Mary Jo Jones, 72, of Woodville passed away July 7, 2004 at the Woodville Convalescent Center Nursing Home.
Born January 28, 1932 in Lubbock to Ed and Eunice King Owens, she lived in Woodville for 28 years and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Wilbern Jones; daughter, Sharon Sosa of Woodville; brother, James Owens of Porter; sisters, Betty Jenkins of Porter, Norma Jean Allen of El Paso and Vikki of Pheonix, AZ; four grandsons, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service was held Saturday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church with Brother Doyle Butcher officiating. Burial followed at New Hope Cemetery in Fred. Visitation was held Friday evening at Riley Funeral Home.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Marjorie Goodson
July 18, 2004
Marjorie Goodson, 86, of Woodville passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Marjorie was born April 4, 1918 to Leonard "George" and Anna Blanche Braniger Lynn in  Oklahoma City, Ok. She was a former resident of Columbia, MO and a longtime resident of Woodville. She was a retired bookkeeper from Hughes Aircraft and was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Wayne Davenport of Woodville; sister, Bonita Monn of  Oklahoma; niece, Margie Mines and husband Don of Austin; and great nephews, Steve Mines and David Mines.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Genevieve "Shorty" Savoy
July 18, 2004
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 11, 2004 in Houston. Mrs. Savoy was a native of Memphis, TN. and a long time resident of Port Arthur before moving to Woodville. She was a member of the St. Rita of Little Flower Altar Society in Port Acres, Our Lady of the Pines Altar Society, and VFW Lady Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Savoy. She is survived by her husband, C. H. "Slim" Savoy of Woodville; daughters, Patricia Breaux and husband Curtis of Port Acres, Cindy Merren and husband Gilbert of San Antonio, Connie Abshire and husband John of Nederland, and Vickie Kilchrist and husband Bruce of Orange; sister, Margaret Glaze of Nederland; 5 grandsons and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15 at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Woodville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville. Entombment will be 3:30 Thursday at Oak Bluff Memorial Park Cemetery in Port Neches.
Pallbearers are Dwayne Breaux, Jeromy Abshire, Steven Breaux, Julian Abshire, Alex Breaux, and Danny Delahoussaye. Honorary pallbearers are W. J. Arnaud and Grant Kilchrist.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Willie Barlow
July 18, 2004
Willie Barlow, 84, of Woodville, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Woodville Convalescent Center in Woodville. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Woodville with burial at the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Little Willie Barlow as he was known, leaves to cherish his memories; one brother, Burl Barlow of San Francisco, CA.; extended family member, Frank Lee of Woodville and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services entrusted to Coleman's Tyler County Funeral Home of Woodville.

Debbie Borowski
July 18, 2004
Debbie Borowski, 56, of Woodville, passed away Monday, July 12, 2004 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 14 at 4 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Colmesneil Cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Jeff Lowe, her pastor of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church.
Debbie was born September 14, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. Clinton L. Smith in Houston. She was longtime resident of Woodville and she and her, Ted owned and operated T. B. Electric Company. She was a member of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Borowski, Jr. of Woodville; son, Kevin Borowski and wife, Melanie of Houston; daughter, Shelley Borowski Harvill and husband, Michael of Haughton, LA; grandchildren, John Michael, Tyler and Jordan Harvill and Hunter and Cole Borowski.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Gerald Wayne ‘Jerry’ Wallace
July 13, 2004
Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Wallace, 70, born February 11, 1934 in Chester. Died July 3, 2004 in Houston.
He was owner and operator of B & W Meat Company, 4801 N. Shepherd, for over 45 years. Lifetime member and Committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was also a member of the Greater Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Heights Lions Club. Jerry was owner and operator of The Lantana Ranch in Flatonia.
Survived by his wife of 16 years, Alinka Wallace of Flatonia, formerly of Houston; sons, John R. Wallace and wife Sally of Woodville, Ben A. Wallace and wife Kay of Crosby; step daughter, Dayna Bauer and husband Kurt; grandchildren, Amanda Ard, Lauren Hillier, Becky Wallace, Anna Wallace and Nicole Jameson; great granddaughter, Haley Hillier; sister, Wanda McKnight and husband Byron of Nacogdoches; and uncle, Kenneth Wallace of Colmesneil.
The family received friends on Monday, July 5 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Seamans Cemetery in Chester, near Woodville.
Local arrangements entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Curtis Andrew Lilly

Curtis Andrew Lilly, 51, of Burkeville, passed away June 23, 2004 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of the area, he enjoyed trucking, gardening, fishing and hunting.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 26 at Church on the Rock in Jasper with burial following at Tanner Cemetery in Burkeville under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.
Survivors include his father, Kurt Lilly of Bon Wier, TX; mother, Wanda Lynn of Jasper; wife, Laura Lea Lilly of Burkeville; son, David Lilly of Farrsville; daughters, Joann Calicott of Jasper, Ione Duhon of Warren and Emma Harvey and Sharon Tyree both Leesville, La; Brothers, Kenny Lilly and James Lilly both Jasper; sisters Dianne Miller and Donnis Mass both of Jasper, Kathy Lilly of Bon Wier and Regina Womack and Kristy Sawyer both of Newton, along with five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Curtis Lilly Memorial Fund.

