Garcia
Arthur C. Garcia, 64, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Joe Salinas, Adolfo Guerrero, Alex Delgado, Frank Culver and Joe and Dan Cuellar.
Mr. Garcia was born in Beeville on Dec. 28, 1937, to Jose Guadalupe and Concha (Cuellar) Garcia. He was a retired correctional officer and had been employed by the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 21 years. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1959. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Esther Carrasco, and his parents.
He is survived by his companion, Eva Garcia Gonzales of Corpus Christi; his daughter, Rosie Doyle of Corpus Christi; three sons, Robert Arthur “Bobby” Garcia, Reynaldo (Silvia) Garcia and Don Iles, all of Houston; two sisters, Janie Patino of Pettus and Lucilla Garcia of Beeville; three grandchildren, Reynaldo “Buddy” Garcia of Mathis, David Ray Garcia of Houston and Brittney Rae Doyle of Corpus Christi; and several nieces and nephews.

Kitchen
Bernice S. McKinney Kitchen, 95, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Dallas.
She was born on June 16, 1907, in Channing to John Harris and Audie Bell (Hudnall) McKinney. She married Carr Pool Kitchen on Feb. 6, 1931, in Mercedes. She had resided in Beeville for 10 years before moving to Dallas, where she lived for 20 years. She was employed with the U.S. Army chemical corps, where she was in charge of personnel training. She was a member of the Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carr Pool Kitchen.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia K. Canfield and husband Charles of Dallas; two granddaughters, Cindy Canfield Straton and husband Jack of Memphis, Tenn., and Cammy Canfield Dickenson and husband Mark of Dallas; six great-grandchildren, Charles, John and Melanie Dickenson of Dallas and John, Rebekah and Susannah Straton of Memphis; two sisters, Audie McKinney Weller of Falls Church, Va., and Bettie McKinney Leonard Warden of Scottsdale, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at the graveside in Beeville Memorial Park at 3 p.m. today (Saturday) with the Rev. Gregg Traylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South  Texas Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1210, Beeville,  Texas 78104, or to the Alzheimer’s Society, 7610 Stemmons, Dallas,  Texas 75247, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Adams
The Rev. Lee Marriner Adams, 77, rector emeritus of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church died Saturday, April 3, 2004.
Born in San Antonio on Feb. 28, 1927, Rev. Adams was a graduate of  Jefferson High School, the University of  Texas, and Virginia Theological Seminary. He served at All Saints Episcopal Church in Galena Park from 1975 to 1982 and at St. Timothy’s until his retirement in 1989.
Rev. Adams was the rector at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church from 1959 to 1962, and had many friends in Beeville. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and four daughters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church building fund, the Gideon Bible Society, or St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.

Freasier
Iris Ruth Freasier, 70, of George West, died Monday, April 5, 2004, in George West.
Visitation is scheduled for this evening (Wednesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Galloway and Sons chapel in George West. The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Cadiz Baptist Church in the Cadiz Community, with the Revs. J.W. Stevens and R.C. Jeanes officiating. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Everett Hubbard, Wray Wilkinson, Kenneth Wilkinson, Larry Lee, Roy Wilson and Lee Roy Wilson. Honorary pallbearer will be Waymon Burrell.
Mrs. Freasier was born March 14, 1934, to James Riley and Lela Louise (Long) Cooper in San Antonio. She married Kenneth Freasier in Beeville on Jan. 20, 1973. She was employed with the George West Independent School District as a cafeteria worker and was a member of the Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Freasier of George West; three sons, James Wray Wilkinson of  Texas, Dan Everett Wilkinson of Denton and Tommy Joe Wilkinson of California; one daughter, Candy Jo Burrell of Round Rock; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; a sister, Margaret (Roy) Wilson of Corpus Christi; and a brother, Richard Marion Preston of Lakeland, Fla.

