BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Winegeart was born December 10, 1926 in Wheeler County,  Texas. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1951. He married Wanda Dudley in 1959 and she preceded him in death in 1989. He later married Yvonne Howdeshell in 1996 at Pampa. He worked for Mundy Corporation for 23 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Wife: Yvonne of the home. 1 Son: Jackie Lee Winegeart of  Washington. 4 Step-Daughters: Pat Tucker of McKinney, Karla Gray of Howe, Paula Locke of Troop, and Kathy Clements of Sanger. 3 Brothers: L. J. Winegeart of Lindale, Gene Winegeart of  Oklahoma, and Doyle Winegeart of Edmond,  Oklahoma. 10 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren.

Floy Jean Mikeal Jackson

SERVICES: 10:00 AM Friday, October 4, 2002, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Barry Loving, pastor, officiating.

BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mrs.  Jackson was born May 17, 1925 in Putman,  Texas. She had been a resident of Pampa for 56 years. She graduated salutatorian, summa cum laude, of Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth,  Texas. She married Eschol Jackson, who was her high school sweetheart, and they were married for 60 years. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church for 55 years. A homemaker, she had been active in PTA, Sunday School children's classes, Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF), Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Mrs. Jackson's primary love was her family and her dog, Dustin Lee. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She spent many years with her "girls" in Girl Scout Troop 41, teaching and leading them to become girls of good character. She was truly loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny B. & Nellie Mikeal of Fort Worth.

SURVIVORS: Husband: Eschol of the home. 1 Son: Eugene  Jackson of Amarillo. 1 Daughter: Mollie Reeves and husband Kevin of Grand Junction, Colorado. 4 Grandchildren: Shane  Jackson and wife Amy of Alvin,  Texas; Shawn  Jackson and wife Bobbie of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Kevin Benjamin Reeves and Alyssa Reeves, both of Grand Junction, Colorado. 3 Great-Grandchildren: Tiffany  Jackson of Alvin,  Texas; and Erin  Jackson and Austin Jackson, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

John B. Zuerker, Jr.

DIED: October 1, 2002, in Midland,  Texas

SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2002, at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa,  Texas, with Rev. Barry Loving, pastor of the First Christian Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Zuerker was born January 21, 1910 in El Campo,  Texas, to John & Rose Zuerker, and his childhood was spent in Lincoln, AR. Prior to his retirement, John was a lease operator with Mobil Oil for 42 years and was a farmer and rancher in Pampa,  Texas where he raised his family. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Pampa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Madge Zuerker.

John is survived by his sons, Jack Zuerker and his wife Tommie, and Joe Zuerker and his wife Lisa; daughters Jan Mattox and her husband Jess, and Jill Henry and her husband Bill; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Malenda Fay Kinslow

SERVICES: 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Fines Marchman, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Skellytown, officiating.

BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Kinslow was born December 19, 1939 in Ford City,  Texas. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1969. She married William "Pete" Kinslow on August 8, 1954 in Crowell. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1998. She was a nurse at Highland General Hospital, retiring after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Assembly of God.

SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Belinda Nolte and Vickie Long, both of Pampa. 1 Son: Jerry Kinslow of Happy. 3 Sisters: Beatrice Woodward, Adeline Allsup and Mildred Morrow, all of Crowell. 5 Brothers: Charles Durham, Elbert Durham, Hubert Durham and Jerry Durham, all of Crowell, and Melton Durham of Burlington, Colorado. 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren.

E. R. Sikes

SERVICES: 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Hobart Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Powell, minister, officiating.

BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Sikes was born July 29, 1921 in Stephenville. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1948. He was a foreman for heavy equipment operations in pipeline construction for Nelson-Sikes, Inc., for 39 years, and he then worked for D. E. Rice in Borger for approximately eight years, retiring in 1998. He married Alicia Jo Pratt on October 28, 1962 in Clayton, New Mexico. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II, and was a member of the Hobart Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Sikes on August 26, 2002.

SURVIVORS: Wife: Alicia Jo Sikes of the home. 2 Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Terry L. & Belinda Sikes of Lexington, Kentucky, and David R. & Ruth Sikes of Phoenix, Arizona. 1 Daughter & Son-in-Law: Janna E. & Keith Hampton of Foster,  Oklahoma. 1 Daughter-in-Law: Rhonda Sikes of Pampa. 4 Grandsons: Jonathan Sikes, Bobby Sikes, Eric Sikes and Aaron Sikes. 4 Granddaughters: Nicole Sikes, Sarah Sikes, Emily Callen and Katlyn Hampton.

D. C. Conklin

DIED: December 6, 2002, in Pampa,  Texas

SERVICES: The body was cremated and no services are pending at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Conklin was born September 8, 1930 in Graham,  Texas. He was a 1948 graduate of Pampa High School. He spent most of his life in Plainview, moving there in 1953. He was a self-employed pipeline engineer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Conklin in 1971.

SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Derrell D. Conklin of Pampa, and Brad R. Conklin of Las Vegas, Nevada. 1 Brother: Bill Conklin of Lubbock. 2 Sisters: Mary Lee Osborne of Pampa, and Barbara Chambers of Hawkins. 1 Granddaughter.

Kay Coombes Smithers

DIED: January 31, 2003, in Pampa,  Texas

SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2003, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Dan Chaney, Central Church of Christ minister, and Billy Dale Meadows, Church of Christ minister, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Smithers was born December 25, 1922 in Girard,  Texas. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1922, graduating from Pampa High School. She married N. B. (Rod) Smithers on August 29, 1942 in Pampa. He preceded her in death in 1996. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator for 34 ½ years. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter & Son-in-Law: Kay & Darryl Hughes of Pampa. 2 Grandchildren: Ryan Hughes and Andrea Hughes, both of Pampa. 1 Brother: A. P. Coombes. She was preceded in death by her parents, K. & Rosa Coombes, and 2 brothers, H. T. Coombes and L. J. Coombes.

J. W. Campbell

NAME: J. W. "Jim" Campbell, 71

DIED: January 31, 2003, in Amarillo,  Texas

SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, February 3, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of the United Methodist Church of McLean, and Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Campbell was born November 5, 1931 in Pampa. He was a lifelong resident of Pampa, graduating from Pampa High School in 1950. He received a B.S. degree in agricultural economics from  Oklahoma A & M College in 1955 with honors, where he served as Cadet Colonel. He married Anne Moseley on July 22, 1951 in Pampa. He was heavily involved in ranching, oil & gas, investments and banking. He was a former co-owner and stockholder with the First National Bank in Wheeler, Citizens Bank & Trust in Pampa, First State Bank of Miami, and First State Bank of Canadian. He was very active in the Republican Party and was former 18th Congressional District Chairman, and Republican District Committeeman of the 31st Senatorial District. He was closely involved in campaigns for Jack Seale, Barry Goldwater, Bob Price, Ronald Reagan, Paul Eggers, Bill Clements, John Tower, John Connally, George Bush, Phil Gramm and Mac Thornberry. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1968 and one of two Special Ambassadors to Mauritania in 1976. Both of his parents, W. R. (Bob) Campbell and Jenkie Collins Campbell, were members of early pioneering Panhandle families. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: Wife: Anne of the home. 2 Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Bob & Martha Campbell and Don & Sue Campbell, all of Pampa. 7 Grandchildren: Brandon Campbell, Benjamin Campbell, Elizabeth Campbell, Bill Campbell, Kathryn Campbell, Chris Campbell, and Victoria Campbell, all of Pampa. He was preceded in death by a son, William David Campbell in 1974.

BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Anderson was born November 5, 1910 at Roby,  Texas. She had been a Pampa resident since 1929. She married Grant Anderson on September 25, 1930 at Portales, NM. He preceded her in death April 24, 1998. She and her husband owned and operated City Shoe and Boot Shop and later Anderson's Western Wear from 1930 until 1982. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cynthia Lewter Harrington and by 8 brothers and sisters:Thad Elmus Johnson, Vada Florence Day, Edna Pauline Rogers, Lillie Emma Smith, Lewis Williamson Johnson, William Merritt Johnson, Arvil Armond Johnson, and Bessie Lucille Thornton.

SURVIVORS; 1 Daughter: June Anderson Lewter of  Oklahoma City. 1 Sister: Faye Stallcup of Wichita Falls. 1 Grandson: Robert L. Lewter and wife Sherry of  Oklahoma City. 1 Great- Granddaughter: Robin Lea Lewter of  Oklahoma City. 1 Great-Grandson: Michael Roger Harrington of Odessa, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Lola Warren Thompson

BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Thompson was born September 13, 1909 in Coryell County,  Texas. She married Gerald Thompson on September 28, 1924 in Osage,  Texas. He preceded her in death in 1985. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1951. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. She was a former manager of the Pak-A-Burger in Pampa, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Thompson in 1973, 2 sisters, Pearl Graham in 1986 and Ada Hord in 2001, and 1 brother, Marvin Warren in 1998.

SURVIVORS: 5 Sons: George Thompson and Douglas Thompson, both of Pampa, Jess Thompson of Midland, Jerry Thompson of Houston, and Dwight Thompson of Groom. 2 Daughters: Jean Finley of Longview, and Naomi Lamb of Lubbock. 1 Brother: Willis Warren of Andrews. 3 Sisters: Annie of Clifton, Bernice of Andrews, and Charlene of Spearman. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
