Mrs. Jerkins
Alma Ruth Reynolds Jerkins, 91, of Refugio, formerly of Beeville, died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007.
She was born in Runge on Aug. 23, 1915, to Walton and Nancy Lenora Pullins Reynolds. She married Barney E. Jerkins in New Braunfels on April 15, 1935. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Jerkins was a tailor and had 15 years service with the Navy Exchange, NAS Chase Field. She lived with her grandson Sam, his wife and children, in Refugio, until her condition required her to go to a nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney, on March 5, 1988; one son, J.W. Jerkins; and two brothers, Roland Bunton Boyd and Alvin Reynolds.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Ruth Jerkins Lee of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Samuel, Ralph, Cleighton and Katherine; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Danielle, Jessica and Lane; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Helgren officiating.

Mrs. Johnson
Donna Bernice Johnson, 47, died on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, in San Antonio.
She was born on April 14, 1959, in Great Falls, Mont., to Gerald and Isabelle Siepker. She graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz.
She is survived by her husband, Gary  Johnson of Beeville; two sons, Michael and Louis Johnson; her parents, Gerald and Isabelle Siepker of Live Oak; and one sister, Ann Marie Lowes.
A memorial service will be held at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City.

Mrs. Lazenby
Thelma M. Lazenby, 94, passed away on January 7, 2007, in Beeville,  Texas. She was born August 27, 1912, in Matador,  Texas to Thomas Sidney Bruce and Fannie Jane Cryer Bruce. Thelma married leonard Lazenby on August 18, 1930 in Del Rio. She was a homemaker and a member of Ave. D Baptist Church in Brownwood until she moved back to Beeville and joined First Baptist Church. She is also a lifetime member of Rebekah Lodge.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard Lazenby, a son Tommy Lazenby, four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include her son Bill Lazenby and wife Patsy, a daughter Barbara Bankston all of Beeville,  Texas, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and best friend and care giver Tommie Chavez also of Beeville.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Del Rio Cemetery.