Schroeder
Dr. Orville Charles Schroeder, 76, died Friday, April 2, 2004.
Visitation was held Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, with Pastor Don  Taylor officiating. Special music was provided by organist Mary Ellen Thoms and singer Dr. Gary Williams. Songs included “How Great Thou Art,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “Morning Has Broken,” “Take My Hand Precious Lord,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Ron Davis, W.L. Davis, Mark Parsons, Dick Beasley, Ken Harvey, Justin Coldeway and Clyde Evons. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John Hester, Dr. Tom Stark, Dr. Phillip Finke, Dr. Sam Hogue, Don Vickery, Amos Welder, Tom Beasley, Wilbur Taylor, Kinkler Handly, Sid Malone, Julius Helm, Eddie Wicker, Wayne Massengale, Joe Brown, Lee Chesnutt, Clay Conoly, Jack Hart family, Randy Masters, Rick Duassat, John Elder family, Dr. James Ashley family, Dewayne Bowman Sr., Dr. B.D. Baker and Steve Vittorini.
Dr. Schroeder was born in Brenham on Aug. 10, 1927, to William and Alice (Kramer) Schroeder. He served in the U.S. Navy. He married Mattie Davis in Waco in 1948. He graduated with a bachelor of science from Baylor University and an optometric doctorate from the University of Houston.
He moved to Beeville in 1955 and went to work for Dr. Hester, forming a partnership that lasted 38 years. Dr. Schroeder was a 50 year member of the  Texas and National Optometric Association. He served on the  Texas State Optometric Association’s legislative committee and the advisory committee of the  Texas Department of Human Resources, representing optometry. He was active in the Southcentral  Texas Optometric Association. He served two terms as president of the Beeville Country Club. He was past president of the Rotary Club and served as chairman of the Bee County Democratic Party. He also served as chairman of the United Way and participated in several other local organizations.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Schroeder, and his son, Doug Schroeder.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Schroeder; his mother, Alice Schroeder; his daughter, Debbie Coldeway and husband Ron, all of Beeville; two grandchildren, Justin Coldeway and wife Shannon of San Antonio and Kristen Evons and husband Clyde of Katy; four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Peyton, Mason and Davis; his brothers-in-law, Bill Davis and wife Katherine of Houston and Robert Davis of Oregon; an aunt, Ida May Wubbenhorst and husband Lloyd of Brenham; two nephews, Ronnie Davis of Arizona and W.L. Davis of Houston; and numerous friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mary Murphy Glaucoma Endowment, University of Houston College of Optometry c/o Melissa Mares, 505 J. Davis Armistad Bldg., Houston, TX 77204-2020.

Rudeloff
Walter Freienmuth Rudeloff of San Antonio, 82, died March 22, 2004, after a long illness. He was born in Seguin on Sept. 21, 1921, to Sylvia Freienmuth and Otto D. Rudeloff.
He grew up in Beeville, graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1938 and served as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II. He practiced law in San Antonio where he was appointed a member of the city council and was city attorney for Selma.
He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn; two sons, Walter F. Rudeloff Jr. and wife Susan of London, England, and Robert E. Rudeloff and wife Cindy of Dallas; one grandson, Stefan Fritz Rudeloff, and one granddaughter, Erica Rudeloff, both of Dallas; one brother, Richard E. Rudeloff and wife Martha West Rudeloff of Beeville; and one sister, Sylvia McCord of Beeville.
Graveside services were held March 26 at the Schumannsville Cemetery in Guadalupe County and memorial services are planned for 4 p.m. May 16 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 7150 W. IH 10, San Antonio.

