Sue Maxwell

Sue Maxwell, 65, of Wildwood, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 at Mid- Jefferson Hospital in Nederland. Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Broussard's in Nederland with Rev. Eldon Reed officiating with committal services to follow at Broussard's Crematorium in Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends were held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mrs. Maxwell was a native of Shelbyville, and lived most of her life in the Ivanhoe and Wildwood area with a short time in Nederland. She retired from Mobil Oil Company as a clerk in the accounting department with 23 years of service. She was also a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Maxwell and her brother, John Mack Green. She is survived by her two daughters, Molly Raines and husband Mark of Nederland, and Donna Quebedeaux and husband Jimmy also of Nederland; two sons, Danny Maxwell and wife Tracy of Nederland an d Casey McCollum of Hillister; one sister, Mary Frances Baker of Beaumont; eleven grandchildren, Justin Coshman, Garrett Raines, Casey Maxwell, Kristin Maxwell, Gracin McCollum, Truett McCollum, Nicole Quebedeaux, Richard Galloway, Nick Walters, Matthew Walters, and Caitlyn Quebedeaux; three great grandchildren, Katelyn Maxwell, Kaylee Maxwell, and Savannah Maxwell. Services were under the direction of Broussard's Nederland Funeral Home.

Landon Ray Curtis

Landon Ray Curtis, born Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 and passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 in Colorado Springs, CO. Graveside services were held Sunday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m. in the Gardner Cemetery near Warren. Landon is survived by his mother, Stacie Loving of Florissant, CO; father, Greg Curtis of Village Mills; and brother, Gregory Curtis of Florissant, CO. Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Vera Wigley Jordan

Vera Wigley Jordan, 71, former longtime resident of Tyler County, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 in Brownwood. Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Woodville. Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.Vera was born Sept. 11, 1932 to Fred Burton and Arie Ling Wigley in Egypt, Tx. She had lived in Tyler County for the past 28 years before moving to Brownwood. She has been a cosmetologist. She is survived by her son, Alvin Edward Jordan of Brownwood; daughter and son-in-law, Vera Christine and Frank De Vooght of Del Valle; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Lillian Wigley of Woodville; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Woodville-- Graveside services for Mary Lou Craven, 74, were held Jan. 17, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Rockland City Cemetery in Rockland, under the direction of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, with Brother Curtis Harrington officiating. She passed away Jan. 15, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was born Jan. 16, 1929 in Port Arthur, to Stanley Balsamo and Niary Mannino, she lived in Tyler County most of her life and she was a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Louise D. Powell and William Powell both of Dam-B, Mark A. Powell of Colmesneil, Johnny H. Craven of Houston, Christine Martin of Beaumont, Madeline Rogers of Vidor, Carmen Winters of Kountze, Tina Landry of Madisonville and Eva Hatcher of Colmesneil; two brothers, Russell Balsamo of Crystal Beach and Chris Balsamo of Nederland; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Services under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Warren-- Graveside services for Agnes Adell Carter, 94, were held Jan. 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Cemetery in Warren, under the direction of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, with Brother Kenneth Cauthen officiating. She passed away Jan. 13, at Dogwood Trails Manor. She was born April 4, 1909 in Elkhart, to Glen G. Stanley and Bessie Moore, she lived in Warren 43 years and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis W. Carter and one grandson Brad Walker. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Phillips of Warren; three sons, Wiley Walker and wife Nancy of Charlotte, NC, Nelson Walker and wife Linda of Corpus Christi, and Dennis Carter and wife Joann of Converse, LA; brother, W. J. Stanley and wife Bea of Port Neches; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Warren-- Funeral services for Doris Cleo Gober, 74, were held Jan. 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Riley Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Jason Boudreaux and Brother Randal Pike officiated. Burial followed at Swearingen Cemetery in Warren. She passed away Jan. 14, at her residence. She was born July 25, 1929 in Fred, to Chester Columbus Yawn and Johnnie Allen, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her son Morris Leo Spell. Survivors include her husband, Billy Gober of Warren; daughters, Sandra Day of Silsbee and Melissa Riley of Fred; son, Daniel Spell of Fred and step son, Roger Gober of Warren; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Terry Spell, Brent Day, Bo Payne, Chow Jones, Brandon Day and Ricky Payne. Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Danny E. Walton, 71, of Colmesneil, passed away on Jan. 2, 2004 at his residence. Dan was born May 2, 1932 to John Glen and Willie Charlene Walton of McLeod. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Sue Walton of Colmesneil; 2 sons, Danny Jr and wife Brenda of Lafette, LA and Tracy of Magnolia; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Pat Hays of Houston; step-children, Sonja Bloty of Houston, Kim Garza of Blanco and Cindy Forte of Haslet; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ned Walton of Bryan and Bice Walton of The Woodlands and 3 sisters, LaVern Goir of Eagle Point, Oregon, Ann Davis of McLeod, and Nell Weisinger of Longview. Arrangements were held under the direction of McGuire Funeral Home in Viniar, LA. Grane. Grave side services were held at the Walton Cemetery in McLeod on Jan. 4 at 2 p.m.

