phillips, Clint Cowart, John Claude Breidenbach, Joe Hoffman, John Hensley Jr., Lawrence Fennell and Bill Chesnutt. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Tom Stark, Buddy Hardy, Terry Hennig, Norman Damareau, Dr. Peter Morgan, Gene Herrmann, Everett McAulay, Earl Scott and many caring friends.
Mrs. Curbo was born on April 28, 1928, in Corsicana to John Lemuel and Marthe Alice “Suzette” (Meylan) Roberts. She graduated from Southwest  Texas State University in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She married Jeff B. Curbo on Aug. 2, 1948, in Weslaco.
Mrs. Curbo coached and taught school for most of her 30-year career in Beeville until her retirement. She was a resident of Beeville and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an officer for the Women of the Church Circle and was also a member of the church’s handbell choir. She also belonged to Beta Sigma Phi and the Sallie Evans Sorority. She was selected as an all-school favorite Gallardian and was also chosen “most beautiful.” She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, John Gilbert Roberts; a son, Michael Wayne Curbo; and her husband, Jeff B. Curbo.
She is survived by her sister, Marcelle “Fifi” Roberts of Houston; a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Ray LeGrande of San Antonio; a daughter, Patricia Hennig of Beeville; a son, John Matthew Curbo and wife Melody of Tyler; seven grandchildren, John Michael, Jefferey, Joshua, Hayleigh, Holly, Hillary and Christian; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Memorial donations may be made to First Presbytieran Church, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Gentry
Almeda McKinney Gentry, 90, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Regent Care Nursing Home in San Antonio.
Visitation was held Monday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Beeville. Funeral services were held that day at 4 p.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Gordon Talk officiating. Special music included “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “The Lord’s Prayer” with organist Lucille Kinkler and soloist Ray Barefield.
Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott Storment, Kirk Green, Nick Favaro, Ellis McKinney, Aldo Morin and Jim Gentry. Honorary pallbearer was Jesse McKinney.
Mrs. Gentry was born on July 29, 1912, in Beeville to Jesse J. and M. Maggie (Ray) McKinney. She grew up and retired in Beeville. She lived and worked in Corpus Christi for several years. She was retired from  Taylor Brothers Jewelers in Corpus Christi. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by three brothers, Freeman, Edwin and Harold McKinney, and one sister, Margaret McKinney.
Survivors include four nieces, Marilyn Storment and husband Doug of San Antonio, Aleene Green and husband Lindsey of Pettus, Elaine McKinney of Goodrich and Linda McKinney of Beeville; two nephews, Jesse McKinney and Ellis Ray McKinney and wife Sarah, all of Beeville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rusty Vaughan of San Antonio; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Those who wish may make donations to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Martinez
Minerva G. Martinez, 68, of Beeville died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.
She was born March 21, 1934, in Beeville. She married Arturo Martinez on May 31, 1959, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She attended Our Lady of Victory School, was a member of OLV Church, St. Ann’s Society, Woodmen of the World and was a volunteer at Highland Nursing Home in San Antonio.
She was a mother, homemaker and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Martinez Sr.; her mother, Severa Suniga; and foster mother, Santiaga Suniga.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana (Leo) Cantu ; a son, Arturo “Artie” (Susana) Martinez Jr.; a cousin, Pauline Suniga; a sister, Adelfa Gonzales, all of Beeville; a brother, Trinidad Galvez Jr. of Houston; nine grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Cantu, Lori Lynn Cantu, Leonardo Cantu Jr., Leticia Danielle Cantu, Diana Lee Cantu, Crystal Nicole Marie Cantu, Lynda Suselle Cantu, Arturo Martinez III and Marcella Martinez, all of Beeville; and one great-grandchild, Charmisa Arianna Gonzales of Beeville.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Church with the Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in OLV Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Ruben, Israel, David and Enoe Garcia, Lazaro Suniga Jr. and Conrado Garcia Jr. Honorary pallbearers were all the grandchildren.

