Chapa
Francisco Z. Chapa, 89, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at his residence in Beeville.
Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in the Mineral Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nick and Ruben Hernandez, Pedro Casarez Jr., Mark Anthony Canales, Rene Cadena and Mike Martinez.
Mr. Chapa was born in Mathis on Dec. 11, 1915, to Abundio and Celedina (Zamora) Chapa. He was a retired custodian and a member of the Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Antonia R. Chapa, who died on Oct. 30, 2002.
Survivors include his daughters, Josie Hernandez of Freer, Lupe Crowder of Florida, Bertha Chapa of Beeville and Juanita Casarez of Fort Worth; his sons, Adolfo Chapa and Edward Perales, both of Beeville; his sister, Maria Gonzales of Shamrock; his brothers, David and Luciano Chapa, both of Kenedy; 17 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Treviño

Gonzales
Tomas F. Gonzales, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose J. Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Elizardo Gonzalez Jr., Rodney Gonzalez, Pete Edward Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez, Macario Gonzalez, Israel Gonzalez Jr., Jason Gonzalez and Felipe Moreno Jr.
Mr. Gonzales was born in Beeville on Dec. 23, 1923, to Donicio and Rafaela (Flores) Gonzales. He was a retired employee with the City of Beeville and a member of OLV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Paiz Gonzales, a daughter, Maria Lucilla Gonzales, three sisters, eight brothers and a son-in-law, Felipe Maldonado Moreno.
Survivors include his children, Elizardo Paiz Gonzalez and wife Amada H. of Beeville, Israel P. Gonzalez and wife Augustina Lane of George West, Yolanda P. Moreno of Corpus Christi, Maria Lucia Gonzales DeHoyos of Beeville, and San Juanita Gonzales De Hoyos and husband Alejos of Floydada; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Nieves “Juan” Gonzales and wife Esther of Beeville.

Gerberg
Jerry A. Gerberg, 55, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He will be buried at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.
A resident of Beeville, he was born on Nov. 1, 1949, in Hayward,  Calif., to Dean and Emma (Hammer) Gerberg. He was a Lutheran and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his mother, Emma Hammer Gerberg of Beeville; his sisters, Dorothea Clisby of Bay City, Ga., Dale Ann Arnold of Commerce, Ga., and Deana Rule and Elisha Gerberg, both of Houston; and his brothers, Tom Gerberg of Phoenix, Ariz., Park Gerberg of Abilene, Terry Gerberg of Houston and Jeremy and Kevin Gerberg, both of Beeville.

Schubert
Sara Beth Schubert, 18, of Woodsboro, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005.
Visitation was on Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home chapel in Refugio from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Woodsboro with the Dr. Jimmy C. Arnold officiating. Burial followed in Refugio County’s LaRosa Cemetery.
Pallbearers were the Woodsboro High School Class of 2004, T.C. Amador, Chad Walker, Kevin Borden, John Wiginton, Justin Kinslow, Justin Schubert and David Mundine.
Miss Schubert was a student at Coastal Bend College. She was born in Victoria on March 12, 1986, to James “Bubba” and Leann Hicks Schubert of Woodsboro.
She is survived by her parents; her brother, Brett Schubert; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Patsy Hicks; paternal grandmother, Virginia L. Schubert all of Woodsboro; aunts and uncles, Steve Schubert, Suzanne Carter and her husband Scott Carter, Kathy Schubert, Audra Schubert, Bill and Ann Schubert; cousins, Mindy Carter, Meagan Carter, Christopher and Scott Jr. Carter, Emily and Alyssa Schubert, Steven, Lauren and Hugh Schubert and Josh and Zachary Schubert.
Memorials may be made to the Ron and Don Hicks Scholarship Fund and Ann Martin, P.O. Box 770, Woodsboro, TX. 78393.
Arrangements were handled through Moore Funeral Home, Refugio.

