Mach
Laddie Mach, 75, of the Simmons community, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, in a Corpus Christi hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Mach was a WWII veteran, serving in the Air Force. He was retired from his job as an oilfield worker.
Survivors include one son, Donnie Mach of Belton; two daughters, Cindy Ann Keliehor and Cathy Peterson, both of Alice; two brothers, Eddie Mach of Needville and Emil Mach of Longview; two sisters, Mildred Pasteka of Needville and Vlasta Bubenik of Stafford; six grandchildren, Kristel Schwintz, Amber and Chance Peterson, and Tommy, Bryan and Stephen Mach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 14, in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral was held Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Burial followed in the Simmons Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chance Peterson, Tommy Mach, Shane Teague, Mark Mach, Gerald Teague, Andy Peterson and Michael Keliehor.
Honorary pallbearers were Ira D. Redding and George Fischer.

Goza
John Maynard Goza Sr., 63, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will take place Friday at 10:30 a.m. at that location, with the Revs. Ken Walker and Brian Simon officiating. Special music will include “In the Garden” and “In His Time,” with vocalist Ron Bissett.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Tim, Warren, Jennie, Andrea and Nicki Goza and Robyn Delgado. Honorary pallbearers will be W.J. Kidd, Hollis Scott, Walter Henry, Rex Lewis, Charles Freeze, Garland Bramblett and Lt. Ben Anderson.
Mr. Goza was born on Feb. 2, 1940, to John Irving and Jennie Lucille Goza. He married Ruth Ellen Walker on Dec. 5, 1958, in Normanna Baptist Church. He was a meter technician for Arco Oil and Gas and retired in 1992 after having worked there 26 years. He then went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he worked in transportation as a driver for five years. He was a member of Normanna Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ellen Walker Goza of Normanna; two sons, John Maynard Goza Jr. and wife Sheryl and Timothy Wade Goza and wife Betty, all of Normanna; a sister, Helen Bissett and husband Ray of Beeville; seven grandchildren, Robyn Delgado and husband Kirk of Beeville, Jennie, Andrea, Tim, Nicki and Erik Goza, all of Normanna, and Warren Goza of Brookshire; and two nephews, Ron Bissett of Weslaco and Rick Bissett of Houston.
Memorials may be sent to the Normanna Baptist Church.

Perkins
Mable Rebecca (Jackson) “Becky” Perkins, 61, of Ganado, died Thursday, July 24, 2003.
She was born Nov. 7, 1941, to James Frank and Anna Mae (Lloyd) Jackson in Laredo. She married Franklin Ed Davis in 1958. She later married Ronnie Perkins on July 2, 1988, in Florida.
Mrs. Perkins was a secretary, employed by H.B. Zachry from 1979 to 1985. She was a member of the Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by her first husband, Franklin Ed Davis; her second husband, Ronnie Perkins; two daughters, Patricia Davis of Austin and Vivian (Scooter) Davis of George West; four stepdaughters, Misty Perkins, Brittany Perkins, Sharron Perkins and Sylvianna Perkins; four sons, Jimmy D. (Donna) Davis, Fred Lee (Fanny) Davis, Aubrey (Missie) Davis and Rodney Jay Davis, all of George West; and one stepson, Ronnie Perkins. She is also survived by two brothers, Ronnie Jay Jackson and Rodney Ray Jackson; three stepsisters, Catherine Jackson, Billie Jackson and Carol Jackson; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Ganado Funeral Home in Ganado. Burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna, with the Rev. Ronald G. Edwards officiating.
Pallbearers were Jason Peters, Alex Douglas, Todd Thompson, Patrick Panel, Kenneth Nairn and Marvin Curtis. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Hospice of South Texas.

Waller
Clarella (Freeman) Waller, 89, of Jourdanton, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2003, in Jourdanton.
Mrs. Waller was born on Dec. 13, 1913, in Oklaunion, Okla., to Amanda and Ranse “Shorty” Freeman. She was the eldest of 11 children.
Mrs. Waller married Leonard H. “Skinnie” Waller on Oct. 3, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, R.W. Freeman and A. Allison Freeman; and three sisters, Rose Ella Freeman, Patricia “Pige” Fuller and Mary Alpha Robison.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna Maureen (Robert) “Bob” Capt of Plano and Mary Kathryn (John) “Butch” White of Jourdanton; one brother, Carl Walton (Jeanette) Freeman of Three Rivers; four sisters, Ethyl Hickman of Corpus Christi, Ivas Joan (Harry) Smith of Morgan City, La., Janice Engle of Blanco and Jane Zavisch of Three Rivers; a sister-in-law, Virginia R. Freeman of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Waller is also survived by six grandchildren, Emery Capt, Dianna (Capt) Varieur, Robert L. Capt, Barbara ( White) Broll, Kathy Jo ( White) Franklin and Debbie White; and eight great-grandchildren, Christina Boggs, Angie Capt, Anna Capt, William P. Capt, Landry Carlton, Casey Broll, Gage Franklin and Haleigh Franklin.
Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2 to 8 p.m. this evening (Wednesday). The funeral service will be at First Baptist Church in Three Rivers at 10 a.m. Thursday, with Weldon Harris officiating. Interment will be at the Three Rivers City Cemetery.