Moreno
Eva Loya Moreno, 56, of Beeville died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002.
She was born Aug. 2, 1946, in Beeville to Refugia Sanchez and Candelario Loya. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mario Moreno, and two brothers, Tomas and Candelario Loya Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Moreno Sr. of Beeville; a daughter, Eva Marie Limonez of Beeville; five sons, Joe Moreno Sr. of Victoria, James Moreno of George West and David, Gary Lee and Jesse Moreno Jr., all of Beeville; two sisters, Amelia Gaitan of Kenner, La., and Lillie Beltran of Houston; two brothers, Arturo Loya of Refugio and Danny Loya of Beeville; and 17 grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory Church with the Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating.

Reagan
Bob Reagan, 89, of Three Rivers died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 1 to 5 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel in Three Rivers. Graveside services will follow at 6 p.m. at Oakville Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Duke officiating.
Pallbearers will be Thad Moore, Mark Bledsoe, Scotty Bledsoe, Richard Moore, Wesley Reagan, Rocky Reagan III, Jack Seals Jr. and Pat Seals. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Naylor, Sam Huff, Buford Dugger, Willie Esse, Woodrow Whitmire, Roscoe Turner, Ysabel Gonzales, Mike Capron, Nolan Ryan, Reid Ryan and Reese Ryan.
Mr. Reagan was born on June 24, 1913, in Oakville to L.A. “Rocky” Reagan Sr. and Eula Louise (Cleveland) Reagan. He married Ann Storm on Dec. 6, 1939, in Premont and resided in Three Rivers, where he was a lifelong rancher and a member of the Methodist church. He was a former Live Oak County sheriff.
His wife preceded him in death on April 19, 1990. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Bess, and one grandson, Rocky Lee Reagan.
Survivors include his son, Rocky Reagan of Marble Falls; four grandchildren, Paul Bob Reagan of Valencia,  Calif., Lee Ann Barker and Nikki Martinez, both of Oakville, and Ned Thayer of Marble Falls; seven great-grandchildren, Trent, Maylee, Robert and Amber Martinez and Oren, Wade and Kelley Barker; and three sisters, Lucy Moore and Marjorie Bledsoe, both of Oakville, and Evelyn Seals of Beeville.

Rodriguez
Victor S. Rodriguez Sr., 77, of Beeville died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002.
He was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Tuleta to Augustina Salazar and Apolonio Rodriguez. He was a retired radio and television technician employed by Sears & Roebuck Co. for 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Name Society and a Boy Scout master.
He married Elodia Treviño on July 19, 1942, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Rosie A. Rodriguez, and two sons, Victor T. Rodriguez Jr. and David T. Rodriguez.
He is survived by his wife, Elodia Treviño Rodriguez of Beeville; six daughters, Rachel A. Rodriguez, Susie R. (Manuel) Maldonado, Rosie A. (Johnny) Sauceda, Nora R. (David) Garcia, Rebecca (Sammy) Salazar and Carol R. (Rudy) Flores, all of Beeville; a son, Roland T. (Norma) Rodriguez of Beeville; a daughter-in-law, Irma Rodriguez of Beeville; a brother, Cruz S. Rodriguez of Corpus Christi; a half brother, Epifanio Arrisola of Corpus Christi; 26 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Church with Father Phillip Wadakekalam officiating. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Victor R. Maldonado, Rudy M. Flores III, Jerry Rodriguez, David O. Rodriguez, Roland Rodriguez Jr. and Marty Garza Jr.

Suniga
Genaro S. “GA” Suniga, 82, of Beeville died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at 5:14 p.m.
He was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Beeville. He was a retired house painter and member of St. James Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Suarez Suniga of Beeville; two sisters, Maria Dolores (Rodolfo) Montez of San Antonio and Irene (Edmundo) Hernandez of Beeville; one niece, Estella (Ruben) Baltazar of Beeville; a brother, David G. (Mary Helen) Suniga of Beeville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Amanda S. Garcia.

Benderman
David Dayton Benderman Sr., 63, died Monday, March 8, 2004, at his home in Beeville after a long illness.
He was born in Dearborn, Mich., on Aug. 18, 1940, to Clovis and Charlotte Benderman. He had lived in Beeville for the last few years and was a retired office supply salesman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Benderman of Beeville; three sons, Dwight (Kim) Campbell of Little Rock, Ark., David Dayton Benderman Jr. and Dan Christopher, both of Beaverton, Ore.; a sister, Judy (John) Fargos of Dublin, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Private interment will follow at a later date.
Arrangements were handled through Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., Aransas Pass.
