Jose Jimenez
Jose Jimenez, 75, of Andrews died November 15th at Regency Hospital of Odessa.
He was born December 29, 1929 in Rocksprings to Rafael Lozano Jimenez and Santiaga Jimenez. He married Paula Perez on August 11, 1949 in Sanderson. They moved to Plainview in 1971 and then to Andrews in 1992. He was a self employed sheep shearer. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he was a member of Legion of Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Jimenez of Andrews; one son, Juan Jose Jimenez of Lubbock; one daughter, Amelia Lopez of Lubbock; three brothers, Juan Jimenez of Round Rock, Rafael Jimenez of Austin and Julius Jimenez of Katy; two sisters, Amelia Losolla and Teresa Zepeda of Austin; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Reverend Bernard Gully officiating. Burial followed in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Arrangements were by McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Nancy Colleen Applewhite
Nancy Colleen Applewhite, 47, of Leakey,  Texas died March 4, 2006 at her home in Leakey. She was born May 26, 1958 in Uvalde,  Texas to John Hugh Applewhite and Carolyn Ann Nelson Applewhite.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Colleen Keeler of Uvalde,  Texas and Kathryn Claire Keeler of San Antonio,  Texas; three sisters, Claire Joyce Bearden of Temple,  Texas, Dana Leah Page of Arizona, and Florence Ann Applewhite of Arizona; four great-aunts, Ella Iona Ivy and husband Jim of Vanderpool,  Texasxp, Mary Kathyrn Cook and husband Doug of Sabinal,  Texas, Nena Colleen Thompson of Arizona, Sarah Viola Nelson of Fredericksburg,  Texas; nieces and nephews, Iona Rose Reagan and family of Uvalde,  Texas, Samuel Jay Garza of Uvalde,  Texas, Dana Garza of Uvalde,  Texas and Michael Jay Bearden of Temple,  Texas.
Memorial services were held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Leakey,  Texas.

Genoveva “Janie” Van Winkle
Genoveva “Janie” Van Winkle, 71, of Rocksprings,  Texas died October 2, 2007 at her home in Rocksprings. She was born January 16, 1936 in Rocksprings to Felipe Samora and Luz Verdusco Samora.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Felipe and Luz Samora; daughter Gail Ann Van Winkle and granddaughter Lauren Ashley Taylor; five sisters: Maria Inez Ruiz, Manuela Hernandez, Magdalena Palacio, Modesta Samora and Virginia Rameriz.
She is survived by children: Alicia Avila, Elias Barrera, Sr., Garrett Oines and Sierra Oines all of Rocksprings; Eddy Van Winkle and Michael Van Winkle of Junction,  Texas; Bill Van Winkle of Boerne,  Texas; Peggy  Taylor of Austin,  Texas; Rick Van Winkle of San Angelo,  Texas; Tommy Van Winkle of Sonora,  Texas; La Vina Van Winkle of Seattle, WA and Zena Van Winkle of Temple,  Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchidlren; one brother Eloy Samora, Sr. of Rocksprings; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held Friday, October 5, 2007 in the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Rocksprings with burial in the Rocksprings Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elias Barrera, Jr., Cody Van Winkle, Michael Van Winkle, Jr., Billy Van Winkle, Jr., Garrett Oines, Derek Van Winkle, Spencer Manley and Ryan Van Winkle. Father Ken Dakin officiated the services.
Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings,  Texas.

Joy Dee Jernigan Owens
Joy Dee Jernigan Owens, 77, of Del Rio,  Texas died November 15, 2006 at the Val Verde Memorial Hospital. She was born June 17, 1929 in Barksdale,  Texas to Neal Jernigan, Sr. and Bessie Raney Jernigan.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents Neal and Bessie. She is survived by husband Thurman W. Owens of Del Rio; one son Mike Hatley of Uvalde,  Texas; grandson Michael Hatley, Jr and wife Stephanie of Houston,  Texas; sisters Peggy Jernigan Scott of Dallas,  Texas and Ginger Jernigan Schneider of Uvalde and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Lee McKinnerney, Michael Hatley, Jr., Forrest Hatley, Jr., Kelly Gant, Wally Rains and Gaylon Sweeten.
Honorary pallbearers were Harly Wood, Presley Hatley, Alvin Connell and Joby Connell.
Services were Saturday, November 18, 2006 in the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Camp Wood,  Texas. Interment was in the Barksdale Cemetery with Pastor Greg  Johnson officiating.
Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Homes of Camp Wood,  Texas.

Jacinta M. Gonzales
Jacinta M. Gonzales, 21, of Rocksprings,  Texas died February 27, 2006 in Kerrville,  Texas. She was born March 29, 1924 in Rocksprings to Donato Mora and Francisca Saldana Mora. She was preceded in death by her husband Pablo Gonzales, parents Donato Mora and Francisca Saldana Mora, brother Jose Mora and sisters Rosa Ramirez and Romona Villarreal.
She is survived by a son Efrain Gonzales and wife Toni of Big Lake,  Texas; daughters: Dulia Samora and Amelia Arispe and husband Silverfio all of Rocksprings, Romona Escobar and husband Angel of San Antonio,  Texas, special daughter Mine Galindo and husband Rene and special son Pablo Arispe and wife Lorena all of Rocksprings; 27 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in the Church of the Living God of Rocksprings with Orlando Venegas officating and burial followed in the Rocksprings Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sammy Samora, Bobby Samora, Benji Hadge, Steven Arispe, David Arispe, Gerry Escobar, Rene Galindo and J.R. Escopbar.

