Shirley Elizabeth McBroom

Shirley Elizabeth McBroom, age 77, of Bonham,  Texas passed away February 10, 2006 at Clyde Cosper TX. State Veterans Home in Bonham. Chapel services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 13, 2006 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham. Interment will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, officiating will be Rev. Morris Robbins, assisting will be Dr. James Randy McBroom. She was born on July 7, 1928 in Fannin County,  Texas, the daughter of the late Sidney & Ruth Eva Moore Anderson. Shirley was married to James D. McBroom on September 30, 1946 in Bonham,  Texas. She was involved in youth baseball & received many awards for her involvement in Cub Scouts. She was an active member in Edhube Baptist Church.

She is survived by husband James D. McBroom of Bonham, TX.; son Dr. James Randy McBroom & wife Dana of Bonham, TX.; grandsons Joshua McBroom & wife Sara of Bonham, TX., Mark McBroom of Bonham, TX.; step grandson Chad Burns & wife Jennifer of Bellevue, NE.; step granddaughter Jennifer Stevens of Sherman, TX.; great grandchildren Ravena Stevens, Ethan Burns, Hayley McBroom, Peyton McBroom & Stetson Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Justice, Gary Justice, Joe Cox, Mark McBroom, Brad Justice, George Charles, Joe Pilliod, Tye Justice & Chance Justice.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ann & Dump Hazelip, Deleen & Lilly Peeler, Charles & Virginia Turbyfill, Paul & Maxine Denton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday night at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Dan Gray McAnally

Dan McAnally, age 83, of Bonham,  Texas passed away February 14, 2006 at the V.A. Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Chapel services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 20, 2006 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Interment will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, officiating will be Rev. Sallie Watson. Mr. McAnally was born on January 29,1923 in Bonham, TX., the son of the late Henry Barnett & Dewey Belle Swope McAnally. Dan married Lulu Lee Gregory on May 20, 1951 in Quanah,  Texas, she preceded him in death on June 1, 1995. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bonham.

Dan McAnally was loved be everyone. He touched many people throughout his life. He was a simple, thought-filled man that led a simple life. He accomplished much during his lifetime which included being an accomplished musician of the violin, saxophone, piano, and the clarinet. During his younger days he often played alongside his mother Dewey Belle and brother Henry at the First Christian Church in Bonham. He was also a member of the Engineering staff at  Texas Instruments from 1949 through retirement. During these years he was instrumental in the emerging technology of the Laser-Guided Weapon Systems and the Under-water Acoustic Enemy Detection Systems, among numerous other achievements while employed at  Texas Instruments. Dan also served as a consultant to the University of  Texas Southwestern Medical School, assisting in the establishment of a Medical Electronics Laboratory. He was also a member of the IEEE, Member of the Acoustics Society of America. He held a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from  Texas A & M University. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Survived by son Gregory McAnally & wife Leialoha of Lahaina, HI.; son Michael McAnally & wife Renee of Denison, TX.; daughter Leeann McAnally-Boles of Sherman, TX.; grandchildren Kealamea Caitlin McAnally, Brandy Dobbs, Zack Boles, Kali, Krista McAnally & Kaia Baechet; great grandchildren Jacob Dobbs & Emily Grace Dobbs.

Friends may pay condolences during normal business hours at the funeral home.

Jerry Don Miller

Jerry Don Miller , age 58, passed away March 6, 2006 at his residence in Bonham,  Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10am Wednesday March 8, 2006 at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery in Moore‘s Chapel Community under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin Lane. He was born August 5, 1947 in Bonham,  Texas to David & Mamie Joe Goyne Miller. He married Linda Kay Welch in Bonham on November 2, 1968. He was a contractor & a member of the Bois’ D’ Arc Creek Cowboy Church.

He is survived by wife Linda Kay Miller of Gober, Tx.; son Rance Miller & wife Dana of Bonham, Tx.; son Cody Miller of Bonham, Tx.; brother Joe David Miller & wife Donna of Bonham, Tx.; sister Linda Hearne & husband Marty of Dallas, Tx.; 3 grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the graveside.

Memorials may be made to Bois’ D’ Arc Creek Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 405, 3301 S. Hwy 121, Bonham, Tx. 75418 or American Cancer Society: Betty Tarpley, 295 S. Hwy 78, Bonham, Tx. 75418.

Virginia Mae Minchey

Plano - Funeral services for Virginia Mae Minchey, age 74, of Plano will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 17, 2006 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Rick Schulze, interment will follow in Carson Cemetery in Ector. Mrs. Minchey passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at her residence. She was born on December 5, 1931 in Ector,  Texas, the daughter of the late Thurmon and Minnie M. Holcomb Allen. Mrs. Minchey was a retired property manager and a member of the Ector Methodist Church.

