Mrs. Shifflette
Ida Marie Shifflette, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, in Orlando, Fla.
Mrs. Shifflette was born May 12, 1927, in Tuleta to Charles and Myrtle Nelson. She worked as a waitress at “Gary’s Duck Inn” in the 1960s and ’70s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Captain Carl Shifflette.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bill Wood of Orlando, Fla., and Shannon and Dave Washuta of Clermont, Fla.; four grandchildren, Michelle and Trey Milam, also of Clermont, Fla., Hilary Maull of Orlando, Fla., and Billy Wood of West Virginia; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Nelson of Beeville; and two sisters, Audrey Murch of San Antonio and Irene Chessher of Pettus.
Interment will be private.

Mr. Steinmeyer
Ronald C. Steinmeyer, 57, of Aransas Pass died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007.
He was born May 2, 1949, in Beeville. He worked as a survey engineer.
Mr. Steinmeyer is survived by his wife, Dehlia Steinmeyer of Aransas Pass; one son, David Ronald Steinmeyer of Aransas Pass; his mother, Melba Steinmeyer of Skidmore; and one sister, Debbie Rackley of Pettus.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Mathis.

Mrs. Tobias
Candelaria Tobias, 79, of Beeville died on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007.
She was born in Kenedy on Sept. 21, 1928, to Agripino and Maria de Jesus Rodriguez Saldivar. On June 30, 1945, she married Alfonzo B. Tobias in Gregory. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Alfonzo Tobias Jr. of Yuma, Ariz., and Felix Tobias of Pasadena; four daughters, Teresa Tobias, Petra Salazar and Amada Tobias, all of Beeville, and Josi Tobias of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel, with a rosary recited at 7 o’clock that same evening. Funeral services were held there at 10 a.m. Monday with Father Eddie Garcia officiating. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Salazar Jr., Roland Salazar, Jaime Salazar, Victor Hernandez, Felix Hernandez and Roberto Hernandez.

Mr. Weaver
Danny Weaver, 78, of Corpus Christi died on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Beeville to Samuel Daniel and Jewel Mae Malone Weaver. He was a retired oil field worker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Weaver; one son, James Kelly Weaver; his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include six sons, Danny Weaver Jr. and wife Nancy and Gary Weaver and wife Linda, both of Odem, Kenneth Weaver and wife Tami of Corpus Christi, Sammy Weaver of Gatesville, Billy Weaver and wife Kay of Beeville, and Tommy Weaver of Utah; seven daughters, Sandra Pfeiffer and husband Russell of Boerne, Carolyn Floyd and husband Dale of Utah, Patricia Eley and husband James, Judy Terry and husband Floyd, and Laura Latka, all of Corpus Christi, Claudia Brinkman and husband Steve of George West, and Cathy Muscat and husband David of Mont Belvieu; 41 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted there at 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.
Mrs. West
Frances Kanipe West was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 2, 1921, and died in Calabasas, California on February 24, 2007. She was a singer, world traveler, and wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Charles R. Manning and wife Eva of Beeville and William Hardy West and wife Krista of Canyon Country, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses, Peter Allan Ferrer and wife Norma of Beeville, Richard Manning and wife Kerri of Mount Vernon, and Heather Anne Guzman and Lawrence Lloyd Glew of Beeville; and eight great-grandchildren, Roxanna and Paricia Ferrer, Alexandra Gonzales, Aden and Ethan Manning, and Shawn, Jacob and Mariah Guzman. She is also survived by her two beloved dogs, Suzee and Sadee.
Funeral services are pending at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors in Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Almendarez
Ysabel Alcorta Almendarez, 87, of Skidmore, died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1920, in George West to Francisca Trejo Alcorta and Juan Alcorta. She married Guadalupe Almendarez on Aug. 25, 1957, in Skidmore. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Guadalupe Almendarez of Skidmore; two daughters, Yolanda (John) Lynch and Frances Almendarez, both of Skidmore; one son, Eloy Almendarez of Skidmore; two adopted daughters, Esther (Keith) Alcorta Starr of Bedford, and Victoria Canela of Houston; two grandchildren, John Patrick Lynch Jr. and Corry Allen Lynch; two brothers, Guadalupe Alcorta and Pablo Alcorta, both of Beeville.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore with Father Sebastian V. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be Daniel, Juan and Joseph Alcorta, Corry Allen Lynch and John Patrick Lynch Jr.

