Bonham -Funeral Services for Mrs. Louise Smithey, age 81, of Bonham will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 19, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Bonham. Officiating will be Rev. Morgan Malone & Chaplain Alan Mattingly, interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, TX.. Mrs. Smithey passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004 in Clyde Cosper TX. State Veterans Home in Bonham. She was born on June 14, 1923 in Normangee, TX. the daughter of Covey & Area Holden Windsor. Married for 58 years to Albert Smithey in Kerrville, TX. on May 8, 1946.

Mrs. Smithey, in 1941 Graduated Normangee High School in Normangee, TX, 1944 Graduated St. Mary's Nursing School in Galveston, TX., 1944 Entered U.S. Ar-my Nurse Corps-served in Guam and the Philippines in WWII- Medals: Meritorious Unit Emblem, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze service star. WWII Victory Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII; in 1946 Honorable Discharge from U.S. Army; 1946 Surgery Nurse at V.A. Hospital in Kenville, TX; 1950 Attended the University of  Texas; 1952 Operating Room Supervisor at the V.A. Hospital, Bonham, TX. (was hired to set up the operating room facility prior to the opening of the hospital); in 1966 retired from the V.A. Hospital, Bonham;1966 Wilson N.  Jones Hospital, Sherman, TX., & in 1972-1994 Continued to give health care services to private individuals. Mrs. Smithey was also a member of the Normangee Baptist Church in Normangee, TX.

She is survived by Husband A.C. Smithey of Bonham, TX.; son Charles Smithey & wife Virginia of Mountain Home, TX.; son Royce Smithey & wife Gayle of Bonham, TX.; grandchildren Debra Baird, Don David Stewart, Donna Duffee, Russell Smithey, Matt Smithey & Michael Smithey; great grandchildren  Taylor Baird, Tanner Baird, Brooke Smithey, Nathan Smithy & Kaycee Baird; brother Billy Windsor of Kerrville, TX; sister Dorothy Martin of Friendswood, TX.; brother Thomas Windsor of Kerrville, TX; 11 Nieces & Nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, & brothers Joe Windsor, Dalton Windsor & Covey Windsor.

Pallbearers will be Don David Stewart, Russell Smithey, Matt Smithey, Michael Smithey, Jimmy Baccus & Steven Duffee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen Ray Smithey, Larry Windsor, Charles Weeks, Frank Spencer, Bill Spencer, Kenneth Moore, & A.P. Merillatt. The family will receive friends at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham at 7PM on Thursday, November 19, 2004.

Alma Skipworth

Bonham-Alma Skipworth, born September 9, 1921 to John Thomas and Julie Mae Hampton departed this world to her heavenly home on January 24, 2005. She was married to Eugene Patrick Pilliod, who preceded her in death, and she later married Edward (Bud) Skipworth. She was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her two children Sandra Eagleton of Bonham and Donald Pilliod of Fort Worth, three grandchildren, Elaine Long of Denison, Shawn Eagleton of Houston and Lisa Weiershausen of Weatherford and two great granddaughters, Heather Long of Sherman and Megan Weiershausen of Weatherford.

Mrs. Skipworth was a member of Northside Church of Christ. Alma was retired from Safeway and  Texas Instruments, and as a senior citizen she worked at the Sam Rayburn Library for several years. She later resided at Grand Hands of Texoma until her death.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2005 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Pallbearers will be Donald Pilliod, Walter Eagleton, Shawn Eagleton, Michael Bearden and Willie Cottrell. Memorials may be made to the Grand Hands of Texoma, 160 Orchard Rd., Denison,  Texas 75020

Gerald Edward Beall Sledd

Bonham - Funeral services for Gerald Edward Beall Sledd, age 62, of Ivanhoe,  Texas will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Trinity Baptist Church in Bonham. Burial will follow at Willis Cemetery in Willis Community,  Oklahoma at 3:30pm. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Schulze. Mr. Sledd passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Dubuis Hospital in Paris,  Texas. He was born on April 5, 1942 in Tulsa,  Oklahoma., the son of Estelle J.R. Beall & Marjorie Louise Matson. God blessed him with a stepfather Leelywn Sledd at the age of ten.

He married Euvonna Sledd, September 8, 1962 in Willis,  Oklahoma. Mr. Sledd was the owner of Team Manufacturing in Bonham, TX.. He attended Murray State College where he received a degree in engineering. He was a member & Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Bonham. Also a member of The Baptist General Convention & a member of Texoma Workforce.

He is survived by wife Euvonna Sledd of the home; daughter Deborah Diane Nation & husband Randy of Paris, TX.; son Derald Sledd & wife Monica of Bonham, TX.; mother Marjorie Louise Sledd of Bonham, TX;. Stepfather Leelywn Sledd of Bonham, TX.; stepmother Virginia Beall of Melbourne, Florida; brother David Lee Beall of  Oklahoma City, Ok.; stepsister Jeannie Lacy of Palmbay, Florida; 4 grandchildren Madison, Zachary Chase & Jessica Nation; mother-in-law Mildred Rozena Looney of Bonham, Tx.; brother-in-law Jessie Lloyd Looney of Kingston,  Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Jason Castle, Joey Lawson, Anthony Mosley, Jimmy Lappin, Tom Steinhauser & Alan Andrew.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Stewart, Jim Early, Steve Godbey, Jim Lorance & John Eskew.