Mr. Wormser
Seymour Wormser, 79, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007. He was born on Oct. 6, 1927, in Laredo to Ethel Friedlander and Edwin Joseph Wormser. He graduated from Martin High School and attended  Texas A&I (now A&M) at Kingsville. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served in the Communications Division of General Headquarters with Gen. Douglas MacArthur in Tokyo, Japan. He was a resident of Corpus Christi for 50 years and had a successful career in the oil and gas business as president of Seymour Wormser Exploration, Inc.
Mr. Wormser was a prominent oilman and rancher, and was the owner of Dos Sombreros Ranch of Live Oak County, where he resided with his wife for the past 10 years. As a premier breeder of registered Beefmaster cattle bearing the Sombrero brand, his cattle have been exported to Mexico, Brazil and Australia. Mr. Wormser established many close personal and professional relationships with cattlemen in Mexico.
He was a lifetime member of Beefmaster Breeders United and served on the board of directors. He organized the International Marketing Committee, serving as chairman for several years, and in 2006 he was the recipient of the Beefmaster Association Legend Award. He was a member of the Professional Landman’s Association in Corpus Christi, and also was a past member of the board of directors of the First State Bank, then located at Six Points in Corpus Christi. He was a sponsor of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Refuge in Kingsville. His passion for fine cattle, land management and wildlife preservation is a priority on his ranch. He also has been a generous contributor to the South  Texas Children’s Home of Beeville.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Ferdinand Wormser; and his first wife, Charlsie McGrew Wormser.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Roberts Wormser of George West; his sons, David Bernard Wormser and wife Laura of San Antonio and Charles Edwin Wormser and wife Patty of Corpus Christi; his stepdaughter, Allison Foster Gasataya of South Korea; his grandchildren, Charlsie and Stephen Wormser of San Antonio, Denise Wormser of Lubbock and Robert Wormser of Dallas; and nieces, Ethel Wormser and Dorothy Sorg of Eugene, Ore.
A public memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel in Corpus Christi.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the South  Texas Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1210, Beeville, TX 78104, and to the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Refuge, 700 University Blvd., Kingsville, TX 78363.
Arrangements were by Seaside Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Mr. Hall
Henry Williams Hall Jr., 76, long time owner of a motion picture theater chain in South  Texas and a Beeville civic leader, died Wednesday evening following a long illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1930, in San Antonio, his father, mother and grandparents on both sides of his family, the Halls, Skidmore and Ellises, were pioneer Bee County residents and early area businessmen who founded cotton gins, mercantile businesses, movie theaters and ranches. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School and attended Schreiner Institute in Kerrville before entering the Air Force.
Hall married Louis Welder, a daughter of pioneer Bee County Rancher Raymond Welder Sr. in 1954. They were high school sweethearts who reared a family of five boys and one girl, of which all but one son, Henry Williams Hall III, survive. His children are active in prosperous South  Texas businesses. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alma Ellis Hall.
Sons, John Raymond, Patrick Welder and Joseph Sydney, own and operate a chain of movie theaters, including six auditoriums in Beeville, and others that stretch north to Kerrville, east to Bay City and south to Alice and Kingsville. Son Monte is a real estate appraiser who works out of Nueces County and daughter Alice Louise Box owns and operates A Perfect Fit and Curves, a dress emporium and a women’s exercise center, respectively, in Beeville.
Hall is also survived by grandchildren, Russell Dewayne Martinez, Mitchell Clay Box, Jonathan Keith Box, Kristen Louise Hall, Henry Williams Hall IV, Elizabeth Ann Hall, William Connor Hall, Joseph Wyatt Hall, Hudson  Taylor Hall, Caroline Kamryn Hope Hall, John Raymond Hall II, Sarah Elizabeth Hall, Thomas Patrick Hall, Chase Welder Hall, and Haley Rebecca Hall.
Hall, a U.S. Air Force veteran, served with the Strategic Air Command in North Africa and in  Louisiana. A lifelong resident of Beeville, Hall is a former Chairman of the Board of the State Bank & Trust of Beeville until his retirement in 1989. He was a past board member of the National Association of Theatre Owners and a former member of the Beeville Chamber of Commerce.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where Hall worshipped as a member, or to the Hall Memorial Nursing Scholarship being established at Coastal Bend College where Mrs. Hall serves as a member of the college’s board of trustees.
Hall, a former Rotarian and member of the Beeville Country Club, was a life member of the American Radio Relay League (APRL) that promotes the hobby of amateur radio. The deceased’s father also was an active amateur radio operator who was a pioneer in the field who transmitted from the first radio station in Beeville in the early teens and 1920s before there was a federal licensing bureau.
Hall, who always promoted the hobbies of electronics and FCC-licensed amateur radio in Beeville, was issued K5FPJ as his FCC call sign and encouraged his wife, Louise, to earn her license, K5FPK. Son Patrick, of Kerrville, carries on the amateur radio tradition with the FCC-issued call sign, KB5WTW.
Rosary is set for Friday (Feb. 9) at 7 p.m. at Galloway Funeral Home and the funeral will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 10).

Patricia Cox Shaw
December 7, 1931 to February 5, 2007
Patricia was born in Beeville,  Texas on December 7, 1931. She was the daughter of Alex F. Cox and Fay Shelton Cox who preceded her to heaven.
Pat Cox, as she was known in high school, was one of the most celebrated graduates of A.C.  Jones High School in the felicitous post World War II period. She was the all school favorite, majorette in the Trojan Band, Lantana festival princess, recipient of many other popularity honors, and an outstanding scholar. She went on to the University of  Texas where she became the first Beeville Girl to be voted to the cheerleader squad, then consisting of four boys and two girls. Throughout her life, she was devoted to the University of  Texas Alumni affairs and participated in numerous activities celebrating cheerleader tradition. After graduating from UT she married Van Shaw, who later became a Presbyterian Minister, and lived in several other states over the course of a thirty year career. For several years, the family worked with the campus ministry at the University of Missouri. Patricia had her own career as a high school and grade school teacher, specializing in later years in English as a second language. She was a dynamic presence in community affairs throughout her life. She was the founder of the Evergreen Cemetery preservation project. Evergreen cemetery is Beeville’s original cemetery . She was also a member of the Bee County Historical Commission and the Beeville Art Association. Patricia gave her assistance to many community activities, including a fundraising theater presentation of “Twelve Angry Men” for the Rialto restoration project. She initiated Beeville Athletics Hall of Fame, and her most recent activity included the Go Red campaign for women conducted by the American Heart Association.
Survivors include a son, Greg (Loretta) Shaw of Austin; grandsons, Malcolm, Maverick, and Marcus Shaw; a daughter, Alexis Shaw of Buda; a brother, Alex (Lynn) Cox Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Robert Cox of Hollywood,  Calif.; a sister, Cissy (Frank) Weidner of El Paso; nephews, Kenneth Weidner, Robert Weidner and Daniel Cox; nieces, Leanne (Neklan) Von Mittenwald, Sharon Allman, Jenny Cox, Alexa (Paul) Krakauskas; great nieces, Tanya Von Mittenwald and Madeline Allman; great nephews, Tomas and Eric Krakauskas; aunts, Lila Cox Olive of Aransas Pass and Alma Cox (Teenie) Riley and husband Tom of Mineral Wells; numerous cousins; and a host of friends.
Patricia’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Beeville. As a dedicated and innovative teacher she touched so many lives. As a photographer, poet and vibrant woman - she captured our hearts. We'll cherish the light, the azure blue sky that shines in her eyes and smiles upon us.
Memorials may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Association, 409 East  Jones St., Beeville, TX 78102, or the Go Red for Women Fund, American Heart Association, 500 North Water St., Corpus Christi, TX 78401.

