Mrs. Suniga
Lena Suniga, 90, of Kingsville, formerly of Beeville, died on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at a Corpus Christi hospital.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1916, in Taft to Francisca Garcia and Carlos Suarez. She was a Catholic and a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Genaro Suniga; three sisters, Macrina Jalomo, Paula Suarez and Gloria Molina; and two brothers, Roberto and Ricardo Suarez.
Survivors include one sister, Ludivina Flores of Littlefield; one brother, Charlie Suarez Jr. of St. Paul; and several nieces and nephews.
A rosary was to be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was to be celebrated at 10 a.m. (today) Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Eduardo Garcia officiating. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.

Mr. Castaneda
Johnny Castaneda, 29, of Papalote died on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville.
He was born Aug. 8, 1977, in Beeville to Paula Soto and Arturo Castaneda Sr. He was an electrician and a Pentecostal.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Baca of Beeville; his parents; one daughter, Mariana Rodriguez Castaneda of Beeville; two sons, Andy Baca and Daniel Martinez, both of Beeville; three sisters, Ida Shaulis and Darlene Castaneda, both of Papalote, and Teresa Fuentes of Skidmore; two brothers, Arturo Castaneda Jr. and Joshua Castaneda, both of Skidmore; maternal grandmother, Anastacia Soto of St. Paul; and paternal grandmother, Maria Castaneda of Skidmore.
Prayer services were held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Trevino Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held there at 2:30 p.m. today (Saturday) with Pastor Fernando Gonzales officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be Arturo Castaneda Jr., Joshua Castaneda, Andy Baca, Johnny Moreno, Ray Soto, Samuel Castaneda, Chris Garcia and Rene Cantu.

Mrs. Darter
Frankie Lee (Lela) Darter, 85, of Beeville, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2007.
Lela was born on May 24, 1921, in Beeville to the late Jesse L. Oliver and Sarah Ureste Oliver. She graduated from Nazareth Academy in Victoria in May 1940, and married Eugene (Gene) Morris Darter in Victoria on May 9, 1946. She was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Beeville and was a member of Providence Presbyterian’s Women Study Group. She was previously employed at Victoria Bank & Trust, America Bank in Corpus Christi, and Sunshine Florist in Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1970; and a sister, Lois Oliver Caddel in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Darter Spence (Mark), and Kerry Darter May (Robert); one niece, Jane Caddel Brewer (Rayford); one sister, Gloria Oliver Quinones; a brother, Jesse George Oliver (Terry); and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Spence officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, Beeville, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. Garcia
Mr. Eliseo Garcia, 101, of Skidmore died on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville following a brief illness.
Mr. Garcia was born Feb. 8, 1906, in San Diego to the late Ramon and Abelicia (Santellana) Garcia.
Survivors include seven daughters, Herminia Lara, Dora (Pablo) Gonzales, Sara (Agapito) Gonzales and Guadalupe (Lauro Jr.) Gonzales, all of Skidmore, Lucia Garza and Lorenza Salinas, both of Beeville and Baudelia (Bob) Hanson of Corpus Christi; four sons, Arturo Camargo of Kentucky, Adolfo (Delia) Camargo and Jose (Anita) Garcia, both of Beeville and Daniel Garcia of Bloomington; 54 grandchildren, 147 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by three brothers, Crispin, Anestacio and Isidro Garcia; five sisters, Carmela, Espidia, Micaela, Sara and Maria Garcia; one daughter-in-law, Isabel Camargo; three sons-in-law, Victor Lara, Teclo Garza Sr. and Tomas Garcia; and one son, Enrique Cantu.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Trevino Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. McQueen
Lorena McQueen, 94, died at an area nursing home on Thursday, March 8, 2007.
She was born to Frank and Minnie (Butler)  Jones on Sept. 13,1912, in Talequah, Okla.
Survivors include her children, Pearl Rylie of Three Rivers, Frances McMullen of Corpus Christi and Lois Boeck of Oakville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was to be held on Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers. Funeral Services will be held today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church of Three Rivers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help defray expenses.