Acuña
Ignacio Martinez Acuña Jr., 56, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Pasadena.
Visitation was held Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pettus with Father Joseph Verghese officiating. Special music was provided by singer Joe Constante. Burial followed in the Pettus Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ruben, Perry, Sergo and Manuel Acuña, Sunny Aguirre and Eddie Garza. Honorary pallbearers were Ignacio Acuña Sr. and Manuel Acuña Sr.
Mr. Acuña was born in Corpus Christi on Aug. 29, 1948, to Ignacio and Refugia (Martinez) Acuña. He resided in Pasadena, where he was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. He was a painter for IMP Mobile Industrials.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Refugia Martinez Acuña, and his uncle, Ray Acuña.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Hernandez Acuña of Pasadena; two sons and two daughters, all of Houston; a son, Sonny Aguirre and wife Candy of Pettus; a daughter, Henrietta Garza and husband Eddie of Pasadena; three grandchildren; his father, Ignacio Acuña Sr. of Corpus Christi; two brothers and two sisters, all of Corpus Christi and two brothers of Santa Ana,  Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Apolinar S. “Polo” Garza, 85, died Sunday, March 6, 2005.
Mr. Garza was born in Goliad on Feb. 10, 1920, to Jose and (Eulogia) Salinas Garza. He was a retired carpenter and painter.
Survivors include his wife, Estella C. Flores Garza of Beeville; two daughters, Diana G. Leal of Pleasanton and Lydia (Timothy) Starry of Austin; three grandchildren, Hilda Ann Leal of Pleasanton, Melissa T. (Chris) Anderson and Robert G. (Tiffany) Leal, both of Austin; three great-grandchildren, Victoria G. Leal, Kathryn Palge and Patrick Christopher Anderson, all of Austin; three brothers, Aurelio Garza of Beeville, Anastacio (Rita) Garza of Corpus Christi and Gilberto (Eva) Garza of Alta Loma; four sisters, Josefa Guzman of Santa Ana,  Calif., Maria Nino of Odem, Elia Montemayor of Corpus Christi and Juanita Koehler of Alvin.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Robert G. Leal, Joel Reyes, Emilio Postel Jr., Aurelio Garza, Jr., Johnny Nino and Ernest Flores Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Ernesto Flores Sr., Jessie Garcia, Emilio Postel Sr. and Lucas Reyes.

Jacob Robert Garza, 40, died Saturday, March 5, 2005.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Willie Sharp, Leroy Soliz, Larry Soliz, Geronimo Guerra, Eloy Garcia and Ricky Ruiz Jr.
Mr. Garza was born in Port Lavaca on Feb. 2, 1965, to Emilio and Santos (Garza) Ruiz. He was a Catholic and employed as a nurses aide.
Survivors include his mother, Santos G. Ruiz of Beeville; his father, Emilio A. Ruiz of Port Lavaca; a companion, Paula Obrero; his brother, Richard Ruiz; two sisters, Emily Ruiz Sharp and Elizabeth Ruiz Arredondo; and his maternal grandfather, Simon Garza, all of Beeville.

Landreth
John Boyd (J.J.) Landreth Jr., 20, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Berthold officiating. Special music included “I Can Only Imagine” and “Presence,” with organist Damona Fox and singers Liz Mendez and Randy Hollis. Burial followed in Tynan’s Waldheim Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jesse and Johnny Gonzales, Bill, Alan, Kyle and Jason Landreth, Adam Levine, Adolfo Guerrero and Abel Suniga.
Mr. Landreth was born in Beeville on Jan. 4, 1985, to John Boyd and Gloria (Gonzales) Landreth. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 2003. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church and a student.
Survivors include his parents, John and Gloria Landreth; his brothers, Justin Jay and Jared Martin Landreth; his grandparents, Wesley and Trudy Landreth and Olivia Gonzales and Manuel Gonzales, all of Beeville; and his aunts and uncles, Alan, Wesley, Vernon, Sheila, Jason and Kyle Landreth, Virgil and Oralia Landreth, Bill (Lolly) Landreth, Loyd (Rosie) Landreth, Lynnette (Joe) Aguilar, Manuel (Delores) Gonzales, Mike (Janie) Gonzales, Ignacio (Manuella) Gonzales, Jesse (Mary Lou) Gonzales, George Gonzales and Johnny (Gabriella) Gonzales.