Johnson
Beulah May Johnson, 79, died Saturday, June 8, 2002.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the John Ed Holland residence in George West. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in George West with the Rev. Hoyt Hunnicut officiating. Burial followed at the  Johnson Ranch in George West.
Pallbearers were Casey Bird, Doyle Bird, John Ed Holland, Toby Holland, Bob Johnson, Dick Swanson, John Watson and Kenneth Watson.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Bain, Phillip Crawford, Sonny James, Rufus Lyne, R.B. Sanders and Fred Irving Watson.
Special music was provided by organist Nancy McKinney and soloist A.J. Viertel.
Mrs.  Johnson was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Gregory-Portland to Robert Joseph and Beulah (McWhorter) Toland. She married her high school sweetheart, Aaron E. “A.E.” Johnson, on March 25, 1943, in Odem. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in George West.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, A.E. Johnson, on May 24, 2001.
She is survived by her son, Robert Earl “Bob”  Johnson of George West; two daughters, Carlas Sue Holland and husband John Ed of George West and Trudy Ann Bird and husband Doyle of Oakville; three grandchildren, Erin Jo and Toby Holland and Casey Bird, all of George West; and a sister, Ann  Jones of Fort Worth.

Medellin
Rodolfo Medellin, 47, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday morning in Sinton. Burial will follow in Sinton’s Descanso Eterno Cemetery.
Mr. Medellin was born May 28, 1955, in Sinton to Frank and Guadalupe P. Medellin.
Survivors include his best friend, Jeni Mick of Beeville; two sons, Rodolfo Jr. and Frank Medellin, both of Beeville; a daughter, Ana Marie Johnston of Arizona; his father, Frank Medellin of Dallas; his mother, Guadalupe Medellin of Beeville; one sister, Olivia (Lee) Ramirez of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

Rathke
Lloyd Rathke, 83, a retired equipment operator for the  Texas Department of Transportation, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Corpus Christi’s Spohn Hospital South.
Visitation was held Sunday afternoon at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services took place Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Three Rivers with the Rev. Bob Hobbins officiating. Burial followed in Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Herman, Zachary, Erik, Jason and Lance Rathke. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Poore and Leroy Secrest.
Special music was provided by pianist Jacky Stroleny.
Mr. Rathke was born in Lavaca County in the community of Sweet Home on Jan. 13, 1919, to Emil Phillip and Mae (Johnson) Rathke. In 1921, his family moved to Simmons City, a community near Three Rivers. He joined the Army and served in World War II. Upon his return, he worked as a heavy equipment operator around South  Texas. In 1952, he moved to Corpus Christi and worked as a pumper/gauger for General American Tank Storage.
He married Ella Louise Huebotter on Sept. 20, 1947, in Live Oak County.
In 1970, he went to work for TxDOT, and he retired from that career in 1985. He was a resident of Three Rivers and a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Carl, Howard and James Alvin Rathke, his sister, Oleta Rathke, and an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise (Huebotter) Rathke of Three Rivers; three sons, David (Sandra) Rathke and Michael Rathke, both of Corpus Christi, and Charles (Anne) Rathke of Barksdale AFB, La.; one daughter, Kathleen Rathke of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren, Cheryl (Randy) Pittman, Lance (Teri) Rathke, Matthew, Chase, Kiersten, Erik, Jason, Zachary and Dustin Rathke; three great-grandchildren, Meagan and Kayla Pittman and Daryn Rathke; and two sisters, Willie Ray Baker of Corpus Christi and Nell (Fred) Lehman of Three Rivers.