Treviño
Herlinda Lopez Treviño, 68, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Doctors Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose J. Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Heather Treviño, Marissa Posada, Michael Treviño, Manuel S. Lopez, Robert Lopez and Oscar Arrisola. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Baltazar, Guadalupe Lopez Jr. and Eddie Arrisola.
Mrs. Treviño was born in Normanna on Feb. 7, 1937, to Manuel and Romanna (Abrigo) Lopez. She married Aurelio G. Treviño Sr. on Feb. 7, 1960. She was a resident of Beeville and a homemaker. She was a member of OLV and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include her husband, Aurelio “Lupe” Treviño Sr.; a son, Aurelio “Sonny” Treviño Jr. and daughter-in-law Brenda; a daugher, Margarita Treviño Posada and son-in-law Ernesto; five grandchildren, Michael and Heather Treviño and Marissa, Mariah and Marivel Posada; three brothers, Manuel, Oscar and Guadalupe Lopez; her guardian, Julia Flores, all of Beeville; a sister, Celia Arrisola of Normanna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cantu
Delfina Cantu, 84, died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006.
Visitation was to be held today (Wednesday) from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was to be recited today at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Eddie Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are John Cantu, Michael Cantu, David Cantu, Sid Arismendez IV, Bobby DelBosque and Ruben Guerrero. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Vega, Ernest Soliz, Dakota DelBosque, Colton DelBosque, John Cantu and Eric Arismendez.
Mrs. Cantu was born in Berclair on July 31, 1921, to the late Francisca Camacho and Francisco Guerrero. She was married to Benito F. Cantu in June 1939 in Beeville. She resided in Beeville as a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on July 29, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Benito (Delia) Cantu of Burbank,  Calif.; three daughters, Bea Cantu of Beeville, Gloria (David) Smith of Houston and Diane (Michael) Duda of Dallas; two brothers, Adan Guerrero of Beeville and Jose Guerrero of Pasadena,  Calif.; one sister, Flora Yzaguirre of Beeville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Castillo
Silberia Sanchez Castillo, 58, died on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006. She was a Victoria resident.
Visitation was held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Artero Memorial Chapels in Victoria. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. at the same location. Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with Father Gabriel Otoo officiating. Burial followed at the Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Juan Lucio, Victor Lucio, John Silica, David Parker, Joe Sanchez and Ivan Acosta.
Mrs. Castillo was born in Beeville on Feb. 24, 1947, to Sacarias Sanchez. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Sabas Herrera; a sister; Maria Eugenia Farias; and a brother, Jose Gilberto Gonzales.
Survivors include her husband, John Silica of Victoria; her mother, Sacarias Sanchez of Olton; two daughters, Guadalupe Martinez and Gloria Acosta, both of Victoria; five sons, Juan Lucio, Victor Lucio, David Parker and Joe Sanchez, all of Victoria, and Mario Lucio of Austin; four sisters, Mary H. (Mae) Garcia, Benita Campos, Linda Barrera, all of Beeville, and Dolores Vega of Alma, Mich.; three brothers, Guadalupe Herrera Sr., Luis Herrera Jr. and Manuel S. Gonzales Jr., all of Beeville; and 20 grandchildren.

Mr. Gutierrez
Manuel Gutierrez, 80, died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in a Beeville nursing home. He was a retired rancher from Beeville and a Catholic.
Mr. Gutierrez was born in George West on Aug. 31, 1925, to the late Jesus Torrez and Guadalupe Gutierrez.
Rosary was recited on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed at the Cadiz Cemetery in the Cadiz community.
Pallbearers were Robert Sauceda, Ramon Ramon, Ruben Perez, Wally Sanchez, Anthony Gutierrez and Michael Moreno. Honorary pallbearers were Nelda and Charlie Ulrich, Mary Arredondo and Carlos Perez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Olivia Cabazos Gutierrez, twin daughters, two brothers, Guadalupe and Robert Gutierrez, and two sisters, Maria Sanchez and Amada Garza.
Survivors include his sisters, Eloisa Perez and Juanita Gomez, both of Beeville, Estella Ramon of Rockport, Elena Hernandez of Baytown and Jesusa Rodriguez of Floydada; a brother, Joe Gutierrez of Rockport; and several nieces, including his special caregiver, Nelda Ulrich of Beeville, and nephews.

Harris baby
Jayvon Jeameal Harris died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006.
He was born in Beeville on Jan. 20, 2006, to Monica Ray DeLeon and Chaddrick Jeameal Harris of Pettus, members of the Normanna Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Roberto and Maria DeLeon of Pettus; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Jean Harris of Wharton; maternal great-grandmother, Delia Garcia of Pettus; maternal great-great-grandmother, Maria Soliz of Beeville; and brother, Jeameal Deshaun Jerodi Harris of Pettus.
Private family services will be held.

Mr. Ramirez
Moncies Ramirez Jr., 43, died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville. He was a Beeville resident.
Mr. Ramirez was born in Beeville on March 24, 1962, to Sovieda Flores and Alfredo Chapa. He married Linda Moreno Ramirez on May 9, 1980, in Beeville. He was a pipe fitter foreman, a former student of A.C.  Jones High School and a Catholic.
Rosary was recited on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alfredo Chapa Jr., David and Steve Chapa, Gilbert Moreno III, Mike Garcia and Alberto Rodriguez Jr.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alicia Flores; and his in-laws, Gilbert and Alma Moreno.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Moreno Ramirez of Beeville; parents, Alfredo Chapa and Sovieda Flores of Beeville; daughters, Erica L., Christina L., Marissa L. and Alicia L. Ramirez, all of Beeville; sisters, Mary Alice (Alberto) Rodriguez of Berclair, Jo Ann (Ventura) Garcia, Elizabeth Chapa and Isabella (Steve) Barrera, all of Beeville; and brothers, Alfredo Chapa Jr. of Corpus Christi, David (Larissa) Chapa of Beeville and Steve (Julie) Chapa of San Antonio.