She is survived by a Son - Jerry Minchey & wife Wanda of Martindale, TX.. Daughter - Malea Griswold of Sachse, TX.. Brothers - “Pete” Thurmon Allen & wife Pat of Allen, TX and Larry “Ducky” D. Allen of Farmersville, TX.. Sisters - Dorothy Long & husband Thurmon of Ector, Betty Caldwell of Bonham and Hannah Sue McDonald of Bonham. 5-Grandchildren and 4-Great Grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Brother - Huel Wayne Allen.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

William Chesley Maxey

William Chesley Maxey, age 87, of Telephone, Tx. passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Paris Regional in Paris. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Telephone Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone, Tx. under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home. Mr. Cody Nelson & Mr. Bill Spann will officiate. Mr. Maxey was born in Prosper, Tx. on August 6, 1918 to John Edward & Elizabeth Bell Maxey.

He married Dorothy Lorraine Duncan on November 15, 1937 in Durant,  Oklahoma. Mr. Maxey was retired from Temco Aircraft. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years & a member of Telephone Baptist Church

He is survived by son David Maxey & wife Nell of Telephone, Tx.; daughter Norma Brewer & husband Clyde of Hemp Hill, Tx; grandchildren William Todd Maxey, Tammie Lorraine Shaw, Laurie Brewer Walls, David Wesley Brewer, Lisa Brewer Felske & Leah Brewer Stone; great grandchildren William Hunter Maxey, Lindsay Dawn Maxey, Kassie Danielle Shaw, William Shaw, Landon Miller, Blake Brewer, Megan Brewer, McKensie Brewer, Alyssa Stone, Nicholas Stone & Emma Felske; sister Sherrill Huston of McKinney, Tx.

Preceded in death by wife, parents & sister Dean Maxson.

Pallbearers will be Steve Reed, Jess Moore, Bill McCullough, Jerry Magness, Larry Felts & Mayfield McCraw. Honorary Pallbearers will be Red Baugh, Pete Baugh & Perry Davis.

Family will receive friends from 7-8pm Wednesday night at the funeral home.

Lennie Belle Meadows

Savoy - Funeral services for Mrs. Lennie Belle Meadows, age 96, of Savoy will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham. Officiating will be Rev. Leon Martin and Rev. LeRoy Spradling, interment will follow in Fannin Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Meadows was born in 1909 in Bonham,  Texas, the daughter of the late Jim and Pearl Smith Thornton. She was married to Jesse Meadows in 1926 in Bonham, he preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker and member of the Nazarene church.

She is survived by Son - Alvie Meadows of Bonham. Daughters - June Hamilton and Antha Joe Toney & husband Billy all of Bonham. Grandchildren - Ray Northcutt of Bonham; Jackie Thomas of Sherman; Gary Thomas of Seymour; Pattie Warren of Paris; Emma Schwartz of Sherman; Vickie Copeland of Venis, TX,; Beverly Campbell of Irving and Jesse Pannell of Willington, CT. and 20 Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Tuesday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Pallbearers will be Ray Northcutt, Jared Northcutt, Gary Thomas, Jackie Thomas, John Snead and Wayne Snead.

FRANCILE NEELY

Edna Francile Neely of the Self's Community was born Jan. 17, 1928 near Honey Grove to Johnny Hershel & Agatha Grace Walker Emmons. She passed away at the age of 76, Sat. May 29, 2004 at East  Texas Medical Center-Athens in Athens, TX.

Mrs. Neely was a Seamstress and retired from Vassarette Manufacturing Company in Paris,  Texas. she was a member of First Baptist Church of Honey Grove and was also a graduate of Honey Grove High School.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Neely were 2:OOP.M. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Chapel in Honey Grove. Officiating minister was Rev. Glynn Tyson of First Baptist Church, Honey Grove. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove. Pallbearers were Stewart Richardson, Ethan Richardson, Phil Surles, Jim Churchwell, James Nichols and Milton Page

Honorary Pallbearers were Wayne Holmes, Jimmy Doyle and Harvey Lynn Milton. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Neely of the home, Daughter & Son in Law, Dr. Jean Gilbert Surles and husband Phil of Malakoff, TX. Daughter Lou Churchwell and husband Jim of Ennis, TX., Grandson, Wayne Granberry & Grand daughter, Tiffany Churchwell, Sister, Mary Holmes, 3-nieces & 1-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dola Bell

Edith loma Newingham

Bonham - Service for Mrs. Edith loma Newingham, age 78, of Bonham will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham. Officiating will be Mr. Fred Fowler and Mr. David Johnson. Interment will follow in Arledge Ridge Cemetery near Bonham.

