Edrey Sue Williams

Edrey Sue Williams, 82, passed away May 12, 2004 at her daughters residence in Van Vleck, following a long illness. Sue was born on July 1, 1921 in Edgerly,  Louisiana to parents William Edward and Effie Bell Williams. She was a life-member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron of Crosby Lodge #261. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck and in her later years loved gardening, church, and spending time with her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Bertis (Jack) Bell, her sisters, Ella Mae Fountain and Wanda Allen, and a brother, Marvin E. Williams. She is survived by a daughter, Shearl McIntosh; granddaughter, Mary Parker and fiancee Greg Case, and granddaughters, Ashley and Kimberly Parker, all of Van Vleck; a sister, Nowyta Badgley of Haines, Alaska; nieces, Ann Odom of Warren, Barbara Laye of Greenville, Mississippi, Billie Jo Stafford of Baton Rouge, LA., Reba Fountain off Deer Park, Beverly Badgley of Beach City; nephews, Jimmy Williams of Hurst, Joe Williams of Denver, CO., Charles James of Jasper, Bobby James of Buna, Paul James of Highland; foster-son, David Dobson and his children Jamie, John and Allie Dobson as well as many friends.
A memorial service will be held May 22 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck, (on the corner of 5th and Ave. D). The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the building fund of The First Baptist Church of Van Vleck, PO Box 541, Van Vleck,  Texas 77482.
Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.

Dorthalee Ella Moody
May 31, 2004
Dorthalee Ella Moody, 82, of Colmesneil passed away May 12, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital.
Born June 21, 1921 in Beaumont to Reuben and Josie Dell Conner Allen, she lived in Tyler County for 30 years. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Melody J. Anderson and husband, Harry of Woodville and Lynn Allen of Bryan; sons, Mac Fendley of Dallas, Keary Fendley of Houston and Gene Fendley and wife, Eleanor of Fort Worth; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service was held Saturday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at Riley Funeral Home with Brother Randy Chatelaine officiating. Burial followed at Shilo Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening at the funeral home.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Samuel Edward Duff
May 31, 2004
Samuel Edward Duff, 95, of Warren passed away May 17, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital.
Born September 6, 1908 in Warren to Leander Simpson and Margaret D. Overstreet Duff, he lived in Tyler County most of his life. He was self employed in real estate and oil properties. He was a member and deacon at Hebron Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma McNeely Duff; daughters, Betty Holmes of Lumberton, Lela Tolar of Nederland and Mary Duff of Warren; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Alton Harwell officiating. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery in Warren. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mitch Holmes, Mark Tolar, Cary Tolar, Paul Jannise, Billy Stephenson, Joe Jones, Brent Brown, and Roy Arriola.
Funeral services are entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County

Charles Everett Pfleider
May 17, 2004
Charles Everett Pfleider, 95, of Woodville passed away May 2, 2004 at the Woodville Convalescent Center Nursing Home.
Born December 3, 1908 in Winnie, to Charles and Mae DeBlanc Pfleider, he lived in Woodville for many years. He was retired from the Beaumont Firefighters in 1972. He was a charter member of the Ivanhoe Firefighters.
He was married to Ruby Stidham in 1931. Ruby preceded him in death by six years.
He is survived by his loving family, son, Troy Pfleider and wife, Peggy of Hemphill; daughter, Darlene Jenkins Collins and husband, Bo of Hillister; grandsons, Joey Pfleider and wife , Cindy of Buna, John Jenkins and wife, Kay of Vidor and Stephen Jenkins and wife, Roxanne of Lumberton; three great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Reed officiating. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were John Jenkins, Steve Jenkins, Ronnie Pfleider, Joey Pfleider, Leon Todd and Hailey Collins.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Kenneth Wayne Kelley
May 17, 2004
Kenneth Wayne Kelley, 55, of Kountze passed away April 26, 2004 at his residence.
Born Sept. 6, 1948 in Jasper to Christopher C. and Louise Brown Kelley, he lived in Kountze for many years. He was a truck driver for Wooden Pallets.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Grizzle Kelley; mother, Louise Brown Pickard; daughter, Misty Kelley Shaffer; son, Kenney Wayne Kelley; brothers, Nell Kelley and Donnie Kelley; sisters, Sharon Gordon, Janice Kelley, Michelle Kelley; step-sons, Jodie Golden and Earnest Ray Golden.
Cremation services were handled under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Rev. Edward James Mills
May 17, 2004
Reverend Edward James Mills, 83, of Woodville went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2004.
Born Nov. 8, 1920 in Hillister, to Jesse James and Lottie Hensarling Mills. He served many years on the Board of the Gulf Coast Section with the South  Texas District of the Assemblies of God Church. Rev. Mills pastored churches with the Assemblies of God for 52 years. He founded and pastored the first Assembly of God in Colmesneil. He pastored Clawson Assembly of God in Lufkin. His last pastorate was 36 years at the First Assembly of God in Clute.
Rev. Mills is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Mills; son, Rev. James Mills and wife, Glenda of Dayton; daughter, Alice Williams and husband, Rev. Kenneth of Poteau, OK; grandsons, Michael Mills and wife, Amanda of Baytown and Kevin Mills and wife, Amanda of Fairborn, OH; granddaughters, Lisa Hiatt and husband, Rev. Brian of Mesquite and Kristin Hicks and husband, Ken of Springfield, MO; great grandsons, Clayton and Dalton Mills of Baytown and Matthew Hiatt of Mesquite; brothers, Lester Mills and wife, Lucille of Jasper and Jesse Mills and wife, Dorothy of Marion; sister, Grace Headding and husband, Rev. Merle of Lamar, CO.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 11 at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Rev. J. C. Durham and Rev. Tillery officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Mills, Kevin Mills, Clayton Mills, Dalton Mills and Brian Hiatt. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Matthew Hiatt.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Erma Louise Owens