Guerrero
Antonia (Chapa) Guerrero, 77, of Corpus Christi, formerly of Live Oak County, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Guerrero was born in Live Oak County on July 16, 1926, to Manuel and Micaela (Fuentes) Chapa. She married Belisario Guerrero in September 1946, in George West. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Corpus Christi.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; her brother, Uvaldo Chapa; her sister, Delfina DeLa Rosa; and one great-grandson, Joey Contreras.
Survivors include two sons, Oscar (Frances) Guerrero of Corpus Christi and Orlando (Connie) Guerrero of George West; three daughters, Nelva Diana Guzman, Norma (Steve) Prue and Amanda (Javier) Pinon, all of Corpus Christi; four brothers, Endercio Chapa, Lucio Chapa, Manuel Chapa and Ismael Chapa, all of George West; one sister, Eva Lopez of George West; seven grandchildren, Carlos R. Guerrero, Doris A. Guerrero, Amanda Pinon, Veronica Guerrero, Benjamin Guzman, Bernardo Guzman and Christopher Guerrero; and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Andrew, Kaleb and Adrian.
Visitation was held Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Rosary was recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the chapel.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Special music included “Amazing Grace” and other traditional Catholic hymns played by Barbara Bednorz.
Pallbearers were Benjamin Guzman, Bernardo Guzman, Carlos R. Guerrero, Christopher Guerrero, Manuel Chapa III and Endercio Chapa Jr. Burial followed in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Hindes
Tommy Hindes, 97, of Charlotte, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, in Pleasanton.
Mrs. Hindes taught school in various school districts since 1924, spending the last 31 years in the Charlotte School District. She was active in ranching in McMullen and Atascosa counties. Mrs. Hindes was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the First Baptist Church of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nora Kuykendall; brothers Charles Kuykendall, T.R. Kuykendall Jr., Robert Kuykendall; and sisters Madlyn Kuykendall, Mary Willie May, Grace Graham and Maxine Snowden.
Survivors include a daughter, Lou Madelyn Cook of George West; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Doug) Munke, Clara Cook and Cynthia (Allen) McCain; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda and Melissa McCain and Jennifer Munke.
Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Hilltop Cemetery in Tilden.

Katzfey
Wilfred N. Katzfey, 81, of George West, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Mr. Katzfey was born on March 25, 1922, in Taft, to Bernard and Mary Katzfey. He married Rita Ledwig on June 22, 1948, in George West. He served a tour of duty in Sudan, Africa, with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Katzfey, along with his brothers, built, owned and operated Katzfey Bros. Inc. — a grain elevator, feed mill and hog operation. He was involved with the bulldozing contracting, clearing many acres in Live Oak County. He also owned and operated several ranches in Live Oak County.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rita L. Katzfey; his parents; four brothers, Martin, Pat, Urban and Leonard Katzfey; and one sister, Catherine Katzfey.
Survivors include one son, Mark (Edie) Katzfey of George West; two grandchildren, Andrew and Alison Katzfey of George West; one sister, Marie Mason of Sepulveda, Calif.; one niece, Charlene White of George West; and other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. George, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial followed in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert White, Quentin White, Shayne Katzfey, Steve Mason, Lee Wallek, Jim Tyree, Tom Moses and Guy James.

Furr
Bea Furr, 97, died Monday, July 21, 2003.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 5 to 9 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers, and the funeral service will be held at that location on Thursday at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Mrs. Furr and her husband, Zeb Furr, married in 1929, and moved to Live Oak County where she spent the rest of her life. In 1965, she founded Bea Furr Bookkeeping along with the H&R Block franchise for Live Oak and McMullen counties.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, five sisters and daughter-in-law Mary Louise Furr.
Survivors include a brother, W.A. Johnson; a sister, Lois Fern Reece; her children, Zeb and wife Doris Furr, Jo-An and husband Ronnie Booth, Freda and husband Edgar Sawyer, and Barry and wife Jo Bridges; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Guthrie
Margie N. Guthrie, 60, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Corpus Christi. Mrs. Guthrie was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Sweet Home to Charles A. and Annie (Sevcik) Balusek. She married Jimmie E. Guthrie in Corpus Christi on March 26, 1962.
Mrs. Guthrie lived in Oakville and Corpus Christi. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a bookkeeper for L.L. Harris Grocery since 1963.
Visitation was held Friday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral was Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Three Rivers with the Rev. Arnold Moede officiating.Burial followed in the Oakville Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie E. Guthrie of Corpus Christi; a son, Rex (Julie) Guthrie of Buda; a daughter, Roxanne (Larry) Epperson of Oakville; five grandchildren, Kayla Epperson, Brett Epperson, William Guthrie, Amanda Guthrie and Nathan Guthrie; and three brothers, Ervin Balusek of New Braunfels, Lester Balusek of Robstown and Carl Balusek of Comfort.