Mrs. Newhingham passed away Sunday night at her residence. She was born on October 3, 1926 in Fannin County, the daughter of the late James Martin and Letha Viola Caldwell Young. Mrs. Newhingham was married to Frank Alton Newingham on July 24,1942 in Bonham. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her Husband - Frank Newingham of the home. Son - James Alton Newingham & wife Shirley of Lewisville. Daughter - Brenda Joan  Taylor of San Antonio. Grandchildren - Shelley Herriage Walker & husband David; Chris Herriage, Frank Alton Newingham & wife Kristalyn; Damon Taylor; Amber Taylor; Delilah Olk & husband Greg; Dana Barton and Jimmy Windle & wife Katrina. Great Grandchildren - Patrick  Taylor Walker, Ryan Hess, Natalie Olk, Faye, Joshua, Emma, Jesse and Kenly. Sisters - Eunice Morgan and Lois Hall. Pallbearers will be members of the DAV.

The family will receive friends from 7-8PM Wednesday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Bonham- Robert "Bobby" Wayne Pearson, age 39, passed away Monday, May 24, 2004, at his residence. Chapel services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, with Judge Derrell Hall officiating.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1964, in Bonham,  Texas.

Surviving are wife Lisa Kelly Pearson of Bonham,  Texas; stepchildren Robert Wade Bloodworth of Honey Grove, TX., Dylan Wyatt Bloodworth of Bonham, TX.; mother & stepfather Molla & Carl Brown of Gatesville, TX.; brother Shane Dockery & wife Robyn of Dodd City, Tx.; grandmother Lucille Hall & husband Johnny of Mulberry Community; step sister Amanda Arguellez & husband Buddy of Belton, Tx.; nephews Zane & Clayton Dockery and nephew D.J. Brown; father in law Sam Kelly of Bonham, Tx.; and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins

The family will receive friends at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home at 1:00p.m., prior to the service, Friday, May 28`h, 2004.

Bertha Estelle Bridges Payne, age 86, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Northeast Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 at Fannin Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bonham, TX. , with Bro. Gene Owen officiating.

Bertha was born on December 27, 1917, in Fannin County, TX.. daughter of William Coley and Sallie Leeth Bridges. She attended school at Shady Grove in Fannin County. Bertha was a life long resident of Fannin County, living in Hooks, TX. for a short period of time. She had been residing at the Bonham Nursing Center. She was a retired seamstress formally employed by Bonham Manufacturing. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Bonham, TX. Bertha married J.T. 'Jake' Payne on February 1, 1945 in Bonham, Tx. He preceded her in death on January 25,1998.

Survived by two sisters, Mildred Bridges of Dodd City, TX., and Lois Sorrell of McAlester, Ok., two brothers Paul Bridges and J.B. Bridges of Dodd City, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Lester, Oscar and Cecil, 4 sisters Flossie, Claratine, Mamie and Pauline.

The family will receive friends at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX. 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the service, Friday, June 25th, 2004.

Forrest Porter

Bonham - Funeral services for Mr. Forrest Porter, age 91, of Bonham will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham. Officiating will be Mr. Carl Dye, interment will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Mr. Porter passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005 in Denison. He was born on November 4, 1913 in Ector, the son of the late W.D. and Stella Louise Bryant Porter. Mr. Porter was married to Edna Earle Hope Porter, she preceded him in death on February 19, 1985. He was a life long rancher in Bonham and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Porter served in the Army Air Force during World War II, 47th Bombardment Squadron in the Southern Pacific including the Gilbert & Marshal Islands and Okinawa. He received the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He is survived by Children - Gary Michael Porter of Dallas; Karen Mays & husband Gary of Emory; and Ken Porter & wife Beth of Bonham. Grandchildren - Dustin Mays of Austin; Blake Mays and Lauren Mays both of Emory; Erika Porter and Dylan Porter both of Bonham. Sisters - Blanche Hunter of Bonham and Helen Sims of Ft. Worth. Brother - Edwin Porter of Grand Prairie. Several Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by Brother - Weldon Porter.

Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Monday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Hazel D. Payne

Lamasco - Hazel D. Payne, age 87, of Lamasco Community, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Wilson N.  Jones Hospital in Sherman,  Texas. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Dye. Interment will follow in Lamasco Cemetery.

Hazel was born July 1, 1918 in Decatur,  Texas to Earl & Pearl Robinson. She married Charles Payne on April 30, 1939 in Tulia,  Texas. She was a loving homemaker and ranchers wife of 66 years. She loved life, her children & grandchildren. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Bonham. Survived by husband Charles Payne of the home; daughter Vesta & husband David Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Melba & husband W.C. DeWitt of Ft. Worth, TX.; son Curtis & wife Katherine Payne of Crum, TX.; daughter Lynda & husband Lewis Hamilton of Bells, TX.; son Kyle & wife Mary Payne of Lamasco, TX.; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister Earlene Maddox of Lubbock, TX.; & 1 nephew.

The family will receive friends 4pm Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at the family home in Lamasco. Mrs. Payne will lie in state Thursday prior to service at the Funeral Home.
