Mr. Meza
Augustine Meza Jr., 65, of Beeville, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1940, in Beeville to Fidela Monsebias and Augustine Meza Sr. He married Elena Martinez and worked as a construction foreman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Elena Martinez Meza of Beeville; daughter, Belinda (John) Hudson of San Antonio; stepdaughters, Edith Fulghum of Reno, Nev., and Cynthia Carrasco of Beeville; sons, Pete (Yvonne) Meza of San Antonio and Jimmy Garcia of Corpus Christi; sisters, Marie (Paul) Disenso of Loveland, Calif., Naomi Meza of Austin, Linda (Dexter) Williams of Russia, Eunice (Joe) Calsada of Richmond and LouAnna (Gilbert) Tapia of Beeville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Tapia, Pete Meza, John Hudson, Dustin Meza, Noah Meza, Joe Calsada and Jasper Meza. Honorary pallbearers will be Benito Molina and Ralph Garza.

Mrs. Corpstein
Doris Michael Corpstein, 86, of Beeville and formerly of Mission, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007.
She was born to Jessie Morton Brock and William Thomas Michael on April 19, 1920, in Broken Bow, Okla. She was a retired schoolteacher for Mission ISD and also taught at St. Paul’s and Our Lady of Guadalupe. On June 28, 1939, she married Frowin H. Corpstein in Mission. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a former member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mission.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frowin H. Corpstein, on Oct. 25, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Paul Corpstein and wife Susan of Paducah, Ky.; five daughters, Darlene Gooris and husband Curt of Portland, Sharon Corpstein of Beeville, Janet Monter of Lewisville, Ohio, Carolyn Dahlquist and husband Dennis of Mission, and Lou Ann Rees and husband Jim of Midland; 11 grandchildren, Jim (Mary Jane) Gooris, Gary (Jackie) Gooris, Patty (Cole) Rich, Daniel (Stacy) George, Tressa (Hamza) Laroussie, Susan George, Paul
(Jamie) Corpstein Jr., David (Crystal) Corpstein, Chris (Teresa) Dahlquist, Olivia (Bryan) Chenevert and Jane Rees;and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Galloway &Sons Funeral Home. Rosaries will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home and at 7 p.m. Monday at Virgil Wilson Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mission with Rev. Roy Snipes officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.

Mrs. Goggans
Hila Mae Goggans, 84, of Wortham, Texas and formerly of Beeville, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Cartmell Home For The Aged in Palestine, Texas. Funeral services were to be Friday, March 2, 2007 at 1 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church Wortham with the Reverend Don Johnson and Reverend Floyd Petersen officiating. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Carr, Ricky Carr, Matthew Goggans, Bryan Stevenson, Allison Calkins, and Merideth Calkins.
Visitation with the family was Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Porter Chapel Wortham.
Mrs. Goggans was born November 24, 1922 in Richland, Texas to George and Elizabeth McClendon. She graduated valedictorian of her senior class and went on to be a beauty operator. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church Wortham.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Carol Goggans of Elkhart, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Scott Calkins of Peachtree City, Georgia; grandson, Matthew Thomas Goggans and wife, Heidi of Mansfield, Texas; granddaughters, Lacey Stevenson and husband, Bryan of Irving, Texas, Leigh Ann Calkins, Allison K. Calkins and Meridith Calkins all of Peachtree City, Georgia; great grandson, Cooper Thomas Goggans of Mansfield, Texas; great granddaughter, Rilee Elizabeth Goggans of Mansfield, Texas; special nephew, Deke McClendon of Corpus Christi, Texas; and countless nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Wortham.

Mrs. Jackson
Patricia “Pat” McMillion Jackson, of Beeville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1941, in Pasadena to Dorothy Gumm and Rueben Luther “Mac” McMillion. Pat was an avid bridge player, a member of the Pan American Round Table and was involved with numerous womens’ clubs. She was a wonderful wife and mother and an especially dedicated softball mom.
Pat was a lifelong resident of Beeville, a housewife and mother. She bravely fought a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was always uncomplaining about her pain and crippling limitations. She was and will be an inspiration to all who knew her and a remarkable legacy for her descendants.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Rueben “Mac” McMillion.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Jackson of Beeville; one daughter, Jennifer Jackson Vestal and husband Rick; three grandchildren, Brooke, Hunter and Harley Vestal; and one sister, Judy Healey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Stewart
Robert Caldwell Stewart, Ph.D., 76, of Corinth, died recently.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1931, in San Antonio to Mildred Caldwell Stewart and Robert H. Stewart. He attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, as an undergraduate, and then received his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Yale in 1968. On April 20, 1985, he married Shirley Hall in New Haven, Conn. He was a professor of British literature at the University of Southern Connecticut in Hamden for 26 years. He began a career at United College, University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He was also a poet, playwright, author, sculptor and pianist, and a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hall Stewart of Corinth; one stepdaughter, Linda Hall of Baltimore, Md.; and two cousins, Patty Adair of Beeville and Tom Partlow of Skidmore.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Henry Heese officiating.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598, in honor of his guide dogs, Yutta and Edward.