The family will receive friends from 7-8PM Friday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Mary Spann

Bonham - Graveside services for Mary Spann will be held at 2:OOPM Friday, April 1, 2005 at Bigbee Cemetery near Telephone. Officiating will be Rev. Bret Castle. Mrs. Spann passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in IHS of Texoma in Shennan. She was born on March 2, 1918 in Bigbee Community, the daughter of the late Robert Fulton and Mamie Dodson Bigbee. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her Sons - Bobby Spann of Dallas; Gene Spann of Mesquite; Hebert Spann and Billy Spann both of Telephone; and David Spann of Paris. Daughter Marilyn Sears of Tom Bean. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 PM, Thursday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

HOWARD C. SPILLER

DODD CITY - Graveside services for Mr. Howard C. Spiller, age 92, will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Dodd City Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Gene Owen and Rev. Richard Leathers. Mr. Spiller passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005 in the Dallas VA Hospital. He was born on January 20, 1913 in Dodd City, the son of the late Joseph Leach and Mattie Adline Cooper Spiller. Mr. Spiller was married to Velma McKinney on October 21, 1939 in Dodd City, she preceded him in death on December 16, 1991.

Mr. Spiller was a farmer and carpenter. He attended school in Brotherton, was a life long member of the Dodd City Baptist Church and the VFW. He served in the Army during World War II, having served in Hawaii, Sipan, and Tinian Islands. He is survived by Son - Albert Spiller & wife Gilda of Bells. Granddaughters - Karla Sandavol & husband Carlos of Muskogee, OK and Nikki Stephens & husband Toney of Bells. Great grandchildren - Mychael & Alex McWhorter of Muskogee, OK. and Sidney & Ben Stephens of Bells. Brother - Roger Spiller of Ft. Leavenworth, KS.. Numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters - James Spiller, J.Q. Spiller, Paulene Coburn, Faye Herriage and Lorene Murello.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Pallbearers will be C.Q. Spiller, Randy Spiller, Mike McWhorter, Toney Stephens, Carlos Sandavol and Roy  White.

Mr. Spiller was an avid animal lover and he was devoted in his later years to his cat. Memorials may be made to Friends of Fannin County Critters in his memory.

Lucille Page Stampley

Hail Community - Lucille Stampley, age 85, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Clyde W. Cosper Veterans Home in Bonham,  Texas. She was born March 17, 1920, to R.L. and Lydia M. Page in  Oklahoma. She graduated from an  Oklahoma City Business College prior to entering Baylor University School of Nursing, from which she graduated in 1945. Upon graduation, Lucy began working at Baylor Hospital as an operating room nurse. She then completed the Baylor University Medical Center School of Anesthesia Program and was awarded her C.R.N.A. Certificate in 1951. In 1972, Lucy became Director of the School of Anesthesia for Nurse Anesthetists, a position she held until her retirement in 1983. Her love of nursing was not only demonstrated by her continuing career at Baylor Hospital for 41 years, but is probably best expressed by her own comments when she was named the Director of the School of Anesthesia for Nurse Anesthetists: `My past years at Baylor have been rewarding and rich, and I would choose it again. I have found fulfillment of the design and purpose of my life. The desire to contribute in a small way service to my fellow man has been realized. There have been valleys to descend and hills to climb, but these have been a challenge." Lucy was a life-long learner and took Bible classes at Baylor University. She enjoyed using her knowledge teaching Bible studies to others. She and her husband were charter members in the creation of the South Garland Baptist Church in Garland,  Texas. Upon retirement, Lucy and Wes, moved to the community of Hail Fannin County,  Texas. It was there that Lucy developed her talent of painting, taking classes and working diligently to hone her artistic skills. Her hobbies included needlework, photography, and finding subjects for her paintings. She is survived by her husband, Calvin Wesley Stampley, whom she married October 2, 1945. Other survivors are a sister; Eula May Leonard, niece; Markeeta Edwards and husband, Doug, nephews; Wesley Lee Leonard and wife Ginger, and Johnny Leonard; five great nieces and two great nephews. And other loved ones and friends.

Funeral services for Lucy will be at 10:00am, Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Windom,  Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Morris Robbins and Rev. Dave Cash. Burial will be at the Providence Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Orville Todd, Jerry Gray, Neil Taylor, Johnny  White, Albert  White and Wayne Burk. Honorary Pallbearers are Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Windom.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cooper- Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham,  Texas.

Ann Sears

Ravenna - Ann Sears, age 75, died June 21, 2005 at Wilson N.  Jones Hospital in Sherman,  Texas. She was born June 19, 1930, in Suwanne, Georgia to the late John Thomas & Charlotte Ellen Gilliland Gunter. She married William Glenn Sears on October 4, 1947 in Humboldt, Nevada. He preceded in death on Dec. 29, 1993.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bonham.