Hortencia G. Fernandez, 76, of Victoria, died on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, in Victoria.
She was born on July 16, 1931, in Beeville to Maximo and Rosario Basaldua Garza. She was retired from Victoria ISD food service and was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Raynaldo S. Fernandez; one son, Nieves Fernandez; one brother, Alfredo B. Garza; and five sisters, Minnie Hernandez, Jovita Vidal, Rosa Rodriguez, Beatrice Gamez and Lupita Trevino.
Survivors include four daughters, Belinda Fernandez, Lori Fernandez and Esther Monroe, all of Victoria, and Dorothy Taylor of San Benito; one son, Ray G. Fernandez of Victoria; one sister, Rachel Ramon of Beeville; and one brother, David B. Garza of Beeville.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Artero Memorial Chapels in Victoria with a rosary to be recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Victoria with Father Stanley DeBoe officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Victoria.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Taylor, Bobby Ray Taylor, Michael Monroe, Ray Fernandez III, Tony Fernandez, Joshua Morales.

Mrs. Haws
Vera Haws, 79, of Skidmore, died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007.
She was retired from Bee County College where she served as assistant cafeteria manager. Mrs. Haws was born on July 26, 1928, in Gilmer, Texas to the late Marion Oxford and Zada Hudson Oxford. She married Wylie “Buck” Haws in 1947 in Gladewater, Texas.
Mrs. Haws was involved with Bee County Little League Baseball for over 30 years and was honored by having a Beeville T-Ball field named after her. She was named fan of the year by the Skidmore Basketball team. She will be missed at all athletic functions.
She is survived by one daughter, Carlyne (Jim) Northam of Beeville, Texas; two sons, Bucky (Jackie) Haws and Ricky (Valerie) Haws, both of Skidmore; one brother, Buddy (Virginia) Lange of Gilmer, Texas; and one sister, Anita (Marvin) Myska of Gilmer, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Darla (David) Perron of George West, Mickey (Tina) Northam of San Antonio, Andrea (Tony) Gutierrez of Beeville, Andrew Jones of San Marcos, Jamey (Amanda) Haws of Beeville, Jody (Robin) Haws of Skidmore, Joshua (Erin) Haws of Nixon, Jordan Haws, Brandon Haws and Nathan Haws, all of Skidmore, and James Talley of High Springs, Arkansas; 13 great-grandchildren, Ariana Haws, Charli Perron, Zachary Zermeno, Avery Haws, Tristan Talley, Savana Talley, Ryan Talley, Faith Talley, Lukus Haws, Kylee Haws, Tucker Huff, Joely Haws and Jade Northam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Kevin Haws and one daughter, Linda Jones.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas.

Mrs. Henry
Ima Gene Henry, 86, of Beeville died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007.
She was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Mineral to John Henry and Bessie Marie (Booth) Bass. She married Ray J. Henry in Beeville on Jan. 4, 1941. She was a Baptist and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Ray J. Henry of Beeville; one daughter, Patsy Gene Elaine Sparks of Beeville; and one son, Lesley Ray Henry of Orangedale; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services were held there at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Carl Pickett officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Tindol
Alvis “A.M.” Tindol, 87, of Beeville died on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1920, in Cadiz to Mattie Wesson and Charlie Tindol. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1938 and married Louise Somerton on Jan. 28, 1944, in Sacramento, Calif. He was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #274. He started working at a Texaco station in 1948 and ran that business for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mattie Tindol; one son, Dale Tindol; and one great-grandson, David Howell.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Tindol of Beeville; one daughter, Joan Spittler and husband Donald of Portland; daughter-in-law, Margaret Tindol of Beeville; six grandchildren, Shannon Tindol, Jason Tindol, Blake Howell, Brooke Scogin, Garrett Tindol and Anne Tindol; two great-grandchildren, Ty and Kate Tindol; and one sister-in-law, Gladys Brown of Rockland, Calif.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cadiz Baptist Church in Cadiz. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