Jennie V. Fondren

Jennie V. Fondren, 86, of Warren passed away Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 3 - 8 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at Broussard’s Mortuary 505 12th street Nederland. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 12 with Pastor Jim Copeland of Winnie and Pastor Mark Kelsay of Coppers Cove officiating at Broussard’s Nederland Chapel. Interment followed at 4 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Services at Mt. Pisgah were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Woodville.
Jennie was born January 13, 1918 in Leggett to Robert and Sarah Arrilla Oates. She was a retired nurses aid, having worked for St. Mary’s and Park Place Hospitals and was a member of the Living Water non-Denominational Church. She had previously resided in Nederland for many years and had recently been a resident of Warren at the home of her daughter Shirley Hudson.
Jennie is survived by her daughters, Shirley Parish Hudson of Warren, Brenda Hebert and husband, John of Port Neches; son, Joe Fondren and wife, Ann of Nederland; grandchildren, Jimmy Parish and wife, Cindy of Katy, Chase Fondren of Nederland, Chris Redman and wife, Kelly of Groves, Lindsey Vannett and husband, Adam of Nederland, John Hebert and wife, Nutshara of Lake Jackson, and James Hebert of lake Jackson; two great grandchildren, Ben Suda and Ryleigh Redman; one sister, Johnnie Robinson of Dayton and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Fondren; two sons, Donald “Red” Fondren and James Oscar “Oscar Bill” Fondren.
Pallbearers were grandsons Chase Fondren, Chris Redman, Jimmy Parish and great nephews, Donnie Bode, Danny Bode and Adam Vannett. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Pennington, Joel Foster, Charles Johnson, Wayne Coker, Reid Dickard, Rodney Bode, Robert Pennington, Steven Oates, Bobby Smith, Jimmy Norwood, Raymond Quebedeaux and Butch Pennington.
Services were under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary of Nederland.

Frances Ann Holmes
July 6, 2004
Rayburn Country- Frances Ann Holmes, 69, passed away June 27, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
She was born October 5, 1934 in Port Arthur to Charles Lovelace and Erna Wagner, she lived in  Jefferson County most of her life. She was retired clerk for Dupont.
She is survived by her four sons, David Roy Holmes of Rayburn Country, Garland Earl Holmes of Beaumont, Roger Dale Holmes of Australia and Stephen Corbit Holmes of Sour Lake; two brothers, Garland Lovelace of Burnett and Buddy Lovelace of Port Neches; and five grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. July 3 at Faith Lutheran Church in Woodville were burial followed at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville. Visitation was held Friday, July 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Carol Vermilyea Simpson
July 6, 2004
Carol Vermilyea Simpson, 62, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at her ranch in Spurger,  Texas. A Southeast  Texas resident subce 1970, Carol retired as director of the Beaumont Association for Senior Citizens in 2002. She devoted her life to social work and raising her family.
Carol is survived by her husband Gene Simpson of Spurger, and three songs James Simpson of Hemet, Ca; Corey Simpson of Brazoria, Tx and Brian Simpson of San Diego, Ca. She is also survived by one sister, Linda Stoddard of Cameron Park, Ca and two grandchildren, James Simpson II and Justin Simpson of Hemet, Ca.
A family memorial service was held in Spurger on Monday, June 21. Carol will lay at rest in Laguna Beach, Ca. Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Timothy Wayne Cooper
July 6, 2004
Timothy Wayne Cooper, 24, of Woodville, passed away June 24, 2004 at his residence.
Born November 10, 1979 in Naples,  Texas to Steven Wayne Cooper and Brenda Kay Tyson, he lived in tyler County for many years. He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Brenda K. and Tommy Walker of Woodville; daughter, Riley Cooper of Woodville; sister, Hollie Tyson of Woodville; grandparents, Bob and Helen Tyson of Texarkana, Tx and Leroy and Nancy Matthews of Mount Pleasant; nieces, Morgan Bale and Lauren St. Clair, both of Woodville; nephews Joshua Walker and Jonathan Simms, both of Woodville.
A graveside service was held Sunday, June 27 at 2 p.m. at the Town Bluff Cemetery.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

John Dee Stewart, Sr.
June 28, 2004
John Dee Stewart, Sr., 82, of Woodville passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Memorial services were held Sunday, June 20 at 3 p.m. in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan.
John was born December 26, 1921 to Dee and Eva Bowers Stewart in Corrigan. He was employed in the timber industry as a forester and was a WWII veteran. He is survived by his former wife, Jessie Mason Stewart; son, John Dee Stewart, Jr. of San Diego, CA; and sister, Ada Vee Stewart of Commerce City, Colorado.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