Erma Louise Owens, 72, of Woodville passed away May 3, 2004 at Kindred Hospital in Houston.
Born June 10, 1931 in Swifton, ARK. to George Albert and Pauline Swope Swink, she lived in Woodville for the last twenty years. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving family, son, Benny Ray of Woodville; granddaughter, Stephanie June Ray of Woodville; brothers, Jimmy Dale Swink and wife, June of Little Rock, ARK. and Earl Dean Swink of Woodville; a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service was held Friday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Trest officiating. Burial followed at Camp Ground Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Frank Eaves, Richard Shaw, Truman Sims, Benny Ray, Brian Sims, Jim Swink, Jr., Jim Swink, Sr., Frank Donahoe, Willie and Philip.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Neal William "Buddy" Sheffield
May 17, 2004
Neal William "Buddy" Sheffield, 69, passed away May 3, 2004 at his residence.
Born Oct. 30, 1934 in Woodville, to Veston Ray and Willie Maude Neal Sheffield, he lived in Tyler County most of his life. He graduated from Woodville High School in 1953. He then went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad for five years before beginning a thirty-five year career for Brown & Root in Houston. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodville.
He was preceded in death by his son, Seth Sheffield and father, Veston Sheffield.
He is survived by his loving family, mother, Willie Maude Sheffield of Woodville; wife of forty-nine years, Phyllis Renfroe Sheffield of Woodville; sisters, Billie Ray Crews of Colmesneil, Merle Evans of Pt. Neches, Jenny Blakeney of Woodville and Linda Arceneaux of Beaumont; daughter, Tish Cowan and husband, Bob of Baytown; grandsons, Kris Cowan and wife, Marcy and Andrew Cowan; a great grandson, Parker Cowan and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services was held Wednesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodville with burial following at Camp Ground Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at Riley Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Townson, Buddy Ogden, Roger Russell, Lawrence Rainey, Lloyd Fortenberry and Lewis Harold.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Bailey Anna Ensign
May 17, 2004
Bailey Anna Ensign, 4 year old daughter of Cassandra Ensign and Chris Ensign of Jasper passed away May 5, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services for Bailey was held Saturday, May 8, at 10 a.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper with burial following at West Oaks Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Forest Oaks.
Survivors include her mother, Cassandra Ensign of Jasper; father, Chris Ensign of Jasper; grandparents, Pauline Rhodes of Jasper, Kathy and James Ensign of Beaumont and Joel Rhodes of  West Virginia.
Officiating the service was Rev. Robert Jacks, serving as pallbearers were Jeff Coulter, Derek Woods, Mike Poindexter and Gerald Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital HPE Clinic in Dallas. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Services under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.

Pamela Jane Hightower

Funeral services for Pamela Jane Hightower, 34, of Livingston was held Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Livingston with Rev. Lee Poe, and Allen Ross Hightower III officiating, interment followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery also in Livingston.
She is survived by her parents, Allen and Debbie Hightower of Huntsville, Sue and Rocky Coward of Livingston; sons, Colby Lister and Hunter Branam and daughter Christa Branam all of Livingston; grandparents are Elizabeth Hightower of Nacogdoches and Sonny and Edna Gaston of Livingston; brothers, Allen Ross Hightower, III of Huntsville and R. J. Coward of Bridge City; sisters, Pattie Hightower of Huntsville and Kara Coward of Houston.
Pam was born Dec. 26, 1969 in Mt. Pleasant.
Visitation was held at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston on Wednesday, May 5, between the hours of 6 and 10 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Educational Fund For The Children at the American Bank 1718 11th street, Huntsville, TX. 77342.

Mary S. Chapman w/art

Mary S. Chapman, 84, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at her residence.
She has lived in Westlake for the last 7 years, after moving from Victoria. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sulphur. Mrs. Chapman was an LPN for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Pettijohn and husband Kenneth of Westlake; one brother, Donald Stewart of Victoria; 2 sisters, Betty Moudy of Porterville, CA and Jean Jennings of Henderson; 6 grandchildren, Terri Giles and husband Greg of Lake Arthur, Denise Caraway and husband Kelly of Westlake, Dwayne Pettijohn and wife Lori of Las Vegas, Cindy Whalen and husband Mark of Baldwinsville, NY, Tracy Fuller and husband Jim of Newburgh, IN., and Trey Witte and wife Stacie of Minthill, NC; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Mr. Herbert Yarborough; her second husband, Mr. James Chapman; and one daughter, Judy Witte.
Her funeral was held Friday, May 7 in the Westlake Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home. Pastor John Duke officiated. A committal service was held the following day in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel in Westlake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Sulphur. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.