Jack Burrell
Jack Burrell, 73, of LaBelle, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at his home.
Jack was born in Beaumont to Walter and Louise Devillier Burrell on July 26, 1932 and resided in the LaBelle area his entire life. Jack was a civil contractor, rice farmer and lastly a rancher. In his later years he divided his time between his residence in LaBelle and his ranch in Rocksprings.
Jack is survived by his wife, Grace Burrell of LaBelle; daughter Paige Pate and her husband Dennis of Lucas; sons, Todd Burrell and his wife Janine of LaBelle and Brad Burrell of LaBelle, stepdaughters, Bobbie Garcia and her husband Marvin of Silsbee and Sandy Watson and her husband Rudy of Gainesville; stepson, Robert Reynolds and his wife Valerie of Silsbee; brother, Eugene Burrell and his wife Sandra of LaBelle; mother-in-law, Rose  White of Beaumont; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial following at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends was from 4:00 p.m. until 7: 00 p.m. Thursday, October 27 at the Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocksprings Volunteer Fire Department, Rocksprings,  Texas 78880 or Hamshire-Fannett Education Foundation, P. O. Box 223, Hamshire,  Texas 77622.
Jack was well known by many in the Southeast  Texas and Rocksprings area and will be missed by all.

Lena Mae Bienek
Lena Mae Bienek, 70, of Rocksprings,  Texas died June 9, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Channelview,  Texas.
She was born September 3, 1934 in Smithville,  Texas to James J. and Mae Gunter.
On April 3, 1948, she married Queenteen M. Bienek through the Justice of the Peace in Luling,  Texas. and on April 29, 1950 they had a religious wedding in the Roman Catholic Church in Luling,  Texas. He preceded her in death of July 3, 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Queenteen M. “Sam” Bienek, Jr. of Rocksprings and Stanley Bienek and wife Romana of Rocksprings; four daughters, Shirley Ann Rhodes and husband Dusty of Channelview, Carolyn D. Chancy of Channelview, Sharon K. Skinner of Channelview, Marilyn Wilbanks and husband Steve of Channelview; two brothers, Robert J. Gunter and Butch Gunter; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12th in the Rocksprings Cemetery with Father John Fiala officiating.
Pallbearers were Billy Pace, Billy Wooley, Tiger Askew, Bobby Nichols, Pat Potter and Melvin Jones.
Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings.

Jo Dell Brice Chisum
Jo Dell Brice Chisum, 79, of Leakey,  Texas died June 17, 2005 at Alpine Terrace Nursing Home in Kerrville,  Texas. She was born September 26, 1926 in Vance,  Texas to Ben Marcus and Vera Lee Brice.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joseph H. Chisum, and one brother Harold Brice.
She is survived by two sons: Larry Joe Chisum and wife Patricia of Leakey,  Texas and Billy Ray Chisum and wife Molly of Leakey,  Texas; four grandsons: Devin and Scott Chisum and Billy Joe Ray and Jonathan Banks Chisum all of Leakey,  Texas; two brothers:  Jackson Brice and wife Patsy Rose of Leakey,  Texas and Billy Joe Brice and wife Linda of Leakey,  Texas; two sisters: Jo Ann Fisher and husband Norris of Leakey and Libby Suttle of Leakey,  Texas; sister-in-law: Ella Ruth Brice of Uvalde,  Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jo Dell will be greatly missed by all.
Graveside services were held Sunday, June 19, 2005 in the Chisum family cemetery in Leakey,  Texas with Rev. Harvey W. Hulse officiating.
Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home of Leakey,  Texas.

Susan Ann Murrell
Susan Ann Murrell, 62, of Bridge City and Rocksprings,  Texas died June 20, 2005 in Edwards County,  Texas. She was born December 17, 1942 in Alexandria,  Louisiana to Lloyd and Irene Murrell.
She was preceded in death by her father in 2002.
She is survived by her mother, Irene Murrell of Bridge City,  Texas; son, Walter Dewayne Dryden of  Louisiana; daughter, Anita Ann Dryden of Colorado; brother, Lloyd Murrell, Jr. of  Louisiana and companion, Tiny Richardson of Bridge City,  Texas.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 24, 2005 at 10:00 in the Coleman Cemetery in Day Prong,  Louisiana.
Arrangements are by Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings,  Texas.

SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Miami, with Rev. Brent Thornton, pastor of the First Christian Church of Miami, and Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of the Hunt Memorial United Methodist Church of Dumas, officiating.
BURIAL: Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Underwood was born February 12, 1959 in Pampa. She was a 1977 graduate of Miami High School and attended  Texas Tech University in Lubbock and McMurry College in Abilene. She received her associate degree in interior design from TSTI in Amarillo in 1982. She married David Underwood on July 31, 1982 in Miami. She owned and operated Designs by Katie in Miami for 5 years and later worked for Roberta's Flowers in Pampa for several years. For the past 5 years, she had served as curator of Roberts County Museum. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Miami and the Miami Chamber of Commerce.
SURVIVORS: Husband: David Underwood of the home. 1 Son: Cameron Underwood of the home. Mother: Ina Lee Seuhs of Miami. Brother & Sister-in-Law: Joe Bill & Teda Seuhs of Miami. 2 Nieces: Lacee Seuhs of San Marcos and Lauren Seuhs of Levelland, as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Seuhs on April 6, 2002.