Survivors are daughters Lora Sears of Ravenna TX. & Glenda Sears of Bonham, TX.; granddaughter Paige Towery of Ivanhoe, TX. & Lindsay Wilson of Bonham TX.; grandson Kyle Sears of Bonham TX.; 2 great grandchildren Gabriel Towery of Ivanhoe, TX. & Bryce Wilson of Bonham, TX.; brothers J.T. & Earnest Gunter of Georgia; sister Myrtie Turner of Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Sears, Kyle Towery, Sean Wilson, Glyn Thomas, Phil Ferguson & Steve Hasten.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 24, 2005 at Cooper - Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham,  Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Henry Bucher. Burial will be in Arledge Ridge Cemetery.

The family received friends from 7-8 pm Thursday night at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Harold Stroud- Bonham

Harold Verne Stroud, age 73, of Bonham passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday June 16, 2005 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX. Bro. Morris Robbins will officiate. Burial will follow in Hampton Cemetery, Edhube, TX.

Mr. Stroud was born February 26, 1932 to Coy Hudson & Lucille Couzens Stroud. He was a graduate of Bonham High School and attended Kansas University, where he enjoyed playing football. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Life Member of Edhube Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon. He married Ann Rogers on November 5, 1955 in Bonham. He retired from Ben E. Keith Company. Survivors are wife Ann Stroud of the home; daughter Carol Ann Amlin and husband Ronnie; son Dean Stroud and wife Gayle; daughter Jennifer Kirkpatrick and husband Bobby; He was a beloved Granddad to: Garrett Amlin and wife Jodi, Justin Stroud, Laura Amlin, Kara Stroud, Clint Stroud, Rachel Stroud,  Taylor Kirkpatrick, Logan Kirkpatrick and Allison Kirkpatrick; brother Richard Stroud and wife Letha of Kennesaw, GA. and several nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Justin Stroud, Clint Stroud, Garrett Amlin, Logan Kirkpatrick, Bobby Kirkpatrick, Ronnie Amlin & Drew Eakins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen Wait, Jimmy Alexander, David Lehde, Donald Blevins, Bud Crockett, Leroy Morris & The Deacons of Edhube Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends Thursday, June 16, 2005, 1 hour prior to service at the Funeral Home.

Joe Mack Shipman

WINDOM - Joe Mack Shipman, 72-year-old Windom resident, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at the Sam Rayburn VA Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Dave Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in the Bartley  Woods Community.

Surviving are his sisters, Wanda Tolliver of Paris, Billie Hayes of Amarillo and Betty Noah of  Washington.

Varna Sangster

Varna Sangster, age 101of Telephone,  Texas passed away January 9, 2006 at Mullican Care Center in Savoy,  Texas. Services will be held at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home on Thursday January 12, 2006 at 2pm. Officiating will be Bro. Bill Thorton and Rev. Billy Neal Jr. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone,  Texas. Varna was born in McNab, Arkansas on April 26, 1904 the daughter of Clark Moore and Barbara Bolt Bell. She had two brothers and four sisters. Varna and her family came from Arkansas to Mosley,  Oklahoma in a covered wagon where they hauled lumber for about 2 to 3 months. They were looking for work and came to  Texas. They went to Deport and Detroit,  Texas and worked on a farm. Then they went to Honey Grove and picked cotton for awhile and came to Telephone.

She met Luie 'Duke' Sangster in 1919. They both went to Mayfield School, north of Telephone, which is now gone. They went together for 10 years & were married on September 8, 1928 in Belton,  Texas. They bought a 113 acre farm in Telephone in 1943. They had about 5 acres of the best blackberries and people came from everywhere to get some. They were married for 63 years and 1 week when Duke died on September 15, 1991.They had 5 daughters, Lavell Hawkins, Jewellene Sangster, Imogene West, Jorene Collinsworth, Neta Jo Sangster. She loved for her loved ones & friends to visit her at the care center and was always happy. She loved to attend the singings and the sermons at the care center and hardly ever missed them when she was able to attend. She was always ready to go to any activity they had at the care center and made many friends. She was a member of Telephone Baptist Church.

Her grandson Carl Ray and Danny Collinsworth will be providing the music whith her favorite songs.

Survivors are her brother Clyde Bell of Giddings,  Texas; sister Elsie Clowers of Houston,  Texas; daughters Lavell Hawkins of Bonham,  Texas, Imogene West of Bonham,  Texas, & Jorene Collingsworth of Ivanhoe,  Texas; 14 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren & 29 great great grandchildren & 3 great great great grandchildren.

Proceded in death by Husband Luie Duke Sangster; brother Floyd Bell; sisters Maudie Craig, Ada Mae Williams, & Hattie Terry; daughters Neta Jo Sangster & Jewellene Sangster; grandchild David Graham; great grandchild Quenton Orr; and great great grandchild Jason Haggerty.

Mrs. Sangsters grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 7-8pm Wednesday January 11, 2006 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham,  Texas.

She was a wonderful mother & grandmother. She will be miss by all.