Mr. Ramirez
Ramon Jesus Ramirez, 76, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2007.
He was born in Clareville to Andrea Perez and Jose Ramirez on Oct. 17, 1930. He was self-employed as a construction worker and was Pentecostal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Andrea Ramirez; one brother, Patricio Ramirez; and one sister, Corina Moreno.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosa Ramirez of Houston; five sons, Rolando, Raul, Ramiro and Ramon Ramirez, all of Houston, and Romaldo Ramirez of Dallas; and four siblings, Solme Ramirez of Beeville, Sofia Guerrero of Houston, Lupe Ramirez of Alvin and Rafela Delatorre of Victoria.
Visitation was held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at San Pedro Cemetery in the Clareville community with Rev. Salvador Rincon officiating.

Mr. Rodriguez
Procopio Rodriguez Jr., 77, of Beeville died on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Woodridge Nursing Home.
He was born on July 12, 1929, in Beeville to Antonia Gonzales and Procopio Rodriguez Sr. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Francisca Lara Rodriguez; his parents; and one son, Procopio Rodriguez III.
He is survived by eight daughters, Tina Rivera of Beeville, Marie (Ernest) Villarreal of San Antonio, Mary Ellan Martinez and Enamencia Barrera, both of El Paso, Gloria (Pedro) Gaytan and Charlotte (Danny) Fernandez, both of Houston, Patricia (Albert) Hinojosa of Brownsville and Irene (Johnny) Mendoza of San Diego; seven sons, John (Belinda) Rodriguez and Gerardo Rodriguez, both of Beeville, David (Blanca) Rodriguez and Oscar Rodriguez, both of San Antonio, Raymond Rodriguez of Weatherford and Dickie (Pam) Rodriguez and Alfred Rodriguez, both of Burleson; one sister, Chavela (Valentin) Amador of Beeville; one brother, Antonio Rodriguez of Beeville; 36 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 2 p.m. today (Saturday) with Rev. Flover Ozorio officiating. Interment will follow at Mineral Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his sons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Mrs. Ybarra
Flora Ybarra, 78, of Beeville died on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the family residence.
She was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Pettus to Dominga Perales and Pablo Carrillo. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aurelio Ybarra; and one son, Rodney Ybarra.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Jesse) Carbajal of Ennis, Mary Jane Ybarra and Amy Ybarra, both of Beeville, and Diane Ybarra of Leander; five sons, Robert (Nila) Ybarra of Minnesota, Ray Ybarra of Coppell, Ruben Ybarra of Corsicana, Rudy (Becky) Ybarra of Victoria, and Randy (Tina) Ybarra of Beeville, two sisters, Sofia Longoria and Maria Garza, both of Beeville; one brother, Felipe Carrillo of San Antonio; 35 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was to be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the Trevino Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Saturday) at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment will follow at Pettus Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Ybarra, Oscar Franco, Jesus Mendoza, Rudy Ybarra Jr., Luis Carabajal and Danny Joe Herrera Jr.

Mrs. Aguirre
Julia S. Aguirre, 77, of Pettus died on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, in Corpus Christi.
She was born in Kenedy on Jan. 7, 1930, to Elvira Castilla and Humberto Saenz Sr. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Alfredo Aguirre.
Survivors include two daughters, Irma Ahumada of San Antonio and Sylvia Aguirre of Pettus; two brothers, Humberto “Beto” Saenz Jr. of Beeville and Esmeraldo (Frances) Saenz of El Paso; and two grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Interment followed at Pettus Cemetery in Pettus.

Mrs. Avery
Mary Yeager Avery, born September 17, 1930 in Velasco,  Texas, passed away November 20, 2007.
Mrs. Avery is survived by her husband, Paul Avery; daughters: Donna Avey of Anchorage,
Alaska, Marsha Kulpa and Beth Ann Signor of Austin, and Nancy Davis of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and sister Thelma Lyon of New Hampshire.
Mary will be remembered as a loving mother and wife of 59 years. As a lifelong learner, she received a Bachelor of Arts of Geography at the University of  Texas at San Antonio in 1989. As a lover of the arts, Mary especially enjoyed vocal music. Her favorite hobbies were floral
design, home decorating, and writing her autobiography.
The family received friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 23rd at Coker United Methodist Church. Celebration of Life was held Friday, November 23, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Road. Interment followed in
Mission Burial Park North.