Mr. Trevino
Miguel “Mike” Trevino, 102, of Sinton died on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007.
He was born Sept. 29, 1904, and was the owner of Mike’s Garage for many years.
He was preceded in death by one son, Alejandro Trevino; and three wives, Inez, Francisca and Dominga Trevino; and several grandchildren, Norma Garcia, Frank “Doche” Trevino Jr., Oscar Trevino, Diana Trevino, Ronnie Trevino, Eugene Rivas and Hilda Trevino; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie Trevino, Rodney Trevino and Modesto Rodriguez.
Survivors include 10 sons, Rudy Trevino of Beeville, Jesus Trevino of Alvin, Juan, Frank, Jimmy, Henry, Patrick and Mike Trevino Jr., all of Sinton, and Ernest and Wally Trevino of Houston; eight daughters, Ernestina Rivas of Lubbock, Idolina Castillo, Janie Garcia, Mingita Trevino, Irene Flores and Corina Gutierrez, all of Sinton, and Tomasita Jimenez and Mary Jane Norris, both of Corpus Christi; 70 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home in Sinton. Music was provided by Frank Castillo Jr., George Gonzales and Genevieve Trevino. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sinton with Father David Taurasi officiating. Burial followed at Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton.
Pallbearers were Roy Trevino, Juan Rivas Jr., Johnny Trevino Jr., Frank Castillo Jr., Henry Trevino Jr., Adrian Garcia and Ronnie Candelaria Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Trevino Jr. and Daniel Gutierrez.

Adrianna Lynn Valencia, 3 months, of Beeville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007.
She was born on Nov. 27, 2006, in Beeville to Maricela Isabel Valencia and Anthony Ortiz.
Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents, Sylvia and Macario Valencia Sr. of Beeville; five aunts, Rosie Martinez of Rockport, and Alexandra Valencia and Rosalinda Villarreal, both of Beeville, and Ashley Rene Ortiz and Anita Danielle Ortiz, both of Rockport; four uncles, Macario Valencia Jr. and Rico Ramon Ricarte, both of Beeville, and Jamie Ray Ortiz and Juan Ortiz Jr., both of Rockport; and godparents, Faustino and Irene Patlan of Skidmore.
Visitation was to be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today (Saturday) at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment will follow at Ross Cemetery.

Mrs. West
Frances Kanipe West was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 2, 1921, and died in Calabasas, California on February 24, 2007. She was a singer, world traveler, and wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Charles R. Manning and wife Eva of Beeville and William Hardy West and wife Krista of Canyon Country, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses, Peter Allan Ferrer and wife Norma of Beeville, Richard Manning and wife Kerri of Mount Vernon, and Heather Anne Guzman and Lawrence Lloyd Glew of Beeville; and eight great-grandchildren, Roxanna and Paricia Ferrer, Alexandra Gonzales, Aden and Ethan Manning, and Shawn, Jacob and Mariah Guzman. She is also survived by her two beloved dogs, Suzee and Sadee.
Funeral services will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Cage Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart, in Corpus Christi. Graveside services and interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Zuniga
Maria Reyna Zuniga, 76, of George West died on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, in a Victoria hospital.
She was born to Octavio and Eva Cruz Reyna in Kenedy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vicente Zuniga; one daughter, Ida Bernal; and one brother, Octavio Reyna Jr.
Survivors include one stepsister, Ida Carreon of San Antonio; six sons, Julio Zuniga of Cleburne, Victor Zuniga of Edna, Pancho Zuniga of Fannin and Juan, Santos and Antonio Zuniga, all of George West; two stepsons, Raul and Vicente Zuniga Jr., both of George West; five daughters, Eva Colunga of George West, Ester Morin of Ennis, Soila Cotten of Tennille, Ga., Viola Trevino of San Antonio and Eloisa Zuniga of Houston; 56 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was to be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Saturday) at Church of Christ Church in George West. Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Julio Zuniga Jr., Joe Colunga, Lionel Zuniga, Johnny Zuniga, Tony Zuniga and Frank Zuniga. Honorary pallbearers are Juan Zuniga and Victor Zuniga Jr.

Adams
The Rev. Lee Marriner Adams, 77, rector emeritus of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church died Saturday, April 3, 2004.
Born in San Antonio on Feb. 28, 1927, Rev. Adams was a graduate of Jefferson High School, the University of Texas, and Virginia Theological Seminary. He served at All Saints Episcopal Church in Galena Park from 1975 to 1982 and at St. Timothy’s until his retirement in 1989.
Rev. Adams was the rector at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church from 1959 to 1962, and had many friends in Beeville. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and four daughters.