Mildred Catherine Graham Webb

Mildred Catherine Graham Webb, 72, of Woodville, passed away Jan. 18, 2004 at her residence. Born Aug. 26, 1931 in Kenefick, to Isaiah and Bernice Bishop Graham. She lived in Upshur County, before moving to Woodville 1 year ago. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Webb is survived by her husband of 44 years, L. V. "Virgil" Webb; daughters, Terry Head and husband, Arland of Baton Rouge, LA and Annette Morino and husband, Joe of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers, Travis Graham of Cocoa, FL., Albert Graham of Woodville, Clyde Graham of Rathum, Idaho, Noel Graham of Spokane, WA and James Earl Graham of Seattle, WA; sisters, Delores Nolan of Woodville, Millie Ruth Gillen of Marquiz and Daine Frazier of Woodville; grandchildren, Aubrey Head of Bradenton, FL, Harmony Head, Salace Head, Trice Head, Conan Head and Juliette Head all of Baton Rouge, LA, Nicholas Morino and Carissa Morino both of Scottsdale, AZ. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ronald Vickers officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. at Kenefick. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Katherine Patton

Katherine Patton, 77, of Woodville, passed away Friday, April 9, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day of Saints in Woodville with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville. Pallbearers were provided by the Woodville Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of which she was a member.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 11 at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Katherine was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Bertram, and grew up near Brady. She was a former resident of Bryan and had lived in Tyler County for the past 26 years. She was a retired counselor with the Woodville ISD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie D. Patton, on Oct. 5, 1990 and her infant great grandchild, Zac Anthony Stricklin on Jan. 30, 2004. She is survived by her sons, Gery Patton of Orange County, CA, and Layne Patton of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Sherrie Patton Hughes of Bryan; grandchildren, Alan Patton, Kristen Hughes, Adam Hughes, Melissa Hughes Stricklin and Barrett Hughes; and great grandchild, Kristen Katherine Stricklin.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Jo Evelyn Wiltz Woolley

Jo Evelyn Wiltz Woolley, 71, of Lufkin passed away April 7, 2004 at the Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin.
Born July 8, 1932 in Port Arthur, to Lee Wiltz and Freddie Snell, she was a native of Warren and had lived in Lufkin for many years. She was a retired sales clerk and a member of the St. Pauls United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Woolley of Lufkin; mother, Freddie Mae Williford of Beaumont; sister, Dorothy Edgar of Beaumont; daughters, Diana Haralson of Warren, Deborah Hansen of Beaumont and Donna Bridgers both of Nederland; three grandchildren, Alicia King of New Orleans, Brian Haralson of Warren and Christopher Bridgers of Nederland; six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Don Hanson, Chris Bridgers, Christopher Bridgers, Billy Haralson, Brian Haralson and George Scroggins.
Funeral services was held Saturday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Rev. Jamie Lea officiating. Burial followed at Fellowship Cemetery in Warren.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Frank Joseph Dumont
April 18, 2004
Frank Joseph Dumont was born on Oct. 2, 1925 in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Navy 1941-1946 advancing to Musician First Class Petty Officer. He is a veteran of World War II and The Korean War and is an Iwo Jima survivor. The Dumont Family moved to Woodville in 1973 and later owned and operated Dumont Electric Motor Repair. After retiring in 1989, he and his wife, Edith, traveled annually to Montana to serve as Campground Hosts. Frank passed Saturday afternoon, April 10, 2004 in his Harmony home. A private family ceremony was held Tuesday morning at Riley Funeral Home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edith Dumont; sons, Frankie Dumont, Jr. and Curtis Mahaffey; daughters, Diane Wroblewski, Cindy Hynek, Jenny Henson, and Jill Grissom; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Tyler County Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary or the Allen Shivers Library.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Helen Grimes
April 18, 2004
Helen Grimes, 75, of Mont Belvieu was surrounded by her loving family when she departed this life on Thursday, April 8, 2004 in a Houston Hospital. She was born in Woodville, on Feb. 25, 1929 to Esca and Vida Watts Dean. On July 22, 1949, she married the love of her life, J. W. Grimes, whom she had met while they were both in the fifth grade. After moving to Mont Belvieu, Helen worked 20 years with the Barbers Hill Independent School District as bookkeeper and administrative secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mont Belvieu.
Preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Luther Dean and sister, Frances Hamerly; she is survived by her loving husband of more than 54 years, J. W. Grimes of Mont Belvieu; sons, Terry G. Grimes and his wife Patti of Pearland, and Tommy D. Grimes and wife Margie of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Sgt. Matthew Grimes, USMC and his wife Ellie of Yuma, AZ, Wesley Grimes of Mont Belvieu, Jason Trevino and Tim Trevino both of Pearland; great grandchildren, Hayden Grimes and Haley Grimes; brothers, Kenneth Dean and his wife Marilyn of El Paso and Charles Dean of Opelousas, LA; sister, Jewel Sturrock of Baytown; brother-in-law, Bobby Hamerly of Nederland; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dean of Temple, and Lila Shivers and husband Jerry of Anna.
Her family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 12, at L. A. Crespo Funeral Directors, 6123 Garth Road. Rev. Raymond Parker officiated at a graveside service at the Mt. Pisgah Community Cemetery in Woodville on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Arrangements entrusted to L. A. Crespo Funeral Directors. Local arrangements by Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Ruth Lilly Brown Huddleston
April 18, 2004
Ruth Bron Huddleston, 75, of Woodville passed away April 8, 2004 at her residence.
Born Sept. 7, 1928 in Clayton, W. Y. to Evert Day and Viola May Allen. She lived in Woodville many years and was a homemaker. She was an active member of Hilltop Baptist Church, V. F. W., Disabled Vet. and M. H. M. R.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Brown and son, Orville Brown.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Campbell and husband Mike of Woodville; sister-in-law, Tommie Fielder of Beaumont; brothers, Evert Day, Jr. and Robert Day both of California; grandchildren, Robert, Michael and Lisa; great grandchildren, Frankie, Victoria, Tyler and Jessica.
Pallbearers were Robert Campbell, Jimbo Callaway, Jimmy Walker, Pete Dabill, Jim Gunter and B. J. Fussell.
Funeral services was held Saturday, April 10, at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Brother Tommy Walker and Brother David Barker officiating. Burial followed at Ferrell Cemetery.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Mildred "Sue" Sutton
April 18, 2004
Mildred "Sue" Sutton, 68, of Katy, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sue was a loving servant of Christ. How appropriate she went to be with her Savior and her husband for Easter. Born in Colmesneil on Nov. 29, 1935 on her mother's 44th birthday, to the union of Annie and John B. Mann, she was a devout wife, mother, "nana" and friend.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 46 years, Jimmy E. Sutton, and brothers, William A. Mann and Samuel D. Mann. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne and her husband, Joby Sawyer; daughter, Carolyn and her husband Wiley Sides; sister, Mary Blanche Anglin; brother, Tom Mann and wife Mary; sister, Peggy Manry and husband Fred; sister Patsy Sutton and husband Billy; granddaughters, Kate and Lauren Sides and grandsons, Jordan and Justin Sawyer along with many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Sue was a graduate of  Texas Women's University, majoring in music. She was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church for over 40 years. She touched the lives of many, many people through her generosity, her humor, her love for life, family and friends and her tireless energy.
The family will welcome visitors on Wednesday, April 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 15 at 1 p.m. at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Drive, with Reverends Lester Collins, Duane Brooks and Larry Bertrand officiating. Additional services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 16 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, in Woodville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Tallowood Baptist Church 555 Tallowood Drive, Houston, TX 77024.

Johnie Mae Richardson

Mrs. Johnie Mae Richardson, 73, of Kountze died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 12, at the Green Pine Missionary Baptist Church in Kountze with burial in Cold Springs Community Cemetery in Cold Springs under the direction of Coleman's Tyler county Funeral Home in Woodville.
She was a native of Cold Spring and lived in Kountze Haynes Settlement Community for a number of years.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband, Cloid Richardson of Kountze; daughter, Shirley Jean Williams of Kountze; son, Floyd Richardson of Beaumont; a very special friends Mrs. Orine Wortham of Kountze; three sisters, Betty Bailey, Berdia Burton, and Billie Freeman all of Cold Springs; two brothers, Dave Reece of Galveston, and James Reece of Houston; one granddaughter, 5 grandsons, one great great granddaughter, and a host of other relatives and friends.
